Block 1 Week 4: Comp Deadlift
Was feeling a bit tired and run down, and I could tell I wasn't feeling at my best. However, this is the last week of this block, so I committed to going for the prescribed goal today, and giving it my all. Top Set was not as pretty and smooth I would have liked it to be; but hey, it is an all-time PR, and I was not on my A game, so I can let it slide a bit. I was completely trashed afterwards, though. I had to drop the weight quite a bit for my back-off sets, because I was just totally pooched, and each one felt like absolute grinders. I did manage to snag another PR with Romanian Deadlifts though, as well. I'll probably play it safer from here on out, and do 2.5 Kg bumps, so I don't risk potentially overextending myself, or god forbid, overtaxing my lower back. I know I still have a lot more to give, but I gotta pace myself, too! All in due time. Milestone goal for me is to hit 140 Kgs for sets and reps, which would be awesome. One step at a time.

FIRST TIME doing Heavy Hook-Grip Training! 165 kgs x2 Paused Deadlift.
This is a clip taken from my recent Paused Deadlift and Tempo Bench Press Session (Block 1: Week 3). This is my first time ever going fairly heavy with Hook-Grip, and it went much better than expected. I'm hoping to keep pushing with this grip style, work out the kinks, and quite possibly, eventually change to Hook-Grip as my main grip for Deadlift. Excited to see where this goes!

Block 1 Week 3: Paused Deadlifts + Tempo Bench Press Session.
I remembered to bring my chalk this time, so I got to get some solid Hook Grip training in, today. Forgot my speaker, though 😩. I figured finally dipping in to Hook Grip Practice can be a nice way to regulate my training loads/RPE, for deadlift accessory work so I work with perhaps a bit less weight, while still challenging myself, and getting good work in. I think once I get a hang of it, and my thumbs build a good tolerance to it, I can start pushing it even harder. This overall went very well; better than expected. I was going to shoot for 170 Kgs, which would have been cake with mixed grip, judging how easy 165 moved with hook, but I decided to play it safe, as I have very very little experience with hook, and I am pretty sure the most I have ever done before this with hook grip is about 120 Kgs lol, as I basically have only practiced it every now and then with warm up weights. I think I could have easily done 170 today with Hook Grip as well, judging by how easy 165 moved. I didn't want to pull an Icarus and get too overconfident though, and risk tearing my thumbs, hahaha. I may very well transition to Hook Grip in the future, once I work out the kinks. We'll see! 🤘🏻

Block 1 Week 3: Comp Deadlift Session.
Great progress, today! I was debating whether to do the prescribed/calculated weight for my Top Set, or play it safe and go a bit lower. However, I decided that I needed to stop being a COWARD, and JUST DO IT. In the end, it went even better than I expected; with definitely 2-3 reps left in the tank. Mixed Grip pulls are coming back with a vengeance 🤘🏻.

Block 1 Week 2: High-Bar Squat Session
Despite feeling a bit tired, and out of rhythm a bit, due to life circumstances, I am pretty happy with how this went. I think this is technically the most weight I have ever pushed for reps with High-Bar squatting, as I have usually only done this variation with lower weight, and higher volume. Nothing crazy, but a sort of PR I suppose nonetheless, haha. Let's keep pushin' 🤘🏻

Block 1 Week 2: Paused Deadlifts and Tempo Bench Press
Decent session, overall. Not the most ideal circumstances, with these bars not being that great for heavy lifting, and forgetting my chalk at home. However other than that, today was nice and productive. The body seems to to be adapting well to the increased benching frequency (knock on wood), so I am really anxious to see how the lift progresses, in the coming weeks🤘🏻.

3x12 100 Kgs Romanian Deadlifts. Last Set
My Comp Deadlift session ended up being a bit disappointing, today. I thought it was going to go well, but my strength and energy just dropped between my last work up set, and my top set, so I made it a bit lighter, to be conservative with fatigue/RPE. These went pretty well, though. I would like to do these with dumbbells, as the program calls for, but I only have one adjustable dumbell at home with not much weight, and I didn't feel like going all the way to the gym just for this one exercise, haha. Plus our dumbells only go up to 36 Kgs, lol. I'll try and increase these by 2.5 - 5 Kgs per week, while also focusing on keeping it in the max RPE 8 range. Let's boost dat posterior chain 🤘🏻.

Block 1 Week 2: Comp Squat Session
First session of my second week into the new program; starting off with le skwat. I'm definitely feeling better than last week, and overall this session went quite well. I don't find this rack at my work place to be the most ideal, as I have stated previously, and much prefer my home setup. The rack is horrible for unracking heavy weight (Bench Press right after this with this rack was a lot more difficult because of this. I would have liked to have filmed that too, but the gym got too busy to feasibly do it), and for some reason, I feel much more off balance squatting here, than at home, like I am going to fall backwards, sometimes. Might be the position/angle of the floor, I am not sure. I am also trying a new video format, which is something I have wanted to do for a while, by making a montage/movie of my session with my working weights,/back-offs, etc, and then maybe upload the top set as a separate short, if I think it is worth doing. I figure this can diversify the content a bit, while giving me a method to upload training footage aside from just top sets, while helping keep uploads more frequent-ish; as I said I won't always be hitting crazy rep and percentage PRs and stuff, with this type of program.

182.5 Kgs x 2 Paused Deadlift.
First time doing Paused Deadlifts in quite a while. This is also by far the most amount of weight I have ever done paused, and for reps, so I am pretty pleased with this. I think I had another 2-3 reps in the tank. I couldn't do my back-off sets, though, due to being rushed to get to work right after this, lol. I have to say, these felt really good; especially since I don't have a ton of experience with them, and have not done them in a long time. I'm looking forward to doing these more 🤘🏻.

100 KGS X 3.9 INCLINE BENCH PRESS
100 Kgs x 3 was my first milestone goal with Incline Bench Press, so I am super stoked that I hit it on my first try (first time ever incline benchong with this weight, too). I sincerely thought I even had a fourth rep in me, as the 3rd felt easier than I expected. However, looking ar the footage, it looks more clearpy apparent that I did not, lol. Still was VERY, very close. I'll get it, eventually. Great progress! Especially considering how I have been feeling lately. Hoping to keep the progress going, after deloading/resetting my fatigue levels 🤘🏻

190 Kgs x 4 Deadlift.
Considering how I have been so drained lately, I am actually really quite pleased with this session. I felt a bit better than during yesterday's bench session, but definitely still feeling weak. My explosive strength/speed in particular was just not there, today. My original goal was 5 reps, but that was based on me going in to the session feeling good, and strong. I thought I would be lucky to hit 3 reps in my current state, so I initially decided to play it safe, and shoot for that. However, this went better than I expected, so I pushed it a little harder. I am 100 % sure I could have hit five here, but I could feel my lower back was starting to feel funky/fatigued, so I decided to call it at 4, and not risk over-exerting myself. 5-6 reps at the very least would have been there, if I didn't sabotage myself with fatigue. This is still the most weight I have repped with the deadlift to date, so far; so all in all I am really happy this. I got in some good solid work, while still leaving some in the tank, to preserve myself.

105 Kgs x 6 Bench Press. New Rep PR!
I think I've gone too hard with the training/accessory work lately, and it has come back to bite me, haha. I have been feeling super exhausted and weak, the past few training sessions, which is why I didn't upload anything from my recent squatting session. Felt totally weak and drained, and didn't do anything exciting. The weights felt incredibly heavy today; everything was moving slower, and my shoulders (particularly my left one) were feeling pretty creaky/naggy. I believe my previous best with this was only 4 reps, so this is technically a pretty good PR; especially considering my state, in this session. I maaaaaaybe had one rep in reserve, but that is a big if; and I definitely wasn't going ro chance it, already being so tired. It is a miracle I got to six, as I was, lol. I am sure I could hit one or two more, when feeling better. I am going to have to play it by ear, and potentially take it easier/take the foot off the gas a bit, if this exhaustion continues. Don't want to risk beating myself up too much; and god forbid, hurt myself.
