Motorcycle Crash, Driver Flown in Critical Condition, BOLD SPRINGS, March 4, 2023 - At approximately 5:30 pm on March 4, 2023, a red three wheel Harley Davidson motorcycle was north-bound on FM-350 North. The driver of the motorcycle left the pavement to the right, over corrected left crossed 350 to the other side and crashed. The driver, Ronaldy Wayne Yates, 72, of Moscow, was ejected from his motorcycle as the motorcycle came to rest on its side in the grass. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Adrian Ontiveros with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Yates sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to a helicopter pad in Livingston and was flown to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition. All traffic on 350 North was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Yates' motorcycle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Motorcycle Accident, Driver Flown, MT ROSE, March 4, 2023 - At approximately 9:20 am on March 4, 2023, a red Harley Davidson motorcycle that was with a group of other motorcycles was north-bound on FM-1988 South. The driver veered off the pavement to the right, lost control, and crashed his motorcycle. The driver, Hector Flores, 60, of Houston, was ejected. Flores was wearing a helmet. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Linley Clark with the Texas Highway Patrol. Flores sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a helicopter pad in Livingston and was flown to Kingwood Hospital. Traffic on 1988 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Flores' motorcycle was drivable and was driven from the scene by a friend.

Driver Crashes, Car Burns, Driver in Critical Condition, CAMP RUBY, February 19, 2023 - At around 8:45 pm on February 19, 2023, a white 2022 Kia K5, driven by Kelli Leanne Leger, 32, of Livingston, was driving south on FM-1276 (about three quarters of a mile from US-190 East), when her vehicle left the pavement to the left, struck a tree, and caught fire. The front half of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Leger was able to exit her vehicle with massive injuries and lay down just a few yards away. AMS ambulance service was dispatched to the scene along with the Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Sean Barnes and Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Emergency personnel converged on the Leger and carefully loaded her into an ambulance. Leger was transported to a landing zone at Camp Ruby and was flown to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition. Traffic on 1276 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Livingston Man Flown from Scene in Critical Condition, PROVIDENCE, February 19, 2023 - Shortly after 3 am on February 19, 2023, a white 2002 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by Isaac Ja-Rod Wiggins Hill, 28, of Livingston, was east-bound on FM-1988 East. For some reason, his vehicle left the pavement to the right in the 3750 block (about a mile from US-146). Hill's vehicle continued through the grass, went through a barbed wire fence, and slammed into a large tree. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Hill was trapped in his vehicle. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut into the vehicle and carefully retrieve Hill from his vehicle. An Air Life medical helicopter landed on 1988. Hill was flown to Kingwood Hospital in critical condition. All traffic was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Hill's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing and was assisted by Ken's Towing. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Pickup vs 18 Wheeler, CAMDEN, February 13, 2023 - At approximately 12:30 pm on February 13, 2023, an 18 wheeler hauling a load of plywood, driven by Christopher Lilley, 52, of Nacogdoches, was east-bound on FM-62 (about a quarter mile east of the Camden mill). A west-bound gray 1999 Chevy 1500 pickup, driven by Clayton Flanigan, 18, of Colmesneil entered a curve too fast and crossed the center line. The Chevy impacted trailer portion of the 18 wheeler. The impact caused the Chevy to spin around and come to rest in the weeds facing whest. The 18 wheeler lost most of its load of plywood on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department and Troopers Kevin Burman, Nick Hatton, and Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Volunteer Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door off of Flanigan's pickup and carefully remove him. Flanigan and his passenger were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. All traffic on FM-62 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. At time of press (3 pm), the mess is still being cleaned up. Flanigan was cited for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess and tow both vehicles.

Fire Destroys Home, Cars, Travel Trailer, GOODRICH, February 2, 2023 - At approximately 7:40 pm on February 2, 2023, neighbors reported a house fire at the address of 130 Edmond Street (off Loop 393). Goodrich and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. In addition to the house, a travel trailer parked next to the house, and two vehicles completely burned. The owner of the home, Angelina Galvez, 50, was not at home when the fire broke out. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Corporal Darren Brooks and Deputy Austin Goins with the Polk County Sheriff's Office initiated a preliminary investigation. According to a source, Galvez had left a space heater on for pets and this is believed to be the likely cause of the fire. The fire was extinguished, but the home was completely destroyed.

Lake's vehicle spun around and slide backwards into a drainage area while the Jeep came to rest on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies Caleb Boyer, Dakota Martinez, and Sergeant William Land with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Linley Clark and Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lake was pinned in her vehicle. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the vehicle from around Lake and safely remove her from her vehicle. Both Lake and her passenger were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Christensen was physically okay. Traffic on 1988 and 3126 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Christensen was cited for failing to yield right-of-way to Lake. Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Car Plunges Under 18 Wheeler, 1 Deceased, 1 Flown, CORRIGAN, January 20, 2023 - Shortly before 2 pm on January 20, 2023 a black 2007 Nissan Versa (all names being whithheld) was south-bound on US-59. As the car was about to pass Plant Road, an 18 wheeler allegedly pulled off of Plant Road and directly in front of the car. The car plunged into the underside of the trailer portion of the 18 wheeler. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department and Officers Corporal Fitzpatrick Foster, Johnathan Reynolds and Chief Darrell Gibson with Corrigan Police Department. Additionally, Troopers Sean Barnes and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol arrived to assist. The driver appears to have been killed on impact. The passenger was flown from the scene. The driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured. Traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was backed up for 3.5 miles. Justice of the Peace, Robert "Dooley" Johnson executed an inquest at the scene. The car was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan. The 18 wheeler was drivable. This accident remains under investigation by the Corrigan Police Department. Collision Turns Fatal as Car Has Head On with 18 Wheeler, ACE, January 18, 2023 - At approximately 11:25 am on January 18, 2023, an 18 wheeler was northeast bount on FM-2610 (about 1.5 miles from US-146) when the driver of a silver 2013 Honda Civic crossed the center line from the opposite direction of travel. The two vehicle collided head on. The Honda left the pavement to the left while the 18 wheeler (hauling 12x12 planks) left the pavement on the opposite side of the road and slammed into large pine trees. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County and Holiday Lake Estates Volunteer Fire Departments and Troopers Corporal Ramey Bass, Johnny Wilkerson, and Sergeant Sam Lattner. Names are being withheld at this time. The driver of the car was rushed by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving. Justice of the Peace, Robert "Dooley" Johnson executed an inquest. The driver of the 18 wheeler had some minor cuts but was otherwise okay. All traffic on 2610 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. The car was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker and will be stored in Goodrich. The 18 wheeler was recovered by East Texas Towing. We will update this story when more information is made available. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Scott's vehicle went into the center median and came to rest upside down. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Both Soupart and Scott were removed from their vehicles by emergency personnel. Both were transported by ambulance to a landing zone and were flown to the Houston area. Traffic on the east-bound side of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Intoxication is suspected and toxicology reports are pending on both drivers. The vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and LakeView Wrecker. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Motorcycle Rear Ends Pickup, SODA, January 13, 2023 - At approximately 2:05 pm on January 13, 2023, a white 2022 Ford F-150, driven by Cheryl Ann Miller, 35, of Sulphur, Louisiana, was west-bound on US-190 East. As Miller was passing Menard Creek Road, she was slammed from behind by a Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by James Anthony Pendergast, 64, of Livingston. Pendergast was apparently distracted and slammed into the rear passenger's side corner of the pickup. Pendergast was ejected from his bike, fortunately he was wearing a helmet. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Pendergast appeared to have a broken left leg and other possible injuries. Pendergast was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Pendergast is facing a citation for failure to control speed. Miller (nor her passenger) were injured. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Towing recovered Pengergast's motorcycle and it will be stored in Livingston. Miller's vehicle was driven from the scene.
