Driver Crashes, Car Burns, Driver in Critical Condition, CAMP RUBY, February 19, 2023 - At around 8:45 pm on February 19, 2023, a white 2022 Kia K5, driven by Kelli Leanne Leger, 32, of Livingston, was driving south on FM-1276 (about three quarters of a mile from US-190 East), when her vehicle left the pavement to the left, struck a tree, and caught fire. The front half of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Leger was able to exit her vehicle with massive injuries and lay down just a few yards away. AMS ambulance service was dispatched to the scene along with the Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Sean Barnes and Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Emergency personnel converged on the Leger and carefully loaded her into an ambulance. Leger was transported to a landing zone at Camp Ruby and was flown to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition. Traffic on 1276 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
