Collision Hospitalizes 2, PROVIDENCE, March 27, 2024 - Shortly after 5 pm on March 27, 2024, a black 2019 Ford Edge, driven by Nancy Briton, 75, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. As Briton was about to pass Providence Road, a black 2020 Nissan Sentra, driven by Alauna Lester, 22, of Livingston, pulled off of Providence directly in front of Briton. Briton's vehicle broad sided Lester's vehicle. Lester's vehicle slid off the pavement into the grass on the north-bound side of 146 while Briton's vehicle spun around and came to rest on the pavement facing north. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lester was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown from the scene. Briton was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 146 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Lester is facing a citation for failure to yield. Briton's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston while Lester's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing and will also be stored in Livingston.

2 Vehicle Accident Hospitalizes 1, BLANCHARD, March 20, 2024 - At approximately 7:40 pm on March 20, 2024, a black 2009 Toyota Camry, driven by Zavalla Gutierrez, 35 of Honduras, was south-bound on FM-2457 (next to Dollar General just off 190). A red north-bound 2014 Nissan Versa, driven by Elaine Carnegie, 67, of Livingston suddenly attempted a left turn into Dollar General but failed to yield to Gutierrez. The vehicles collided. Gutierrez's vehicle left the pavement to the right and continued up a mild slope, while Carnegie's vehicle came to rest on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Gutierrez was physically okay, but Carnegie was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Carnegie is facing a citation for failure to yield, while Gutierrez is facing citations for no driver's license and no insurance. Carngegie's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston while Gutierrez's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.

Robbery/Pursuit Started in Porter Spills Into Polk County, SAN JACINTO COUNTY, March 18, 2024 - Shortly after 11 am PolkCountyToday.com was alerted that there was a pursuit that started in Porter was headed towards Polk County (via Trinity River Bridge). As we were south-bound on US-59 (near Lakeside Village), the pursuit passed us (on the north-bound side of 59), then quickly turned around headed south again. The suspect vehicle was finally stopped just south of the Trinity River Bridge in San Jacinto County (near the Covered Wagon). The driver allegedly robbed a Walgreens in Porter. Several of our Deputies were set up to spike the tires of the vehicle, and the suspect vehicle reportedly attempted to run over them. The suspect has been caught and will be facing a list of charges.

Head On Collision on 59, 1 Deceased, MOSCOW, March 17, 2024 - At approximately 3:47 pm on March 17, 2024, a white 2023 Dodge pickup (pulling a loaded trailer), driven by John Rogers, 21, of New Caney, was south-bound on US-59. Rogers suddenly had a head on colliision with a black 2015 Chevy Malibu. The driver of the Malibu was in the north-bound lanes of 59, and suddenly went into a slide. The Malibu slid through the center median, entered the south-bound lanes and slammed head on into Rogers' pickup. Both vehicles came to rest in the grass on the right side of the south-bound lanes. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Officers from Corrigan Police Department, and Troopers Nick Hatton and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Deputy Adrian Ontiveros was the first emergency person on the scene and applied chest compressions to the driver of the Malibu (Juan D. Iglesias, 71, of Houston). Iglesias succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Rogers was uninjured. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. It is not yet known what caused Iglesias to go into a slide and lose control of his vehicle. Justice of the Peace, Jamie Richardson, filed and inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported Iglesias from the scene. Iglesias' vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan, while Rogers' vehicle was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Huebner had stopped due to stopped traffic in front of him when he was slammed from behind by a white 2018 Dodge Durango, driven by Jasmine Hinds, 32, of Livingston. The impact pushed Huebner's vehicle across the north-bound lane. Huebner steered his vehicle to a stop on the north-bound shoulder of 2457. Hinds' vehicle went into the ditch on the south-bound side. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies Adrian Ontiveros and Keagan Newman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Higwhay Patrol. Hinds exited her vehicle and sat in the ditch with her child passenger. Huebner and his wife were physically okay. Hinds was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Hinds was cited for failure to control speed. Huebner's vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow Wrecker out of Livingston, while Hinds' vehicle was recovered by Harwood Wrecker Service out of Livingston.

The vehicles collided. Mathews broad sided a vehicle that suddenly pulled off of the north end of Loop 393 and failed to yield. The impact caused Mathews' vehicle to roll and came to rest in the center median, upside down. The other vehicle, a red 2022 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by Jill Duke, 69, of Goodrich, continued across 59, crossed the north-bound lanes, and came to rest in the grass on the north-bound side. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments, Deputy Sanford with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Mathews and his female passenger were entrapped in their upside down vehicle. Volunteer Firemen were able to safely extract both. Mathews was flown from the scene by Air Life Air Medical while his passenger and Jill Duke was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. One lane of traffic on both sides of 59 were blocked during investigation and cleanup. Duke is facing a citation for failure to yield. Mathews' vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston while Duke's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker ouf of Goodrich. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Evidence suggests that Shulin caught herself at the last second and cut right but still slammed into the back of Rokhar's 18 wheeler. Shulin's car bounced to the right and spun around as it left the pavement and came to rest at the edge of the woodline facing south. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Fortunately for Shulin she sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Shulin will be cited for failure to control speed. Motorcycle Accident, Driver and Passenger Critical, BLANCHARD, February 9, 2024 - Shortly before 7 pm on February 9, 2024, the driver of a red Kawasaki motorcycle (with female passenger) was south-bound on FM-2457. According to a witness, the driver was traveling around 100 miles per hour (towards the end of 2457 on the lake). The driver lost control, the motorcycle turned over on its side and slid approximately 150 feet, crashed through the end-of-road barrier and came to rest in the grass. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. A witness at the scene (Jason Turner, of Livingston) was fishing off a nearby pier and went to help before EMS personnel arrived. Neither the driver nor his passenger had any identification on them. Both were transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown to the Houston area in critical condition. At time of press, the names have not yet been released. The motorcycle was recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Suddenly, a west-bound silver 2019 Chevy Equinox, driven by Gilbert Thompson, 30, of Livingston, veered over the center line causing a glancing head on collision with Abate's vehicle. The impact caused Abate's vehicle to leave the pavement to the right and continue down an embankment where it came to rest. Thompson's vehicle spun around facing east and came to rest on the shoulder of the west-bound lane. Allegiance Ambulance service was dispatched to the scene along with the Alabama Coushatta and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments, the Alambama Coushatta Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Corporal Ramey Bass and Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Abate and his wife were entrapped as was Thompson. Firemen were able to rescue all three. Abate and his wife were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. An Air Life medical helicopter landed on 190 and flew Thompson from the scene. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation, flight operations, and cleanup. Thompson had cans of beer in his vehicle and there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from Thompson's person. Pending an investigation, Thompson may be facing serious alcohol related charges. The vehicles were recovered by LakeView Towing and Kwik Tow (both out of Livingston). This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

The impact knocked Roach's vehicle into the east-bound lane and she was slammed again (glancing head on) by a white Chevy Silverado driven by Phillip Wilkinson, 65, of Splendora. Roach's vehicle and Dickerson's vehicle's came to rest on the pavement while Wilkinson's vehicle left the pavement to the right and came to rest in a parking area. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Game Wardens and Troopers Sean Barnes, Nick Hatton, and Sergeant Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Joan Roach was killed on impact. Dickerson and Wilkinson were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. All traffic was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Pace Funeral Home transported Roach from the scene. All three vehicles were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

According to witnesses, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma slid out of control on the icy bridge. That was the beginning. A multi-vehicle pile up of eight vehicles inlcuing 18 wheelers were involved. According to sources, one woman involved in the accident who was driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup, got out of her vehicle to help. She was then struck by another out of control vehicle. She (Salina Gilcrest, of Jasper) was rushed by ambulance CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where she passed away shortly after arriving. Troopers from Polk and San Jacinto Counties converged on the scene and secured the bridge. South-bound traffic on 59 was backed up far. The south-bound side of the Trinity River Bridge was shut down for hours due to the strewned wreckage, investigation, and cleanup. Vehicle Turns Over, Burns, Driver Rescued from Flames, GOODRICH, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 8:35 am on January 15, 2024, a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Robert Lockhart, 39, of Livingston was south-bound on US-59 South, just north of the north end of Loop 393 when his vehicle left the pavement to the right, continued down the embankment into the wood line, turned over and ignited. Lockhart was entrapped as the vehicle was starting to burn. Fortunately, about five men passing by saw what happened, pulled over, jumped out and was able to rescue Lockhart before EMS personnel showed up. Allegiance Abulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lockhart was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Lockhart's vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow out of Livingston.

ICY BRIDGE CAUSES ROLLOVER, LIVINGSTON TEXAS, 01/15/24...
Icy Bridge Causes Rollover, LIVINGSTON, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 7 am on January 15, 2024, a black 2005 GMC pickup was north-bound on Business 59 overpass (next to Boot Barn). The bridge was iced over and the driver, Jacob Kolojaco, 59, of Livingston, lost control. His pickup slid off the pavment to the left just as he got crossed the bridge, and rolled. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along withe Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Officers Jack Mueller and Matthew Stewart with the Livinston Police Department. Kolojaco and his wife, Denise were entrapped. Volunteer Firemen cut out the windshield and safely got both out of the pickup. Both were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Hosptial with non-life-threatening. No citations were issued. Kolojaco's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.
