Wrong Way Driver Leads to Head On Collision, WEST TEMPE, January 14, 2023 - At approximately 8:20 pm on January 14, 2023, green 1998 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by James Soupart, 53, of Conroe, was east-bound on US-190 West. As Soupart was passing the Corner Shell Station, he had a head on collision with a gray Chevy Trax driven by Beverly Scott, 67, of Onalaska. Scott was driving west-bound in the east-bound lanes of traffic. The impact spun Soupart's vehicle around as it came to rest on the pavement. Scott's vehicle went into the center median and came to rest upside down. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Both Soupart and Scott were removed from their vehicles by emergency personnel. Both were transported by ambulance to a landing zone and were flown to the Houston area. Traffic on the east-bound side of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Intoxication is suspected and toxicology reports are pending on both drivers. The vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and LakeView Wrecker. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
