Unsafe Lane Change Causes Rollover, LIVINGSTON, July 13, 2023 - According to witnesses, at approximately 5:30 pm on July 13, 2023, the driver of a red Chrysler 300 (driver's name not yet released) was south-bound on South Houston (US-146) in the left lane. The female driver decided to change lanes (to the right lane). Witnesses stated that she was driving very fast and cut into the right lane before it was clear to change. She struck the rear driver's side fender of a white Chevy Silverado. The impact caused the Chrysler to roll several times, allegedly ejecting the driver in the process. The Chrysler came to rest upside down in the middle of the pavement (just south of Garner Street). The pickup pulled to a private drive to the right of South Houston. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, and Officers with the Livingston Police Department. The driver of the Chrysler was transported from the scene by ambulance with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup was physically okay. All traffic on 146 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. The Chrysler was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The pickup was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department.

Car Rear Ends 18 Wheeler, Intoxication Suspected, Driver Flown, SCHWAB CITY, July 7, 2023 - At approximately 10 am on July 10, 2023, an 18 wheeler tanker, driven by Raymond Dwayne Dowdell, 64, of Liberty, was south-bound on US-146. Dowdell slowed to make a turn onto Grandbury Lease Road and was slammed from behind by a black 2013 Infiniti G-37, driven by Raymond Dale Rusher, 22, of Plano. Rusher's vehicle came to rest right there while Dowdell pulled right, onto Grandbury Lease Road and stopped. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Holiday Lake Estates and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Rusher was treated at the scene and then loaded onto a medical helicopter and transported to Kingwood Hospital with serious injuries. Dowdell was physically okay. Intoxication by Rushing is suspected (possible marijuana). Traffic on 146 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Rushing was cited for failure to control speed and no seatbelt. Rushing's vehicle was recovered by Pop's Wrecker Service and will be stored in Livingston. The 18 wheeler was driven from the scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

CRAZY WRECK HOSPITALIZES THREE, LIVINGSTON TEXAS, 07/09/23...
Crazy Wreck Hospitalizes 3, LIVINGSTON, July 9, 2023 - Shortly after 1 am on July 9, 2023, a pickup with three young males was south-bound on US-59 in Livingston. For some reason (under investigation), the vehicle left the pavement to the right just before the overpass at the south end of Livingston (near Boot Barn). The pickup left the pavement just before the guardrail portion of the overpass, continued down the embankment crossed the road at the U-Turn portion at the bottom, and jumped an small upward embankment landing just short of the creek. The pickup landed on its passenger's side and caught fire. The three young men got out of the burning pickup and made their way back up the embankment where they flagged down passers by. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, and Officers with the Livingston Police Department. One of the young men reportedly dragged his cousin back up the embank because his cousing couldn't walk from the crash. Two of the occupants had bad head injuries. Two of the men were reportedly taken by ambulance to Kingwood Hospital and the third occupant to CHI Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department. We'll update this story with more information when we receive it.

Driver Jumps Culvert, Arrested for DWI, SCENIC LOOP, July 9, 2023 - Shortly after midnight on July 9, 2023, the driver of a white 2017 Dodge Journey, was north-bound on FM-3277 (Scenic Loop), when his vehicle left the pavement to the right, jumped a culvert, rolled and came to rest upright nose in ditch. Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Allegiance Ambulance Service and Trooper Andrew Moldonado with the Texas Highway Patrol (from San Jacinto County). The driver refused medical treatment and was uninjured. Trooper Moldonado placed the driver (name not released yet) under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Traffic on Scenic Loop was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The vehicle was recovered by Pops Wrecker Service and will be stored in Livingston.

PASSING IN A NO PASSING ZONE, SWARTWOUT TEXAS, 07/04/23...
Passing in No Passing Zone, SWARTWOUT, July 4, 2023 - At approximately 10:50 am on July 4, 2023, the driver of a white 2023 Ford Explorer was east-bound on FM-1988 West. The driver decided to attempt a legal U-turn when the driver of the vehicle behind her, silver Chevy Trailblazer (older model) attempted to pass her in a no passing zone and impacted the front driver's side fender. The impact caused the Chevy to roll and come to rest upright facing west in the middle of the pavement. The Ford Explorer pulled into a driveway. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Tobias Martinez with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. There were no serious injuries. As a precautionary measure, the driver of the Chevy was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The driver of the Chevy was cited for passing in a no passing zone and minor in possession of alcohol. The Chevy was recovered by LakeView Wrecker, while the Ford was recovered by Premier Wrecker (both vehicles will be stored in Livingston).

Gust of Wind Causes Small Plane to Crash While Landing, LEGGETT, June 25, 2023 - Shortly after 2 pm on June 25, 2023, the pilot of a BearHawk Five aircraft, was landing his small airplane on his property (4.5 miles off of US-59). As the pilot was landing, a sudden gust of wind coming from the south pushed the plane into the outside corner of its hangar. Texas EMS Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Johnny Wilkerson and Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Fortunately, the pilot and his passenger sustained only bumps and bruises, but were otherwise okay. Trooper Wilkerson executed a preliminary investigation, before the accident is turned over the Federal Aviation Administration.

McDonald's vehicle came to rest on the soft shoulder while Adamex's vehicle came to rest on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. McDonald was physically okay. Adamex was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Adamex is likely facing a citation for the crash. Adamex's vehicle was recovered by Kwik while McDonald's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing (both will be stored in Livingston). This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Motorcycle/Car Accident by Livingston Post Office, LIVINGSTON, June 16, 2023 - Shortly before 8 pm on June 15, 2023, a Honda motorcycle, driven by Jeffrey Gibbs, 33, of Liberty, was east-bound on West Church Street. As Gibbs was passing the intersection of West Church and Briarway (next to the post office), a navy blue 2017 Honda CR-V, driven by Carline Swilley, 77, of Livingston, that was in the right lane ahead of Gibbs attempted a sudden left turn directly in front of Gibbs. The motorcycle slammed into the driver's side of Swilley's SUV. Both vehicles came to rest right there. An Ambulance from Acute Medical Services was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Firemen from Woodville (who happened to be in the vicinity), and Officers Jacob Edwards and Sergeant Tito Reyes with the Livingston Police Department. Gibbs was wearing a helmet but sustained serious injuries. Gibbs was transported by ambulance to a landing zone and was prepped to be flown from Livingston. Swilley was physically okay. Traffic on West Church was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Swilley was cited for the unsafe turn. Gibbs' motorcycle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston while Swilley's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

18 Wheeler Turns Over, No Injuries, LIVINGSTON, June 15, 2023 - Shortly before 2 pm on June 15, 2023, the driver of an 18 wheeler logging truck was north-bound on US-59 just north of the Livingston City Limits. The driver suddenly had to slow down for heavy traffic, but his brakes failed. The driver cut right and left the pavement to avoid striking another vehicle. The driver drove into a ditch area this caused his loaded 18 wheeler to have a load shift. The weight of the logs turned his rig over on the driver's side. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to investigate. A heavy duty wrecker was sent for to clean up the mess.

Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Alabama Coushatta Police Department, the Alabama Coushatta Volunteer Fire Department, a Deputy from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Kowena was physically okay. Smith was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Acute Medical Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Cash opted to ride on the ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital, while there, Cash, when left unattended for a moment left the hospital and fled on foot. At time of press, Cash has not yet been located and appears to be on the run from the law. Cash is likely facing a list of charges.

Fatal Accident on FM-62, CAMDEN, June 15, 2023 - Shortly after 5 am on June 15, 2023, a silver 2013 Honda CRV was east-bound on FM-62 (about 4 miles off US-59). The driver was possibly distracted when her vehicle left the pavement to the right. She over corrected, crossed the pavement again to the left and began to roll. Evidence at the scene suggests that the vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to rest upright, in the grass, facing west. During the roll over, the driver, Savanah Ruth Konarik, 24, of Camden was ejected and landed in the grass. Sadly, Konarik was killed on impact. An Ambulance from Acute Medical Services was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, including Corporal Adrian Ontiveros, Deputy Tobias Martinez, and Deputy Simon Prince. Trooper Sean Barnes was dispatched to investigate and was also assisted by Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported Konarik from the scene. The vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Fatal Accident at Dangerous Curve, LIVINGSTON, June 12, 2023 - Shortly before 10 am on June 12, 2023, Livingston Police Department was notified of an accident at the curve that goes under the US-59 bypass (near Bounds Autoplex). Preliminarily, the accident appears to have happened within the last 48 hours. The male driver of an older model GMC pickup, entered the curve that goes under the 59 bypass too fast. His pickup left the pavement and continued towards the creek that runs under 59, juumped an embankment, went airborne, struck a large tree and came to rest on its driver's side deep in the weeds. Officer Ryan Boyd with Livingston Police Department was dispatched to conduct a preliminary investigation. Officer Boyd was assisted by a host of other officers with LPD including Chief Matt Parrish, and the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department. The driver of the pickup was deceased. Justice of the Peace, Jamie Richardson performed an inquest at the scene. The driver had no identification on his person and is yet to be positively identified. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported the victim from the scene. The pickup was recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department.
Editor's Note: The location of this accident is a remote area in the City of Livingston. Due to it's desolate location, it's easily possible for a major accident to occur at any time during day or night and nobody knows about it until it's discovered.

Alpers was not wearing a helmet and sustained a head wound. An ambulance from Acute Medical Services was dispatched to the scene along with Polk County Chief Deputy, Ricky Childers, Sergeant Adam Norris, and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Alpers was helped to his feet by EMS personnel and held up as he walked to the Ambulance. Courtney Barrett was physically okay. Alpers was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. A friend drove Alpers' motorcycle to the nearby Corner Shell Station. Alpers was cited for no driver's license. Alpers' motorcycle was recovered by a friend.

18 Wheeler Turns Over, GOODRICH, June 6, 2023 - Shortly after 8 am on June 6, 2023, a truck driver from Shepherd was hauling a load of wood shavings. The driver attempted to make a right turn off of the Goodrich/US-59 over pass next to Goodrich School. According to the driver, and wittnesses, the driver took the turn very slowly, but the trailer slowly turned over taking the tractor portion of the rig with it. The driver was not injured. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. At time of press (8:45 am), the mess is being cleaned up by workers and Smith Towing.

Sorry Wet Sordid Affair on 59, WAKEFIELD, May 30, 2023 - At approximately 6:20 pm om May 30, 2023, the driver of a red Mitsubishi Outlander was north-bound on US-59 about 6.5 north of the Corrigan City Limits when his car began to hydroplane. The hydroplaning car slammed into the end of a guardrail. The driver of a silver Scion sedan slowed down and was slammed from behind by an 18 wheeler. Scion was knocked into the the Mitsubishi, and also struck a white Jeep. The 18 wheeler left the pavement to the left and came to rest in the mud. Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to investigate and was assisted by other Troopers from Angelina County, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Constable Mike Nettles and Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department. Amazingly there were no injuries. One person opted to go to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess and was joined by another wrecker service out of Lufkin. Any citations will be sorted out and doled out by the Texas Highway Patrol.

HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN LIVINGSTON, LIVINGSTON TEXAS, 05/23/23...
Pursuit Started in Montgomer County Ends Just North of Livingston, LIVINGSTON, May 23, 2023 - Shortly after 3 am on May 23, 2023, a Constable in Montgomery County attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver 2021 Toyota Camry. The driver decided to evade. A pursuit began on US-59 (north-bound) and reached over 130 miles per hour. The pursuit quickly made it's way into Polk County with other Montgomery County constables joining in. The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Livingston Police also assisted. The suspect passenger side tires were both successfully spiked by Sergeant Tito Reyes with the Livingston Police Department and the pursuit came to an end. The driver, 25 year old Jabrel Castleberry, of Houston, was taken into custody by Montgomery County Constables without further incident. Approximately one ounce of marijuana in a zip lock bag and an undisclosed amount of cash was found in the vehicle along with two cell phones. Castleberry was taken back to Montgomery County where he will be charged.

DRIVER PASSED OUT ON HIGHWAY, GOODRICH, 05/20/23...
Man Passed Out in Pickup on US-59, GOODRICH, May 21, 2023 - At approximately 11:30 pm on May 20, 2023, calls were placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office in regards to a white pickup parked on the road in the north-bound side of US-59 across from Loop 393. Deputy Justin Murdock was dispatched. Murdock arrived to find the man passed out in the driver's seat. When Deputy Murdock knocked on the window, the man wouldn't wake up. Murdock then banged on the window, banged on the truck door and the man was passed out hard. Other Deputies soon arrived to assist. With the truck sitting in the road causing danger to both the driver and other vehicles, and with the truck locked, the deputies had no choice but to break the window to gain access. The window was broken and the driver continued to sleep. Murdock and the other deputies shook the man and pulled him from his truck. The driver is identified as Elvin James Poole, 41, of Washington, Louisiana. EMS personnel were summoned to examine Poole to make sure he was physically not in danger. Poole was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. A vehicle inventory turned up a pistol and a bottle of Promethazine. Promethazine is a drug commonly used in prescription cough syrup. On the street it is known as lean:

A passenger in the car was killed on impact (names from the accident not yet released). Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest on the scene. A first call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported the deceased victim from the scene. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Both vehicles were recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department.
