How to do Metal Skirting Trim - Both Top-front and J-channel Tips and Tricks
Phil teaching you how to install metal skirting and trim yourself, and maybe in your own business. You can install this on homes, trailers, mobile homes and even some commercial buildings. He covers J-channel, top-front, and how to do your corners.
The material lasts forever and stands up to the punishment. You can order the metal from a metal building supply store, maybe Lowe's. Lowe's will cost more. Wiss snipes are the ones I like.
The reason we are doing all these videos is to share Phil's experience, and teach you how to make your life better. No way Phil can do it all, we love teaching and helping others.

Pex Vs Quest
Phil is showing the difference between quest and pex pipes. We tend to use pex only when doing repairs.
Quest is still good. You wouldn't want to throw everything away and start over. We prefer pex, but quest can and will do the job.

I'll show you the different. What this is, is a quest pipe. It's gray in color. There's another version. It's black. There was actually a class action lawsuit to replace all this because of some concerned flaw, but they're actually done with a lot of them are done with copper fittings and sometimes they have a great big gray quest fitting, which is a twist together.
And I'll, I'll have to show you guys how that works. If you ever had to take one a part and put it back together. But in reality, they were pretty good and they are pretty good. And I'm a, I know, plumbers are going to go nuts about it, but I'm telling you, these things will take a freeze and come back.
Take a freeze and come back. Take a freeze and come back. Now, this is Quest and this is new pex. I believe this will be pex A. You notice it's just marginally bigger. Okay. This also will take a freeze and come back the pipe itself, now I use brass fittings. This is actually from mobile manufacturer. This is a brass fitting from the mobile home manufacturer.
A lot of plumbers, including master plumbers, they use plastic elbows and plastic. And these all that works well. I honestly don't believe in them. I think they're cool and everything and you save money quite a lot of money. But I don't I don't do that. So when I when I use if I replace if and by the way, if you go to put pex on to quest, Quest will need two crimp rings.
And I don't again, I don't use copper, I use stainless steel, and I can get to crimp rings on that barbed fitting that I might put this connecting pexs into it or not coupling up to it. So if you get ready to do that, quest is still very acceptable. You wouldn't want to throw away everything. And again, I'm telling you, it's just a marginal difference in thickness.
And I'm telling you, I've seen them where they're froze up. And what busted is the faucet or the toilet or, you know, something connected to this. This is the only issues I've ever seen with either one of these is that mice will go to chewing on these just for maybe this is cold or it's hot and they chew on it and then you end up with a leak in the middle of your living room floor in like on a world I get a leak, there is no connection.
Straight pipe from bathroom to the kitchen. Well, they can chew on this just to get a flavor or something and it will spray water. So I've had to fix a bunch of them, but QUEST Pipe.

Hi. This is Chris, of Chickens For Chicks. This is where my babies are, and I would love for you to come on along with me on my journey in homesteading and learning about my chickens and doing all that fun stuff.
Here's what he's doing for me. I'm not sure if I really want him to leave this center bar in, but this gives me a huge area for my babies and he broke a door off and I was going to have to fix it.
But I'm really excited. See how big that is. He's out front right now. Building me a cage or run with the house. So we're not going to record this first run, but once we get the hang of it will record and show you on his channel how we do this. Anyways, I'm so excited.
Here is my chick brooder, which almost everything we've done so far with the chickens has been other than the wire over here and the tires. We're just reusing materials that we've had.
I've got areas on both sides so the chicks can breathe. And then, hey, y'all, I got the coolest tool ever. You see that? It took me 5 minutes to do that. It may look like crap. But OH My God, I am so happy because 5 minutes, my husband got me a sprayer and that thing is the bomb. It's a cheapy, I'll put down in my bottom where it is, where it's frame and links.
If you want to use my Amazon affiliate? I would sure appreciate it. So but just a real quick sprayer and boom, boom, boom, we were done. And after painting that my hand, I was really happy.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.
All right. So we're starting we're laps over that other rib up there and then we're going to go over 15. Now, if you're working by yourself, this is really handy to do. You go and make yourself a little slit like that. That way you can pop the line to where we're going to next 28 and a half.
If you remember, we measured up from that square over. On this outside edge. Now you can either do a four foot level like so make sure we're on both marks or you can do a chaulk line, from here to there. Particularly if it's a really long cut. This is pretty long.
We get a lot of complaints from my less experienced cohorts, that 26 gauge is hard to cut, and it is. But it's good to have a new set of snips. These are Wiss which open a little bit deeper. W-I-S-S, Home Depot sells them. I've been using Wiss for a long time. I've tried other brands, including Craftsman's, so on, so on, so on, Wiss just seems to do better.
I don't like the new lock that they put on them. It's getting in my way a lot, just like I don't like locks on tape measures because I've gotten used to not having it. So anyway, the biggest thing, is sharp snips, and you're contributing to that cut by you holding down on one side and pulling up on another. So you're pulling up and you're holding down literally trying to tear this sheet. This is 26 gauge, not 29 gauge.
So it's much, much heavier. You see how that tore? It wants to tear. You're just encouraging it with these where you want it to tear. I'm using straights, because most of the time I'm cutting straight lines. You can use left handed and right handed and cut straight.
The problem with that is that it puts your hand on one side or the other instead of in the middle. I'm right handed. I'm tend to be on the right side, but I can tilt and still cut straight. Whereas if I had right hand or left hand, I won't be able to tilt because I'm already more on that side.
But there will be people argue about that. It's been my experience and I'm just trying to help you understand. So now we've cut this angle, 28 half here, 15 here. We're going to take it up and we're going to put it in place.
This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

Ducting Work - Assembling Metal Ductwork
Connecting Metal Ductwork
Okay, guys. Now, whenever the air conditioner does work on the ductwork in your new house or to rebuild what you have, this might be what they this is a 14 inch. They have all the way down to 6 and 4 inch. It goes together like so you want to make sure this groove goes inside that not really set up to do it.
But you bend it in and it connects together like. Believe me, this stuff will cut you. So be very, very careful right there.
That lips got to go in there. And then when you get that lip in there, you put a screw see how that lip goes underneath you put a screw here, zip screws, little quarter inch screws and it holds it together. Also, if you notice, this is your pinched in side that end we'll go over that end and then you put screws and then tape on each one of those.
There you go. All different sizes do the same thing.

Diy Raised Garden Beds Cheap
This is the complete video of them putting together all the raisedbed gardening boxes. We quickly put together the boxes in one morning before they left on a job. I can't wait to get vegetables growing in them.
The guys are building several raised garden beds out of recycled metal. We left them at 36". The plan is to fill them about 3/4s of the way with local yard waste we can get free from the recycling center.
You might check with your area recycling center. If they don't have mulch you can pick up, you could try calling local tree service guys. Many times you can get mulch cheap from them. I'm also filling the bottom of the bins with trees and brush from cleaning up the park.
We wanted to do a video with all the garden beds being done, because with each one they learn new tips and tricks.
The material cost for each diy garden bed would be less than $100 if you had to buy all the material, but I bet if you looked around you'd be able to find someone with metal they want to get rid of.
⏱️⏱️Chapters⏱️⏱️

00:25 Using recycled metal to build corrugated metal raised garden beds
01:00 Plan to leave them 3 foot high, but you could cut the metal in half
02:05 Using rake and corner for the corner of each box
03:00 Material needed for each box
04:30 We are not using any wood it the boxes because the wood will rot
09:00 Phil is doing the putting together now.
14:54 First Garden box is complete
15:17 Talking about rabbit fertilizer
15:42 Putting together the second garden bed
16:00 They are using a 2by to hold the metal together while screwing
18:00 And the next one, this one they have to patch the holes
20:20 They are screwing each corner piece right into the ribs
21:20 Great way to use leftover material, or even for you to pick up cheap or free material and end up with damn near free garden beds.
22:45 Sheet is a perfect patch for the holes in the metal
24:00 Best way to put them together is put one long side and the two wide sides, then add the other long side.
25:00 You can use the 2by to apply pressure while putting the screws in, also keeps you from screwing your partner.
27:06 Use the J-channel to secure the middle panel so the box will be more stable. Also, gives you 2 growing boxes.

Jacking Up A House - Reinforcing House Beams
Phil and company are jacking up the floors in an old house. In this video, we are reinforcing house beams. We already jacked up some of these beams, but they started falling apart.
This job between jacking up the house and re-plumbing the complete house took about a week.
When reinforcing the beams, you want to screw into the beam. It won't take any of the weight, but will keep the boards attached to your beams.
One thing you can say about Phil, he has fun no matter what he's doing.

16:30 The next beam will take some maneuvering because the beam is crushed
17:20 Securing the beam between the next 2 piers
18:15 They need to jack the beam up to even be able to secure it.

What we've done now is put tape around the flange about an inch and half to two inches away where you can get the elasticool or tar to bind to the metal. And then I make sure that I cover up any nail holes that might have been there. And spread it out, try to feather it out near the tape. And that way.
When we pull the tape off, it looks like you did a perfectly good square. Even though you might have gotten over into the tape quite a bit. It's what I've been doing for years and years. And I know there's people that say you should use this, but I'm telling you this works and works good, easy to maintain, inexpensive and any kind of caulking shrinks. It really shrinks. When we pull this tape off it will have square edges. We'll show you tearing the tape off later.
I'm cleaning this and I'm going to try not to get the poo on me.
"And how can you get tar off if you get in a place that."
Any kind of oil based product oil, wd40, gasoline is kind of hard on your skin, but any kind of oil will get it off. After that it's a hot bath. There you go.
"That does look really cool."
It's looks from the ground like you know what you're doing.
"You planned it all. All right."

Hey, how are you?
We got in late last night. We bought a used lawnmower, and we didn't have a trailer out of 13 trailers. We didn't have a trailer that was ready to have one and a blowout. The spare was already somewhere else. Had gooseneck that's loaded with steel, flatbed loaded with shingles, another flatbed that's loaded with furniture and other flatbed trucks loaded with... An enclosed.
Trailer with a... anyway goes on and on. So we went ahead and loaded this riding mower than I bought her into the back of the pickup truck. And we use the two bys and rolled it up in there. But I'm going to show you what we're going to do to unload it instead of man handling it. There happens to be a the ditch you can actually drive back off into the ditch and quite often up in the tailgate if it's steep enough the tailgate will be right up against the other side of the ditch. You want to make sure you don't have mud in it. In this case, we have a bank. We can back up to and we're going to roll it off on to that bank.
This little things that I've learned along the way and I know that some of you guys might already know that, but maybe somebody doesn't. And I can help them. Here we go.
Ta da... Hope somebody got a way to get a truck loaded with something, if you don't have a ramp like motorcycles and so on. I've done that, a few times, four wheelers. On and on, you can do that with the ditch, without the ramps and without all the muscle.

#plumbers #electricians #bizop
Transcript:
Which is probably why now all of a sudden there's this real fancy automatic $300 flare tool, available online because the air conditioning guys are making so much money that they can afford to buy platinum covered, they'll be something there'll be a 2 to $3000 flaring tool come out. They'll massage your back while you're doing it. You put it on like a armor thing. Believe me, these guys are making way too much money.
But so are electricians and plumbers. The those guys don't. They buy big buildings and fancy trucks and I believe too greedy. And then all the inspectors are all kind of their buddies, you know, even though they fail them from time to time because they all believe in having high end stuff done. Is it necessary? No. Are you going to deal with it?
Yes. You’ll have to deal with it. The fact that you know, that they're ripping you off. That don't make you feel better that they're making a huge, exorbitant amount of money that doesn't make you better either. But you don't. You didn't go through the route of learning how to be an air conditioned guy or a plumber or elect... electrician. You learn to do something else.
So that's the choices that they have now. By the way, the guys who do the actual work, they don't get paid that much. They don't get paid as much as a dump truck driver generally. Unless you live in a union town or state. They don't get paid that much. The owner, that’s who gets paid. So you really have to learn about air conditioning and then become an owner in order to make the money that they're making for the company.
So don't be so mad at the technician who comes out because he doesn't get paid that huge money. It's the owner of the business. And that might be the technician that you're dealing with. If he's the just starting out, he's just putting that money into his pocket. Is that a three ton air conditioning updraft or downdraft? It's like with the split system, not like this three grand, three grand.
But they're not going to charge you four or five grand to put it in. They're going to charge you anywhere from 7 to 12000. That's not a new that's reusing the ductwork you already have. So if we know that there's some pipe to be put in and there's some Freon to be put in, there's labor, we can allow thousand dollars. So we got four grand in and the charging somewhere between seven and 12.
Tell me if there is a lot of profit in that. Plumbers charging $2,500 to put in water heaters, a lot of profit. The water heater is anywhere from 6 to $800. Check valves, 100 bucks or so expansion tank, 40-50, labor to put it in less than less than 500. So you're at seven 800 total charge and 2500. Yeah.
Plumbers, electricians, electricians in the future will be making a ton of money because you don't know. It's like your mechanic you don't know how to fix. You did not learn that they did. They're the ones out in the weather everyday getting dirty. So you're going to have to deal with it. Yeah. Hopefully you can find somebody. This makes a modest amount of money.
All right. We'll let you go.

Probably would or should. There's a lot of road noise, sorry. Should put valley foam in. Particularly when it snows, the water will go up that valley and go down underneath it, and will find a hole. This is valley foam. It comes in rolls as soon as you unroll this you need to prepare. It will continue to expand, and it expands to two and a half inches thick. So, it's meant to grow to the odd the angles that you put these valleys on and fill these ribs up with foam. So, the trick is going to be take these screws out, about 16 inches back that you've already put in. The screws should be an inch or two away so that they don't end up being in on the wrong side of the valley foam.
So, what you have got to do is take those screws out go to lift it up, and stick it underneath that edge. But uh, it's a pain sometimes because you've got deep hooks on that edge, and slide it underneath there with the sticky side, which would be this side here and it turns into clear right there down underneath. And then you, we'll show you how you can just pull it all off. As long as you keep it there. Under the roll there's a little strip to help you could grab it, put that underneath there, and you want to keep it low or you're going to end up cutting your, your peal off and you'll have to reach under there and get it again. It's kind of a pain, but just keep it low and ends up sticking like that. See that, I cut it so I have to reach under there and grab it anyway. Just keep peeling it up and then that will stay in place and you put your screws back in.
There you go.

I recorded how my babies grow each day. This is my first set of baby chicks. I ordered them from Cackle Hatchery. They are the Crested “Top Hat” Special and the Feather Footed Bantam Assortment Special.
I ordered 10 of each mix. If I had it to do again, I would not have ordered the mixes because I'm using these to start a breeding program. I love my babies, but business wise ordering specific chicks would have been a much better plan.
We also have 1 guinea and three silkie babies that survived a freak storm in this group. Enjoy watching them grow. I will have them all linked into a playlist so you can watch them. Chick flicks to enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLn3fko4h1DljAYO9YWVOCErGTrn3v11Yk

Okay. Let's see what happens here. And everybody is excited. Look at that. This is day two for my bitty ones to get their grass. Look at that. They're just crazy. They like it. They like it. I think that might be a buff or a white polish. Right before I came out this morning, I was looking on the website trying to figure out what the heck I got.
Now, the three older silkies. I don't know what they are. My husband bought them along with my showgirl rooster and showgirl female or. I have a splash showgirl rooster and then a showgirl or a splash female and she's laying. She's the only one on my hens right now laying. But of course, a good portion of my hens are stressed the f*ck out.
But hopefully it won't be much longer. And my husband will get my other oh, and I have an incubator coming in on Monday. I thought it was going to be here Friday, but looks like it'll be Monday, so I'll do an unboxing of it and then I'm going to snatch the eggs that my silkie hen, who's supposed to go broody.
Has not gone broody. Heifer. That's so cute to watch them fight over it, getting the choice morsels. As you can see, I got a pretty mixed bag. I know that I want to breed my silkies, but I'm just not sure on the rest of them, I'm going to probably keep the polish, but if I have any doo doo doo doo D'Uccle, I don't know if I'm saying that right or not, but if I have any of those, I'll probably trade or try to trade them for either cochins or silkies.
Who knows? I think that one is over there by the food bowl is a partridge. I just don't know if it's a cochin partridge or if it's silkie. I'm thinking cochin because he doesn't have a black beak. But I don't know, we'll keep finding out. This is June 10th and these babies hatched March or May 26th. Not the big ones, but the others.
So isn't she pretty I got two that look just like that little silver one have no idea what they are. This is all brand new to me. So part of why I'm recording every day. So I can go back and look and see what I get. Here, we got Mr. Boss Butt over here flicking his feathers. He's been crowing.
Now, he's going to stop. There he goes. He's telling them girls I'm boss. He's been trying to get it the last couple days. So hopefully I'll have some babies from them or eggs something. He puffs his sh*t all up, shakes his feathers around. He is spoiled. The lady I got him from her granddaughter carried him around and bathed him and blow dried him.
I think he was even an inside outside chicken. But there you go. Chick flick of the day for June tenth.
