Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.
Guess what? This is an unusual thing. I've never seen before. And I've been around mobile homes a lot. This is a Marlette, m-a-r-l-e-t-t-e mobile home, and it actually has instead of a slide out, like you see in campers. This has a tilt out so it rolls back. In this case, they actually built a roof over like building a barn over a mobile home to keep the roof from having issues.
I don't do that, even if people want to pay me to do it. I won't do it. A lot of money, it's not a waste, but it's a lot of money to do the same thing that I can do. If somebody else wants to do it, they can do it. But they built it over here and you can see the slope right here. And then this trim that you would put in. This thing is sloped that way so that you can roll it in. Let's just show you. Come on in with me.
And this is a ceiling that's sloped the same way.
So this, this part would have laid down in here. And there's a hinge. If you look down here. Big hinge all the way down So all of this would have laid down back here. And then opened up and then you have trimmed it out. That's pretty unusual. I've not ever seen one. I'm sure there's somebody that has Marlette and I looked it up and they've been in business for 60 years.
I guess they're still rolling the way. I thought I'd mention to you what I think is unusual to show you what I think is unusual.
This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts we're Americans. See you next time.

Today, that's a simplex jack. What you can do is you can lift heavier things, but it's generally not something I use for multi-ton. It will go to that mechanical jack. You can use the, the longer side and you can use the shorter side. It a, when you want to go up, you pull this little handle right here up, then it goes up both here and here. And it's driven with the gears inside. So we're going up, we're going down now. That's what we're doing today with this.

Chick Flick June 9, 2022 - Silkie, Cochin, & Polish Chicks Growing
Welcome to the chick flick of the day, June 9, 2022. I think they have been in the new brooder for 2 or 3 days. Something I am learning, over and over, about chickens: They don't like ANY changes.
My first set of baby chicks growing up. They hatched these babies out on May 23. We got them on May 24. I ordered them from Cackle Hatchery and have been super happy with what I got. Sometimes the camera jus moves off the babies.

I recorded how my babies grow each day. This is my first set of baby chicks. I ordered them from Cackle Hatchery. They are the Crested “Top Hat” Special and the Feather Footed Bantam Assortment Special ordered 10 of each mix. If I had it to do again, I would not have ordered the mixes because I'm using these to start a breeding program. I love my babies, but business wise ordering specific chicks would have been a much better plan.
We also have 1 guinea and three silkie babies that survived a freak storm in this group. Enjoy watching them grow. I will have them all linked into a playlist so you can watch them. Chick flicks to enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLn3fko4h1DljAYO9YWVOCErGTrn3v11Yk

Hi. This is Chris of Chickens For Chicks. This is where my babies are, and I would love for you to come on along with me on my journey in homesteading and learning about my chickens and doing all that fun stuff.
See how this goes today? This is our chick flick of June. Hold on. I have a better hold of that camera. Okay.
June ninth. These are my fuzzy-wuzzies. Let's see if anybody'll can see me. I had to turn their heat lamp off. Because I think it was getting too hot. You got everybody back there.
And that one right there. Everybody's over there. Kind of harder to get in this brooder. It's of harder to keep track of who's doing what, trying to get them to come over. And there's somebody.
It looks like they might be hot. Which is kind of understandable, it's kind of hot. That's my girl. There we go. There we go. Some of you are remembering. There's my little black one. He's starting to remember. There we go babies. Foxy! There we go bubbies. Look at them babies. Look at those babies. All the babies. All the babies.
See? You don't care. Trying to get them to where they can on my hand, like they used to in the room. Come on, babies. Come on. There we go. Foxy. No. Look at those wing feathers. Look at the wing feathers.
Just got to be patient. Foxy. No. There we go. There's my curious bubby. By the way, lesson learned yesterday. If you think you might have an area that your babies can get out of, you might want to fix it because one of these little pop top bubbas ended up getting out and he ended up in my husband's tool shed.
Luckily, my son came home, and was able to help me find him. That one's circling. Mmkay, I'm going to have to end this chick flick.

Okay, this is take two of my chick flick because evidently this morning I forgot to turn my camera on.
Ooh, you guys aren't fooled, are you? You want some goodies?
You're feathered and I don't know what else, you're a feathered-foot. You're feathered-foot, you're a Phenix. You're a feathered-foot. There's one of these over here. What did I just not bring the goods? How about now? Now, I got the goods. You guys, do you realize you have the same exact thing in there?
They are exactly two weeks old today. Today is Monday, June third... No, June 6th. I see feather-feets, top-hats.
These are supposed to be a mix of Cochins, Silkies, a few Phenixes, and Polish. But I'm not for positive. What all we got. That's part of why I'm doing the daily chick thing. And the other thing is, I'm just totally obsessed with my chickens. Just totally obsessed. Look at that. Those are so cute. They're too cute for words.
Just too cute for words. Just too cute for words. Just too cute for words.

Shower Wall Panel Installation
How to install an Allen and Roth platform shower system. It has 9 pieces that go together sideways with tongue and groove. They will need to be cut down particularly because this is a mobile home bathroom.
You can use a razor knife to cut the shower down, but after a test cut, we used a skill saw. The reason we are doing the shower/tub surround a bit different is we are putting an antique clawfoot tub into this mobile home. You get to learn and see that it can be done.
You will seal everywhere, top, bottom, and foam for the plumbing.

00:25 Allen and Roth Shower System
00:40 Is tongue-and-groove shower system simple to cut?
00:54 First look at the shower kit
01:30 Looks like you're putting it up with double stick tape
02:06 Checking the directions
02:30 Nine pieces that will need to be cut down esp. on mobile home
02:55 Take a look at what the panels look like
03:10 Looks like they are putting it together like a floor
03:35 Numbered on the back side
04:00 There's number one

04:32 After checking instructions you can cut with a razor knife
04:45 He's using a skill saw and cutting the front
05:00 He's test cutting to make sure not to damage the material
05:10 Not bad so here we go
05:40 Cuts easily
06:00 Turn it over, supposed to be divided into 4 sections
07:00 Not doing the shower pan, looking at the instructions
07:15 If you need to sit on top of a bathtub, you need to sit on the lip
07:50 Make sure and follow your instruction if you're doing it differently
08:20 Where we are at on the instructions
08:35 Tape instructions for your sections
09:00 Using a drywall trick to speed up your marking
09:35 Your tape-line it on the marks you've made
10:00 It's easy to cut
10:15 You'll want to make sure everything is pushed down on the one side
10:45 Using liquid nails
11:10 Don't want to get within an inch of the lap
13:05 Placing the panel--kind of tricky get back off the tape
13:55 Using a razor knife, because no nails
14:05 Clay is running his finger in front of where he's pulling and that seems to be working
14:18 Last one
14:35 Did he cut it right? Installing the first piece
15:20 Want to rub your hand over the whole panel to make sure everything sticks
15:45 We're putting an antique cast iron tub into this mobile home. So, need to do it a bit different.
16:30 Installing the second panel
18:12 Panel three
18:45 It's really easy to install, just about anyone could do it
19:25 Why there's a gap at the top

Using What You Have Bale of Straw Lying Around
I bought this bale of straw way back when I first got the chicks. The guy who was taking care of the babies at first didn't want to use that much straw. It set in one of our empty rentals...Until we had a torrential downpour and I needed something to dry my chicks in the new barn.
That is why we keep damn near everything we buy. Never know when it will become useful.

Hi. This is Chris, of Chickens For Chicks. This is where my babies are, and I would love for you to come on along with me on my journey in homesteading and learning about my chickens and doing all that fun stuff.
I am feeding my baby's eggs, one because it's rainy and nasty. And I wanted to give them some herbs, but also because I bought this straw way back when I first got these babies and the guy who was taking care of them didn't want it didn't want it.
But I came out here and you can see everybody soaking wet. They're soaking wet. I don't want to lose any of my babies. So I threw hay in here or a straw and I may throw some more to get them dry. That is another case of using what you had. I had this straw sitting in, I had a whole bale of it.
In fact, I was in trouble with my husband because I put the damn thing in the back of my truck. But. And you see that little splash Rooster right there and that little splash rooster right there. They're learning to crow. Come and get some. Come on, babies. Come and get some. But you can look at Dropkick, Powder. Where's Dina? Dina Butt
They look like drowned rats. I think they've been out here in the rain this whole time. But even Babe and them, look. Look at their crests. It's horrible. They act like I kill them when I do stuff like this. But then you look at them. Oh, it's warm. Oh, it's warm. Because, I mean, Arkansas did one of its crazy assed things and the weather just changed.
We had to turn all of our air conditioner down or on a hot economy because the house was so fricking cold this morning. I was grabbing the blanket from my husband. We keep on the couch, but as you can see, they are slowly forgiving me. I hate havening to traumatize them, but damn. So it's official. I have two splash co--.
Hey, hey, hey. Leave her alive. Sorry, that hen was grabbing one of my black babies. Anyways, I have to splash roos, I have a blue polish roo, I have a blue polish roo. And then in here I have a Mottled Houdan rooster and a splash polish rooster. And the rest of them are girls. So I got kind of lucky.
The only problem is my Houdan. I can't find any girls for him. I'm going to have to probably wait till next year. My husband and I are planning. I really want to keep him. I might end up haveing to make a damn bachelor's pad. Although these guys pretty much had their pecking order taken care of and the head pecker is Jenny, which I think Jenny is a Jack.
So anyways, lesson of the day, bribery works most of the time, and sometimes you have to scare them to do what's right for them. Oh, and I replace the girls with hay because they do not like those pads at all. Don't like it. All right.

Chicken Coop Bedding What I Decided To Use #Shorts
I have been trying different bedding for the coops, and here's what I learned.
Hey, guys. I wanted to show you something I thought was interesting. My husband and I chose not to put a floor in my chicken coops. And this right here is horse pellets. You see how dry this is? And you can see there's like holes for air. Now, I'll show you over here. This. You see how wet that is?
This is wood chips. And my game plan is to get some saw... some of the pellets, and put them in here. So that's my idea. If you don't have a floor, probably even if you do have a floof, that I'd rather have the horse pellets.

Deck Building - Why He Does it This Way
So I changed it so I wouldn't have to square off and then do a jog. So how do I get the 4x4s? It's a lot easier to cut them before you put them up there.
And then trying to take a sawzall and not cut into the house. So what I normally do is I measure up from whenever we’re level with this support here.
Measure it from the block to the top. I'm going to add 28 and a half inches, which ends up being the height, which can be 30, 32. I don't like the 42 that they use because when you sit down either in the house or on your deck, you can't see over the handrails. It's not comfortable when you sit in on your chair because ends up being the glass is up here.
The arm would be right on that 30 inch, 32, 28, 29 inch area. These people are a little shorter leaning over a little bit. So I made it where it's not very high. We're going to put a 2x6 on top of that.
So if you notice we’ve got all this put in place and I'll show you the next part we're going to put on, and I’ll show you each step as we go.
00:00 Intro
00:22 Changed things up to make the customer safer
00:40 Much easier to cut your 4x4s and then put them up
00:55 Want to measure from block to top and add 28.5"
01:05 Don't do 42" because it's too high for comfort

People's Convoy Springfield MO
We're bring you something a little different. Phil and I (Chris-his wife) and Clay all went to watch and support the truckers and the People's Convoy.
I figured we would upload the convoy film. How often will you see over 7,000 trucks and vehicles all at the same time, fighting for the same thing?
There was talk that the convoy had grown to over 12,000 vehicles. We drove over an hour and a half to support the convoy. This is the footage from my camera. It's Chris.
There will be another video that I put up for the video Clay took.

Applying Grout To Tile Floor - Mobile Home
Today we're regrouting a mobile home tile floor. Usually, if you put tile down in a mobile home, you want to replace the particle board with plywood. Then install your tile. That will prevent trouble down the road.
We use a regular house beater attached to a drill to hand mix the grout. You can pick that and the cheap towels to clean up the grout at any thrift store.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.
So, I'm sitting down because I'm fixing grout that has come out, mostly because this is probably put on particle board floor than a mobile home originally had. I wouldn't recommend it.
If you're going to do ceramic tile, you need to do regular plywood. Take out the old particle board has that once it gets any water to it, it will. Do this kind of thing move probably deteriorates, but this is this is going to last for quite a while and yet I would believe so.
We're going to fill this in and we've hand mixed it with a beater. I guess you can take them over and show them that. But. We're going to put this in instead of using a rubber float or a rubber trowel to put it in, I just use a finishing knife I've not have not had any problems, and I'm sure there's some guys rolling over in his grave. Oh my God. He's not doing that rubber float thing. But this is something that I've tried and it doesn't do a worse job, it does as good a good if not more, because I'm so familiar with this.
So we're going to go through all this. He's going to show you that, how he mixes it, what the drill looks like, and the beater that comes from your kitchen type stuff. I just go to a thrift store.
I used to buy the electric beater at Wal-Mart, and it would. The beater wouldn't hold out because the gears are plastic. So I quit doing that and just using a battery powered drill, which will show you. So here I am. We'll come back whenever we start to the next step.
This is the drill. Just a regular. Batter mixer shows what it looks like. This is just a regular batter mixer. And I am. You get your sink dirty when you're cleaning. That's it.
Here you go, you can explain since the boss man is here.
Boss man is tired. It's all scrubbed up, just have to knock off the dust when it dries, it should be somebody else.
But, you know, we scrubbed with the towels. Pretty intense work, right Dad?
It's a lot better not showing a whole bunch of cracks, it looks much more even, the yeah.
This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts We Americans see you next time.

So remember, I showed you guys to take off the batten strips and then hammer down the nails and staples that are standing up around your hammer down. Then you take your drywall mud and you put it on. You can do it that way, or you can do it this way.
You want to make sure you get enough mud to cover. And then that if you down, the tape will blister up when you put mud on top of it later. Which you'll do a second coat. Lay it right on top of where that crack is.
I know I'm making it look easy, but I've done it for a long time and I just can't help it. Perhaps we'll show you guys how to do the drywall finishing it. It's not something you can learn overnight if it is. Then I've been pretty stupid because it took me a long time to get any kind of good. So anyway, you pull that down. Tight as you can. There's your first coat and then we'll finish it out, which I'll do is I'll put mud on like so if you just have a six-inch knife, you can do it with a six-inch. But I prefer to burst out with a ten and then a twelve. Then you spread it out.
But. Got to do one side. So that the knife will be able to cover when you go over it, like so. Do the other side know a lot of guys won't do but one side at a time? I understand.
But I can do both sides so and I don't I'm very much sanding. I don't do any sand as a rule. And normally, I put it on with a one size knife, and then I use a bigger knife, like if I put on with the six, I would pull it off with an eight-inch knife.
But you don't have to do both sides, you can do one side of everything, come back a bit after drys and do the other side, but there they'll be pretty flat. And then you just do that everywhere. Now I imagine that other people will have to work at it longer and don't feel bad.
That's part of it. But we'll get it. We're getting away with that great big hump. We're making it look more like a house. So we'll finish it and then we'll texture it, and I'll show you when I texture.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.
All right. That looks like it'll be fine. A lot of times, people use a rubber float to push it in. You push the grout in, and that's okay. Very, very familiar myself with a six-inch knife or such. And it's very handy for me. This is a good example of why I don't like to use steel, aluminum, non stainless compared to stainless can be sitting out around and never rust up. Whereas this one might have been clean.
And now it's all rusted up. And that would transfer into this white and those pits, little holes in that knife from the rust end up making holes. And when you finish. So, I don't normally I probably got that at a thrift store or something. It's good. It's good if you can continually oil them. A lot of times we're in a hurry patch job and doesn't get cleaned well enough or oiled.
Taking the time with a little bit of oil to keep it from rusting. But that's why I use stainless. They're hard on your hands, but...

Transcript:
Hey friends, we're going to remodel this bathroom. Drew, if you can pan around and we're going to go through to the floor and the closet. So today we're going to tear up this ceramic, pull up the trim and move this cabinet, move this toilet and first thing we do is we set up outside, got materials. I need to take you guys all the way through the journey, because a lot of times, like when I first started out, I would bid jobs.
I didn't do, man. I knew exactly how long it would take. I might take less time, but I always forgot how much time it took to go to the store and gather up all the tools and bring it here and then take it back. That would be the part that I missed. And then I was like, Man, where are my losing all this time? So if you had to go to a job for two weeks and I didn't have all that gas money and figured out I just had it all focused on the job, which is good as an estimator but not good. And considering you have to go get materials. Okay, so at some point I'll show you guys all the things that I do from start to finish so that you can do the same thing.
But the first thing we're going to do is take the door off. So I'm going to beat it up and it doesn't get in your way. Take out this cabinet and take out the toilet and then we'll start on the trim and then the floor. This will be messy. So this is a lot of people's buddy. You end up hugging him when you're driving a bus or whatever, when you don't feel good.
Porcelain feels really nice on a hot fever day because you know, the cold buddy like this. Anyway, this buddy has got to be removed so that we put new ceramic tile. So the first thing we do is we shut the water off here, flush the toilet here, which I might not take credit for. The guy behind the camera, Drew, did.
And that means that the majority of the water's gone. There's still be some. So then we're going to disconnect this line and disconnect this line because this is a hard line well it’s flexible. We can leave it, but we're going to disconnect. They’re will be some more water, because there's a little bit in here that'll probably dribble out. Generally, when I do that, I'll leave a little towel to, you know, pick up that water.
So we'll have it right there. And then when we get that loose, we'll disconnect these rusty bolts, if we can, without cutting them. And then we're going to pick this toilet up and we'll see how we get a towel in here. We will put the toilet in here now why have we got that towel? First of all, the wax ring and whatever else is on the wax ring will get on the tub, that means work.
This towel is something I picked up of goodwill and garage sales and such. So also that toilet could easily scratch or damage this tub, we’re going that ease it in. And before we take it out of here, put it back over there, some days later, we rocket back and forth. That water will come out of the trap that's built into the toilet.
And we show you where that’s at: right down water gets hung up in here. So you rock that toilet back and forth before you bring it out of there. That's why you got the towel in there, because you're going to have that action. So we'll do all that and we'll come back to you.

Complete Mobile Home Bathroom Remodel Cast Iron Tub Pt 3
We completely pull out the old bathroom, the tub, floor, remodel it from the frame up. The bathroom ends up with an antique claw-foot bathtub... In a mobile home.
Any time you're completely replacing your floor, you don't want to run each layer of the floor the same way. To give the floor strength and avoid humps, you go across the joists. You also want to add two bys anywhere you have boards meeting and along the edge of the floor.

Easy Way to Mix Batch of Mud or Thin Set
Ealy Way to Mix Sm Batch of Mud or Thin Set
This is a method we use with a battery power drill and a beater from like a kitchen. This case we're mixing grout, but you can do fast mud, thin set for ceramic tile If you in small batches lets you get away with not having to make a huge mess in this case we're doing it on the tailgate of the truck. Kind of got in the habit of that because we learned from the fat boy who didn't like to bend over and I like what a great idea.
You know we don't get whatever area dirty just the tailgate of my truck which I can wash off a car wash or whatever as if.

Transcripts:
Hi. This is Chris, of Chickens For Chicks. This is where my babies are, and I would love for you to come on along with me on my journey in homesteading and learning about my chickens and doing all that fun stuff.
Hey guys. I thought I'd bring you out. It's kind of windy today, but I thought I'd bring out. You do a video.
A video about where we're going to do our raised bed gardens. My husband and I were out looking today, and I know him. He will have that done before I have time to talk about it. So I'm going to show you. Okay. There's this area right here by my pool deck. We're going to actually start with our first raised bed right in here.
He plans on... You can see how crappy my yard looks right now. He plans on all of this area is probably going to be raised. Bed gardens. Not sure if we'll get that far. And then we're going to fill these tires with different plants and stuff. And this is just my yard. There's like I was saying, this is just our yard.
I have a five acre trailer park that we'll be working on. And I am not saying I'm perfect on gardening in any way, shape or form. I am inviting y'all along to journey with me and learn with me and a garden. I'm sure I'll screw up. That's about how it goes. Anyways, I just thought I would do this quick video showing you where we're considering doing the garden beds.
And we talked about moving this Jacuzzi because right now we're not using it. We're going to wait until we have more space, because what I showed you is the yard is about half of our yard and then we have multiple other trailer parks, trailers so. Anyways have a great day.

Easy Way To Cover Screws on White material
Easy Way To Cover Screws on White
All right, guys. It's something I carry in my truck door all the time. Got a white surface. I might not have a white screw. Or if I have a white screw, it might be skinned up, I can take this white out or in this case, big cover it, and then I can just believe it or not, that stuff works really well for staying on there.
So that's something you can do at your own home. You might actually have that in your desk. There you go. Simple. Simple.
