"Salam Affandina" (Arabic: سلام أفندينا‎, lit. 'Peace/Salute of Our Lord/Master') was the national anthem of Egypt from 1871–1922 and 1936–1958. It was renamed "Egyptian Republican Anthem" (Arabic: السلام الجمهوري المصري‎) in 1953 after the Egyptian revolution of 1952. It was instrumental and had no official lyrics. It was adopted in 1871 (by the Khedivate of Egypt), 1914 (by the Sultanate of Egypt), 1936 (by the Kingdom of Egypt), 1953 (by the Egyptian Republic).

The United Arab Republic (UAR; Arabic: الجمهورية العربية المتحدة‎) was a sovereign state in the Middle East from 1958 to 1971. It was initially a union between Egypt and Syria until 1961. Egypt continued to be known officially as the United Arab Republic until 1971. "Walla Zaman Ya Selahy" (Arabic: والله زمان يا سلاحي‎) was the national anthem of the United Arab Republic (UAR) until 1971 and national anthem of Egypt until 1979. Though the UAR disbanded in 1961, Egypt retained it as the official name of the state until 1971, and used its national anthem.

In 1949, the Soviet occupation zone of Allied Occupied Germany became a country that was called German Democratic Republic. For the anthem, the poet Johannes R. Becher wrote the lyrics. "Der er et yndigt land" (There is a Lovely Land) is the civil national anthem of Denmark. It is adopted in 1835. Denmark is one of a handful of nations which have a separate “royal” anthem from the people’s “national” anthem. The royal anthem is one of the oldest in the world; adopted in 1780. Special events for the royal house are marked with the royal anthem. The lyrics first appear in Johannes Ewald’s historical drama “The Fishermen” and specifically names heroes in the wars against Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries. The composer of the music is unknown; originally the composer of the music for the play, Johann Hartmann, was thought to be the composer, It has been pointed out that the melody significantly precedes Ewald’s lyrics, and it could have been based on an existing tune. Officially, “Kong Christian” is both the national and royal anthem and has equal status with “Der er et yndigt land”, the national anthem.

The state anthem was a combination of the two anthems, already in official use. The first verse of the Czech anthem was played first followed immediately by the first verse of the Slovak anthem. The official name was "Štátna hymna Československej socialistickej republiky" (National Anthem of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic).

The Kingdom of Sikkim (Sikkimese: འབྲས་ལྗོངས། Drenjong) was a hereditary monarchy from 1642 to 16 May 1975 in the Eastern Himalayas. It was ruled by Chogyals of the Namgyal dynasty. Sikkim became an Indian state in 1975. "Jahan Bagcha Teesta Rangeet" was presented to the Sikkimese king (Chogyal), on the occasion of the coronation anniversary celebrations in 1970. The song became popular amongst the Sikkimese population. Though this is not the National Anthem of Sikkim, the song may be termed the "Heart Anthem of the Sikkimese".
