People Throughout History Have Been Dying To Follow These Fashion Trends
You thought wavy brows were a ridiculous fashion trend to die for? Think again - people way back in history were dying long before. Lucky for us, now we know better than to fall victim to something as killer as radioactive makeup. Corsets are a different thing altogether.
It is not cheap to be stylish and trendy. You think wearing high heels can be dangerous for your health? How about having to bind your feet so tight, they will only grow up to three inches? The lotus feet trend was huge in 10th century China, where women with smaller feet had much higher value. They would break and restructure the bones of their feet, which in turn meant limited walking, neverending infections and a lifetime of pain. So wear those stilettos, sister!
Thing strobing and contouring is too much? History has been dotted with the wealthy, both men and women, using lead-based makeup to make themselves present wealthy. <a href="https://rumble.com/v3t6dz-dove-cameron-reveals-she-hates-her-pale-skin-in-twitter-post.html" target="_blank">Pale skin</a> meant you didn’t need to expose yourself to the sun’s rays in the field. But the poison would eat away at the skin and ultimately rot the teeth.
Speaking of rotten teeth, they too were once a big fashion statement of the wealthy. The Elizabethan era brought sugar to the tables of aristocrats, but not oral hygiene. Sugar was pricey, but dental decay meant you had plenty in your coffers to afford cake for dinner. Yikes!
Women today rebel against something as simple as a bra, but before we had these cups attached with a string to poke in our flesh, ladies of yesteryear would wear tightlacing <a href="https://rumble.com/v32r1o-model-wears-corset-23-hours-a-day-to-achieve-20-inch-waist.html" target="_blank">corsets</a> to make their waists as tiny as possible. It wasn’t without a price though, as tightlacing mashed their organs together, broke their ribs and made fashion followers faint with shortness of breath.
Men weren’t without their guilty pleasures too. In Edwardian era, toffs would wear high collars that made the girls swoon over them. It was the guys who did the swooning for appearance, as the collars were so stiff, they cut off blood supply to the brain. No wonder they were so silly!
Keep watching for more historically deadly fashion trends!

Some Foods Were Never Meant To Be On The Same Plate Together
Some foods were never meant to be on the same plate together, So how did some modern-age, stomach-turning recipes come to be? Blame it on the history!
Dinner between the 1950s to the 1970s had tons of strange food like salads encased in Jell-O, but what was the big idea behind all this weird food? War and money!
Starting in the Middle Ages chefs practiced the <a href="https://rumble.com/v3n9lz-prank-corner-the-art-of-subtlety.html" target="_blank">art of subtleties</a>, the process of arranging food to give it a different appearance. Such as a dip resembling a fish or a dessert made to look like a castle. These dishes were all about presentation and not so much about taste. It showed you were wealthy enough to waste food and pay someone to prepare the dish.
Jump ahead to WWII when soldiers were forced to eat processed foods like SPAM. When they came back they were used to <a href="https://rumble.com/v41s03-cincinnati-bengals-host-annual-canned-food-drive.html" target="_blank">canned foods and ingredients</a>. Since many wives had joined the workforce, they weren’t cooking as much anymore. Forcing them to rely more on processed foods.
Meals had to be simple and easy, but a little preparation time was okay. Brands like Jell-O, SPAM and Hellmann’s invented crazy recipes for busy wives. These strange creations were a throwback to the subtleties trend of the Middle Ages and became hugely popular in kitchens throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Knowing these facts it really makes you appreciate mom’s meatloaf, doesn’t it?

Ten Uncommon Food Related Phobias People Suffer From
Lots of people have phobias and they are very common. Phobia is an anxiety disorder where the person has extreme fear of something. There are phobias for nearly anything you can think of. The most common ones are Arachnophobia, which is fear of spiders, Acrophobia, the fear of heights, and Claustrophobia, a fear of closed tight spaces.
These are all pretty reasonable fears and most people either know someone who has it or some even have it themselves. Some more unusual phobias are when people are fearful of food items or food related things. Many people probably haven’t encountered someone with these types of phobias, but this video discusses ten food related phobias you might not know about. There are some very interesting items on this list and you might even think that it was impossible to be scared of some of these things. There are phobias of all kinds and it is important to remember that when watching this video! Are any of these familiar to you?
One of the more interesting phobias that appear on this list is Deipnophobia. This is the fear of dining with others or just dining in general. Most people who suffer from this love to eat alone and by themselves in silence. Don’t mistake this for preferring to be alone and eating, Deipnophobics are actually scared of dining and fear it.
Another one is Oenophobia, which is the fear of wine. Who knew that wine, the alcoholic beverage, can actually make people scared of it or fear it. This problem stems from being unable to choose which wine to drink, both for an event or to drink alone. The inability to choose which wine will satisfy most of the people leads to anxiety, and thus fearing wine and the choice of wine. These are very interesting <a href="https://rumble.com/v30p30-top-10-bizarre-phobias.html" target="_blank">phobias</a> and they get even more interesting! Keep watching!
Lachanophobia is the fear of vegetables and it gives nausea. This person must have a hard life because vegetables are everywhere. They come as part of almost every meal and are very hard to avoid. They must have some great vegetable substitutes in their diet! Many people in fact have unbalanced diets due to lack of vegetables and experience many problems with their health. This is a very unfortunate phobia since it is taking away a big part of a diet and you are missing out on all the benefits of vegetables.
Even some of the best foods have phobias attached to them, such as peanut butter and chocolate! Arachibutyrophobia, or the <a href="https://rumble.com/v5md4r-top-10-phobias-hardest-to-avoid.html" target="_blank">fear</a> of peanut butter, stems from people scared they will suffocate while eating peanut butter. Since peanut butter can be pretty thick, people are afraid of suffocating. They really hate when it sticks to the roof of their mouth, this is unfortunate since peanut butter is delicious!
Xocolatophobia is the fear of chocolate and is equally as confusing, since most people love chocolate. They often find it disgusting and must wash their hands immediately after touching anything with it. This list has many more interesting phobias to discuss. It is very interesting to see what types of phobias are out there in the world.

China To Use Social Credit Ratings For Keeping Score On Its Citizens
If you think that trying to keep your credit score respectable is tough, China is taking this concept to an extreme new level, and everyone will be scrutinized under the radar!
Wherever you go, whatever you do, you are being judged. It is something straight out of science fiction but it is closer to reality than you would ever expect.
Namely, by 2020 <a href="https://rumble.com/v43giz-china-dismisses-trumps-emotional-venting.html" target="_blank">China</a> will implement a system to rank its 1.3 billion citizens. Known as the Social Credit Score, it will rate citizens based on a set of criteria such as social connections, political ties, wealth, compliance, meaning you will be judged on both your associates and your spending habits.
Some of China’s biggest <a href="https://rumble.com/v3z4qn-the-tech-company-that-gives-your-workout-a-meaning.html" target="_blank">tech companies</a> have already begun government-sanctioned trials. Web chat apps will allow users to see their score. The idea of the Social Credit Score has received mixed ratings. The Chinese government claims it will reward honesty and trust. “Trustworthy” citizens will find it easier to travel and they will be offered more deals and discounts.
To the contrary, a low score may impact job opportunities and upward mobility. The critics to the Social Credit Score see a dark outcome. They think the Chinese government will monitor all forms of human activity. Gathering so much data on its citizens might mean the end of personal privacy.
Some U.S. officials warn that this move brings China closer to becoming a police state. In two years, we will see how the Social Credit Score actually takes shape. Either way it is a brave, new world!

This Bamboo Tower Creates 26 Gallons Of Water A Day From Thin Air
Imagine having to walk for several hours a day for just a glass of water. That is the cruel reality for many women and children in Ethiopia. That is why a device has been created that will eliminate that chore for them.
It is called the Warka Water Tower. They are 30-feet-tall structures that are easily placed in rural areas where water is very hard to get. It is the work of the innovative team of an Italian design firm called Architecture and Vision, who took cues from the Ethiopian landscape, specifically the Ethiopian fig tree called warka. The giant wild fig tree native to <a href="https://rumble.com/v2zbvi-ethiopia-banks-on-seeds-to-boost-food-security.html" target="_blank">Ethiopia</a> is traditionally used for public gatherings and education, an archetype of ‘common ground’.
The structure utilizes a special fabric that collects condensation from the air and can collect up to 26 gallon of clean, <a href="https://rumble.com/v31bsh-belgian-scientists-turn-urine-into-drinking-water.html" target="_blank">drinking water</a> each day. It basically collects dew from the air. That is enough water for over 50 people!
The towers cost just $1000 to install and require no tools, no electricity and can be operational in under an hour. The locals are taught how to build additional towers and are even encouraged to do so. The Warka towers are meant to be accessible and easy to make, using local resources.
Some 20% of the world population has no access to clean drinking water. It seems that these Warka water towers are the solution to this crisis.
It makes you think doesn't it, about the ways you are wasting this natural resource without thinking about people who do not have the same privilege. It sure made us turn off the tap while brushing our teeth.

The Mysterious Case Of A Very Old Light Bulb
The average light bulb has a lifespan of approximately 1,000 to 2,000 hours, while increasingly popular LED bulbs last between 25,000 and 50,000 hours. However, this story is about an unusual phenomenon of a <a href="https://rumble.com/v30t4r-scientific-tuesdays-make-a-homemade-light-bulb..html">light bulb</a> on a firehouse ceiling in California that's burned for over 1,000,000 hours! That's more than 115 years. Just wow!
Since it was first installed in 1901, there were only a few rare cases when it has been turned off. Having outlived all of the firefighters from that time, it was called the “Eternal Light” by many physicists around the world. Now this bulb is commonly called the Centennial Light, and even though it raised many questions for decades, its longevity is still a real mystery.
Fast forward several decades later, in 1972, a fire Marshall in Livermore, California told a local newspaper about a strange situation – there was a <a href="https://rumble.com/v30lsa-how-to-light-candles-with-a-dry-spaghetti-noodle.html" target="_blank">light</a> bulb hanging from the ceiling of his station that has been burning for many years. This phenomenon was already a topic for conversation in the firehouse for long, but nobody could say with certainty how long it's been burning, nor where it came from. Soon after this, reporters started investigating, and the findings were indeed stunning. One reporter conducted such an extensive research that in the end was able to tell when exactly this bulb was purchased and where!
Don't miss this spectacular story and share your comment in the section below!

1,500 Chinese Workers Built A Railroad In Only 9 Hours
We can all learn from each other on this planet on one subject or another, and that's a given. When it comes down to building new infrastructures or building or skyscrapers, it may be best to look at the Chinese. So to speak, they have managed to build entire cities overnight with nothing but great teamwork and understanding.
The unimaginable success they have had completing such tasks that other people take weeks and even months to complete. China needed a <a href="https://rumble.com/v4ai6d-no-tea-breaks-chinese-workers-rebuild-station-in-just-nine-hours.html" target="_blank">railway station built</a> - quickly. A small army of workers with a collective one-track mind later and the job was done overnight.
Now, how, is the main question here. How is it that they have managed to complete such workload in that short of a while. The secrets might lay in their dedication, hard work, great team understanding, great leadership and many many other greats that would fall into this equation.
According to Zhan Daosong, a deputy manager at China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, the communist country’s main railroad construction company, the workers were split into seven units in order to take on seven simultaneous tasks. One thing is for certain, such <a href="https://rumble.com/v3wwkj-grasshopper-found-embedded-in-van-gogh-masterpiece.html" target="_blank">masterpiece</a> must be admired and learned from as also a motivation to all others. If we all just put our minds to one thing and indulge in great working habits, China has proven that anything is possible.
Take a look as this video reveals some of what the Chinese had to do in order to achieve such greatness. Truly inspirational!

This Is The World's Deepest Hole
It has been said that the human race knows more about certain distant <a href="https://rumble.com/v4blmn-nasa-chandra-telescope-a-tour-of-frontier-fields-galaxy-clusters.html" target="_blank">galaxies</a> than it does about the ground that lies beneath its very feet. In fact, while it took the famous Voyager 1 satellite 26 years to exit our Solar System (relaying measurements to Earth from 16.5 billion km away), it took about the same amount of time for humanity to penetrate a mere 12 km into the Earth’s surface.
The Russians dug a nine-inch diameter hole 7.5 miles under the ground just to see what was there-until the Earth’s crust started melting their equipment. You can’t <a href="https://rumble.com/v47rxg-the-flat-earth-deepest-hole-on-the-flat-earth-and-the-number-12.html" target="_blank">dig a hole</a> to China, but Russia and the U.S. came close. Starting in the 1970s, the superpowers started to drill a hole deep into the Earth’s crust. The USSR’s effort, the Kola super deep Borehole, is now the deepest hole on Earth. “Well to hell” reaches 7.5 miles underground and took 24 years to accomplish. They wanted to go deeper, but temperatures hotter than 350 °F compromised equipment.
There were scientific purposes to this challenge in addition to bragging rights. Researchers were baffled by the presence of liquid water miles below the surface. They believe this is from hydrogen and oxygen atoms being squeezed out of rock layers. They also found fossilized plankton, a whopping 2 billion years old. Despite being 4,000 miles short of hitting the Earth’s core, the borehole was capped in 1994. Japan wants to take Russia’s title with a new drilling project set to kick off in 2030. It aims to dive 3.7 miles under the ocean’s floor into the Earth’s liquid mantle layer.

Top 10 Animals We Could Bring Back From Extinction
The lost world. Or not? Have you heard the stories of the mysterious Dodo bird, or the Moa - an ostrich-like bird that walked in New Zealand, or the gracious Irish Elk or the Tasmanian Tiger? If not, than you must have heard of tor the Woolly <a href=https://rumble.com/v3zwbp-15000-year-old-mammoth-skeleton-up-for-auction-in-lyon.html”>Mammoth</a>? – A beautiful elephant-like creature with huge tusks and hair – the predecessor of the modern elephant.
All of these special animals walked the face of the Earth but today they are extinct. Some died form the changes of the Ice Age, others were hunted by humans for their meat and fur and driven to extinction.
DNA scientists have good news for us – at least the video says so - on the basis of the scraps of DNA discovered on the fossils of these animals, they could reproduce these wonderful species and bring them back to life. It must be an extremely hard work, if possible at all. Then it makes you wonder – our Earth is inhabited with beautiful species already on the verge on extinction.
So why not also put all our efforts to save the species that are already endangered? Remember the West African <a href=”https://rumble.com/v3jnfv-black-rhino-calf-kendi-and-mom-seyia-out-cincinnati-zoo.html”>Black Rhino</a> or the White Rhino? The first is deemed extinct last year and the latter is almost extinct, due to poaching and human greed. So, let’s move on people and save what we have left on this planet. Our beautiful animals won't be here for long!

Take A Look At These 10 Inventions That Never Caught On
So, this video is dedicated to inventions which at a point sounded and looked good but never actually caught on. For some of them it is a shame but for some maybe not so much.
To begin with, the mono wheel was a <a href="https://rumble.com/v4dguf-downhill-bicycle-competition-2016.html" target="_blank">bicycle</a> created to attract the attention of the thinkers out side the box that later proved to have several issues with steering along side other issues. Never the less people still think that these mono cycles have a chance to make it in the real world. Which is somewhat true now that one wheel bicycles are used but commonly by extreme cyclists.
Then we have the "cyclomer", which was basically a bicycle that was meant to take you through water. Yes, you heard right. A bicycle that you can ride in the water without sinking. But, as many of these ides, this one also had a couple of faults which didn't really encourage investors, so after a while it all went down the drain.
Then we have what they called the "portable bridge". As the name explains for it self, this was a bridge which you can take any where and connect two islands. Now now in the most broad of sense but basically if there was a river which disconnected two parts of a neighborhood, this bridge was constructed so that you can place it and connect the two side. Although clever, this bridge felt unsafe therefor people decided to keep to the conventional stone and concrete bridges we have today.
The winterized face protector was also one of the ideas which originated in Canada to protect people from the merciless winters. However this was too much since it literally looks like a cone which people place right on their face to protect them from severe winds and cold in Canada. To start off with, this just looks ridiculous.
Hamblin Glasses were meant to reflect off of each other so that you can see whats in front of you even though your laying down. It was mainly meant for reading, which was at the time "ahead of its time" but somehow they still didn't pass through.
The piano bed, pretty much self explanatory. People tried to invent this new way of more practical <a href="https://rumble.com/v2zxil-cornish-rex-cat-playing-the-piano.html" target="_blank">piano</a> playing so that you can play the piano while in bed. Yeah..didn't catch on too well.
Next is the radio head, pretty much similar to ear phones , at least but better built today and more practical. This invention involved a hat and earmuffs connected to it and the system just built into the hat. Sadly, this might have been a break through to what we have today but still never made it to the real market.
The revolver camera. Basically what this was is that the product maker tried to put a camera inside a revolver, meaning each time you pulled the trigger a photo would be taken. Never really worked out for some obvious reasons.
The suspended baby cage was obviously a cage which was meant to stick out your window so that your baby can outside but still remaining in the apartment. This looks very unsafe to say the least!
And then we have a full pack cigarette holder which allows the user to be able to smoke a whole pack of cigarettes into one go. Interesting huh?
These ...interesting inventions failed to catch the public's eye, but they are certainly creative!

These Are Some Of The Most Unusually Lovely Restaurants In The World
When the subject of gastronomic pleasures comes up, opinions are split. There are those who would much rather enjoy their chef create something out of thin air that not only looks delicious, but is also surprisingly filling, and then there are those restaurant goers that put food and drink in the back, while they soak up the thrill of the surroundings.
Those people would probably love the visual aspect of Tokyo’s Robot Restaurant. Located in the Shinjuku nightlife district, Robot Restaurant is all about the show. Valued guests might find the combination of dancers dressed in nothing but a bikini, riding robotic dinosaurs, while tribal drummers (also quite scantily clothed) beat up drums, under neon lights, all a bit too nonsensical. But people love it so much, that the shows are always sold out, even with tickets topping 100 USD. If only the food tasted better than a bland afterthought.
On the other side of the extremes, we got the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort’s Ithaa Undersea Restaurant. With the acrylic tube situated under 16 feet of ocean water, it became the first restaurant of its kind in 2005. The Robot Restaurant might have been about sensory overload, but the Ithaa, meaning ‘mother of pearl’, is all about serenity in a quiet space. The establishment, which can only house 14 diners at one time, offers patrons a 270-degree panoramic view, while surrounded by dozens of species of fish in their natural habitat.
If none of these tickles your fancy, you can always go to Giraffe Manor in Nairobi and share your meal with the <a href="https://rumble.com/v3dppb-giraffe-facts-you-cant-live-without-rare-animals.html" target="_blank">tall residents</a>!

These Are 10 Of The Most Extreme Places On Our Planet
From stomach-churning heights to finger-freezing cold, our planet is packed with plenty of places where the middle ground doesn’t exist.
While some would deny this statement, it is an universal truth. Humans are gluttonous for punishment. We have this ceaseless desire to explore and inhabit places that no one in their right mind would even consider even visiting! You could say it is the price we have to pay for suffering from such curious minds.
One such place is Bishop Rock on the Isle of Scilly, 28 miles off the coast of England. It is but a bright example for the lengths some folks have been prepared to go to inhabit what was once but a chuck of rock in the middle of friggin nowhere! They built a 10-storey <a href="https://rumble.com/v3ew88-incredible-full-moon-rising-timelapse-over-lighthouse.html" target="_blank">lighthouse</a> to stop ships from colliding with their rocky neighbors. The first lighthouse was built in the middle of the 19th century, but a vicious Atlantic storm tore that thing down. The damage was estimated to what would today be $1.9 million.
Since 1992, Bishop’s Rock has been operated remotely from a lightkeeper station in Harwich, Essex. That monstrous edifice can be seen for 24 nautical miles all around. Visitors still go to see it, who get flows out there thanks to a helipad. The building can accommodate up to four of you, given you are able to withstand the tempestuous winds and the incredibly limited space where you can stretch your legs. You will just have to limit your stay up to a month.
Fancy something snowier? Then definitely try Oymyakon, a remote village in Siberia. It boasts to be <a href="https://rumble.com/v4chlj--60-76f.-the-pole-of-cold..html" target="_blank">the coldest permanently inhabited place on Earth</a>, reaching a staggering -76°F.

These 9 Megaprojects Are Being Built As You Watch This Clip
There is this saying that many use to justify things they have done way out of proportion - “go big or go home”. That same saying can very easily be applied to these giants of the enginerical breed, all of which are still being built!
Thinking ahead of the times is not without its cost. Breaking record ground on construction or improving on buildings that already do their job comes on the form of green Franklins and a lot of them. If you want to have the bragging rights to the world’s longest <a href="https://rumble.com/v3hcep-worlds-longest-suspension-bridge-opens-in-switzerland.html" target="_blank">bridge</a>, you will have to pay the price and the tag says $10.6 billion! This 31-mile-long project will link three different cities along the Pearl River delta in China - Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau.
Due to overcapacity, Beijing will receive another airport due in 2025. The new airport will be able to accomodate 100 million people per year, with a price tag of $13 billion. <a href="https://rumble.com/v3jyfh-dubai-and-qatar-in-motion-4k-hyperlapse.html" target="_blank">Dubai</a> will also receive a second airport of its own. The Al Maktoum Airport will be the largest airport in the world when completed, with the ability to service 160 million travelers a year and at the cost of $82 billion.
Now that we know how Dubai likes stuff to be big, let’s talk about their largest amusement park, appropriately called Dubailand. Actually, it will be a barrage of theme parks, sport venues and the world’s biggest hotel, to name a few, all across 173 square miles. When complete in 2025, it will cost $64 billion.
Of course, we must not forget the biggest and most expensive project in history, the International Space Station. Yes, she orbits the Earth right this moment, but expansions are proposed that will raise the cost to $150 billion.

10 Inventions You Had No Idea They Come From Ancient Egypt
Could you imagine your life without some small blessings such as chewing gums, that good old black eye-liner you grew to love so much, bowling, mints and haircuts? These are just some of the things that would not exist today if it were not for the ancient Egyptians.
10. Eye Makeup
Ancient Egyptians are credited with inventing eye makeup as early as 4000 B.C. Men and women put on eye makeup to cure infection, ward off bad luck and to stay in style!
9. Written <a href="https://rumble.com/v30mbc-10-surprising-things-you-did-not-know-about-the-english-language.html?mref=c8yi&mrefc=14" target="_blank">Language</a>
Ancient Egypt’s photographic writing system emerged around 6000 B.C. Their images evolved into characters that represent sounds, objects, names and ideas.
8. Papyrus Sheets
Before paper, there was papyrus. It came from a stiff, reed-like plant that grew along the Nile. A versatile material, it was used for writing, as well as for making sails, sandals, and mats.
7. The Calendar
Ancient Egyptians invented the calendar to systematize their farming practices. Their year was devided into three seasons?: inundation, growing and harvest.
6. The Plow
Ancient Egypt was one of the first societies to adopt the plow around 4000 B.C. The forst plows weren’t very effective, but they evolved to play a crucial role in agriculture.
5. Breath <a href="https://rumble.com/v3pdu5-copycat-girl-scout-thin-mints.html?mref=c8yi&mrefc=13" target="_blank">Mints</a>
Lacking modern medicine and technology, tooth decay and infection were more common in ancient Egypt. The Egyptians boiled frankincense, myrrh, cinnamon and honey into small pellets to fight bad breath.
We wouldn’t want to spoil your fun by saying anything more! Grab yourselves a cup of coffee and enjoy the rest of the video!
