==================== Donor Rap ====================
This page 100% depends on the generosity of others to continue the work that is being done here to restore and remaster all existing video sources (we even do new transfers on a lot of stuff and uncirculated stuff these days). The postproduction work takes a lot of time, a lot of specialized equipment and software, eats up a ton of money in overhead, continuously increasing storage demands, and a high-speed fiber connection is on the way.
For full disclosure, if you see commercials on this page, this page is NOT MONETIZED in any way. Any commercial you see is either placed there by copyright owners (which they have every right to do) or by Youtube. We don't want people to have to see commercials any more than they want to see them. On the other hand, we are lucky enough be able to post all of these videos without being crushed off of Youtube from copyright violations. (Which also took a lot of effort to make happen)
With that said, this page would have ceased to exist in December 2020 if it were not for the massive outpouring of people who stepped up and offered to help when i put up the notice that I would no longer be able to maintain this page because of the time and the financial burden. If you are able, consider making a one-time donation or joining the patreon if you find this page to be something of value -- every dollar genuinely helps a ton. We do not want anyone to feel any sense of obligation. We are like everyone else and want to keep the music alive, at the highest quality possible.

==================== Donor Rap ====================
This page 100% depends on the generosity of others to continue the work that is being done here to restore and remaster all existing video sources (we even do new transfers on a lot of stuff and uncirculated stuff these days). The postproduction work takes a lot of time, a lot of specialized equipment and software, eats up a ton of money in overhead, continuously increasing storage demands, and a dedicated internet connection to function (we're hoping to be able to obtain a 5 gigabit fiber optic line by end of year to be able to fully self-host all of the original uncompressed content with lossless audio tracks)
For full disclosure, if you see a commercial on this page, please do realize this page is NOT monetized in any way by us.
With that said, this page would have ceased to exist in December 2020 if it were not for the massive outpouring of people who stepped up and offered to help when i put up the notice that I would no longer be able to maintain this page because of the time and the financial burden it was putting on my life. If you are able, we ask that you consider making a one-time donation or joining the patreon if you find this page to be something of value -- every dollar genuinely helps a ton. We do not want anyone to feel any sense of obligation at all to do this. We are just like everyone else and want to keep the music alive, and at the highest quality possible.

Jerry Garcia and David Grisman [4K REMASTER] December 7, 1991 - The Warfield - San Francisco, CA
Final time I will post this -- decided it was good enough to push it to 2160p (4K) resolution at 60 frames per second.
This video was recorded by Justin Kreutzmann
Thanks for letting us use it and put it under the knife, I really love the way this came out -- I hope everyone else does as well.
This video started as 720x480 (interlaced) --- Deinterlaced to 480p60 and converted to 1:1 pixel aspect ratio (LCD screens are not designed for interlaced video or NTSC sized pixels, so this conversion really helps with the 480p quality. interlaced video is 60 fields per second, so when you properly comptuer for motion vectors, you can write a script to get a "perfect" 60 frames per second progressive (59.94)
Josh and I ran this through a whole gamut of editing processes and I decided over the last week that with the overall quality over the video, scaling to 4k relatively accurately would be possible, and I think it really worked out great. 4k has far more advantage on a platform like youtube on any screen size, just for the bitrate increase.
We used a matrix (lineage below) to re-track this video

Below is all that came with it for audio/video lineage. I believe Justin K. probably filmed this. Snippets from it are used in the Grateful Dawg video. I assume the audio to be SBD or really good sounding from the camera. I also did an audio version with a small amount of the audience source I listed way below blended in as well and that one is labeled as matrix. The video was already deinterlaced at 29.9 and nothing was needed to correct it in Davinci, so I left it completely alone.

Crowd reaction and full song -- Rubin And Cherise -- June 9 1991 --- Buckeye Lake Music Center
Probably one of the most mind blowing bust-outs in GD history... Especially late 80's early 90's
Camera gets shaky once it's 100% apparent what is happening, gets stable again about 2:30 into the video... so just a minute or so of chaos where he was trying to get crowd shots but was likely also getting bumped into a lot :)

Video notes.. it was 480i now it's 1080p60... The rest is boring.
We previously posted this video with some interlacing artifacts that are now taken care of.
Justin Kreutzmann taped this show :) (Who else is getting this close?!?!!)
Big thanks!!!!
I am going to attempt to render this video in 4K now that I see how good it looks when properly deinterlaced (the original file has a "progressive" flag though it was actually interlaced, which messed with hardware)

This is a brand new 2-cam mix made posssible by the recent arrival of the nonsmo king. We used both the Nosmo transfer along with the @Less Than Face Productions camera to make a 2-camera production here and upgraded the sound to Charlie Miller's 24-bit SBD master.
================================================
Both videos were 480i 29.96fps and this is now a consistent 1080p at 59.94 fps. This was done in deinterlacing and done properly using motion vectors. This is how is is supposed to appear.
Plenty of other work went into this one, but let's just say "yay new 2-cam with better audio!"
Thanks!

2cam mix. The second cam is a handheld from Nosmo King. It is the only cam with footage for the last 2 songs of set 1, so even though it is shaky and films things around the stage, its all we have for those 2 songs. Both cameras did a good job in set 2 of filming the screens at times.

Josh created a new matrix from two separate FOB sources which were pretty good but both had places where it was better than the other...timing has to be adjusted for these because speed of sound and how waves work and all that fun stuff. Lineage for both sources is below.

Grateful Dead [1080p60 Remaster] September 18, 1990 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY
This is our full out Video and Audio REMASTER of
Grateful Dead
September 18, 1990
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
All original lineage used to produce this video is listed below
Personal Notes from the team here....
Audio Notes: Re-tracked with Charlie Miller's Ultramatrix24 SBD -- which are almost entirely "SBD" inside MSG, as the acoustics weren't very favorable to a matrix at the SBD. (So yes, when you hear the crowd roar, that's almost entirely coming through the monitors) The LC SBD is not one to sleep on either, Charlie's new SBD from the ultramatrix tapes are just on a whole new level... Just a few years ago there wouldn't have been a chance in hell i change the LC sbd out.
Video notes: Thanks again to Lazy Cow (Mooooooo) -- Amazing video, these fall 90 tapes just get better with each sequential date... we have the 19th and 20th coming up to finish out MSG 1990. This started as a normal NTSC 480i 29.97 fps transfer .. deinterlaced to 59.94 FPS... color correction and other touch-up stuff on the levels -- masssaged up to 1440x1080 Progressive (59.94 FPS) and then some more post-production stuff in the final encode. Also letterboxxing was added to make it 1920x1080, original aspect ratio maintained and this looks proper as proper gets on modern TVs and other displays... On old CRT TVs, 480i gave the illusion of 60 frames per second by the way they were designed, we use custom scripts to re-reate and assemble motion vectors for every frame to bring back the smoothness that CRT provided to these old tapes, which was lost as soon as LCD tvs became mainstream.. (also pixel ratios are corrected for modern displays)

Audio notes:
I left the Lazy Cow SBD intact on this one because it's really good.
VIdeo notes:
Thanks to the lazy cow, LeeJ, for being a baller at taping these shows, absolute pleasure to work on as usual
Color adjustments, level adjustmnents, deinterlaced to 480p60 (properly) and then upscaled to 1080p60 -- litany of other post-production work to make this shine.
Further note: This video is absolutely the "worst" of the MSG run. The following shows after this one have much more vibrant colors and better levels all-around. I'm not sure the reason, it just is. I can talk to the taper, it's either first-day setup just wasn't as optimal or the tape wasn't in pristine condition for the transfer.
Either way, this is bettter than 99% of AUD shot videos, so thanks again to the mooo cow for your ninja-video work.. It's always a hoot!
All postproduction work in this video was performed by Josh Davis and Christopher Hazard

Grateful Dead [1080p Remaster] September 15, 1990 - Madison Square GardenNew York, NY
This is our AUDIO and VIDEO remaster of:
Grateful Dead
September 15, 1990
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
This continues our september of remastering the entire fall 1990 tour. Most shows we are trying to upload "on the date of" -- yes, i'm behind a little, these things take time and I've been tyring to make sure they're as good as they can be (within some time constraints)
Show notes:

Video notes:
deinterlaced from 480i 720x480 to 640x480 (square pixels) at 59.94fps -- progressive
Custom Workflow on rest of video and all of your "basic" post-production tools have mostly been used here as usual.
Re-rendered at 1440x1080@59.94fps
Thanks to LeeJ/Lazy Cow For this excellent transfer
For an AUD video, this simply gets an A rating from the start. Yes, lots of work to bring this into 2022, but the work done in the original transfer/taping is just great
Audio Notes: Kept the MooSBD :)
All postproduction work on this video was performed by Josh Davis and Christopher Hazard explicity for this page (and eventual distrubution)
If you downloaded this from somewhere as of 9-16-2022 (or 99% of the videos on this page -- I hate to tell you that you likely have a "fake" that is nothing more than a youtube rip with lossy audio... We are still working out distribution logistics to make it fairer, and we are sorting through certain things that we just cannot distribute because of copyrights/material being used in official releases.
