Bacon, Bacon, & Bacon... we kept this one very basic and just wanted to show you guys how we cook bacon outside on our grill using Grill Grates. We flipped the grill grates upside down to create a flat cooking surface and the bacon turns out great every time. Smoking bacon on my rec tec creates a better flavor profile but can take a lot longer, so this is a quicker solution when cooking bacon outside.

Nothing shouts Fall like a Hot Apple Dumpling, and I make a habit out of making these every year. Mama made the recipe with the refrigerated cresent dough and sprite, but I love making these with homemade caramel sauce! I know you will love this recipe as much as we do! This recipe is not in our cookbooks. So print this one out, it is listed below. Enjoy and Happy Fall Y'all!
Tammy Nichols is on a mission to teach YOU how to cook just like mama did! She enjoys being in the kitchen bringing you everyday dishes that her mama, granny and maw maw made. No fancy ingredients, just good old country girl cooking. Tammy grew up in Polk County (NW) Georgia in an area called Collard Valley. She now lives in Saint Marys, GA. with her husband who is retired from the GA. School System and has girls in college at Georgia Southern in Savannah, Georgia.
HOT APPLE DUMPLINGS
1 REFRIGERATED PIE CRUST DOUGH
3 small to medium GALA APPLES (PEELED AND CORED)
OR GOLDEN DELICIOUS
1 SIFTER (FOR CUTTING ROUNDS ONLY)
1/4 CUP SUGAR MIXED WITH 1 TSP. CINNAMON (SET ASIDE)
ROOM TEMPERATURE BUTTER FOR MAKING DUMPLINGS
CARAMEL SAUCE
1 STICK BUTTER
1/2 CUP EVAPORATED MILK OR WHIPPING CREAM
3/4 CUP PACKED LIGHT BROWN SUGAR
2 TSP. CORN SYRUP
1 TSP. VANILLA EXTRACT.
IT IS BEST TO WATCH THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL BEFORE MAKING THIS RECIPE.
FOR DUMPLINGS: ROLL OUT DOUGH AND CUT INTO 6 ROUNDS WITH THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SIFTER. TAKE EXTRA DOUGH-ROLL OUT THIN AND CUT OUT LEAVES WITH A PARING KNIFE OR TINY COOKIE CUTTER. ROLL UP EXTRA DOUGH AND SEPERATE INTO 6 EQUAL PARTS.
TAKE ONE ROUND SPREAD WITH ROOM TEMPERATURE BUTTER AND TOP WITH 1 TSP. OF CINNAMON SUGAR. PLACE ONE OR TWO APPLE PIECES IN CENTER AND BRING DOUGH UP ON ALL FOUR SIDES PRESSING TO THE TOP OF APPLE. USE THE EXTRA DOUGH PIECE TO HELP CLOSE OFF THE TOP. LAY A LEAF ON TOP AND RUB WITH A LITTLE OF THE BUTTER THEN DUST WITH CINNAMON SUGAR. PLACE THE DUMPLINGS IN A BAKING DISH AND BAKE AT 350 DEGREES UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
FOR CARAMEL SAUCE:
MELT 1 STICK OF BUTTER IN A SMALL SAUCEPAN. ADD BROWN SUGAR , AND CORN SYRUP - SIMMER AND MIX UNTIL BLENDED WELL AND SUGAR HAS BEGUN TO MELT. ADD MILK AND WHISK WELL. TURN UP HEAT AND BRING TO A BOIL-ONCE BOILING- TURN DOWN TO A LOWER BOIL SET TIMER FOR 3 MINUTES. TAKE OFF HEAT AND ADD VANILLA. WHISK WELL. POUR UP IN A PINT MASON JAR.
ONCE DUMPLINGS HAVE BAKED, TAKE OUT WHILE HOT AND POUR CARAMEL ON TOP. ENJOY AS IS (THAT IS HOW I LIKE THEM) OR SERVE WITH ICE-CREAM.

Fried pies are mainly dessert pies that are similar to turnovers, except that they are smaller and fried. The fruit filling is wrapped in the dough, similar to the dough of a pie crust. History: Historically in the American South, fried pies were known as "Crab Lanterns", a term that dates back to at least 1770, and may originate from crab apple pies that had slits for ventilation, thus resembling a lantern.[1] New Hampshire fried pies were popular with U.S. president Franklin Pierce.

6 FRESH APPLES PEELED AND SLICED
1/2 STICK SALTED BUTTER
1 CUP SUGAR

After many years of being complimented on my food, I decided to make some videos to teach my own children how to cook. I am a cancer survivor and wanted them to have a way to learn even if my life was cut short.
So Collard Valley Cooks began in the summer of 2017. Many of my older videos show just what an armature I was at making video content. However, after much encouragement from my viewers I created three cookbooks and have come a long way.
Today, our videos are in HD with more quality sound, and not only that I have learned so many tips from viewers just like YOU!
I really believe I am an even better cook thanks to you all and appreciate your encouragement. Being a YouTuber takes lots of patience, time, determination, thick skin and so much more, but the true joy comes from the stories from my viewers. Many of you mean so much to us.
We just want to thank YOU for SUBSCRIBING, WATCHING, LEARNING, and being faithful to our channel.
