Four amazing horses load themselves into trailer
Tariane is the caretaker to four adult full size horses and a mini pony she actually calls Mini Pony. Living in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Tariane is a professional driver during her “day job” and a super mother of four children plus multiple animals including the horses in this video. Learning to ride at a young age herself, horses have always been in Tariane’s life. Once becoming a parent herself, the kids were all taught how to care for and eventually ride the numerous horses living on Tariane’s property. Nevaeh, the youngest adorable little daughter, has been riding Mini Pony for a while as have Jordy, Leland and the eldest son Kiegen. Being small, Mini Pony and his days with Tariane and her family have come to an end. Like some families do with homes, Mini Pony has become too small for the kids to ride, it would only injure his back and legs.
The day the video was recorded was the day Mini Pony was introduced to a new family, one that can enjoy her for her tiny size. Along with Brent’s lack of horse knowledge, comes a lack of knowing value of these beautiful animals. Asking Tariane what mini Pony fetched at the auction she said “Actually he went for $200 over asking” Tarine mentioned, $800 green backs in her pocket. Not bad for a 1 horsepower vehicle. Brent is a cousin of Tariane whom lives in Surrey British Columbia. When he heard her mention that her horses were” self loading”, he was in disbelief and asked her to prove it. Brent is more of a city guy than a country cowboy so to say, and although he loves animals, his expertise runs very short in the horse department.
Tariane listed off her team as Nova, a ten year old white paint mare. Dexter is what she calls a sorrel gelding and he is seven years old. Spartan, well he is a four year old line back dun apparently. Brent was shaking his head with all these terms and said” all I know, is they are all horses!”. Last but not least came Kissa and she is sixteen and still going strong. Asking how was she able to teach her horses to self load, Tariane described that from when she first purchased the horses, she practiced with them quite often. Perfecting this loading technique would make sure she was able to load them quickly and safely in case of an emergency. An emergency, meaning a forest fire as she lives in a very wooded area of British Columbia. It is simply amazing how smart these animals are. Great job Tariane.

Six foot wild iguana eats berries from woman's hand
Resorts in Riviera Maya, Mexico are the perfect place for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the warm tropical waters of the Caribbean. Many wild creatures also enjoy the resorts. These creatures are not as such on a vacation like the humans, but they have taken up refuge within the bush areas of these resorts. Not unlike other wild animals in our world, it is not suggested to feed the wild creatures. Of course at times, many of us enjoy getting as close as possible to certain animals since we don’t always see them in their natural habitat. Recently while on a vacation honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Brent and his wife and friends stayed at Vidanta. This resort is very expansive and has acres of trees and bush in which wild animals inhabit. Walking along one of the wooden walkways that wind throughout the resort, a passerby wanted to hand feed one of these huge iguanas.
The spiny tail green iguana is very popular in these areas. Being vegetarians, in particular, they like flowering shrubs, like hibiscus, berries, fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, strawberries and figs. Right beside the pathway was a very tall palm tree that had dropped many dark berries and the group notices this big daddy iguana was picking them up as he walked along the garden. The woman scooped up a handful of the berries, lay down on the pathway very slowly, and awaited the arrival of the iguana. Gently but cautiously the iguana approached all the while looking very alert for danger. Slowly he began taking the offering right out of the woman's hand.
Being very gentle the iguana looked very at ease, very use to human interaction. As you will notice, it appears this big iguana has had some run in with another predator of some sort as he is missing part of his tail. They are able to regrow their tail in this situation as it is meant to break off in time of threat to its life if being grabbed by one of its predators. The few minutes of feeding this iguana was very special allowing all the friends to enjoy seeing him up close and enjoy a little of Mexico's natural wild life within the resort they were staying at.

Wild Black Bear teachers cubs how to fish
Hyde Creek is located in the City of Port Coquitlam British Columbia. Port Coquitlam is in the outskirts of Vancouver British Columbia, approximately a short 30 minute, 18 mile, drive from Vancouver's city center and is nestled at the foot of Burke Mountain. Port Coquitlam sits at the confluence of the Fraser River and the Pitt River. During the early part of November, the coho and chum salmon return to Hyde Creek to spawn (lay eggs) in the gravel beds to carry on future salmon numbers. Salmon have a lifespan of three to eight years. Salmon are a kind of “super fish” that can live in both fresh water and salt water, and might travel hundreds or even thousands of miles over a lifetime! Salmon are born in fresh water and most live their adult lives in the ocean. Then they make an incredible upstream journey to spawn (lay eggs) in the same places that they were hatched. Here we see the struggles these salmon make in order to carry on their lives meaning, to create future salmon stocks. Along with battling challenges in the oceans and streams, they also battle to survive predators as you see in this video. In the end it is all part of Mother Nature.....SURVIVAL.
We also see this mama Black Bear teaching her cubs to survive, in searching out their food and being able to catch it. This time of year, late fall, is when the bears begin to prepare for winter hibernation so eating well to build fat is extremely important to survive the winters cold when food is scarce. During hibernation they will use up this extra body fat to live off of while not losing any muscle. This allows the bear to come out of hibernation thinner and still as strong as it was before winter. This was an amazing event to watch this mama teaching her cubs the proper way to catch salmon and to see these animals in an uncontrolled environment. While recording this footage Brent and Elsa were within 30 feet of the adult bear at times. Mama did not seem at all disrupted with the human presence at this location, of which there were numerous. This is a very well known location to observe this incredible part of the animal world. Enjoy and please share this video!

Playful ground squirrels lovingly fed by locals
While visiting Manning Park Resort in British Columbia, Canada, Brent and Elsa noticed a number of ground squirrels running all over the field at the resort. Always having cameras along, Brent decided to record some footage of the playful and somewhat tame little critters. Along with Brent and Elsa, there were other tourists also enjoying the sights of watching these little squirrels playing and enjoying a tasty snack. Brent said he also noticed the squirrels munching on leaves and other greenery in between enjoying a carrot or two. The resort offers great accommodations to go along with the many activities this area has to offer winter and summer. What a cutie!

Coronavirus continues to cause extreme lineups, store employees guard toilet tissue supplies
With the continued daily concerns over the spread of the covid19 virus, many continue to panic into stocking up on supplies. Yes, this virus is very serious and not to be taken lightly. Local grocery stores in Langley British Columbia are finding it difficult to control and keep certain items in stock. As most have heard and seen, the general panic seems to be in stocking up on toilet tissue. The news locally has been mentioning and suggesting people to stock up on products in the event they are quarantined within their own homes for a period of time.
What seems to becoming out of hand is the reasoning behind the toilet tissue. Customers have been seen hoarding numerous packs of tissue, which contain 24 or more rolls. Keeping in mind a 24 pack of toilet tissue does last the average family a month or more, hoarding multiple packages of the tissue seems rather silly. Lineups have grown to enormous lengths, even in the early morning hours shortly after Costco opened. To each his own so to say, some feel it may be better to be safe than sorry. The issue is, when one or more customers hoards multiple packages, supplies diminish for others and this causes aggression amongst customers. Much like black Friday sales and Christmas sales, staff at the local Costco Langley store has had to begin rationing and guarding the toilet tissue, and sanitizing cleaners. Physically handing out one package of toilet tissue per person or family is what the panic has come to. It is good to see that retailers are giving the best efforts to control panic within their stores.
In time we all know things will settle. Until the time covid19 gets under control, we must all do our due diligence to protect ourselves from becoming infected, or spreading infection. Washing hands with standard hand soap has proven to be sufficient, but using other sanitizing agents is also suggested. Washing hands after contacting door handles and other metal surfaces is suggested as well as wiping down surfaces more frequently with isopropyl alcohol with higher than 60% alcohol concentration. This 60% alcohol concentration also includes hand sanitizers. Apparently those with less than 60% alcohol will not kill the virus. Lets all do our best at staying safe and being respectful to others trying their best to stock up with whatever they feel makes them comfortable to the upcoming weeks.

Gigantic sea lions play with scuba divers
Steller sea lions inhabit much of the coast of British Columbia. Passing early spring days by sunbathing on the rocks off Vancouver Island, they also love dipping in and out of the cool ocean to cool off… they also love to play with local scuba divers. Scuba diving with sea lions is an incredible experience, an animal encounter like no other. You can’twander into the middle of a herd of buffalo in Yellowstone Park, but off Hornby Island, near Vancouver Island, British Columbia you can definitely wander into a raft of beautiful Steller sea lions. The steller sea lion is the largest of the eared seals.Females weigh around 500 - 700 lbs, whereas the larger males can reach a whopping 1000 pounds and have even been known to reach an incredible 2000 pounds! Males have broader, higher foreheads, flatter snouts and darker, tuftier hair around their large necks. When diving with steller sea lions it is incredibly important to be fully aware that you are in their habitat, and their environment.
Scuba diving and snorkelling with steller sea lions is great fun, not because you’re there to see them, but because they want to see you. They are very inquisitive, and seem almost more interested in checking out the humans than the humans are of checking out the sea lions. They willrush towards divers asan intimidating herd, before diving down at the last second. Upon descending and reaching a depth of about 20-30 feet just off the shore of Hornby, once the sea lions spot the divers they come to say hi. At times they come darting out of the emerald green water at warp speed, turning at the last second and disappearing behind a diver without a trace. Never far away, the sea lions will be hovering vertically above a divers head, basically laughing until the diversclumsily turns trying to find more sea lions to watch. They’ll whiz past again, this time closer, blowing bubbles, opening their mouth nice and wide for the diver to see all his teeth. Swimming away the sea lion may politely slap a diver in the face with a fin. They also love coming nose to nose with divers, showing off their gorgeous eyes and in that second, connecting with that diver in a way that very few people ever get to do. Scuba diving with sea lions in British Columbia can be a little intimidating. However, the local dive shops that offer these excursions have many years of experience in these waters, and know exactly where, and when to put divers, or snorkelers in the water. They also will inform the divers new to this experience just what to expect and to not panic. Relax and take in the whole experience.
The sea lions love seeing sparkly and dangly things, so the divers must be aware of what they have attached to their suits.Yes the sea lions may bite as well, but in a friendly testing way, much like a puppy gnaws on your fingers. One dive with a sea lion will teach any human more about their habitat, lives and existencethan any text book or documentary. To come nose to nose with a 1000 pound sea creature and knowhe meansto cause you no harm, will give you more respect for the ocean and it’s inhabitants than any museum or lecture. This is definitely a bucket list item for any scuba diving enthusiast!

Hundreds of baby turtles race to the sea
Mexico has some amazing cities and areas. Along the Pacific Coast are two towns that mainly have become known as one, Ixtapa Zihuantanejo. Situated in the state of Guerrero, Ixtapa Zihuantanejo are two separate towns approximately 150 miles north of Acapulco. Having beautiful beaches, Zihuantanejo is sheltered within a very protected bay which is very popular with many private boat owner during the months. Ixtapa Zihuantanejo is the fourth largest city in the state of Guerrero and is very popular with tourists from within Mexico as well as the United States and Canada. Recently, December 2019, Brent and his wife enjoyed two weeks vacation in Zihua, as it is known to the locals. Relaxing for most of their vacation, Brent and Elsa wanted to enjoy something different. While doing some research, they learned of a private turtle release project that was not a far distance from Zihua.
The turtle camp is at Petatillo beach in the municipality of Union in the Guerrero state. The person in charge of the camp is Mr. Felix and his wife Doña Chucha. Mr. Felix and his wife have lived at the location of the turtle camp for over 16 years, and have never had any financial support from the Mexican government. It has only been in the last 2 years, that tours have begun coming to visit Mr. Felix and Doña to see the amazing work they are doing to grow the numbers of the Golfina turtles in this area. After contacting Eco Ixzi Travel in Zihua, the excursion was booked and planned. Julio López was the tour guide for the day and he showed an incredible amount of passion for what Mr. Felix has been doing for the past 16 years. Julio is also very knowledgable of the whole Guerrero state as well as other surrounding states and cities. His knowledge of the turtle populations and how the efforts of Mr. Felix has drastically helped increase the numbers of the Golfina, as well as 3 other species of turtles native to the area. Once arriving at the turtle camp location, the small group of excited tourists, were guided to a covered section with small table and chair at which time Julio began explaining the efforts of Mr. Felix. As mentioned, he and his wife have been living a very simple life, on the beach, caring and tending to many turtle nests which are all within a protected fenced in area.
Each evening around 1am, Mr. Felix ventures out on his atv, which use to be a horse until it passed away one year ago, looking for fresh turtle nests where mother turtles had buried eggs. Searching approximately 3 miles each direction from the camp, Mr.Felix then excavates the fresh nests, gathering all the eggs, to bring back to his well protected site. Keeping all the date for each nest, Mr. Felix records the date, number of eggs, and the nest location on a small peg which he places at each new location within his pens. The miracle of these little turtles hatching takes 45 days. At that time, each tourist visiting, or couple, is allowed to assist these little creatures from within their sand covered beds. After placing a latex glove one ones hand, they can then proceed to gently remove sand around the perimeter of the nest, being very gentle with each stroke. Removing handful by handful the turtle babies start to come into view bring some emotion to the group. Slowly and steadily Brent and Elsa removed every last baby from within the nest, placing them into plastic shallow tubs in which damp sand had been placed on the inside bottom. The sand keeps the babies calm, as it takes approximately 30 minutes for their instincts to kick in, bringing them the awareness of where they have hatched, and to where they will return in 10 years to once again lay eggs themselves. Of course not all theses amazing babies will return to lay eggs as some are male. The sex of the hatchlings is determined not by fertilization, but by the temperature of the nest. Once the babies begin to move about in the plastic bins, Mr. Felix and Julio jointly decided when it was time for Brent, Elsa and their small group to release the babies into the sea. Calling it “a turtle race”, Julio mentioned everyone would release their turtles at the same time, to see just how different some are from others. “ Uno, dos, tres” said Julio and all the babies were gently poured out onto the sand. Some sped towards the water as though they had done this before. Some wandered in circles, and some needed a little helping hand getting in the right direction.
Approximately 10 percent of the hatched baby turtles will return to this exact location. There are many predators out in the open ocean. Birds are one large factor to the babies survival, which is why these turtles are released near sunset as the birds have mostly gone to their nests for the evening. Large fish are also another predator that limits the life expectancy of these little guys. Hopefully returning in 10 years, these Golfina or Olive Ridley turtles will grow to a length of around two feet long and weighing nearly 100 pounds. This amazing excursion for those who love wildlife, is a definite trip to do while in the area of Ixtapa Zihuantanejo. Contact Julio at Eco Ixzi Travel for a memorable day that you will not forget.

Terrifying moray eels: Hugely misunderstood creatures
While scuba diving in La Paz Mexico, these divers got to experience the amazing sights of moray eels swimming in the open. Usually thought of as vicious or ill-tempered, morays usually hide in crevices from humans and would rather flee than fight. With over 200 species, morays range from 4.5 inches to over 13 feet in length and can weight almost 70 pounds.
In general, they are a very graceful animal to be around within their domain, the ocean, and it is a great experience to be able to be at one with them beneath the surface.

Gender reveal prank ends with a bang
The time had come. Ryan and Megan had chosen that they wanted to know the gender of their baby. Three months into her pregnancy and she was getting eager to know whether the new little Ferguson was going to a boy or a girl. Of course either way that little baby is going to be loved more than anything. With both sides of the family quite close this was a very exciting time. Megan's sisters had thought hard and done all the planning of the type of reveal this was going to be. Ryan and Megan wanted this to be a big surprise for them.
Kelly and Dana got very creative and even had rules. Upon the game commencing the noise and anxiety rose for almost everyone in attendance. Ryan had friends from elementary school, yes his kindergarten class, and Megan had many of her close friends as well. Elsa, Ryan's step mom had prepared an incredible meal for all the guests making this a wonderful evening of friends and family. Working their way through the first stage of the reveal was fun. Soon everyone was seeing the balloons showing this was going to be a girl.... but then there was a twist. You will see the expression on Megan's face when Ryan and her are down to the last two balloons. One boy and one girl balloon. Which will have the surprise inside? One, Two, Three...
Now you will have to watch the video to see the outcome. Keep an eye on the picture in picture inset and catch the SUPER EXCITEMENT of Ryan's step mom, it is classic. What a great evening this was. Many were surprised which gender the little surprise was, all because many had the same "feeling" as to the gender. Very joyful outcome with tears of joy and many hugs for the soon to be new mom and dad. Ryan and Megan, here comes the most exciting time of your lives. Bella the family dog is sure to make for a great "big sister".

Concerned coati mother drags her babies to safety
On a recent vacation, Brent noticed a very interesting and cute animal that he later discovered was called a Coati. The coati, or better known in English as the long nosed coon. The coati which looks much like the well known racoon of North America, is approximately 13 to 17 inches long from head to the base of the tail.Weighing in at around four and a half to seventeen pound they are much the size of a large house cat. Having long tails, this is used in tall vegetation to keep their troops in order, making it easy for the rest to follow the leader whom has his tail held high. Also having long snouts which they can rotate up to sixty degrees in any direction, they use their noses for pushing objects as well as rubbing parts of their bodies when itchy. Having strong limbs they are great climbers and diggers. What you notice in this video, is the care a mama coati has for her young.
Baby coati are also known as “kittens”. Protecting her kittens is key, no matter what. While wandering the resort on his vacation, Brent noticed a group of visitors looking into the bushes. What came next was very interesting to watch. Mama coati made sure her young followed her into the foliage for their protection. At times pacing back and forth within the bush protection as she could see their were humans watching her from only a few steps away. It was evident there was concern for the safety of her young. Once secured, she then began transporting her young from one safe location another. Strategically shuttling the three adorable kittens, mama coati shows her determination and strength to take care of her young. Always scanning the area before progressing along her planned route, mama coati peeks from within the brush cover before latching onto her baby and scurrying to the next drop point.
Continually grasping them around the neck with her mouth, she would then return to gather her next kitten and repeat the process of moving them to the next safe location. The process took approximately 20 minutes for moving the three kittens a distance of approximately one hundred feet from a garden area into some nearby treed area of the resort. Many visitors watched with surprise at the care mama coati took in keeping her young safe while moving them quickly through the resort gardens. What an adorable animal to see.

Dog treat theft gets interrupted when owner arrives home
Coming home to an open pantry isn't always a big deal or a surprise, specially when you have children. But this day it was quite funny. After arriving home after running errands, Brent noticed the pantry open and he knew it was closed or almost closed when they left. Looking around he noticed a definite clue as to whom was lurking around while he was gone. Upon closer examination it was clear..... there was a dog treat thief in the house.
Now Poncho, Brent and Elsa's rescue dog from Mexico, has a number of quite hilarious quirks. Almost ever time either Brent or Elsa returns home from being out and about, something is noticed misplaced. Many times it is a shoe moved from a shoe rack in the den to Poncho's bed, or a couch. Never chewed but always moved. Some days it may be a entry way carpet all scrunched into a ball, as Poncho is known for "making a nest" or something similar. Some days Brent wonders if Poncho was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper because his reading glasses, which were on the kitchen table, mysteriously have appeared on the living room couch.
Poncho is a pretty keen pooch, so you just never know if she is reading up on "100 ways to be a better dog" in the local paper. Watch and enjoy one of Ponchos funny ways, and see just how adorable of a pet she is to Brent and Elsa. Poncho's expressions after the theft will melt your heart. What a great dog. She is definitely loved and she knows it. Just look at those eyes!

Coati steals fries from poolside vacationer
Everyone and everything gets hungry doesn’t it. Some of us are fortunate enough that we are able to just jump in our vehicle and head to the grocery store and buy the supplies we need for dinner or breakfast. Out in the wild it is not quite the same. Many animals have to hunt for their meals. Tracking down their prey lions, tigers, bears and other predators plan their attack. Once planned they advance with their plan in order to feed themselves and their hungry family. On a recent vacation, Brent noticed a very interesting and cute animal that he later discovered was called a Coati. The coati, or better known in English as the long nosed coon looks much like the well known raccoon of North America. Measuring approximately 13 to 17 inches long from head to the base of the tail and weighing in at around four and a half to seventeen pound.
The coati are much like the size of a large house cat. The little coati whom is the subject of this video was recorded by a visitor named Brent. While relaxing at the resort pool on his vacation, he saw some movement out the corner of his eye. Once turned enough to see what was moving, he discovered a theft in progress.
Not a theft as we may think, no, the resort is very safe. What Brent began to witness was the ingenuity the coati has gained in order to gather food, the easiest way possible. Prowling the pool area is a perfect way to find scraps of food, or as this little guy discovered, a whole tray full of food. Of course it is not suggested to feed the animals or they will always be bothering the guests. Also being wild animals, they still may bite. Once satisfied with his meal, Mr Coati moved on to the next “restaurant”.

Security cam captures dramatic hit and run
Imagine this. Early morning on October 6th you are slowly awakening after a good night sleep. 6:30 am and you hear a crash, but still wiping the sleep from your eyes and still not quite awake, you brush it off as someone dropped a plate downstairs. Once up and about, ready for work, you make your way downstairs and catch a glimpse of your daughters car parked mysteriously out of character. Appearing further back on the street, you then notice it is on the grass as well. "Hmmm you think, what was she doing last night when she got home". Shoes on, dog leashed up, you head outside for your morning walk.
This was all the experienced the father of the car owner had one early morning. Once outside, he noticed it wasn't his daughter strange parking job, but her har had been crashed into sometime through the night. Later that morning, The daughter and her husband scoured the neighbourhood looking for clues and evidence to the culprit. talking with neighbours, no one seems to know anything. As fathers do, her dad jumped into action. Emails were sent to neighbours, bringing great results. One neighbours daughter had seen a blue suv with damage, turning around and heading back down the street, a great clue. Another neighbour mentioned he had cameras and would check the memory cards, more great evidence came about. After calls to the local police, an officer arrived and also walked the neighbourhood.
Later in the day as the car owner sat outside waiting for some clues to arise, a young man approached her and mentioned" are you the owner of this car? I am so sorry but my mother hit your car this morning." A hit and run is a criminal offence in Canada which can carry heavy penalties. With some relief that now the person had. come forward and admitted to the collision, the police were then again notified. This was a horrible day for the car owner as this car has many memories with her mother whom had recently passed, making this much more stressful and painful for her.
The best part is that the driver had been found and admitted to the incident, saving the owner the insurance deductible for repairs. The police officer mentioned he did have two citations drafted for the driver of the hit and run vehicle, one for hit and run and leaving the scene, the other for not clearing the windows of the drivers windows which was admitted by the driver. Lessons learned we hope. So remember, always take time before driving that your view and vision out of your vehicle is 100 percent clear. Thankfully no one was injured. This could have been much worse with horrific results had someone been in the parked car or crossing the street.

Aircraft uses lake to battle raging forest fires
Steve recorded this footage from his lakefront home in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. With the nearby forests on fire, the water bombers were continually making passes in front of his home to fight the nearby fires. After a while Steve noticed a boater getting dangerously close to the flight/pickup path for the bombers and continued to record in case of an incident. The boater, as you will see, definitely was not thinking clearly as to his safety and the safety of his passengers, never mind the safety of the skilled pilots working tirelessly to fight the blazes. There were more than 2,500 residents evacuated locally as the fires came dangerously close to residential neighborhoods. Thankfully there was no incident on the water this day, and the fires were extinguished after a number of days.
Thanks to all the hardworking firefighters in the air and on the ground, they conquered yet another bad round of forest fires in Kelowna.

Freak summer storm hammers Melbourne, Australia
Craig and his wife Amanda, the videographer whom recorded these amazing sights of the wicked storm that struck her Carrum Downs neighborhood near Melbourne Australia. January 31st was a wild day for this summer storm. Bringing high winds, torrential rain and hundreds of lightning strikes to the area the first responders were kept busy all afternoon. Emergency service crews received hundreds of calls for help after wild weather brought down trees and damaged buildings across Melbourne and Victoria.
The town of Broadford in central Victoria was among the worst hit areas overnight, alongside Lang Lang, some 73 kilometers southeast of Melbourne and Hampton Park in the city’s southeast. In the 24 hours this storm hammered the Melbourne area, the State Emergency Service received 860 calls for help, mostly for fallen trees and building damage. News bulletins warned residents to stay inside unless they desperately needed to go outside or travel during the storm.
After hearing one extremely loud boom and seeing a flash of lighting, Amanda and Craig noticed a gaping hole in their neighbors roof. Craig stepped outside briefly to check on their own roof and downspouts but other than that he remained inside along with Amanda until the weather calmed down. What a sight to see!

Winter storm totally decimates coastal town's shoreline
Birch Bay is a fairly small community in Whatcom County Washington on the Pacific Ocean coast. A short drive south of the Canada/USA boundary it attracts many visitors, mainly in the summer months. Come winter the town becomes a sleepy town but still attracts many to walk its beautiful beached in search of shells, driftwood, and to just enjoy the scenery.
December 20th, 2018 was a horrific day for Birch Bay. Blistering winds over 65 mph struck the area right at the time of high tide and low atmospheric pressure to create a tidal surge of 11.3 feet -- about 2 feet above the predicted high tide. As many as 10,000 people lost power in the immediate area, and over 300,000 lost power from this storm. Waves crashed over the roadway causing traffic chaos. One restaurant on the waterfront which had been recently renovated suffered drastically. The windows and doors were blown out from the power of the extreme waves. Furniture from the restaurant was seen flowing out the front door and across the roadway.
Police, fire rescue and the sheriff’s department traveled the area making sure everyone was safe and offered assistance when needed. As you will see in the video there has been extensive damage to the town. By Friday, Dec. 28, damage reports across Whatcom County had risen to between $4.5 million and $5 million — and that figure was expected to rise. Luckily there were no personal injuries reported. With hard work from the county and the locals, Birch Bay is surely to be back to the way it was awaiting its many visitors from far and wide come summer. Pedal tricycles, kayakers and beach goers are a huge part of the community activities once summer arrives. The town relies heavily on tourism come May and through to October. Cheers to seeing Birch Bay back as it was! Peaceful and beautiful.

Boat owners volunteer their time and boats to give these children that would normally not be able to enjoy boating due to financial, mobility or other challenges a day of pirate-themed fun in Vancouver. On June 9,2018, over 500 kids with special needs participated in the annual Boat for Hope fundraiser hosted by Variety – The Children’s Charity and outboard motor company Evinrude.
Brent whom did most of the video recording this day had the opportunity to be involved as a “good“ pirate aboard his buddy GOLDTOOTH’s family yacht. Everyone boarded at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club near downtown Vancouver. Goldtooth’s parents Harvey and Maggy have been involved with, and donating the use of their boat for this incredible event for more than 20 years. Goldtooth aka Andy is also on the board of directors of the Boat for Hope. Goldtooth also makes appearances on television during the TV telethon which shows his great commitment to these kids year after year. After getting all the kids and family on board, Goldtooth gave his boating safety speech and highlighted this was going to be FUN! “Protect my treasure“ he stated and the crew of pirates was given their ammunition of water guns and water buckets. Brent and his wife Elsa made sure the pirates water guns were always full so they could fend off the bad pirates with their best efforts. Fending off the Vancouver Police Force, Coast Guard and Search & Rescue made for a great effort by the good pirates.
Boat for Hope had already raised over $40,000 this year at the time of the event, by holding fundraising events across the province. Boat for Hope not only creates an incredible and interactive experience for children with special needs but also raises funds to provide health care support directly to children throughout British Columbia. Brent and Elsa mentioned “ this day was so much fun, we surely hope to be back next year”. What an amazing and fun event for everyone, not just the kids!

Flash Mob Of Sea Lions Is Closely Interacting With Scuba Divers
These incredible marine mammals are not only adorable and graceful but are also highly intelligent and extremely friendly, making them the perfect companions for any diving enthusiast. Their energetic and playful nature is guaranteed to turn anyone's trip underwater into an unforgettable experience.
This fascinating video showcases one such incredible encounter in which scuba divers are met by a group of sea lions, eager to interact with them in various ways, including swirling around them and nibbling on their heads. Though their behavior may seem intrusive at first, it is simply their playful personality shining through which has earned them the name of "sea puppies".
Those who decide to partake in this adventure will soon experience the curious and gentle nature of these friendly mammals and will be able to admire them up close in their natural habitat. Given that sea lions are highly social animals, they can often be seen swimming in large colonies. Therefore, upon entering the water, divers may expect to immediately encounter a large group of curious spectators who want to get a close look at their new visitors.
The sea lions in these situations will most likely swim up to and around the divers or even come face to face with them. Some, on the other hand, might remain cautious and merely pop up behind rocks and corals to get a quick glance at the new creatures surrounding them before building trust and finally greeting them.
Their curious nature may sometimes make them come across as intimidating due to the fact that they will often come quite close to the divers, swirl around them, push them around a bit, nibble on their suits or even the top of their heads just as the one in this video. This may then cause some panic or apprehension on the divers' side, but it is important to remember that all of this is completely harmless as sea lions present no threat to humans.
Many places around the world offer diving with sea lions as one of the most popular activities both with tourists as well as locals. Given that it does not require past experience, anyone is able to partake in this adventure and will be properly informed by their guides in order to make the divers as prepared as possible and the dive a wonderful and unique experience in the crystal clear shallow waters where these adorable marine animals reside.
Those who wish may also take photos or video footage of their underwater trip which will always serve as a reminder of this incredible adventure. Therefore, if you are a fan of diving, snorkeling or any other water activity but you are scared to take the big plunge and take part in shark cage diving, then this is the perfect activity for you.
Just one encounter with these magnificent animals will make you fall in love with them and the beauty of their underwater habitat which is guaranteed to turn your scuba diving experience into an unforgettable adventure.

Coronavirus has unbelievable effects on shopping mall
Coronavirus has become one of the worst pandemics throughout the world. Many countries have shut down their borders to traveler other than essential services. We have all be hearing, and reading the daily sadness of deaths, increasing numbers of cases of the cover 19 virus, and the panic buying of items people feel they need to “survive” this virus. There have been many articles on what we all have to do to “flatten the curve”. This means in a short word, what is required to halt the absolute astronomical numbers of the virus spreading at alarming rates. In short, three of these solutions are as follow. Endgame A: flatten the curve. Endgame A is the plan to “flatten the curve” – restricting movements in order to lower the peak in cases, while accepting that infections will continue to grow until the epidemic has run its course.
There will be many deaths. Endgame B: trace and track. Endgame B is to trace and track every infection, something governments are trying to do. Endgame C: stop then restart Endgame C is to “stop then restart”. This means minimizing activity and interactions, and sealing the borders to passenger traffic including citizens (although not trade), until infections are driven down to zero. In Vancouver British Columbia and its outlying areas, precautions are happening and game plans are changing daily. Many stores and shops have shut, and restrictions have been put in place at larger retail stores where groceries and supplies can be purchased. Costco for instance is limiting the number of certain items that can be purchased by each member. Also customer numbers permitted into the store have been limited, creating long waits outside at times. This video footage was recorded by a local man that had a doctors appointment in which his practitioner’s office is located within one of the local malls in Surrey British Columbia. Knowing the shut downs that had been imposed by the government, he was still surprised at the number of stores which were completely shut down. Guessing at the number of closed retailers, it seemed around 95% or more had complete lock down.
The doctors office for instance had security personnel which were allowing only one person into the office at a time, being the person whom had an appointment. As you will see, the small number of people within the mall, were keeping to the “social distancing” requirements of 2 metres or 6-1/2 feet. There is talk of a possible complete shutdown/lockdown of the complete province of British Columbia. During this time of crisis, we must all do our part in keeping safe, as well as keeping everyone else safe. This means keeping your distance from other when you must venture outside your home. Be respectful of people personal space. Spend time with the ones you love and life with, but also be cautious when around family that may not live in your household… practice social distancing. We can get through this! Stay safe everyone!

Trapped sea turtle surfs to freedom
While searching the pools within the rocks at One'uli Black Sand Beach on the island of Maui in Hawaii, this guy noticed one rather large sea turtle that appeared to be having a tough time getting back to the open ocean. Luckily it was able to surf a wave back to freedom.

Radio controlled jet fighters reach incredible speeds
These turbine, real kerosene burning jet powered radio controlled jets classify as a hobby. However, they're not for the faint of heart or shallow pocketed hobbyist! Costing in the area of $10,000, they are not something you want to have a mishap with, but it happens....
There are many different types of jet models, from this double boom type tail, to full on fighter types. Kevin, one of these pilots, has also built and flown CT-114 Tudor models, which are replicas of the full scale aircraft the Canadian Snowbirds demonstration team fly in their routines. These aircraft sound just like the real fighters, sending chills down your spine when you are on the runway edge experiencing a low flyby nearing 200 MPH!
