How to Build Muscle Quickly: The Science-Backed Approach
This episode is full of quick tips and straightforward advice to help you build muscle. Join a gym, take it slow, and focus on rest and compound movements to maximize your time at the gym and achieve your muscle-building goals.
TL;DR
1. The importance of going to the gym (or using bodyweight exercises) to increase muscle mass.
2. Starting with a three-day-a-week gym schedule for beginners and spreading out muscle groups if you can commit to five or six days a week.
3. Muscle building occurs by tearing muscle fibers and letting them regrow to increase muscle mass. Rest is key in the muscle-building process, so it's important to give your muscles 48 hours of rest in between workouts.
4. I recommend focusing on compound movements, multi-joint exercises that hit multiple muscle groups, to save time at the gym.
5. I also emphasize the importance of learning how muscle building works, and understanding that you're tearing muscle, not building it, when you lift weights at the gym.
In conclusion, by going to the gym regularly, focusing on compound movements, and giving your muscles ample rest, you can build muscle in a simple and efficient way.

The Best Exercise Program for Weight Loss #quicktipepisode
As a trainer the most common question I get it is,
"What is the best exercise program for weight loss?"
The answer is always HIIT training
HIIT stands for Hight Intensity Interval Training and is done by tracking Heart Rate Zones. It can be either done with cardiovascular exercise or through circuit training. I prefer the later because circuit training also builds muscle and muscle helps increase our metabolic rate to keep the weight off.
So how do I do HIIT training?
First you need to calculate your Heart Rate Zones:
Step 1: 220 minus Resting Heart Rate
Step 2: Resting Heart Rate times the percentage of your Max
Step 3: Add back your Resting Heart Rate
After you have your zones, then you can work on going in and out over certain intervals of time. For example, one minute on, one minute off.
Do this at least 3 times a week and watch the magic happen!

What is Magnesium?
According to Examine.com, #Magnesium is an essential dietary mineral and the second most prevalent intracellular cation in the body. It also serves as a cofactor for over 600 enzymes. Most notably, magnesium is required for energy production, carbohydrate metabolism, and DNA and protein synthesis.
Magnesium is also an antagonist of #calcium in the body and is required for vitamin D synthesis and activation. As such, magnesium deficiency can inhibit the potential benefits of vitamin D supplementation.[1]

So you went to the doctor and it turns out you have high cholesterol... Now what?
Millions of people a year are diagnosed with high cholesterol but, what does it mean.
Your total cholesterol is considered high if it is above 200 and all it means it is the total value of your LDL and HDLs.
According to the CDC, #cholesterol travels through the blood on proteins called “lipoproteins.” Two types of lipoproteins carry cholesterol throughout the body:
#LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol, makes up most of your body’s cholesterol. High levels of LDL cholesterol raise your risk for heart disease and stroke.
#HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sometimes called “good” cholesterol, absorbs cholesterol in the blood and carries it back to the liver. The liver then flushes it from the body. High levels of HDL cholesterol can lower your risk for heart disease and stroke.
When your body has too much LDL cholesterol, the LDL cholesterol can build up on the walls of your blood vessels. This buildup is called “plaque,” and it can cause health problems, such as heart disease and stroke.
According to multiple studies on PUBMED, dietary cholesterol does not increase your overall cholesterol.
Instead, foods high in #saturatedfat such as certain oils and meats can increase your LDL or lousy lipids and can increase your overall cholesterol
The opposite is true for your HDL or happy lipids which can help breakup that plague and make you healthier.

Should I Have Protein Right After A Workout? (Post-Workout Anabolic Window ) | #QuckTipEpisode
In this video, I address if it's important to have protein IMMEDIATELY AFTER a workout.
Studies show that it may not be a resounding yes. Still, there are definitely more benefits to getting enough protein than there are to not getting enough protein.
For example, according to an article on PubMed, it is only important to have protein if you haven't eaten in 5-6 hours either before or after a workout. If you have, then it won't make things worse but, probably won't make them better either.
However, the biggest issue is not getting enough protein from your diet.
"How much protein should I have?"
➤ The RDA for protein right now is 0.8 g/kg/day and this is WAY TOO LOW! According to multiple new studies, having upwards of 2.2 g/kg/day is way better for our bodies especially athletes and the elderly.

Should I Take Creatine? #creatine
#creatine is the most researched #supplement on the market. With that being said, it is also the most heavily debated, carefully watched and most overwhelming to all amateur weight lifters.
In this episode, I break down all about creatine and I throw a few theories of my own in it.
What is creatine?

"Creatine is a molecule that is produced in the body from amino acids. It's primarily made in the liver and (to a lesser extent) in the kidneys and pancreas.[1][2] Creatine stores high-energy phosphate groups in the form of phosphocreatine. These phosphate groups are donated to ADP to regenerate it to ATP, the primary energy carrier in the body.[3] This role in energy production is particularly relevant under conditions of high energy demand, such as intense physical or mental activity.

Wondering how many calories you should have a day?
Welcome to our first ever Quick Tip Episodes here at Health & Fitness Redefined. In order to figure out how many calories you should eat a day, you need to figure out your BMR.
Your BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate. It is how many calories your body burns at rest. Once you get that number, through a BMR Calculator, you can then figure out how much you need to eat in order to lose weight.
One pound of fat equals 3500 calories. In order to gain a pound of fat, you need to eat 3500 calories over your BMR; if you want to lose weight, you need to eat 3500 calories under your BMR. Most people can eat 500 calories under their BMR a day, which means they should lose one pound of fat every week.

Jimmy's parents were told that as an infant he wasn't going to survive birth, let alone his toddler years. Through all of that hardship at such a young age, he not only survived, but baffled the physicians with how well he was.
It wasn't all roses after those rough years, because Jimmy was born with Autism and had to help survive the rath of public school as he learned to find his way. This lead him down the road to P90x where he picked up his fitness habit.
This gave him the confidence he needed to not only get into fitness but, also public speaking and hosting his own podcast. To him Autism has helped him get where he wants to go and that in itself is truly a miracle.

I ate what I wanted, ran a 15 min/mile and couldn’t tell you the difference between a plank or a pushup. That all changed in college when I began playing intramural sports.
