How Russia Uses Bitcoin in War
Russia, China, North Korea and Iran are using Crypto Currency to circumvent sanctions but at the same time many of NATO's allies are benefiting from Crypto. It's trick to pin down what the correct response is some feel like there should be more government regulation while others believe the freedom of crypto is vital. Bitcoin, Binance and FTX were all a part of these crypto controversies. TRM Labs uncovered several Russian para military groups funding their organization through Telegram and twitter. Russia's war in Ukraine is now pressuring the international financial system. The US Treasury Department is a major power in war that we don't normally consider.

Lockheed Martin is a big business in the military industrial complex. The largest government contractor in the United States and the most massive arms producing & military services company in the world. The American Army, Navy and Air Force all rely on Lockheed's technologies. They employ over 114,000 people of which 60,000 are engineers and scientist. They did 47 billion dollars worth of business with the US government in the year 2021. Lockheed is the reason why the American military is two generations ahead of their adversaries guaranteeing security around the world.

Lockheed Martin creates everything from fighter jets to high tech javelin missile systems. But unlike other countries like Russia and China where their defense industry is entirely owned by the government….Lockheed Martin is a publicly traded company. Forcing us to ask some difficult questions about the military industrial complex. Nuclear weapons, submarines, and aerospace and GPS are all in their preview.

In the 1980s the Soviet Union started experimenting on a next generation assault rifle design so advanced that to this day the US doesn’t have anything that comes anywhere close to its complexity. But maybe that’s a good thing? Maybe your rifle shouldn’t have more moving parts than a rube goldberg machine and come with a twenty page user manual in order to operate. Today it’s still considered a rare find popping up in strange places every so often even in the trucks of Ukranian’s cars. I like it , that’s casual.
The AN94 was originally meant to be the primary weapon for the Soviet Union which would have required a major change in infantry doctrine but there are a number of reasons why it failed. The Rifles development story leads us to answers about the pro’s and cons of how the Russian military industrial complex works.
In this episode we’re going to cover the AN-94 rifle that is used by both Russian Spetsnaz Operators and Ukrainian troops to this day. Let’s analyze how it operates, the right and wrong ways to deploy with it in combat and whether or not its unique fighting doctrine makes any sense. Fire off a quick burst at the like and subscribe button and lets get to it.
DEVELOPMENT
The Story of the AN-94 rifle begins with the famous Russian Gun engineer Gennadiy Nikonov. The fact that he was born in 1950 in the city of Izhevsk makes it seem like he was destined to work in the defense industry because Izhevsk is known as a major hub for Russia’s defense industry, engineering and metallurgy. The city has the title of the armory capital of Russia. Nikonov’s father and mother both worked at Izhmashh, the massive soviet arms factory there talk about being born into something.
The city’s armory itself is legendary. It was first established on June 10th 1807 by Emperor of all Russia Alexander the Ist in response to Napoleon's invasion of Russia. The placement of this small arms plant at Izhevsk was by no means random. Alexander the 1st strategically planned its location at the bank of the Izh River due to its close proximity to the iron works which would solve all of their raw material supply issues. The factory would go on to supply the Imperial Russian army with more than 6,000 of the No.15 17.7mm muskets and Napoleon would end up going back to France freezing cold and totally empty handed.

America’s Infantry modernization program is out of control and I love it! Last month the US Army released footage from Project Convergence, a massive training exercise where they showcased how the next generation digitized grunt will fight. Troops utilized the IVAS helmet mounted heads up display goggles that shows the operator an augmented reality view of GPS maps. It’s wirelessly connected to your weapon so it displays reticle targeting information from your gun straight to your face. Soldiers now deploy with the Android Tactical Assault Kit it’s a smart phone-like device attached to your chest rig. The system lets you control a network of unmanned aerial drones and gives an instant view of enemy location at a glance of your map. And finally gives you the ability to send that perfect giphy to your squad leader.
“Land Warrior” fit perfectly into major changes happening at the top levels of the army. In 1991 the Army Science Board conducted a study that concluded that equipping the soldier for combat is as complex as other programs like the Abrams tank, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Patriot Missile System. In 1996 the concept of Network Centric Warfare was introduced by Admiral William Owens winning over top army planners that GPS connected units was the future. That same year the Joint Chiefs of Staff released their Joint Vision which said high tech information superiority would be the main factor for winning wars. Then Army chief of staff Eric Shinseki built his entire legacy around his 32 billion dollar Future Combat Systems of systems philosophy. The Army Chief of Staff doesn’t control any actual units but he’s the highest ranking officer and his advice is the most influential when it comes to procurement in the entire military. So, Land Warrior happened to fit perfectly into this new vision the army had for a force half the size but twice as well equipped.

Why Putin is Weirdly Betting the Entire War On Bakhmut
National University is perfect for anyone interested in learning again! Find a new exciting career today: Veterans: https://info.nu.edu/military-veteran Active duty: https://info.nu.edu/military
In fact The chairman of the Ukrainian Center of Defense Strategies Andriy Zagorodnyuk, claims Putin likely only allowed Russian commander Surovikin to retreat from Kherson on the condition that he intensifies efforts to capture the rest of Donetsk Oblast. The first step for them now is to grab Bakhmut seemingly at the cost of everything else. Putins got tunnel vision for the city of Bakhmut. Could it actually be more valuable than the Ukrainian Armed force is letting on?
One thing is for sure, this bet on Bakhmut has a bad side effect for Putin. He is now dependent on these Wagner mercenaries and their shadowy leader Yevgeny Prigohizin. Prigozhin has become untouchable as long as Putin remains reliant on him for his only chance of a battlefield advance.
Prigozhin is now able to go around town openly saying negative comments to the Russian press about how regular Russian army units are performing terribly, how Russian politicians are cowards and he disapproves of field commanders. His criticisms of Russian general Lapin may have led to him being fired. Prigohzin is allowed to do all of this with impunity afforded to no one else in Russia. He could be a major threat to Putin’s power.
Intelligence estimates place approximately 30,000 Russian forces deployed in the offensive against Bakhmut making it their largest concentration of forces in the country. Let’s analyse, What’s so important to Vladmir Putin in Bakhmut? Why is Russia betting the entire farm on capturing this seemingly unimportant city of Bakhmut at the cost of everything else.
In order to understand why Russia seems to have tunnel vision on Bakhmut we need to analyze its strategic value. Bakhmut is Located in the eastern Ukraine Donetsk region. At this point 20,000 civilians remain of Bakhumuts original population of 80,000 citizens many have already been evacuated. The surrounding farm lands have been flattened and turned into world war I style trenches. Russia recently annexed Donetsk as part of their recent referendum vote. The UN Secretary-General António Guterres called the referendums a "violation of the UN Charter and international law".
So is Bakhmut really as strategically unimportant as Ukraine claims? In 1701 Russian Tsar Peter the Great first ordered Bakhmut be settled and the salt there to be mined. At the time salt was an extremely valuable commodity and important for food preservation. The strategic importance of the city was once very high.
Today 300 years later The city of Bakhmut is still mainly known for its salt mines that account for 90% of Ukraines salt. However there are conflicting reports of just how much strategic military value Bakhmut actually holds today and I believe there are 4 possible explanations for this.
The 1st theory is that Bakhmut truly holds little strategic value for Russia at all. Evidence of this comes from the fact that there are no major transportation railroad hubs to be found here, no manufacturing industry key to a war effort, and clearly the landlocked city has no major naval ports last time I checked.

L115A3 Brits Sniper Rifle From a Shed to Combat
Get 20% OFF + Free Shipping with code TASK at https://mnscpd.com/task #teammanscaped
The L97A1 British army sniper rifle came into service in 1982. Nicknamed the green meanie it has an old school ancient method of chambering each round with a bolt action. The full powered 7.61x51mm NATO cartridge gives it accuracy past 1,000 meters. It's also called the L115A3 and arctic warfare sniper rifle. So why do modern day snipers use bolt action rifles like the L96A1 when it has a rate of fire of 20 rounds per minute and the M14 sniper rifle can fire 700 rounds per minute. There are a few interesting reasons.
Written by: Chris Cappy and Elliot Hearne
Edited by: Ian Fitzgerald
Bolt actions are a fancy eclectic acquired taste its a special tool for a special job. It’s the fedora wearing culturally educated sniper who uses the precision bolt action rifle. The weapon is a trade off because it takes far longer to chamber the next shot with this cycling system but in return it gives the shooter superior accuracy, better reliability, and lighter overall weight.
These are considerations that are only going to matter to the highest skilled shooters who are engaging at the longest distances possible around 1000 meters or above. The bolt action trigger reported requires less pounds of pressure needed to engage the shot. This can mean slightly smoother trigger pulls which translates to greater accuracy.

Why America is Gladly Giving Away their $50 Billion Truck
The start of the MRAPS story begins in a very unlikely place. We can trace its roots back 40 years before their eventual integration in the US Military during the South African Border War between 1966 and 1990. South Africa was fighting against an insurgency that made use of hit and run ambush style attacks using triple stacked old soviet TM-57 mines.

On October 4th 2022 The US government announced 200 MaxxPro MRAP vehicles were being sent to Ukraine as a part of a new $625 million dollar aid package. This armored truck's unique development story takes us through the biggest change in American defense equipment strategy since World War 2. The MRAP has even recently changed the appearance of the civilian police force in the United States.
The US Army estimates it will need to spend millions of dollars to destroy and get rid of 7,400 MRAPs it no longer needs. The services are getting rid of as many MRAPs as possible — even going so far as to shred thousands in Afghanistan instead of sending them home. The military is selling the shredded metal parts to local Afghans for scrap.
The International Journal of Protective Structures studied the effect of the bend radius against shaped V-hulls. They stated that previous versions of the mine resistant vehicles had too steep of an angle which raised the center of gravity and increased the chances of tipping over. So it’s always been a trade off here between drivers stability vs. protection.

Iran has a population of 83 million citizens making them the 18th most populated nation. They have a lot of neighbors on their borders that very much do not get along with each other including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and Iraq.
Iran is located at the crossroads of Central Asia, South Asia and the middle east making it a strategically important location for trade routes throughout all of history. Their GDP has recently plummeted from 580 billion in 2010 down to 191 billion in 2022 in part due to United States economic sanctions. Iran's defense spending on the other hand has increased by 11 percent in 2021 making them the world’s 14th largest military spender.
So what has prevented Iran from getting conquered by all of these pesky neighbors that essentially have them surrounded? Iran has a secret weapon. Their geography is made up of tall impregnable mountain ranges that encircle their entire country and act kind of like castle walls. The Zagros and Elburz Mountains naturally have their back. The Caspian and Arabian sea all protect against would be invaders. These geographic features are the reason why the highest population density is in the west of the country. The nation is 636,000 square miles in total so it’s bigger than all of western Europe put together.
To understand why Iran is so geopolitically important and why it's such a big interest to NATO today you need only look at its natural resources. Iran holds approximately 10% of the world's proven oil reserves and about 15% of its gas. They are OPEC's second largest exporter and the world's fourth largest oil producer.
Iran is one of the world's most geo-strategic locations because of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the US Energy Information administration there are six straits and canals in the world that act as oil transit chokepoints. These are vulnerable narrow maritime sea routes that could and have been easily blockaded and attacked in the past causing chaos in the world's energy stability. The Iranian Strait of Hormuz is considered to be the GOAT of strategically important oil choke points in the world. 21% of the entire worldwide demand for oil flows through it. These oil reserves are Iran's greatest strength.
An estimated 18.5 million barrels of oil move through the strait of Hormuz per day. At its most narrow point its only 30 miles wide which would make it easy for the Iranian Navy to completely blockade.

America’s New Abrams-X Tank Needs to Chill Out

Earlier this month General Dynamics released footage of their brand new US Army Abrams X prototype that promises to completely change armored fighting doctrine.
We’re now seeing many of the seemingly failed ideas from the scrapped Future Combat Systems program are actually getting resurrected. For instance the General Dynamics Abrams X prototype footage reveals that it’s using the XM360 lightweight 120mm cannon with a ported muzzle break that was originally designed for the FCS program in 2005. It only weighs 4,100 lbs, nearly half the weight of the old 6800 lbs M256 cannon. Benet Labs developed the cannon at their location in Watervliet Arsenal in upstate New York. See I don’t just mispronounce foreign towns.
Benet Labs is the US Army's primary design, development, engineering and production facility for large caliber armament systems since 1887 when the arsenal was founded.

The BMPT Terminator isn’t a tank, and it’s not an armored personnel carrier, nyiet it’s the world’s first Tank Support vehicle! The terminator is specifically designed to increase survivability in the only location tanks are notoriously vulnerable: urban cities. On May 18th 2022 Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency confirmed the deployment of a company of Terminators alongside a few T-72 Tanks in the Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Videos of the scary looking vehicles quickly circulated around Russian military blogger telegram channels and a lot of hullabaloo was made over how these BMP Terminators would protect Russian tanks in the key battle for the city of Severodonetsk. This would be their first major combat test. So what happened to it since then, did it really work as promised? And does its tactics and doctrine really live up to all the hype? Is it going to travel from the future to take out Sarah Connor? Let's answer these questions and more!

Development of the Ukrainian BTR-4 started in the early 2000s after the full completion of BTR-94 fielding in 1999. The first prototype was displayed in 2006, and accepted for military service by Ukraines Ministry of Defense in 2008. One such factory that produced vehicles for the Soviet Union during WW2 but now creates unique Ukrainian tanks is the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau in service since 1927 and Kiev Armored Plant that has been around since 1935.
Fellow history nerds will immediately recognize the KMDB as the company that designed the T-34 which was the backbone of the Soviet tank force in WWII. Is it ironic or coincidence that they are now creating weapons to fight against the Russian army? The Kharkiv Morozov manufactures the BTR4 but from what I could gather on open source intelligence about modern Ukraines armored vehicle production it seems like maybe only the Malyshev Factory in Kharkiv is still operating.

Why Ukraine Special Ops Use This Bullpup. The Malyuk.
Imagine if you could make your weapon half the size while doubling its max effective range. This is the promise of a bullpup rifle design. The Malyuk’s development story perfectly tracks the history of Ukraines small arms industry and how it turned itself around from a state of disrepair after the fall of the soviet union. The creators even say that its recoil is reduced by 50% compared to the AK. This rifle is used by Ukraines most elite special forces as well as its most controversial Azov Battalion. In fact it’s so synonymous with being idenginous to Ukraine that early in the war we saw Russian double agents were captured carrying the Malyuk rifles. They were trying to be disguised to look like Ukrainian Special operators.
Source Article:

uniornically hooah tweets https://twitter.com/Cappyarmy
So are the claims about this mysterious weapon accurate? What’s the best way to use the Malyuk bullpup in combat? And why did the Ukrainian military industrial complex originally create it?
The origin of the system comes from a Ukrainian program in the mid 1990s. Mega Projects . net George Colclough wrote a great article outlining the lackluster condition that Ukraines small arms manufacturing was in following the collapse of the soviet union. You see Ukraine was responsible for 30% of all defense production and 40% of all research and development for the Soviet Union but it was mostly focused on building intercontinental ballistic missiles , tanks and aircraft carriers not small arms. Russia had the large Tula arms plant famous for creating millions of rifles and ammo each year.
The newly independent Ukraine in the early 1990’s had inherited bits and pieces of a small arms industry. They only had small fragments of a complete manufacturing apparatus. Ukraine would now have to successfully coordinate between the 15 different federalized republics where the now privatized small arms plants were located. George Colcough outlines how in 1996 many of these privatized weapons companies were brought under state control when they formed the Ukrspetsexport which was a major part of Ukraines military industrial complex. In the early 2000’s Ukraine turned to this conglomerate for an answer to modernizing their old soviet AK stockpile. The Malyuk is one of those attempts.
The first major Ukranian small arms program was called “vepr. A few prototypes were built from existing soviet era rifles like the RPK, the AKM, AK-74, and even the SKS. The Ukrainian government wanted to refresh their line of left-over soviet AK rifles that were in their inventory using old parts combined with new popular looks like polymer cased rifles.
This obscure 2015 article of Ukrainian defense review has an interview with the vice CEO Serhiy Luhovskoy, who is responsible for creating the rifle. In it he claims the Malyuk has its recoil reduced by 50% compared to the AK, a claim we will further investigate in just a minute.
Serhiy goes on to explain that the Malyuk was originally created as a private venture when the Ukrainian Secret Service SBU requested it.
Malyuk is a Russian & Ukrainian word which directly translates to “ baby boy” which was coincidentally also my squad's nickname for me in Iraq. It was only meant to be a temporary name for the prototype but the name ended up sticking. But You’ll often see the weapon called the Vulcan.
It’s designed and marketed by a private Ukrainian company called IPI. (InterProInvest) located in Kyiv. They’ve been around since 1998 and they’ve grown into somewhat of a big player in the Ukrainian military industrial complex. Interprovest creates not just small arms but fire control systems for tanks and radar systems detect the location of enemy drones.

Why Turkey is the WILDCARD of NATO
Turkey is the best frenemy we have and here's why. President Erdogan has been accused of being a dictator within the NATO alliance. A 2016 coup attempt against his government tried. Russia and the Soviet Union have had a touchy relationship with Turkey for generations. Erdogan is trying to play both sides in this tricky tight rope walking act. Turkey wants to balance Russia and NATO requests. They want to be an impartial mediator but can they pull this off?

Recent evidence from the front lines suggests some answers about whether or not the Ukraine armed forces would be helped against the Russian military with this weapon system. The Vortex XM154 1-8x optic would give troops 800 meters of max range 3000 feet per second muzzle velocity but 70 less rounds.
This video is a thought experiment on the Ukraine war as the kind of near peer battle that the XM5 SPEAR rifle was designed specifically for. We've learned a lot of interesting information on where battles take place in this kind of warfare and it might challenge our notions before hand.
