Why Taliban Attacked Iran with U.S Weapons

On May 27th of 2023, Taliban soldiers attacked an Iranian military border checkpoint using their captured U.S. military weapons and vehicles that were left behind during the Afghanistan withdrawal. Some internet meme lords claimed the CIA was playing tactical 4D chess purposely leaving behind $7 billion dollars worth of military equipment to arm the Taliban against their larger adversary Iran. But the attack is actually part of a much larger pattern of escalation between the two countries over an ongoing major water dispute.
Written by: Chris Cappy & Patrick Griffin

Since the Afghanistan portion of the river is on the upstream side, the Taliban now control the flow of the river into Iran. Over 90 percent of Iran’s 87 million people faced drought conditions in 2023 which is why this conflict is so important to their survival. At this point a lot of people watching this who aren’t fans of the Taliban or Iran might be relating to the words of Henry Kissinger who once said “It's a pity they both can't lose." The fact is there has been a long history of conflict between the Taliban and Iran. So Could this new battle lead to an Iranian invasion of Afghanistan? It’s not that hard to imagine because we’ll see this isn’t even the first time these two have been on the brink of all out war.

Because From China’s perspective controlling the Xinjiang region is absolutely necessary to guarantee their position as a global superpower. Without an iron clad control over Xinjiang it would mean China’s multi billion dollar belt and road investment projects that connect to the rest of the world and their national security would fail. They would lose control of oil pipelines and natural resources that would jeopardize their security. The Xinjiang region is too strategically important for them to allow an independence movement there to get off the ground which is what they claim they are facing from the Ugyhur population.

Xinjiang is a buffer zone to eight countries on China’s border some of which have stability issues. And many people don’t know but the region is home to China’s sensitive nuclear weapons testing sites. Which there has been satellite evidence that they are getting ready to resume testing soon new Lop Nur. This is a dried up salt lake in Xinjiang where China has conducted 40 nuclear tests since they first started in 1964. They’ve built five underground nuclear tests at Lop Nur.
From China’s point of view expanding their borders to the west to its natural geographic boundaries of the mountain range is vital to their security no matter who lives there, extremists or not. From their perspective it’s like a version of the United States Manifest destiny when the US expanded to California in the mid 1800s. This is likely why China thought the west would be sympathetic to their operations in Xijang because according to them it resembled the US war on terror and US expansion west.

Why Wagner Coup ACTUALLY Stopped before Moscow
On the night of June 23rd at 21:00 Prigozhin posted video footage of a Wagner camp that he claimed was deliberately struck by Russian forces killing dozens of his men. This might have been a false flag operation. A fake attack designed to justify the armed rebellion that would follow. Then Prigozhin released a series of statements on telegram that were aimed at every regular Russian soldier, he requested they join him in what he called his “ march of justice” against the incompetent Russian military leadership in the ministry of defense that had misled President Putin and lied to him to get him into the Ukraine war.
Written by: Chris Cappy
Edited by: Savvy Studios
On June 24th at 4:44 in the morning he took between 8,500 and 4,000 of his most loyal mercenaries and up to 350 pieces of heavy equipment to take over the South Military district command in Rostov. Prigozhin claimed he had 25,000 mercenaries with him but that was likely an eggeration based on visual estimates of his forces.
He had with him nine main battle tanks, some T-90, four Tigr vehicles, a Grad MLRS system, and a howitzer, a Pantsir S-1 air defense systems, and infantry fighting vehicles. If his plan was going to work Prigozhin needed to leverage his social media influence to convince regular Russian troops to revolt and join his small group of soldiers. He didn’t have enough manpower on his own. The reason he didn't call this action a coup is two fold. First because it would be harder for Russian soldiers to swallow. They would be less sympathetic to join a coup which is seen as treason. But to revolt against the terrible Russian military leadership…. that they might stomach. Second, Not calling it a coup also gave him wiggle room to cut a deal if his plan failed he could say it was just simply a protest.
Let's look at what signals did Prigozhin have in front of him at the moment that might indicate he could convince regular Russian soldiers to join him? We know many Russian soldiers haven't been paid and haven’t gotten leave to go home in months. Instead of the $2,560 they are owed each month Russian soldiers say they have been paid several times less than that each paycheck. Some regular soldiers and conscripts have complained about not being paid in two months straight. There are two things you cannot mess with when it comes to soldiers, you cannot screw with their paycheck and you can’t screw with their chow. Prigozhin also claimed Russian casualties are many times higher than reported by their ministry of Defense. If soldiers feel their lives are being wasted away they might be at a tipping point to revolt.

US Army's MOST Powerful Laser Gun Deployed to Combat
Raytheon Laser systems protect people and assets from dangerous drones. 8 have been delivered to US forces already and have been proven in the field. These systems are rugged and integrate directly into existing air defenses. For more information about this incredible anti-drone technology, visit: https://bit.ly/44mGAtU
This is why for the past 3 years the U.S. Department of Defense has spent roughly $1 billion dollars a year in research and development for what is known within the defense industry as "directed energy" weapons. In 2018 the (DOD) actually officially identified Directed Energy weapons as one of 11 technologies that are absolutely critical to enabling the 2018 National Defense Strategy. This technology has been in development for decades but it's only been in the last few years that the military has really doubled down on investing the necessary funds into its development after it started to show real practical combat use for the first time.
Written by: Chris Cappy
Edited by: Michael Michaelides
The reason for this is a 2017 test where a 5 kilowatt laser was able to defeat a number of small rotary and fixed-wing UAVs for the first time.
Everytime you hear about a new sword to be afraid of like hypersonic missiles a new shield is developed sometimes soon after, and Directed Energy Weapons could be the solution that is fast enough, like speed of light fast enough, to shoot down hypersonic missiles.
According to a new Government accountability office report these high energy lasers can blast a range of threats right out of the sky including enemy drones, mortars, artillery shells and even cruise missiles. All for mere pennies on the dollar. China, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, and Pakistan are also all trying to develop military-grade directed-energy weapons. Iran and Turkey claim to already have them in active service.

China's Stolen Stealth Fighter is Better Than You Think
Thank you Ridge Wallet for sponsoring today’s video. Check them out here: https://ridge.com/taskandpurpose and use code ""TASKANDPURPOSE"" to get 10% off
China’s mighty dragon J-20 stealth fighter jet aims to outmatch the American F-35 and F-22 fighters, it wants to dominate the skies over the South China Sea and ensure air superiority in the event of a war with the United States. but is it really all that great or is it just a cheap Aliexpress knock off version? To be fair, Xi Jinping's air force is getting a large part of the beefed up modernization budget and it appears to be paying off in some ways. Experts estimate China to have at least 200 J-20s in service today. So this isn’t one of those adversarial weapons that we hear will exist one day in the far distance like Russia’s T-14 armata tank, nope this thing is actually here already.
And these are exactly the kind of interceptor jets that are deployed in incidents like In August 2022, when their air forces responded to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan by breaking records with 446 aircraft incursion into Taiwan airspace in a single month. But are any of the J-20’s capabilities unique or did China tactically acquire all of them? Tactically acquire is a lower enlisted way of saying steal it. Although this time its not just the United States claiming the jet was stolen Russia is also crying foul. We’ll also speculate on whether or not American radar systems detect this new Chinese stealth fighter, And how is the J-20 optimized for anti-access area denial - which is China’s main strategy and tactic for dominating in the South China Sea.

America's NEW F-15-EX Dominates Disputed Air Space
Get Your Own Mini GOAT Replica Today! https://bit.ly/43fk7yv
The American F-15 EX is a new super interceptor fighter jet that is designed to patrol some of the world's most disputed air space in the south China Sea and Eastern Europe. In fact NATO scrambled jets 570 times more than once per day in 2022 to respond to Russian aircraft. And Japan is forced to scramble F-15’s every time China violates their airspace. The number of Chinese airspace incursions has jumped up from 96 in 2010 to 675 in 2019.
But critics have been quick to point out the F-15 is ancient. It was originally manufactured in 1976 and is headed into retirement. Many are questioning the logic of investing millions of dollars into upgrading the F-15 into the EX. Because it seems like a step backwards in this modern fancy era of stealth technology. But the truth is it’s not that simple. The new F-15 will have some weapons and flight capabilities that modern stealth aircraft lack. Fire an aim 9 sidewider at the like button and lets get started.
Written by: Chris Cappy & Justin Taylor
Edited by: Michael Michaelides
In producing the F-15EX we admittedly took the long scenic route. So the way it happened was during the early 2000s the F22 was supposed to replace the aging F15 but it’s program’s budget was slashed by 75%. This led to only 195 aircraft purchased which is a third of what the US air force originally wanted. In 2009 The F-22 production lines were completely shut down and are impossible to restart. This forced the air force to keep the old F15 past its expiration date in order to maintain a fleet size large enough to respond to air space violations in Europe and the pacific at the same time.
So in order to solve for the lack of F-22s the United States Air Force decided to order 104 of the new upgraded F-15EX multirole fighter, marking the first order of F-15s in over 20 years.
Earlier this year, the United States Air Force announced that after two years of extensive testing and study, their latest upgrades to the F-15 platform dubbed the EX had actually ‘smashed a new record’ in terms of capabilities and expectations. What this means is that it is able to perform as both a fighter and bomber except at a much lower cost than the F35. Now according to Boeing the new plans will extend the service life of the aircraft well into the 2030s, which would make it the longest serving fighter aircraft in American history.
Unsurprisingly like all decisions involving the military industrial complex it was met with a bunch of support and criticism from political leaders and internet forums trolls. But To be fair you can understand where they are coming from. The sticker price on a new F-15EX will run you about $80 million, while the most recent batches of F-35As cost only slightly less at $78 million, leading many to rightfully question why the government has decided to spend more money on an old aircraft originally built in 1976 with zero stealth capabilities. I think a lot of it comes down to its interceptor and escort abilities.

Why Australia is Gladly Preparing for War
If you’re ever injured in an accident, you can check out Morgan & Morgan. Their fee is free unless they win. For more information go to https://www.wordontheblock.biz/r/2313/86/?s=FOR_THE_PEOPLE
Australia is preparing for war in order to avoid it. Their historic new increase in defense spending and China’s dependence on them for iron ore make them an important ally. Australia’s defense funding for 2024 will be $35 billion USD, just over 2% of their GDP, and up from $20 billion in 2021. They’ve signed a new trilateral security agreement with the United States and United Kingdom that will give the Australian Navy a new weapon that only 6 other nations in the entire world have. Major upgrades are being made to their northern army, air and naval bases. But all of this was done at a major cost. China has boycotted $4 billions of dollars worth of Australian products in an attempt to coerce them into bending to their will.

located in the Indo-Pacific region they have become more strategically important in light of the US China security competition. Both great powers require resources from Australia. This means the democratic nation of Australia will play a crucial role if we’re headed into some kind of second cold war here.
The Australian defense forces down under will grow by 30 percent once the new plan is implemented, the country’s permanent military ranks will increase from 59,000 to nearly 80,000. But will it be too little too late? Let's look at the revolutionary new weapon systems that Australia is choosing to invest in, why the nation is so geopolitical important and whether or not China’s attempts to coerce Australia have been successful.
Australia, a nation of relatively small population of 25 million people while being the world's 6th largest country by size. Australia has an abundance of natural resources most important of which is their crude iron ore mines. One of the reasons for their geopolitical importance is they have the world's largest iron ore reserves estimated to be 51 billion metric tons or 30 percent of the world's entire supply.
This should give us a hint as to why China needed Australia so badly for the past two decades. Iron ore is essential to make steel which is necessary to build a strong industrial base. China needed this iron ore to build infrastructure projects, roads, highways, defense products and their entire belt and road project. Beijing imports 60% of their iron ore from Australia, and is heavily dependent on the commodity. Why can’t China mine their own iron ore supply domestically? China would need to develop hundreds of new mines, which would require an enormous amount of water and energy and expertise that their mining industry just doesn't have right now.

India's Fight Against China is an Absolute Nightmare
Thank you Ridge Wallet for sponsoring today’s video. Check out https://ridge.com/taskandpurpose for up to 40% off through June 15th.
India and China have clashed in deadly brawls on their disputed border multiple times recently. An estimated 60,000 Chinese soldiers are positioned on India’s border, with main battle tanks, fighter jets and artillery facing off against 200,000 Indian forces on the other side. This is the border between the world’s two most populous nations both armed with plenty of nuclear weapons, so the consequences of this conflict extend far beyond Southeast Asia. It might as well be happening on the border with my neighbor Carl. editor note show population numbers over map animation. But what exactly are these two giants fighting over in this inhospitable 4,000 meter high altitude freezing region that is so strategically important?
Written by: Chris Cappy & Brian Sproule
Edited by: Michael Michaelides
Why are they fighting with sticks and stones when they have perfectly good rifles right next to them? and how can we hope to avoid all-out conflict between India and China? Hit the like button and let's get started. (Jayadeva Ranade) A former Indian National Security Advisory, believes he knows the truth about why China has recently become more aggressive in the region. It’s because Xi Jingping needs to protect his new China Pakistan economic corridor. This is Xi Jinping's most expensive belt and road project over the past decade at $65 billion dollars. When you hear about “belt and road” all the other projects are a total sideshow compared to this. Because the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor. CPEC will add a new 10,000 km shorter route for oil transport from the middle east to enter western China.
This will eliminate China’s single greatest strategic vulnerability to the US navy blockading and cutting off their energy supply. There’s only one problem: it's located just a few kilometers from India’s disputed border with Pakistan. And to make matters worse, it’s located inside Pakistan Occupied Kashmir so the roads and railways pass directly through territory that has been claimed by India as their own. It would be like if my neighbor Carl started expanding his driveway into the weird place between our yards where we’re not sure who owns it but we agreed neither of us would start construction there. Cut that out Carl. According to India this project is being built in illegally occupied territory. So India has tens of thousands of soldiers located a few kilometers away from this strategically important trade route for China.
In September 2020, India’s Chief of Defence Staff (General Bipin Rawat) acknowledged this very problem stating “Chinese economic cooperation with Pakistan, in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, along with continued military, economic and diplomatic support mandate high levels of preparation by us.” One of my favorite proverbs from India is “where the needle goes the thread follows” I think CPEC has accelerated tensions on the border. Because in response to Chinese build up in 2021 India shifted 50,000 additional troops to their border with China to reinforce the region. They did this by taking 20,000 troops and 6 army divisions off their western border with rival Pakistan to prioritize defense against China instead. This represents a 40% increase in force strength from 2020.

China's Troops Get Smoked in First Combat Diaster
Get Your Own non firing tiny 1:3rd scale model Mini GOAT Replica Today! https://bit.ly/43d8g3R
In July 2016, Chinese UN Peacekeeping soldiers found themselves in the middle of an all-out war in the South Sudanese capital of Juba. This is the first time Chinese troops were tested in combat in 4 decades so there’s a lot we can learn about the PLAs capabilities from this battle. After the fiasco the individual Chinese soldiers and commanders of the United Nations peacekeeping mission were criticized for failing to protect the citizens and millions of dollars worth of humanitarian resources. A Washington based Non profit analysis of the battle found Chinese soldiers had abandoned their posts and refused orders to return fire, but is this actually the case or is the fog of war more complicated than that?
Written by: Chris Cappy & Diego Aceituno
Edited by: Savvy Studios
What does the battle of Juba tell us about the way the People's Liberation Army fights? How have these little known events from 2016 changed the Chinese military and foreign policy today? And what strategic interests does China have in South Sudan that brought them there in the first place?
China has been a member of the UN security Council since 1971 but initially refused to contribute forces or budget to UN peacekeeping. Then in the 1990’s China began sending non combatant personnel to support United NAtions operations including engineers and agricultural advisors. But there was a major change to this policy in 2015. China’s new president, Xi Jing Ping, decided to send a combat infantry to support UN peace keeping. This proactive approach was a major change to Chinese long standing policy of non interference in foreign affairs. This change of heart was partly driven by China’s growing energy needs. South Sudan is the first international location of China’s state owned national petroleum corporation. They have a 40% stake in a joint venture that operates South Sudan's major oil fields.

US Army Strikes on Mexican Cartels is Worse Than You Think
Get Your Own Model Mini GOAT Replica Today! https://bit.ly/3OkZ3C7
Is the US government really calling for legislation to invade Mexico and destroy the cartels? On March 7, 2023, 2 American tourists were by the cartel while visiting Mexico. In response Senator Lindsay Graham announced his plan to introduce a bill that would lay the groundwork for authorizing the use of U.S. Military Force against Mexican cartels. A major step as the pentagon typically just advises and assists with anti-narcotics operations. But this new bill would bestow upon the Mexican cartels the unique honor of becoming one of only 65 foreign terror organizations in the world.
Written by: Chris Cappy & Brian Sproule
Video Edited by: Michael Michaelides
This FTO designation would have many consequences, among them it would authorize the use of US military Targeted drone strikes with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, nighttime American special forces surgical raids on cartel leaders as they sleep, satellite intelligence assets refocused on the southern border. Supporters say this will give the US government more powerful lethal tools to destroy the cartel. Critics claim it could ruin a relationship with an important strategic ally.
Declarations like this are controversial and have understandably alarmed the Mexican government. It’s called into question the correct role of the US military in counter narcotics. From Mexico’s perspective it’s easy to see how they might not see much of a distinction between a targeted missile strike on a drug lab and a full blown invasion.
In 2019 an attack by cartel members had 9 US citizens lives ended and 5 others injured in Mexico inside an area just south of Arizona where rival cartels are still at war. These cartel groups are fighting to secure smuggling routes close to the U.S. border and this activity leads to mistaken identity, cross fire, and sometimes targeted attacks against innocent Americans. US Texas Army National Guard soldiers on the border with Mexico have been shot by machine guns and taunted by heavily armed cartel members across the Rio Grande. This has promoted the US embassy to issue safety warnings advising Americans against traveling to certain dangerous regions in Mexico.

MIG-29 Fighter Jet Really Needs to Chill Out
It’s Navy Federal Credit Union’s mission to help members reach their financial goals. Visit https://nfcu.me/3AscrMS to learn more. They were founded over 90 years go with the mission of helping military members and their families. That’s why they have products and services tailored to our community at any stage of your financial journey.
The NATO countries of Poland and Slovakia are sending approximately 33 Mig-29 replacement fighter jets to Ukraine in an effort to regain some of the lost air capabilities. However aviation experts are questioning just how much of an impact the old 1980’s soviet aircraft technology could really hope to have on the modern battlefield. The 4th generation MIG Fulcrum brings its 30mm autocannon and incredible mach 2 speed to the table but Ukrainian pilots are insisting they need western American F-16’s to dominate the skies but the thing is the grandpa F-16 is just as old as the MIG29 so what’s that all about?
Written by: Chris Cappy & Justin Taylor
Video Edited by: Savvy Studios
Ukraine began the war with a stock of 50 operational MIG 29 Fulcrums that they had inherited from the soviet union after its collapse; today the Ukrainian air force is estimated to have lost 17 as of April of 2023. The Fulcrum was used extensively by both countries, with the famous Ukrainian “Ghost of Kiev” himself being a MIG 29 pilot with heroic tales of shooting down multiple enemy jets. Although it turned out that specific pilot didn’t actually exist, the air combat that the stories are based on, did. Thanks to social media we can now experience the conflict through the eyes of the real life Ukrainian MIG-29 pilots like Maj. Vadym Voroshylov callsign Karaya who managed to shoot down 5 enemy Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drones and 2 cruise missiles before being hit by debris from one of the enemy drones he had just hit and being forced to eject. If you follow MIG-29 tik tok then you’ve probably seen the great @operatorthunder videos told from the point of view of a missile guidance system rapidly on its way to ruin a Russian MIG-29 pilots day.
In fact when we dig into the actual numbers the majority of combat aircrafts lost on both sides aren’t from air to air dogfights that the F-16 would have a major edge in. Instead they are suffering from very similar vulnerabilities that ground armored vehicles are facing. Man portable guided munitions fired from the IGLA launcher and the S300 and ground fired cruise missiles make up over half of aircraft lost in the war so far. So for instance Seven Ukrainian MIG-29’s were lost while on the ground at their respective airbases from two separate Russian missile strikes. 8 were lost in various forms of air combat including to enemy jets and ground fire. HOWEVER the lack of air to air losses are likely because the Fulcrum doesn’t have the capabilities needed to confidently engage in that kind of combat. Ukraine for their part has successfully downed over 70 Russian combat aircraft using these same techniques. This has led to Russia failing to gain air superiority and also largely avoiding flying their advanced aircraft anywhere near the frontline anymore.

Russian Military's North Pole Expansion is a Nightmare
Thank you Ridge Wallet for sponsoring today’s video. Check out ridge.com/taskandpurpose for up to 40% off through June 15th.
The Arctic region is quietly becoming the location of intense new competition between the great powers of US, China and Russia that could lead to direct conflict. This is because declining sea ice each year is opening up two new shorter shipping routes and revealing trillions of dollars worth of resources from oil to rare earth metals necessary for high tech weapon production. These new maritime trade routes will cut roughly 9,000 kilometers off a one-way trip between Europe and Asia instead of having to go through the Suez Canal. That’s 40% shorter. “Are we there yet?” “Yes Xi Jingping we already got there yesterday”
On Top of that, According to a U.S Geological Survey, there are 90 billion barrels of untapped oil and 44 billion barrels of liquid natural gas in the Arctic. That accounts for 22% a fourth of the total undiscovered fossil fuel resources in the entire world. Looks like the arctic region is begging for a little freedom. Now here’s the situation. Every single major military is competing for this big fat juicy opportunity wanting to just sink their teeth into the far north like some kinda ravenous polar bear.
The US Department of Defense has been accused of sleeping on this issue and been slow to react since they haven’t invested in arctic warfare capabilities since the Soviet Union dissolved and they thought that was at least one thing they didn’t have to worry about anymore. Now NATO is now in a position where they are playing catch up against Russia and China in the arctic. The First move the DoD made to remedy this was to establish the Arctic Strategy and Global Resilience Office in 2022 to command this new initiative. Then they based the US Air Force’s most advanced aircraft wings in Alaska which increased forces at Air Force Base by 50%. This means there are now two full squadrons of 54 F-35s and 48 F-22′s, making Alaska the only place in the world now with over 100 fifth-generation aircraft on location making Santa Claus look like he’s flying slow.

How Combat is Changing Peace Talks in Ukraine

The outcome of the upcoming Ukrainian counter offensive has a chance to once again influence the conditions in the negotiation room. It was Prussian General Carl Von Clausewitz who said “War is politics by other means” a famous quip that relates directly to peace negotiations because we’ll see how the war conditions on the ground end up shaping the conditions of the politics in the negotiation room.
Ultimately it will be up to Ukraine if they want to choose to negotiate and on what terms they are willing to accept. Today we’ll try to understand how combat has influenced the peace talks so far, China’s attempts to negotiate a peace, and recent changes to international peace treaties.

Korea's Rapid Fire Artillery Needs to Chill Out
Get Your Own Mini GOAT Replica Today! https://bit.ly/40eyDEE
The 155mm K9 Thunder is combat proven against North Korea. Today it’s an extremely successful vehicle; with over 1,700 have been produced. Each one costs about $2.9 million dollars per unit so you could almost trade one in for the cost of a single home in America. The K9 has many of the capabilities that originally were supposed to be in the United States prototype XM2001 Crusader. But that $11 billion dollar program was canceled.

With its new fire control system it offers an insanely high rate of fire at 10 rounds per minute; That’s 4 rounds per minute faster than the old technology. So this is what you call in when you need an entire mountain removed from the face of the earth.

Why America Spends $800 Billion to Prepare for War

US dod Spending research link:
https://www.usaspending.gov/explorer/agency
It’s common knowledge that the United States has by far the largest military budget in the world, you often hear the phrase “America spends more on their military than the next nine countries combined.” which is as impressive as it is controversial. When discussing the military budget, it’s often surrounded by talks of reducing it or spending the money on other projects. And that controversy is completely valid with the US military budget consuming approximately half of all discretionary federal spending the country would benefit from many of the wasteful programs being cut and corruption being stamped out. The US Department of Defense is the only Federal agency unable to pass an independent audit 30 years after Congress required it to do so. So it’s entirely reasonable to question why nearly $800 billion is spent on defense.
Written by: Chris Cappy & Justin Taylor
Edited by: Savvy Studios
Let’s talk about some raw numbers first. The American Department of Defense received a fiscal year 2023 budget of $797 billion, 6.8 billion above what was requested for the fiscal year, and 69 billion more than the fiscal year 2022 budget. Currently the American military has about 2.1 million members in uniform, 1.328 million of those being active duty service members, and the remaining 800,000 serving in the reserves, or national guard. This makes the United States by far the largest gross spender on defense, but only 3rd in terms of military size, with India and China both having larger standing armies, so why are we spending so much more if other countries seem to have no problem spending so much less on more troops?

Ukraine New Counter Offensive Rundown 2023

Last year in 2022 Ukraine launched a major successful counter offensive that retook thousands of kilometers of land in the Kharkiv and Kherson region. Now In 2023 analysts are suspecting yet another offensive may be on the horizon for Ukrainian forces once western tanks and equipment have been delivered.
Thousands of new Ukrainian army recruits are training in newly created units that are specifically tailored for offensive operations; their forces have grown from 260,000 at the start of the war to a million today.

According to the new york times, Ukraines military command has been holding back their most elite soldiers and saving them from the worst of the fighting in Bakhmut so they could throw them into this offensive campaign instead as a kind of ace in the hole. Ukraine is now combat tested and battle hardened after a year of sharpening their skills. But recently leaked us intelligence reports paint a difficult picture of the challenges ahead.
According to western estimates approximately 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded. The CSIS estimates Russian soldiers have suffered 250,000 casualties since the start of the war.
One of the ways Russia is trying to mitigate these 101 newbie problems is by releasing official cartoon training videos that show troops the correct way to build trenches and defensive positions. It’s an odd cartoon style that reminds me of the old WW2 training videos mixed with the fallout 3 video game aesthetic. Wait a second I'm pretty sure deadpool would be on the Ukrainian side.
On the other side, Reuters reported how 40,000 new Ukrainian soldiers were specially trained as part of a storm assault unit with each new trooper taking four months to train from civilian to grunt. This is because offensive operations are exponentially more difficult than defensive warfare. It’s easier to teach a cat to go on a walk than it is to teach thousands of soldiers how to coordinate, communicate and maneuver under fire. There are 8 new storm brigades that will be used in the coming offensive, each of which have benefited from an extensive social media and recruitment campaign in Ukraine that has taken place since February that focused on the idea of getting revenge against Russia. Personally if you ask me that's a better recruitment angle than Russia’s advertisement which calls their own citizens out for not being men for working as security guards.

India's Problem with Russia is Worse Than You Think
India historical geopolitical partnership with Russia is now being tested. Today India is the world’s largest buyer of Russian military hardware accounting for 20% of Moscow’s orders. India has become the 3rd largest buyer of Russian oil at $24 billion dollars annually. But the reality of why India feels they need to work with Russia is far more complicated than you might imagine and it all has to do with their attempts to build an economy and military powerful enough to counter what they believe is their biggest threat. Their neighbor China.

In order to understand India’s complicated relationship with Russia we need to recognize that this is nothing new. India has maintained political, economic and strategic ties with Moscow ever since the Cold War, something that Washington has been upset about. In fact the US is preparing a military aid package for India worth $500 million dollars. If this deal went through it would make India one of the largest recipients of US military aid, behind only Israel and Egypt. This is designed of course to curb India’s long historical reliance on Russian and soviet military equipment. Because even though India has close ties with Russia they are also considered a strong ally of the United States. And this is key to understanding India’s strategy. Of course Moscow is obviously upset about India’s close relationship with the United States. Apparently It’s considered controlling to tell your friends who they can and cannot be friends with.

Why Russia REALLY wants Moldova
Go to https://buyraycon.com/taskandpurpose for 15% off your order! Brought to you by Raycon.
Leaked Russian documents called the Moldova strategy confirm Putin's plans to destabilize Moldova and bring them back into their sphere of influence by 2030. Moldova is a small land locked nation between Romania and Ukraine that is seen as being torn between Russian and Western influence. The U.S. Government has generally considered Moldova together with Georgia and Ukraine as three countries that are seeking greater integration with the West while at the same time coping with separatist territories and separatist conflicts that have been fostered by Russia.
Written by: Chris Cappy & Justin Taylor
Edited by: Savvy Studios
So what do these documents reveal about Russia’s overall strategy and their own perspective on how events are unfolding in the region? On March 14th Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean took one look at the Moldova Strategy leaked documents and said “The Russians have tried for a very long time to make sure Moldova does not have sovereignty over its foreign policy,” Meanwhile Putin accused Ukraine of staging a false flag Russian invasion of Moldova in order to give Ukraine the green light to invade. Last time I checked Ukraine is not the one invading a neighboring country. This is where Transnistria comes into the picture. It’s a small pro-russian territory in Eastern Moldova located along the Black Sea bordering Ukraine, that also happens to identify as an independent country, but one else recognizes this.
I’d like to identify as an independent Nation of Cappynistira, there now I dont have to pay taxes. Just last week Moscow-backed Transnistrian authorities claimed they arrested two terrorists who had planned to assassinate Vadim Krasnoselsky the president of Transnistria, blaming Ukraine for the plot. But it gets more complicated than that. In early February of this year, Russia rescinded an official decree from 2012 that guaranteed Moldova’s sovereignty, essentially saying that they no longer respect the Moldovan government’s right to independence or territorial integrity, and this comes shortly after Ukrainian president Zelensky’s warning that Russia was seeking to force out Moldova’s pro-Western leadership.

Why Poland Switched to their New Borsuk Infantry Vehicle
If you’re ever injured in an accident, you can check out Morgan & Morgan. Their fee is free unless they win. For more information go to https://www.wordontheblock.biz/r/2313/86/?s=FOR_THE_PEOPLE
Poland is making huge strides towards accomplishing their goal of becoming the largest land force in Europe by signing a framework agreement to produce nearly 1,400 Borsuk Infantry Fight Vehicles. The development of this new armored vehicle tracks a unique time in Poland's history where they have rapidly upscaled their defense manufacturing capability and shows how their nation is capable of creating their own homegrown advanced defense equipment.
Poland’s President recently signed into law a bill that increases defense spending to 3% or possibly even up to 4% of GDP going forward. It will more than double the number of troops serving in the Polish Armed Forces, up to 300,000 and those new soldiers will need wheels to ride in. That's where the Borsuk comes into play.

The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl is Mexico Army's new updated primary rifle firing the 5.56mm ammo. Since 2006 when Mexico’s former president Cauldron initially launched their country’s war on drugs. The drug cartels are going to be afraid of this new weapon. This might have been in the hands of the cartel who kidnapped 4 americans on the Mexican American border in 2023. Jualisco cartel and el chap should fear the rifle.
By July 2019 approximately 155,000 FX-05 rifles have been produced with plans to continue pumping out even more. With a name that translates from the ancient Aztec word for “Fire Serpent,” the FX-05 is a homegrown weapon that we’ll see how its design is actually uniquely well suited to battle it out against the cartels.

Poland's New Combat Tank Needs to Chill Out

The South Korean K-2 Black Panther has a fascinating history. In the same way the Japanese relied on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to produce their T90 and Type 10 main battle tanks, the South Koreans turned to Hyundai Rotem, an affiliate of the Hyundai Motor Group, to provide improved performance in the 21st century network battle environment through improved ergonomics and digitalization.

It carries a three-man crew consisting of the commander, gunner, and driver protected by NBC capability, inertial navigation, and a GPS battlefield management system networked with identification friend or foe (IFF). The panoramic sights of the gunner and commander are stabilized in two axes and include a thermal imager and laser rangefinder, allowing for day and night observation to improve situational awareness. And to top it off, the cabin is fitted with an air-conditioning system and an interface that allows the tank to be operated by just two or one crewman.

Foreign Fighters Surprising Impact in Ukraine
Thank you Ridge Wallet for sponsoring today’s video. Check out https://ridge.com/taskandpurpose for up to 40% off through March 26th.
In this Ukraine War Update, One of the less covered aspects of the war in Ukraine is the effect tens of thousands of foreign fighters have had on both sides. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that directly following the invasion on 6 March 2022 more than 20,000 transnational volunteers from 52 different countries had enlisted in their newly formed International Legionnaires unit to fight for Ukraine. Similarly there are an estimated 20,000 foreign mercenaries fighting on Putin’s side including volunteers from Syria and Libya.

But are these transnational volunteers still on the front lines today, what challenges do they face, and what can foreign fighters reveal to us about how effective each side's justification is for fighting?
