TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Last train 2019 - Banks swallowed by angry river
(NON NARRATED VERSION)
The last day of 2019 I started out quite early doing two trips to Bergen from Voss in the Local Service.
The winter has this far been unusually unstable with some days with snow and cold before turning warm and wet. The ground has absorbed as much water as it can take so the water coming now is just flowing on top of it and straight to the rivers. The river of course grows fast and ends up going over the banks and getting pretty close to the tracks.
Added the return to Voss on this trip and and after parking the train on track 7 we get to se the Beilhack snow blower coming down from a mission on the mountain pass.
Enjoy.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW PREMIERE: Winter Wonderland in the Halling Valley
I've been working the Ål - Oslo part quite a lot lately, which means higher average speed, less tunnels and more forest. This day was particularly picturesque view of the Halling Valley.

TRAIN DRIVER PLAYS: TSW2020 - Taking on Germany
A little premiere of the "Secret" room in the Finse Tunnel at the beginning, and then I did two scenarios in TSW 2020, with very mixed results LOL!
There has been a lot of questions regarding the spur that leads off inside the Finse Tunnel. Where does it lead? Where does it end? And what's in there? Well, I'll show you.
You can also see drill bits still stuck in the wall in the stubs. The turn table was used to turn the plow train before they started using the Beilhack.
Enjoy!

I was on a position run (empty train) with the new VY-colored train from Drammen to Bergen. Had to wait a while for the train in front of me to reach the next station. Got permission from the traffic controller to go into the "secret" room in the Finse tunnel. With other words, there were no passengers.
Enjoy!

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: From Little Ål to the Big City Oslo
Taking over at Ål and driving Train 62 (Bergen - Oslo morning express) to Oslo. I was hoping for truly winter wonderland on this trip, but we had some very warm weather coming in from the west and temperature went form -10 to + 4°C with heavy rain. You can clearly see how the rain eroded the snow that stuck. Always great to get a trip to Oslo!
I was planing to do some city shots etc, but the GoPro 7 I use as a "handy cam" kept derping.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Heavy delays on the 110th anniversary for the Bergen Line
The Bergen Line was connected between East and West on November 27th 1909. The Line has undergone some changes over the years, but most parts are still intact. The biggest changes was done around Finse where they shortened the line by constructing two tunnels to increase the regularity and speed. The Line was hard to keep open during the winter as the track would be completely snowed down. This happened even when they were running two rotaries that was running back and forth.
I was running train 602 this day from Voss to Ål. The trains fro Oslo was heavily delayed due to signalling problems at the depot in Oslo.
The mountain pass also presented it from it's best winter wonderland! Winter is finally here!

READ THIS FIRST!
Part two of this trip takes us from Ål to Sundland workshop in Drammen.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW 360: Taking a FLIRT to the Workshop in Drammen Part 1 of 2
For more heavy maintenance the Class 75H has to go back to the main Stadler workshop that is located in Sundland, Drammen.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Morning shunting in Flåm and cold rainy autumn weather
We got a call the day before that we needed to get up early to do some shunting before departure.
The day before we had moved one car into the workshop for some repairs and when done we needed to get it into our consist.
It's late October and one of the last days with dual train production on the Flåm Line. The weather was, how shall it put it, less nice. Good thing my cab is heated and all good. I pity the poor station master at Berekvam.
If you managed to read this far, I can tell you that the video is packed with side views, and that there is not much water in the waterfall.
Enjoy!

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW 360: Driving back from Bergen to Voss on a sunny autumn day
How to control:
Phone/pad: move the phone around to the desired viewpoint, or use your index finger to move the picture on screen, pretty intuitive :)
Mac/PC: Use trackpad or mouse to move the image around. Just click and drag.
VR: Well, pretty self-explanatory. ;)
I can't count how many times I have been re-rendering this video now to find solutions from what wen't down last time, but finally! EUREKA! I found a way!
I switched placement of the camera so it's now "upside down" to see if that gives a better view.
I know I can fix the angle of the rotation, that has been fixed wit the angle on the placement in later videos, so don't worry about that. :) Pretty much back to "square one" with this camera.
Okey, so this is the return from the first 360° video. Driving back from Bergen to Voss on a sunny autumn day.
PS: If yhou don't like the 360-vids, STAY CALM! I will still be posting the normal videos, just not on the same day! :) I made that perfectly clear in the community section. :)

CABVIEW: EXTREME winter conditions on the mountain pass
Extreme winter conditions on the mountain pass (Stormy winter conditions on the mountain pass REMASTERED) this day for the Regional Train between Bergen and Oslo. The trains on the Bergen Line travers one of the most inhospitable winter environments in Norway. The weather can go from pure sunshine to deadly winter storm in matter of minutes. The roads and air traffic usually stop long before the Railway is deemed too dangerous. This is thanks to the awesome people working day and night to keep the line open under these treacherous conditions.
For me the trip starts at Voss operating the train over the mountain pass to Ål in Hallingdal where another driver takes over.
CHAPTERS:
0:00:00 Voss - Gjerdåker
0:04:10 Gjerdåker - Ygre (snow starts to stick Ygre station 168m above sea level)
0:06:02 Gjerdåker - Kløve
0:08:41 Kløve - Urdland
0:12:46 Urdland - Øyeflaten
0:14:31 Øyflaten - Skiple (Tracks are now almost covered with snow)
0:17:22 Skiple - Reimegrend (Tracks are now completely covered with snow)
0:20:00 Reimegrend - Mjølfjell (Looks like flying over carpet of snow and the plow starts to take)
0:27:15 Mjølfjell - Ljosanbotn (Mjølfjell marks the start of the mountain pass. Plow tosses snow)
0:30:54 Ljosanbotn - Ørneberget (Headlights starts to get bad because they're covered with snow)
0:32:53 Ørneberget - Vieren (lots of snow and we're about 700m above sea level)
0:35:01 Vieren - Upsete (now the plow really starts to toss snow around)
0:37:00 Upsete - Myrdal (getting harder to see)
0:41:08 Myrdal - Hallingskeid (Very windy and snow starts to come over the front blinding us)
0:54:54 Hallingskeid - Finse (headlights almost useless, snow constantly coming over the front)
1:05:27 Finse - Haugastøl (Finse was the filming location for Hoth in Star Wars: Empire strikes back)
1:25:22 Haugastøl - Ustaoset (The sun is not big, it's the light that is reflecting on the ice crystals)
1:34:31 Ustaoset - Geilo (some EXTREME drift hitting snow plow action exiting Ustaoset)
1:43:52 Geilo - Ål (safe and sound down from the mountain pass)

Note: World Lock did not work as intended hence the drifting of the image. Issue has been communicated to GoPro.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: PREMIERE!
Today I'm taking you guys with me on a whole shift in the Local Service on the Voss Line.
It's one of the shorter shifts, but you get to see what it can consist of. And today it is Voss - Bergen - Arna - Bergen - Voss. The return to Voss is in the dark, so you get to see the performance of the GoPro 8 in very low light environment.
The GoPro 8 kind of derped again for a short bit at Trengereid. Thankfully it has happen just a couple of times. Worse with the GoPro 7 that just stopped recording video multiple times. Hence the short walks.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: From autumn in Voss to winter at Finse
Testing out the smacking brand new GoPro 8. It had a weird issue between Voss and Urdland, but it worked fine from Urdland and over the mountain. The issue did not return the next next following days.
There are some vibrations in the image due to the lack of image stabilization at 4K 60fps Linear, but this is supposed to be added and available in the November update of the camera firmware. Have done some adjustments to the rig to compensate for the vibrations.
The difference between the lowland and the mountain is becoming more and more stark with autumn here and winter up there.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Flåm valley, autumn colors and goats on the track
Working the Flåm line in the overlap between full production and winter production. There are still two train running part of the day.
Been a while since I was down here last, and you can say I got more action than I hoped for.
In this installment there are a couple of side views from Kårdalen and Pinnali as well as some goat action.
About the goats, well, you have to see for yourself.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Three seasons in one trip
Three seasons in one trip
It's September (2019), it's my birthday and I get to spend it alone away from home. Well, I get to see the first snow and the drive through the first autumn weather storms. Even though it was not a severe one, it did wreak havoc on trees and power lines.
The weather system is pretty apparent when we come up on the mountain pass, and you can see how fast it changes around Finse.
Sykkeltoget is a train that runs during the summer half of the year take tourists and passengers who wants to bicycle on the Rallar road (Rallarvegen) between Haugastøl, Hallingskeid, Myrdal and Flåm.
The trains has two carriages refitted to carry just bicycles and freight.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Autumn, Rain and high river in the local service
Autumn is a very wet and changing season here on the Bergen line. The colors and leaves changes color on the mountain much earlier compared to the low lands. It's also the time for being hit by the remains of hurricanes that comes over sea from the east coast of North America.
On the day of the recording the NVE (The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) had forecasted a orange warning for flood and amount of rain. In situations like that we are keeping a keen eye on the small streams coming down the mountainsides and water around the track.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Autumn takes its grip on the mountain pass
From May and through September bicycle train, Sykkeltoget, runs between Oslo and Voss. This train has two carriages dedicated for storing vast amounts of bicycles. The users are the bike rental companies located at Myrdal, Finse and Haugastøl. They rent out bikes to people who wants to do the Rallar Road between Haugastøl - Finse - Myrdal and Flåm. This is road is the construction road used to transport workers, parts and tools during the construction of the Bergen Line in 1901 - 1908.
In this installment I've added several side views, including the view towards the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. Hardangerjøkulen is the sixth largest glacier on mainland Norway.
