In this video we continue from Myrdal (Part one: https://youtu.be/-nFIovIRuis) and all the way to Bergen with the Class 75H. This departure is a direct/express service between Myrdal and Voss with a request stop at Upsete. From Voss the train continues as the local service to Bergen. You will notice several slow orders, those were put there due to the potential of sun bends. Sun bends happen when the heat during a day exceeds the neutralization temperature of the rail. All tracks are neutralized for a set temp that prevents it from bending during warm days or cracking during winter. Heat causes the track to expand and when it has expanded beyond the neutralization and physical space it will bend. The same during the winter but the other way. Train to Oslo diverted over the Gjøvik Line due to heavy track work between Drammen and Asker. The Diversion puts the Train from Bergen to Oslo back on the Old line it used to go before the opening of the Oslo Tunnel. Today the Hønefoss - Roa line is mainly used by freight trains going from the freight terminal at Alnabru to Bergen. Due to heavy track work between Asker and Drammen, today's train is diverted over the Gjøvik Line to Hønefoss with speed information! Speedinformation: At some places the maximum speed displayed will be higher than the base speed shown on the signal. This is because some trains are allowed for higher speeds than the base speed. Almost all rolling stock used for passenger transport is allowed for higher speeds. Freight trains has to run on the basic speed. We start out going east before branching off to the Gjøvik Line going North. We continue on the Gjøvik Line until Roa where we head off onto the Roa - Hønefoss Line. The line between Roa and Hønefoss is mainly used by freight trains going from Alnabru to Roa. At Viul between Jevnaker and Hval, also known as Waffleheim, one of the Herd members shows how it is done! Mr. WarmeWaffle and wife greeting me with Mario and Norwegian flags. Woohoo! Since we were running late the Traffic controller decided to meet Train 63 and 602 at Hønefoss instead of Veme. We had to make sure Track 1 one was clear, so we went up the west end and reversing back into track 5 before letting passengers on and off. Taking the loco to the washer in Lodalen then heading off to Ål. Because of the heavy constructions going on preparing the new Follo tunnel, the train will depart from track 12 instead of 4. Summer is getting closer and closer. Pollen is in the air and so are the bugs, which our wind shields are severely affected by. Splat! PS: I'm very aware of the incorrect departure time at Ål, and I bet there will be a bunch of comments about it. Was called out to go and get a FLIRT parked at Ål and drive it back to Voss. This is just a positioning run from Ål to Voss. The only time I had to stop and wait for oncoming trains was at Myrdal. Arriving in Bergen at 8am, changed direction and getting ready to head for Myrdal on this windy morning. On my way to bergen in the 6:08am departure from voss (https://youtu.be/N7I5MdEh0x0) we encountered a triggered avalanche warning system. You would think that things would be smooth sailing after that, but no. On this part we can add a technical signalling failure. Exceptionally windy this morning with snow piling up in the tracks. Not often we see snow coming over the front in the Local Service, but some times we get these mouth watering experiences. Topped with a triggered avalanche warning system makes this morning worth getting up at 4am! Driving a empty rolling stock transfer after delivering one of the last Class69. Now on my way back from Ål to Voss with the brand new Stadler FLIRT Class 75. The Stadler FLIRT will service the Voss line between Bergen and Myrdal as well as a extra train between Bergen and Gol. Today there are no Class69 left on the Bergen Line. Better late than never. Even though it's like three months since this was recorded, Youtube finally managed to get it pass the 360p point. Think I might have uploaded this video every 1 1/2 week to see if it would get pass the barrier. Anyways, this trip markes the last time I will be working on a Class 69 as they now have all been replaced with Stadler FLIRT Class 74. The Class 69 has been NSB's workhorse since 1971 and has been long over due for replacement. When trains get old the parts get harder to come by. Some of the parts on the Class 69 are so vintage that they're impossible to come by. Now these old buggers will go back to Oslo where their fate either will be decommission, serving as spare parts or sold off to private companies. Two of the trains we had have been reduced to two carriages instead of three and sold to Sweden and a couple has been sold to a company called Artic Train. The trip today goes to Ål where I will do the exchange with Class 75. December 21st marked the winter solstice here and the "shortest day" of the year, with only 5 hours and 40 minutes of daylight. Note: This is the independent upload from which is streamed a couple just before new years. I still experience issues when uploading files to youtube and they are working on fixing it. When this permanent fix will come is still unknown, but hopefully it will be sooner than later. Explanation in short: Films uploaded hardly get processed beyond 360p, even if they are 4K. After deleting and re-uploading several times, some passes and gets processed as 1080p. Sadly, 4K is now as rare as a unicorn.
