TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Snow piercing madness!
This video is a compilation of the snow piercing madness from the video "Stormy Conditions on the mountain pass".
Behold the Norwegian railroad engineer's excellence in getting the train through and for keeping the mountain pass open for traffic.
The conditions on the Bergen Line can be very challenging. When the roads are closed the train continues to operate as if it was normal service as usual.
The weather on the mountain pass can be very unforgiving.
It puts all other European railroad systems to shame!

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Winter Wonderland on the Bergen Line
First I want to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support! You guy's are AWESOME! I'm so glad and humble my videos means so much to you. Thank you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Each year marks a change in both roster and duty list.
So we're now driving some of the long hauls from Voss to Ål on a regular basis.
This trip goes, as mentioned, from Voss til Ål with the regional train from Bergen to Oslo.
Had to use the wipers in the lower parts but as we got higher and further away from the coast the temperature dropped way below zero and the snow became dry and light. With other words, less need of wipers. Haha!.
It's always fascinating to see how the weather changes at Finse. From snow and overcast to fantastic and beautiful winter sun and light.
Trivia: Finse is the location for the ice planet Hoth in Star Wars "Empire Strikes Back".
The train stops at these stations

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Winter Wonderland from Myrdal to Flam
Thank you all for the support! All ten thousand of you! I really have no words! Thank you! Thank you!
Did a tour on the Flåm Railroad again, and this time you're up for a calm run up the valley from Myrdal to Flåm.
The landscape is covered in snow, and shows itself from the best.
I've added some more information, marked out the infamous "slowdown" at "hylla".
The Flåm Railway is the steepest normal gauge railway in Northern Europe. The gradient is 55‰ (1:18) and the sharpest bends has a radius of 130m (426.5ft).
The Flåm line serves as tourist line, connector to the Bergen line and "local service" line for people who live and have cabins in the Flåm Valley.
The line is serviced by EL18's and B3 carriages.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Local Service run with rain and floods
This fall and winter has been a very wet experience here in western Norway. The Bergen line has had several service disruptions due to flooding and signaling problems because of severe rain, high water and floods.
Between about 2km before Evanger there was a temporary speed reduction because the river had eroded the trackbed. The speed normally 80km/h was reduced to 40km/h.
12:50 - Warning of temporary speed reduction signal
13:41 - Temporary speed reduction segment start signal
13:52 - Temporary speed reduction lifted signal
The line men worked hard to keep the disruption at a minimum.
The line is serviced by the Class 69 trains. These train sets will be replaced by the Stadler FLIRT Class 75B throughout 2018. A much needed and wanted upgrade, both for us who work on the train and passengers.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Cold winter day on the Flåm Line
Happy New Year, peeps!
Did a tour on the Flåm Railroad again, and this time you're up for a calm run up the valley from Flåm to Myrdal.
The landscape is covered in snow, and shows itself from the best.
I've added some more information, marked out the infamous "slowdown" at "hylla". A infobox points out where on the mountain this slow down happens. So just before Kjosfossen at Pinnalia, you can see three levels of the Flåm Line.
For you guys who hates the wipers, there are no wipers in this one ;)

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Working the local on a cold winter day
The Voss Line used to be a narrow gauge independent line from 1883 until 1909 when it merged with the Bergen Line.
The Voss Line was constructed as a narrow gauge (1067mm) and this proved to be a challenge since the Bergen line was being constructed with normal gauge (1435mm). So, one night in August 1904 they converted the line to normal gauge. During the preparations for the merge, several tunnels had to be widened and many curves had to be straightened.
The remanence of the old layout can be seen on several places on the trip.
Today marks the winter solstice. The "shortest" day of the year. We will finally have longer and longer days. Sunrise 9:42am, sunset 3:22pm.
Enjoy!

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Winter on the Flåm Line
Winter has finally hit the steepest normal gauge railway in northern Europe.
With its gradient of 1:18 (55‰) you can say it can be somewhat challenging if the snow becomes to deep. Thankfully I had two EL18’s at my disposal, with a total of 15.000hp and only four B3 carriages.
The Flåm Line goes from Flåm to Myrdal where it connects to the Bergen Line. Flåm is located 2m (6.5ft) above sea level and Myrdal is located 866m (2841ft) above sea level. The line itself is 20.2km (12.6miles) long.

TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Evening information run between Ål and Voss
Ok, so this is a "test-video" with some signaling information. And station names along the way.
The run leaves from Ål at the evening and arrives at Voss where it's a driver change. The sun sets pretty fast from Geilo to Finse, and from there on it's completely dark.
Please comment below for improvements.

CABVIEW: Stormy winter conditions on the mountain pass (Bergen Line, Norway)
Stormy winter conditions on the mountain pass this day for the Regional Train between Bergen and Oslo. The trains on the Bergen Line travers one of the most inhospitable winter environments in Norway. The weather can go from pure sunshine to deadly winter storm in matter of minutes. The roads and air traffic usually stop long before the Railway is deemed too dangerous. This is thanks to the awesome people working day and night to keep the line open under these treacherous conditions.
For me the trip starts at Voss operating the train over the mountain pass to Ål in Hallingdal where another driver takes over.
