On November 7, 2003, Kim Hoover-Moore was convicted of murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and endangering a child. The conviction arose after the death of a 7-month-old child she cared for, whose death was attributed to Shaken Baby Syndrome. SBS is said to arise when an infant is shaken so hard that the brain rotates inside the skull (think extreme whiplash in a car accident), which causes brain injury without external signs of injury (often). Distinguished by a "triad" of symptoms (brain swelling, brain hemorrhaging, and retinal hemorrhaging), SBS is often interpreted to indicate that the child has been violently shaken, with suggestions that the last person to have physical care of the child is believed to have caused the injuries. On the docket: Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder (Owner), NFL, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell have been sued by the District of Columbia for "colluding to deceive District residents about an investigation into toxic workplace culture and allegations of sexual assault to maintain a strong fanbase and increase profits." Crypto Exchange FTX Files For Bankruptcy - just 5 days after tweeting "FTX is fine. Assets are fine." (now deleted), founder and CEO of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, has resigned and the company has filed for bankruptcy relief. The barebones filing lists $10 billion and $50 billion (that's BILLION with a "B") in estimated assets and liabilities. Twitter Chaos Continues - blue checkmarks abound in the Twittersphere (see blue-check Mario's obscene hand gesture), with changes to policies coming in the blink of an eye. DARRELL BROOKS. That's it. Steven Avery was convicted in 1985 in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin of sexual assault and attempted murder and was sentenced to 32-years in prison. After several unsuccessful appeals he was granted reprieve in 2003 when DNA evidence exonerated him, resulting in his release in September of 2003. Patty Hearst, an heiress of the William Randolph Hearst newspaper empire, was kidnapped on February 4, 1974, by leftist radicals called the Symbionese Liberation Army. Two months later she is photographed with an assault weapon during a bank robbery in San Fransisco, California. Hearst is finally captured on September 18, 1975, and charged with bank robbery and other crimes. Claims of brainwashing and a highly publicized trial.
