Dixie is a lovely Chihuahua who is 18 years young. She is a creature of habit and loves to sleep on her human size mattress with a comforter and pillow. No cheap dog beds for her. Every night she prepares her bed by expertly rolling down her covers in preparation for a restful night of sleep. It's just too cute!

Have you ever been in a situation where you felt trapped? Possibly held against your will? Well this crazy female cat has a dominant streak that reveals itself in very strange ways. I guess you could say that she enjoys having the upper paw in this particular case. Any time her owner goes into the basement to do some laundry, the cat waits behind the door leading down to the basement. When her owner returns and attempts to exit the basement she is greeted by a pair of crazed green eyes and powerful paws of fury. She punches her little white paws through the door in an attempt to block the exit of her human. I guess you could say it's a game of control and this cat is a skilled player. Her eyes glow in the dark and her movements are rapid and well timed. She makes left and right jabs through the door opening that are almost like a feline MMA fighter. She lets out the occasional growl and hiss to let you know that she really means business. Even though this is just a funny cat game, her owner plays along much to the cats delight. Cats that are kept indoors often come up with creative ways to entertain themselves. They still have that instinctive urge to hunt and whether it's chasing a moth around the room or shooting out from under a bed to grab it's owners legs, cats will always find a way to entertain themselves. This rescued Calico is very feisty and quite possessive when it comes to her toys. She is not what you would call the "sharing" type. Once she takes hold of a particular item, it is hers for life. Her favorite toy is a stuffed animal named lamb-chop and she is very protective of it. You will see from this video that she is not even willing to let her human touch her most prized possession!

DICE AND COCO MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME

This recently rescued Chihuahua named Dixie has the run of the house during the day, but prefers to sleep in her crate at night. It makes her feel safe and secure and possibly it's a throwback to the dog den of her ancestors. Anyone who owns a Chihuahua knows that they love to burrow under a nice soft blanket and this dog is no exception. This dogs owner instructs her to wrap herself up in a blanket in preparation for a cool night and the dog follows her command right on cue. It's so cute! Chihuahuas can be traced back to an ancient breed called the Techichi which were kept by the Toltec people in Mexico in the 9th century A.D. They are a lively and intelligent breed and are extremely social. They are always up for meeting new people and travelling to exciting places. They are a very hardy breed and quite long-lived. It is not unusual for a Chihuahua to reach the age of 15 to 20 years when well cared for. They form a very strong bond with their owners and like most dogs are very protective. They can be prone to a little jealousy at times so if you own more than one, be sure to give them equal attention. Due to their compact size they seem to fit in anywhere. They do well in apartment life or a regular sized home. They are not fussy animals and home is wherever they hang their leash. All they care about is having you within their sights 24/7. They love to go for walks or just hang out watching TV on the couch. You will never feel lonely with a cute Chihuahua by your side. Some dogs of this breed have earned the reputation of being yappy, but that has more to do with the training that they have received. A well socialized dog will not exhibit these negative behaviors. Generally speaking, these dogs are of a very happy temperament. They are comical. entertaining and learn tricks with ease. One thing for sure is that they are literally brimming with personality. A whole industry exists in the area of clothing for these dogs. You will often see people walking them around town in adorable customized outfits and the Chihuahua seems to thrive on the attention it receives from the public. As soon as he sees that toothbrush headed in his direction that upper lip curls up to display his teeth in preparation for brushing. His favorite toothpaste has a beef flavor that he really enjoys. It looks pretty amusing and his veterinarian got a good laugh when I showed her how he displays his teeth right on cue when he sees the toothbrush. Studies have shown that poor dental hygiene in dogs can lead to infection that can even affect the kidneys and heart so it's crucial that you maintain your dogs teeth and get regular cleanings with your vet when applicable. Christmas is a special time for everyone and these days in our pet-friendly climate, it's just as much fun for our beloved animals. Chico is a senior poodle of 17 years and he's done Christmas more than a few times in the past and he knows exactly what's involved. When he sees the decorations and Christmas tree going up, he knows what's on the horizon. You can almost see his excitement start to build. He checks the tree out on a daily basis, watching as the presents pile up. He knows that under that tinsel and fancy wrapping paper there are an abundance of dog delights. New squeaky toys, stuffed animals and dog treats. Sometimes he sniffs the various presents to get a clue. He seems to always decipher which ones are for him. His owners enjoy gifting him with new presents every year. They enjoy it almost as much as their pet does. There is a whole industry devoted to making pet toys for dogs and cats, not to mention clothing lines for every animal you can think of. It is big business and it shows how much our pets are really family. Christmas is a great time for us to bond with our humans and our pets, which are basically fur-people to us. It's entertaining to see how they mimic our own behavior. They watch us tearing wrapping paper off of our gifts and they learn to do the same. Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night? It's that gnawing feeling in your stomach that keeps you from restful sleep. Some people have different remedies for getting back to sleep. A warm cup of milk with honey, some melatonin pills or a simple midnight snack. This cute poodle named Dice often wakes up in the middle of the night with a hankering for his favorite dog biscuits. He will fuss and whine till he gets his way. He is very insistent and goes as far as tapping on the fridge door where he knows his snacks are kept. He takes his little white paws and taps on the side of the fridge door until you get the message. It's pretty darn cute so how can you possibly refuse him? Dice is a Poodle-Maltese mix who was born in North Hollywood in 2006. He is quirky and smart and always full of surprises. He is a senior dog so he is very set in his ways. He has a set routine that he adheres to religiously. He loves to go on his daily walks with his live-in girlfriend Dixie the Chihuahua and they make quite the adorable pair. They can often be seen together going for car rides which they thoroughly enjoy. They do everything together and if you see Dice, Dixie is never far away. She is his shadow and follows him literally everywhere. It is often said that dogs prefer animals of their own breed but you would never know it with these two. Even though the Chihuahua only joined the family this past March, she acts like she has been with Dice forever. She is like a support animal to Dice. She comforts him when he is stressed and watches out for him all the time. Its very sweet to see. They are similar in size so they are basically a perfect match. Both Chihuahuas and Poodles become very bonded to their owners and sometimes they fuss over who gets to sit own their owners lap. They can become slightly jealous at times so it's very important to show equal attention to both. This can be said of most pets. They have the mentality of a 4 or 5 year old child so you have to deal with them in that manner. Hopefully, this senior couple will be able to enjoy their companionship for many years to come. Companion animals are really amazing. They always have your back and are there in your time of need. An elderly woman was frustrated that she couldn’t get outside to do her daily walking routine during the Covid 19 lockdown so she opted to do some indoor walking to pass the time. Her devoted poodle of 14 years decided that he would partake in some exercise as well and he adorably followed her as she made her rounds in the house. You could call this dog her shadow because he follows her wherever she goes. He is such a supportive little dog. Basically, you could say that it was two senior citizens supporting each other and isn’t that what friends are for? This dog named Dice has been with his owner through thick and thin. He supported her during the loss of her husband 10 years ago and during several other crisis situations. They are always there for each other in good times and bad. Poodles are extremely loyal dogs who become extremely bonded to their owners. They are happy animals who love having a sense of purpose and they really seem to understand the emotions of their owners. In this video you see the poodle follow it’s owner from room to room in an attempt to get some physical exercise while being cooped up at home . It’s very sweet to see. Hopefully this pair will enjoy many more years of supporting each other.

There's an old saying: You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Well, this senior Chihuahua is here to dispel that myth. This sweet girl was rescued from a cold rainy parking lot back in March and has since proven to be a quick learner in so many ways. First she had to blend into a family with a crotchety Calico cat and a well established 12 year old poodle. She did that in an effortless manner. This dog managed to win everyone over with her adorable personality and high intelligence. After wandering around for several days with no access to food or water, not to mention exposure to the neighborhood coyotes, this dog was so happy to have a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over her head. To see her today you would never know that at one point she was homeless. Her rescuers took her to the local vet to be checked out and all her blood work came back excellent. Her only problem was some dental disease and she was given some antibiotics along with seven extractions. Since she didn't carry any tags or info-chip, a decision had to be made to send her to a rescue organization or find a friend to adopt her. After spending two weeks with this dog her foster family found it very hard to pass her on to someone else not knowing what her future might hold. They decided to keep her and named her Dixie. Since then she has charmed everyone that she encounters. She is outgoing and friendly and wakes up in the happiest mood every day. She is estimated to be between 12 to 13 years old but she has the energy and agility of a young puppy. Her new family has no regrets about taking her in as she has enhanced the quality of their lives and has provided them with so much entertainment. Chihuahuas are wonderful dogs. They are feisty and protective of their owners. Size means nothing to these dogs and they are not easily intimidated by other breeds. They wake up each day ready to take on the world. They are compact and travel well. Whether it's in the family car or even on a plane. The Chihuahua is up for any adventure life hands them. The most important thing you can do for a Chihuahua is maintain a healthy diet with regular exercise. Due to their small stature they can be prone to several health problems if they are allowed to become overweight. They are known for their longevity and they are proof positive that good things come in small packages. This girl Dixie just learned the classic Bang-Bang- you're dead trick and she performs it flawlessly. It is so cute. She is quite the little performer and takes directions well.
