Adorable Lumpsucker Fish- He Swims Like a Bumblebee
Meet the Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker. Lumpsuckers are named appropriately enough; their chubby bodies are nearly spherical with generally drab coloration and stone like patterns. The "sucker" part refers to the fish's modified pelvic fins, which have evolved into adhesive discs which they use to adhere to the kelp or materials they decide to rest on when not swimming.
These PACIFIC SPINY LUMPSUCKERS generally grow to around 1 inch long, not much more .
Members of this species can be found to depths of 5600 feet, quite amazing.
Other than looking like swollen eyeballs… with eyeballs… lumpsuckers have some pretty strange things going on. For one, they’re pretty awful swimmers, thanks to their round bodies and tiny fins, and when disturbed they tend to flap around aimlessly in different directions. Which is not how escape generally happens. As newly hatched larvae they are surprisingly well developed, equipped with a fully functional mouth and well-developed digestive system. This allows them to begin feeding on tiny crustaceans and fish just 10 days after hatching.
During the first year of their lives, these juveniles spend most of their time around algae clumps, either floating free or attaching themselves to the algae using their sucker discs. Then they’ll progress to pelagic habitats in the open ocean closer to the surface - which is kind of the opposite of what most fish tend to do. As adults, they'll spend much of the rest of their lives in the open ocean, the females ending up significantly larger than the males, and significantly less interested in parental obligations. In fact, the males pretty much do all the parenting.
During breeding season, lumpsucker males and females migrate inshore to meet and spawn. The males will arrive before the females so they have enough time to prepare a suitable nest, usually in a bedrock crevice or a depression in the sea floor. Once the females arrive, carrying around 100,000 to 350,000 eggs each, they’ll deposit a batch in the nest of their choice and leave.
How’s this for being a good father ?

Giant Manta Rays Of Socorro Island Glide Near Divers
There’s so little we know of our planet, and naturally it makes us curious as to what else is out there. This thirst for knowledge makes us push our boundaries and reach for the unknown. So far we’ve been able to see almost everything that’s above ground but there are many wonders lurking in the water’s depths and the inside of our mysterious planet.
We are reaching for the stars, but we know only a few percents of what the ocean waters hold. There have been many expeditions in the darkest parts of the sea, but we have yet to reach the bottom of the abyss. We have gone down to 35,858 feet below the sea’s surface, and if we ever want to go deeper and reach the ground, we would have to travel even further down inside the Mariana Trench under the Pacific Ocean, swimming down the Challenger Deep, the deepest section of the trench. The expeditions thus far have proven to be very fruitful, bringing knowledge of life in complete darkness in excruciating conditions. Just imagine what the waters hold even further down!
It seems that a lot of people want to learn more and more about marine life, if diving expeditions are anything to go by. We hear of countless interactions between divers and marine giants and it all sounds so magnificent.
This footage shows us the beautiful and enchanting moment divers near Socorro Island caught sight of gigantic manta rays. Socorro Island is a small volcanic island in the Revillagigedo Islands approximately 370 miles off the west coast of Mexico. Is this on your bucket list yet?

Adorable Cock-a-chon pup is Stylin' in her new Sneakers
This adorable pup just got home from shopping with her “mom” Maria and wanted to get out and try her new shoes. Maria walks Jas daily all year round unless extreme weather keeps them inside.
Jas is almost 14 years old and is a cocker spaniel/bichon frise hybrid... known as a cockachon. “And just so adorable” Maria explains. Maria and Jas live in Calgary Alberta, Canada which is approximately a 3 hour drive North of the U.S. border and 50 miles east of the Rocky Mountains. Calgary’s weather in winter can change drastically at times, from near 20 degrees below freezing to a few degrees above freezing in a matter of hours. These drastic changes are caused by warm winds known commonly as “chinook” winds. A strong föhn wind or “chinook” can make snow one foot deep almost vanish in one day. The snow partly melts and partly evaporates in the dry wind. Chinook winds have been observed to raise winter temperature, often from below −20°C (−4°F) to as high as 10–20°C (50–68°F) for a few hours or days, then temperatures plummet to their base levels.
With such changes in temperature and plenty of snow and ice at times, the city treats it’s roads with various types of ice melter. One of these being salt can be very hard on a pet’s feet along with the cold. The very cold along with the salt residue on the walkways made Maria decide to dress her adorable pooch with protective footwear. Jas, unlike some pets we may have seen trying to walk with shoes on, did not even seem to mind having the fancy sneakers on her feet .
What a great pet owner Maria for looking after your pup so well, she is definately styling !!

Little Girl Mimics Dog's Bark
After the second birthday of Adria the little girl in this video, there were some left over balloons. Adria's aunty was playing with the balloons and her dog Russo began jumping, and chasing the balloon around while it was attached to a string. Russo is a 3 year old Pomeranian Terrier that loves biting at the balloons and of course barking at the same time. Once Russo got started, so did Adria. She began to bark right along with Russo making for a cute rendition. It looks like not only parrots can mimic animals and other creatures, this little cutie was doing the same and having fun at the same time.

Giant Tree Crashes Through House During Windstorm in Vancouver
During this weekend, January 21,2018 ,Vancouver B.C and the area was hit by a storm with winds topping 70 miles per hour. At the peak of the storm, more than 69,000 BC Hydro customers lost power. The Sunshine Coast, parts of Vancouver Island and areas south of the Fraser River including Surrey, Langley and Delta appeared to have been hardest hit. The extreme winds caused the BC Ferries that transport passengers and vehicles from the mainland to Vancouver Island as well as the Sunshine Coast, to cancel numerous sailings. Here in this video , a home is crushed by a toppled cedar tree approximately 80 feet tall. The front upper bedrooms outside wall and roof are completely destroyed . After speaking with one of the neighbours he made note that at 4 am on this Sunday the 21st of January ,he was awakened by enormous crashing sounds and wind noise. His two sons and wife were also awakened and quite shaken . "The only one of us that did not wake up was our dog ( a Great Dane) " he chuckled. After looking out his back yard to check his trees and seeing all were still standing, he looked out the front door and surrounding area noticing it was the neighbours tree that had crushed their roof. No one else was around at the time this footage was recorded other than one young lady whom is a resident of the damaged home, but she was not interested in saying how everyone was that lived here.

Eerie Boeing 777 Landing
Has any of you every thought what it looked like for a pilot landing a jetliner in low visability like cloud, fog or snow? Have you ever wondered " how do pilots see to land when it is snowing?". Well here are a few answers and some footage to show just what they do, or don't see. As you may know, commercial airliners travel under what is called "IFR" , Instrument Flight Rules. To put instrument flight rules into context, a brief overview of visual flight rules (VFR) is necessary. It is possible and fairly straightforward, in relatively clear weather conditions, to fly a plane solely by reference to outside visual cues, such as the horizon to maintain orientation, nearby buildings and terrain features for navigation, and other aircraft to maintain separation. This is known as operating the aircraft under VFR, and is the most common mode of operation for small aircraft. However, it is safe to fly VFR only when these outside references can be clearly seen from a sufficient distance; when flying through or above clouds, or in fog, rain, dust or similar low-level weather conditions, these references can be obscured. When operation of an aircraft under VFR is not safe, instrument flight rules must be used instead. A few of the main instruments used to fly IFR, which is done under strict airspace regulations, are as follow. Aside from the basic Vertical speed indicator, altitude indicator, airspeed indicator , attitude indicator and magnetic compass, the pilots use a number of electronic instruments to guide them around the skies via "airways" which are like highways in the sky. These instruments along with auto pilot settings, co-ordinate controls to keep the airplanes within their allowed routes and airspace to avoid other aircraft along the same routes.
Some aircraft use GPS and VHF omni directional radio range (VOR) is a type of short-range radio navigation system for aircraft, enabling aircraft with a receiving unit to determine their position and stay on course by receiving radio signals transmitted by a network of fixed ground radio beacons.
ILS (instrument landing system) in this situation in the video, along with the pilots manual flying skills is what bring this Boeing 777 safely to the runway at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Quite the skills i would say !

Diver Curiously Approaches Sleeping White Tip Reef Sharks
When it comes down to extreme sports, diving can definitely be one of them. All sort of dangerous creatures live in the deep blue. We've always been taught to stay away from the depths of the ocean and remain as close to the shore as possible. This doe not go to say that there aren't people out there that dare to go on an adventure and search for all kinds of animals that live in the water just so they can see them from up close. However, this can be very dangerous and not for everyone.
This video is dedicated to this diver that is eager to see what the deep blue has to offer. He has gone into great depths just for kicks. As he swims through the waters he notices a couple of sharks at the bottom of the sea stacked beside a big rock. As he gets closer he realizes that these sharks are just resting and getting some shuteye.
Now, its safe to say that no one wants to be disturbed while sleeping, especially when it comes down to animals as dangerous as white tip sharks . However, this guy is not there to disturb but just observe. As he catches these merciless animals at their most calm, he comes in and gets the greatest shots of all.
Check it out as this scuba diver fearlessly approaches a group of white tip reef sharks all sleeping together in Socorro Island, Mexico.
How cool is that?

Pilots view Approaching Vancouver International Airport
As many know, since 911 there are no non-airline personnel allowed up in the cockpits of commercial airliners during a flight. Many of us recall back in the day, having a flight attendant take us parents and one of our children up front for a look at the cockpit. We were amazed at all the gadgets and buttons up there, how could anyone know what they were all for. For me as a parent and as a child, the amazement was looking out the front wind screen watching the world zoom by at hundred of miles per hour. This video shows us the approach into Vancouver International Airport aboard a Boeing jetliner, approaching from the North East of Vancouver. The scenery is incredible in this beautiful city in British Columbia and this view makes it the best. Enjoy !!

Westie chases racing drone all over the park
Gus is a West Highland terrier cross that loves to play and be active. In this video as you will see, Gus is quite the determines pup. At 1-1/2 Gus and his human Andy travel all over the West Coast of British Columbia Canada boating and hiking. Gus also enjoys stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and just about anything in the great out doors. Andy and Gus live on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, just a short ferry ride from the beautiful city of Vancouver. Working in Vancouver, Andy commutes from his home to Vancouver so on the weekends him and Gus , or "Gus Man" as Andy calls him, always take to the parks and trails for some activity. Here we see Gus doing his best to catch this racing type drone, but his little Westie legs just are not quite fast enough, be he definately is no slouch with speed. Watching this race/chase, brought a number of on lookers and definately brought out some chuckles.
Good job Gus, keep it up little pooch.

Worlds Tallest Christmas Trees at Capilano Suspension Bridge Canyon Lights
The Capliano Suspension Bridge park which displays The Canyon Lights from mid November to the end of January each year, is in the city of Vancouver British Columbia. In 1888, George Grant Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer and land developer, arrived in the young city of Vancouver in Canada. Mackay purchased 6,000 acres of dense forest on either side of Capilano River and built a cabin on the very edge of the canyon wall. In 1889 he suspended a footbridge made of hemp rope and cedar planks across the canyon . In 1903 the hemp rope supports were replaced with steel cables to make the bridge definately much safer and long lasting for decades to come. Over the decades ,many improvements have taken place to bring the bridge to where it is today. As mentioned earlier throughout winter, you can come and re-capture the feeling of wonder and excitement of the holiday season and be amazed by the hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.
For the 2017 /2018 season the 30-ton Douglas firs of Treetops Adventure receive star treatment. Treetops Adventure is a series of seven suspension bridges attached to eight 250 years old Douglas-firs with viewing platforms, reaching up to 110 feet above the forest floor. These magnificent Douglas firs were lit above and below the collars, making these trees the eight tallest Christmas trees in the world!
Brent and Elsa have begun to make this an annual pre Christmas family outing for them and look forward to it each year. It is simply amazing to see with your own eyes so if in Vancouver around Christmas ,make sure you visit the Capliano Suspension Bridge.

Westie dog sure knows his toys
Gus is a 2-1/2 year old West Highland terrier,Havanese and Jack Russell terrier blend, quite the mix. Gus definately has the energy and excitement levels of a Jack Russell terrier. His human Andrew has mentioned that Gus has the brains to go along with his high energy level, meaning the two are a great pair. Andrew lives on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia which is an area that offers up some incredible spaces for outdoor activities which him and Gus definately are involved in. From hiking, to boating and stand up paddleboarding, Gus is always by Andrew's side. As all of us know, after a hard day of play, there always has to be some downtime. Gus too enjoys his downtime and as you can see ,that still involves some play. Gus received a couple toys for Christmas and as you will see in this video he definately has chosen a favourite. That poor chicken doesn't have a chance with Gus but he sure will get some attention.
Isn't Gus just the cutest little guy !!!

Westie Sure Loves Water
Gus is an amazing dog. Andy his owner takes this cute little Westie cross everywhere he goes. Gus is a West Highland terrier crossed with some Jack Russell and Havanese making for a very fun and lovable pet. As you will see in the video Gus does not leave Andy's side, specially when there is yard work and cleaning to be done around home. "Trying to clean the driveway and patio is quite the challenge" Andy said, as "Gus never stops chasing the water". Of course being very careful not to force high pressure water at Gus in any harmful ways, it sure does make for some great footage of getting chores done at home. Andy and Gus live on the Sunshine Coast which is a region of the southern mainland coast of British Columbia, Canada, on the eastern shore of the Strait of Georgia, and just northwest of Greater Vancouver. While populous and frequently visited by tourists, the Sunshine Coast can only be reached by ferry (commonly BC Ferries) or by float/airplane; because of the steep, rugged terrain, no access roads have been built around or across the fjords to connect with the rest of the province.
This area is amazingly beautiful and offers many opportunities for outdoor activity. Andy and Gus spend their time hiking, boating and stand up paddleboarding to name a few activities.
What could be better than two best friends like these?

Tourists Gorge on Fast Food at Sonic
Australian visitors Craig and his wife Amanda love fast food from Sonic. Craig is a purebred Aussy from Melbourne while his wife Amanda is originally from Vancouver Canada. Recently visiting family in Vancouver and having not been back to North America in 4 years, Craig was having a craving for Sonic fast food. When Craig lived in Vancouver for 2 years, he discovered Sonic just across the U.S border in Ferndale Washington and JUST HAD TO GO BACK . This day just after Christmas 2017 Elsa, Amandas mother and her husband Brent decided it was a nice day for a drive and to help Craig get past his cravings. Neither Brent nor Elsa had experienced this fast food before so they were game as well. "Once we arrived at the restaurant and realized there was no indoor eating, i knew it was going to be a bit cramped in the truck after hearing everything that had been ordered" Brent said. As you can see in the video, there was quite a lot ordered ,and Craig did his share of consuming. It was a great day for a family drive and quite fun listening to the 3 in the back squabble about "eating noises" . What is better than a day spent with family... no matter what you are doing?

Incredible Hail Storm Causes Havoc In Mornington Australia
On November 17,2017 it was not going to be a very fun day for Amanda, the manager of The Winey Cow Cafe in Mornington . Mornington is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, located 35 miles south of Melbourne's central business district. Mornington is known for its "village" atmosphere and its beautiful beaches and is a popular tourist destination with Melburnians who often make day trips to visit the area's bay beaches and wineries. Although usually a very pleasant and beautiful town, this day in November was setup for a change. With the summer heat, yes summer in November in Australia, and the high humidity causing severe thunderstorms causing heavy rainfall which lead to flash flooding and large hailstones. This definately happened and as you can see, Amanda had to deal with the results. Her restaurant was being pelted with large hailstones and the rain came in "buckets" . Being slightly out of the norm, their gutters became clogged with hailstones and were unable to carry away the huge amounts of water . The result as you will see was a mess, and Amanda did not plan on getting this much help to wash the floors. Being the great manager Amanda is ,she took care of her customers as best as possible and also called in the appropriate repairmen to fix the issues. Now next time Mornington endures a mass storm as this one, The Winey Cow Cafe is ready for the attack. Amanda made some great calls that day on how to handle the storm. Good job Amanda, your boss's should be proud.

"Shrek" gets engaged during hockey game intermission
Recently at a Vancouver Giants hockey game in Langley, British Columbia, there was some great excitement taking place besides the game. The Giants are a major junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Hockey League in the Vancouver area. During every intermission, the organization puts on different activities to keep the fans excited and involved until the game resumes after each break. These activities range from shooting t-shirts from an air operated "bazooka" aboard an all terrain vehicle to mini minor players having a short hockey game. Even though these are exciting, the one that seems to really get the fans going is what is called "fan bowling".
Giant bowling pins are arranged on the ice, a chosen fan is places on a sliding disc, and the "loaded" bungee activated sling shot propels them towards the pins. As you can guess, some fans are a little more brave than others and hang on until the last second. The 1st chosen fan did a great job in knocking down all the pins, but it was the 2nd fan that really won the biggest prize. Even though Britta was not the winner of a STRIKE, she had won the heart of her man. Dustin, Britta's partner, had set up his plans with some of the Giants staff to propose to Britta and here is what the great staff members came up with for the both of them. Congratulations Dustin and Britta!

Dogs give Dad the "Puppy Dog Eyes"
These two Golden Retrievers have an awesome dad. Rob has spent countless hours training and playing with his two pooches. After Rob took Danté , on the right in the video, shopping for the frisbee, once home they all got together to start wrapping. Laela his sister sat so calmly assisting in the wrapping . Danté is 3 years old today, December 24,2017 while his sister Laela is 1. As you can see all of Rob's training has paid off. Although they both anticipated the "ok, get it" which did not come this day, they both sure were hoping for that phrase. Dogs are such great pets, and they sure know how to tug at our heart strings...just look at Danté's eyes. Do you think they know the gift will have their name on it under the tree Christmas morning? Maybe, maybe not, but i bet they sure are excited when they unwrap that super fun frisbee.

Dog with naughty habit caught on camera
Poncho the rescue dog from Mexico" has been a pretty good pet for the most part" Brent her owner says. But at times she has displayed some not so great traits. Some traits are great, being she is a very lovable friendly pooch, but on the other end of the spectrum she isn't as "great". Poncho likes to take shoes and hide them, which is a fun game once home when you have to start searching for footwear. The best paert, she does not chew them. The one main "naughty " trait Poncho has, as you will see in this footage, she tends to build "nests" and in that feat, she is very hard on the furniture. Brent has tried many ways in stopping this naughty trait in Poncho and the only success comes from stacking chairs, or whatever else can take up space on the furniture to stop her from scratching it up. Poncho does know it is a naughty thing to do, because when Brent arrives home, he mentions she always runs and hides.
Pets, dont we love them? Of course we do.

Ice storm catches British Columbia city by surprise
December 28, 2017 was the start a tough couple days for Abbotsford in British Columbia, Canada. The Greater Vancouver city was hit hard by an unexpected ice storm the evening of the 28th. Although the local weather has been near or just below the freezing mark, the last couple days have been slightly warmer, hovering around zero. Tens of thousands of local residents were without power the following day, Friday, and roads were treacherous. This footage recorded by Dave Johnson shows the damage done to trees and power poles near his home.
More than 41,000 BC hydro customers were in the dark Friday after freezing rain coated much of Abbotsford and other nearby towns in a layer of ice. Police and fire departments were urging residents to stay inside and not drive unless absolutely necessary.
What a mess Mother Nature dealt out this week!

Christmas Tune Band Member Warms Up His Crowd
Recently while visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Christmas winter lights festival knows as Canyon Lights, this band was on the grounds entertaining the crowd. Starting off with a joke to warm his crowd, they followed with some incredibly played Christmas songs. In the meantime, with the obvious notice of the joke tellers accent, the guesses from the crowd has an Australia tone to them. Of course his punchline was great and tricked everyone.
While visiting the park in North Vancouver British Columbia, the Canyon Lights Festival re-captures the feeling of wonder and excitement of the holiday season and you will be amazed by the hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.

This was so cool being on the bridges amidst these giants, i would definately suggest visiting if you are visiting Vancouver before this event ends January 28,2018.

Guys Wife shows Complete Trust When He flies Drone Directly At Her
This is a short video of my very first ever flight of a drone. I have years of experience flying rc aircraft, and indoor blimps for a local WHL hockey team, but none on drones. I chose the Mavic Pro for a number of reasons, one of them not being a cheap price. It is a small compact size perfect for travel, my main intention. This will help me get some great footage for uploading videos to Rumble.com. After watching some videos about setup, which took awhile, i also watched some on flight. After some rainy days, we here in Vancouver finally got a non rain day, but it was chilly and grey. Once prepped, take off was a snap, sticks back and inward ,props came alive, push the left stick forward and up she went. I have it set on beginner mode as i was not sure what to expect. Beginner mode will be off for next flight for sure. Hovering is incredibly easy, movement fore and aft is a piece of cake. This thing has a few modes to make it super simple to follow, circle etc a person but today i tested my skills doing a circle around myself manually, it wasnt too bad. The obstacle avoidance we tested too, no better way than to fly it straight at yourself was my thinking. As expected at around 5 feet from us the Mavic Pro angled back and halted, the test was successful ;-). If considering a drone, and want it portable for travel i would highly recommend the DJI MAVIC PRO .

Radio controlled jet fighters reach incredible speeds
These turbine, real kerosene burning jet powered radio controlled jets classify as a hobby. However, they're not for the faint of heart or shallow pocketed hobbyist! Costing in the area of $10,000, they are not something you want to have a mishap with, but it happens....
There are many different types of jet models, from this double boom type tail, to full on fighter types. Kevin, one of these pilots, has also built and flown CT-114 Tudor models, which are replicas of the full scale aircraft the Canadian Snowbirds demonstration team fly in their routines. These aircraft sound just like the real fighters, sending chills down your spine when you are on the runway edge experiencing a low flyby nearing 200 MPH!

Dog enjoys morning coffee with her best friend
Poncho loves to be close to her human, Brent. As most dog owners know and experience, their pets love to be around especially when there is food around. Poncho is not a big begger but is definately up for any offering she may get Her owners do not give her a lot of human food as we know it is not great for them, just a bone here and there or a weeee piece of meat. But this morning here, while Brent was checking the Santa tracker and finishing off his morning coffee, Poncho seemed definately keen on a taste. She definately seemed to enjoy her coffee black as Brent does. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, Santa is almost on his way, only 7 more sleeps until he rounds up his reindeer.
