SONG FACTS Feeling This & MADDEN 04 Action Blink 182
Blink 182 Song Action on Madden 2004
Blink 182 Feeling This Alternate Song Title
The untitled Blink 182 album's opening track "Feeling This" was almost called "Action."
""Action" just sounded kind of dorky to us. Like we would always call it "Feeling This" and then someone at our label, I think, like wrote it as "Action" one time and sent out singles to people. And it was always supposed to be "Feeling This."" - Barker; interviews, Bobby Gorman, ThePunkSite (Dec 10, 2003)

Deftones Change In The House Of Flies Music Video EXPLAINED
Change In The House Of Flies Video Explained
Deftones Change In The House Of Flies Music Video
The music video for "Change (In The House Of Flies)" features a bunch of party goers in a mansion, many of which appear to be quite out of it. The concept was created by Deftones singer Chino Moreno along with bassist Chi Cheng after they were unimpressed with any of the potential ideas others had pitched to them. Not wanting to film a stereotypical video of the band performing with a bunch of rowdy fans or skateboarders in the background, Chino wanted to film something a bit more personal, even offering to film the video in his own house.
As he told Kerrang:
"We got a ton of video treatments sent to us and they were all pretty much over-artsy, trying to take us out of our element... Or they were just straight up silly, basically having us perform and having all these skateboarders and s*** like that. Everything was either too complicated or too easy. So I just ended up writing my own treatment with Chi. The label sent it out to Nigel Dick, the director. I wanted to have performance in it, but not be us on a stage with a bunch of kids with tattoos and piercings stage-diving. I don't think we need that. And at the same time we don't need us in a desert dressed in Gucci clothing trying to look weird. I figure if we film at my house it's pretty much us, so it's a true sense of what we do." - Moreno, A Deep Dive Into Deftones' Change..., Mike Rampton, Kerrang (May 25, 2019) - https://www.kerrang.com/a-deep-dive-into-deftones-change-in-the-house-of-flies-video
The video would not be shot at Chino's house and was instead filmed at a mansion in Hollywood Hills.
“The concept behind the video is a never-ending party, going on for three days or so – a wild, exotic, indulgent party. The band doesn’t seem to be the primary focus.” - Frank Delgado, A Deep Dive Into Deftones' Change..., Mike Rampton, Kerrang (May 25, 2019) - https://www.kerrang.com/a-deep-dive-into-deftones-change-in-the-house-of-flies-video
One of the models who performed in the video also offered this explanation:
“The whole premise is like we’ve been up on drugs for three days.” - Change Video Model, A Deep Dive Into Deftones' Change..., Mike Rampton, Kerrang (May 25, 2019) - https://www.kerrang.com/a-deep-dive-into-deftones-change-in-the-house-of-flies-video

Features and discussions include:
-Review of Mr Bad Luck by Soundhoose.
-Visualizers that we created for Evil on Repeat, Lawmaker, and The Lousekateers.
-Thrice releasing new album Horizons / East on September 17, 2021. Thrice is a band that has really been growing on me recently. Never really listened to them previously for whatever reason, not too much exposure. The video for "Black Honey" came on my YouTube rotation one day and caught my attention. It has since become one of my favorite songs and music videos. When I recently heard "Scavengers" from the upcoming album, I decided to pre-order a copy on vinyl.
-We've got one song from Smokin' Sam Babbits that isn't on the Spotify playlist, so check out the YouTube playlist if you want to hear it as well as watch some extreme sports videos that also are only in the YouTube playlist.
-A few weeks back, I made a post in a Facebook group asking people to send me their songs for consideration in our playlists. Somebody sent us this goofy song by Skidd Freeman called "You Suck" (also only in the YouTube playlist). Based on the lyrics, part of me wonders if the person who request the song was trolling me but little do they know that I actually really dig this kind of goofball stuff. It's funny to me. So thank you whoever sent it, regardless of intent.

Did you know that Hayley Williams of Paramore felt conflicted about writing lyrics to one of the bands biggest hits? Or the controversy surrounding the concept of the band's breaktrhough album? Who was Hayley singing about in "Misery Business?" Stick around and we will answer these questions and more!
1. Music RIOT!
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and producer David Bendeth argued over the album's title.
“For us, the title ‘RIOT!’ literally means an unbridled outburst of emotions. When we were writing, it seemed like our thoughts and emotions were coming out so fast that we couldn’t control them. It felt like there was a riot within us. So the album takes our passion to a new level; it’s just all raw energy.” - Hayley Williams; Paramore Band Info, Paramore.net (May 10, 2008)
"We argued [over the album name] for half an hour. I went to get a dictionary to tell her what “riot” meant, and after, she sat with me on the couch and she said, “You’re wrong. This is about a different kind of riot. You’re using it literally. Don’t do that... That’s not the riot I mean. I mean a riot of music of people at a show. That kind of riot." - David Bendeth; Paramore’s ‘Riot!’ Producer David Bendeth Reflects.., Taylor Weatherby, Billboard (Jun 13, 2017)
2. Creative Freedom
Fueled By Ramen allowed the band complete control over the album's developmental process.
"She was luckily on this label Fueled by Ramen... they really allowed their artists freedom. Even though it was kind of a major label, there were no constrictions on what we did, so we were able to really, literally make this record by ourselves, just the band and myself." - David Bendeth; Paramore’s ‘Riot!’ Producer David Bendeth Reflects.., Taylor Weatherby, Billboard (Jun 13, 2017)
3. Teenage Angst
The album was written while the entire band were still just teenagers.
"The drummer was 13. Zac [Farro] was just, maybe he was 14 by then, but no older, and Hayley was 17 and Josh [Farro] 17, or turning 18 – they were very, very young. But the process was awesome, because they were great musicians to begin with and Hayley could really sing, so it wasn’t like it took a whole lot of work when it came to performances. When it came to the writing part, Hayley was extremely prolific, as was Josh, so the team together, the two of them, was sensational." - David Bendeth; Paramore’s ‘Riot!’ Producer David Bendeth Reflects.., Taylor Weatherby, Billboard (Jun 13, 2017)
4.One For The Broken
Riot was created to help inspire people going through difficult times.
"We made [Riot!] for people that, at that time, were going through a lot of things at home; that were dealing with things in their life. When I was making the record, I always thought about that kid that was out there, by themselves and lonely, and certainly dealing with bulls–t at home, at school, with friends — pain and suffering, depression. I felt like this was a ray of light, this record, that that would come through and make that drive to school, or whatever, that much more fun." - David Bendeth; Paramore’s ‘Riot!’ Producer David Bendeth Reflects.., Taylor Weatherby, Billboard (Jun 13, 2017)
5. One For The Fans
"Born For This" was written as a thank you to their fans.
“We wrote it as a message to them... They’re going to take us to the next level. Everything they’ve done has helped us so much… it’s really kept us going” - Hayley Williams; Paramore Band Info, Paramore.net (May 10, 2008)
The song also borrows the line "We want the airwaves back" from the song "Liberation Frequency" by Swedish hardcore band the Refused.

SONG MEANING Deftones Back To School Mini Maggit EXPLAINED
Deftones remixed a track from White Pony upon request of the record label, who was seeking an additional single from the album. Singer Chino Moreno was initially apprehensive because the label hadn't even given any other tracks aside from "Change (In The House Of Flies)" a chance to stand on their own. He eventually decided to cave in and re-worked their song "Pink Maggit" to feel more like a stereotypical 2000s era chart topping rap-rock radio hit. Chino does not regret the decision but he did feel a bit dismayed when the label reissued White Pony with the remixed track included on the album. The band felt like this threw off their intended flow for the album as a whole but they were still happy with the remixed song as a standalone track. As Chino explains:“They wanted a second single and they didn’t think there were any more on the record. I said, ‘Well how do you know, because you haven’t tried with any others?’ I remember them sitting me down and pointing me out Papa Roach and Linkin Park had sold 6 million albums while we hadn’t sold a tenth of that. To me, they were saying they wanted some rap-rock, and at the time I was already way over making music like that... my response was no way at first, and then they pointed out the chorus of ‘Pink Maggit’ was so great, so they asked me to rewrite it as a three-minute song. They kept hounding me about so I was like ‘Watch this’, because formulaic songs are so easy to write...In one day I rewrote the music and the lyrics, we recorded and then I said ‘Is that what you were talking about?’ And then they said they were going to release it with a video, they were going to get Paul Hunter who directed Eminem videos to do it, so at that point I was like ‘Whatever, I’ll trust you, I don’t care’. When a record company gets behind you like that it’s hard to say no, because the years prior they wouldn’t give us the time of day. So the fact they wanted to push things and pay for things was great. I look back on it now and I don’t regret it – it’s not a terrible song – but the only thing I made a point on was that when it came to do the reissue, they reissued the original record without that song on. It came out and it did what it did.” - Moreno, How 'White Pony' Almost Killed Us, Ben Patashnik, RockSound.tv (Nov 15, 2010) - https://web.archive.org/web/20101121102125/https://rocksound.tv/features/article/deftones-how-white-pony-almost-killed-us

MR BAD LUCK by SOUNDHOOSE | ALBUM REVIEW | POP PUNK RADIO
For Fans Of: Foo Fighters, Motley Crue, Linkin Park
Review: A famous animated school groundskeeper once said "Ach! Turn off the noosle... the noosle at the end of the hoose!" "This one?" I ask while pointing at the Mr Bad Luck LP by Soundhoose. On second thought, turn it back on!
"Mr Bad Luck" is a breath of fresh air and a reminder that California is a huge state that includes much more than just Los Angeles and San Francisco. Their video for the album's title track features the band members jamming away in front of an abandoned RV somewhere out in the hills of Santa Clarita. Theme park enthusiasts might be familiar with the area as home to Six Flags' Magic Mountain.
Remember that movie from the 80s when Clark Griswold and his family went on vacation, and on the vacation they drove all the way across country with his family to go to a theme park, but when they got to the theme park the theme park was closed and basically ruined their vacation? Until Clark Griswold went nuts and forced the security guard to let them in and go on rides with them? I think it was called "The Family That Went To A Theme Park."
Too young for that reference? Ok, how about that 90s sitcom Step By Step with the privileged suburban family that had the lame theme song and during the lame theme song they showed a montage of the family going on rides, ending with an aerial shot of a beach-side roller-coaster? Well that big wooden roller-coaster definitely wasn't anywhere near the beach. I guess Hollywood didn't think a parking lot would look as nice, so they unpaved parking lot and put up a paradise.
:::"Boo this man!"::::
In any case, the album opens with marching snare and bass drum beats while the guitar opens with distorted chords that take one back to the power anthems of rock's glory days. That's not to say that this is an "80s band" by any means. Soundhoose are a modern band of young rockers that happen to have elements of big hair and synth rock mixed in with their punk / alternative-rock edge. A product of a musician who was raised on the greats of the era like Queen, Poison, & Motley Crue.
"It's my time now... one opportunity's all I need" sings Brandon Smith, who also goes by the alter-ego of Mr Bad Luck; "You tried to knock me down but I got back up, cause I didn't hear no bell." It is often said that life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. "Mr Bad Luck" is a song about walking "through the gates of Hell" and making the "best of (one's) hand." A theme that carries throughout the first part of the album.
The album begins with a rock 'n roll feel before venturing in to synth-rock territory at the album's mid-point with "My Best Friend's Girl," where influences such as Duran Duran, David Bowie, and Depeche Mode are more prevalent. The dueling halves of Brandon Smith and his Mr Bad Luck alter-ego give Soundhoose a mixed bag of tools with enough variety to keep things interesting while also maintaining a cohesive overall sound.
Rating: 7.5 / 10 - Mr Bad Luck is a modern alternative-rock album that fans of the all-time rock 'n roll greats can get in to while also speaking to a new generation.
Ps... don't do an internet search for "willy noosle" unless you're actually looking for "king size sex pasta." You have been warned.

Nirvana In Utero ALTERNATE ALBUM TITLE & Courtney Loves Influence
Kurt Cobain originally wanted to call Nirvana's third studio album I Hate Myself and I Want to Die. However, bandmates encouraged him to reconsider changing the title to something less likely to get the band sued. So Kurt borrowed the "motherly" phrase In Utero from a poem written by his wife Courtney Love. Nevermind the irony of "borrowing" a title from a person like Courtney Love in order to *not* get sued, but anyway...
In regards to the morbidly depressing original title, Kurt described it as self-deprecating humor when he spoke with Rolling Stone in a 1994 interview:
“As literal as a joke can be. Nothing more than a joke. And that had a bit to do with why we decided to take it off. We knew people wouldn’t get it; they’d take it too seriously. It was totally satirical, making fun of ourselves. I’m thought of as this pissy, complaining, freaked–out schizophrenic who wants to **** himself all the time... And I thought it was a funny title. I wanted it to be the title of the album for a long time. But I knew the majority of the people wouldn’t understand it... That pretty much defines our band. It’s both those contradictions. It’s satirical, and it’s serious at the same time.” - Cobain, Success Doesn't Suck, David Fricke, Rolling Stone (Jan 27, 1994)

Travis Barker EXPLAINS Untitled Album Blink 182
The 2004 Blink 182 album is not Self-Titled. As Travis Barker explains:
"It's kind of like if you have a painting that you've painted and you just can't think of a name for it. That's how we felt about our record. We felt like we couldn't think of a name to justify what just happened on that record. You know?" - Barker; interviews, Bobby Gorman, ThePunkSite (Dec 10, 2003)
"We didn’t want to label it with anything. We didn’t want to label it with a joke title that people might expect. We didn’t want to label it with some serious phrase that the whole record would have to somehow relate to. We left it untitled, so it would speak for itself.”- Tom Delonge; This is Blink 182: Untitled, Garret Michael Carlson, Dudefluencer, Sep 13, 2019

Did you know that frontman Rivers Cuomo and bassist Matt Sharp created "rules" for the recording of Weezer's Blue Album? Or that the band's big breakthrough hit "Buddy Holly" almost wasn't included? How about the band member who was fired just as the recording process was coming to an end? Stick around and we will answer these questions and more, on...
10 Things You Didn't Know About Weezer's Blue Album
1. Falsetto
Bassist Matt Sharp learned to sing in falsetto prior to recording the Blue Album. Sharp and Cuomo practiced barbershop-quartet songs during rehearsals in order to feel more comfortable collaborating together.
""I had to sing an octave higher than Rivers. After a lot of practice, I started to get it down." - Matt Sharp (Rivers' Edge: The Weezer Story, Aug 9, 2004)
2. Self Produced?
Weezer originally wanted to self-produce the album but were pressued in to hiring a producer by A&R guy Todd Sullivan at Geffen Records. They chose Ric Ocasek, former frontman of the Cars.
Ocasek brightened the band's guitar sound by convincing them to move the guitar pickups from the neck to the bridge.
3. Downstrokes Only
While in the studio recording the Blue Album, Sharp and Cuomo created a few rules for the album. Two of these rules included banning the use of reverb and only using downstrokes on the guitars.
4. Louder Than "Creep"
The band wanted loud guitars on the album and insist that they be as loud or louder than Radiohead's "Creep," burying some of the vocals in the sound.
I wonder if they were also inspired by Marty McFly in Back To The Future II?
5. No "Buddy Holly?"
The band's breakthrough hit "Buddy Holly" almost didn't make the album.
Cuomo originally wanted the song to go on the band's second release, which he intended to have a keyboard New Wave sound.
Sharp told a Rolling Stone writer in 2019: "“There was a worry that it could become the ‘Detachable Penis’ of this album.. We had the sense that it could be taken as a novelty song, and people aren’t going to take the album seriously.”" -The Strange Birth and Near Death of Weezer; Hiatt, Brian; Aug 28. 2019
referring to a goofy one-hit-wonder from 90s rock band Butthole Surfers.
"Ric said we'd be stupid to leave it off the album. We'd come into the studio in the morning and find little pieces of paper with doodles on them: WE WANT BUDDY HOLLY." - Matt Sharp - "Buddy Holly: How Four LA Rockers Created the Definitive Hipster-Doofus Battle Cry", Ryan Domball, Blender, November 2008
Imagine if Weezer had self-produced the album as they originally intended and Ric Ocasek wasn't there to influence the decision to include "Buddy Holly?"
6. Clever Camerawork & Editing
The iconic music video for "Buddy Holly" which features the band performing at Arnold's Drive-In from the 70s American telivision show Happy Days was created without the use of computer generated imagery (CGI).
"The best thing about that video is that there’s no CGI going on. It’s all just clever camera work. And clever editing. I get to point at the Fonz and he goes ‘Ayyy.’ I mean, come on. I loved Happy Days as a kid. It doesn’t get any cooler than that." - Pat Wilson, UNDONE: The Complete Oral History Of Weezer, Phawker, Dec 11, 2018

Korn Follow The Leader Album Art Explained
The album cover was a concept thought up by Korn guitarist Munky which was scetched by a friend of Jonathan Davis before being handed over to Todd McFarlane of McFarlane Entertainment. You might know him for his artist work on The Amazing Spider-Man comics. He is also the creator of the superhero series, Spawn.
"I'd looked at all their album covers, and they all had this weird sort of mystery about them, like looming shadows. The one I remember [1994's Korn] had a girl on a swing, and there was like a shadow on the ground. What was interesting about it was, 'Was that shadow a predator or a protecting parent?' It left it to the imagination of whoever was looking at the image to decide.
On the Follow the Leader album cover I worked with Greg Capullo... He and I said, 'Well, what if we do hopscotch, but it's on the edge of a cliff. So the question is, will she keep going or will she do what you're supposed to do in hopscotch, which is turn around, and come back?' We did that to play with some of the stuff that Korn had already established with some of their prior album covers." - McFarlane, Todd McFarlane Reveals Story behind Korn's "Freak On A Leash" Music Video, Revolver (Dec 16, 2022)

Did you know that Alice In Chains used 9 legs worth of dogs in the making of their self titled 1995 album? Or that it would be the final album with vocalist Layne Staley? Which one of the band's hit songs was written as a message to guitarist Jerry Cantrell's girlfriend? Find the answer to these questions and more on...
10 Fun Facts about Alice In Chains' Self Titled Album
1. Nine Legs Worth of Dogs
The idea of using a three-legged dog for the cover of Alice In Chains' self titled album was inspired by a real-life three-legged dog named Tripod who used to terrorize drummer Sean Kinney during his childhood job as a paperboy. Unfortunately, Tripod was either unavailable or unwilling to pose for a photo-shoot, so Kinney hired photographer Rocky Schenck to do a three-legged dog photo-shoot near a playground in Downtown Los Angeles. However, none of Schenck's photos would be used on the album cover because the band decided to use an image of a three-legged dog received by fax because they felt it added an element of "grit" to the design.
This angered Kinney who was upset about wasting time and money on a photo-shoot. Fortunately, Kinney's intended image would finally get a chance to make an appearance in the 1999 box set Music Bank.
An entirely separate dog named Sunshine would appear in the music video for "Grind." So it essentially took 9 legs worth of dogs to create enough material for the band to work with.

2. A Few Months of Humanity
Alice In Chains decided to approach songwriting with an element of spontaneity on their 1995 Self Titled album. Deciding to leave the brooding behind, as singer Layne Staley felt that writing emotional music was taking a toll on his mental health.
Guitarist Jerry Cantrell told Rolling Stone:
"Our music's kind of about taking something ugly and making it beautiful." - Cantrell
Vocalist Layne Staley would add:
"I do that every day when I'm dressing... I take an ugly face and make it beautiful... For a long time I let problems and sour relationships rule over me instead of letting the water roll off my back... I thought it was cool that I could write such dark, depressing music. But then instead of being therapeutic, it was starting to drag on and keep hurting.
This time I just felt, 'F*** it. I can write good music, and if I feel easy and I feel like laughing, I can laugh.' There's no huge, deep message in any of the songs. It was just what was going on in my head right then. We had good times, and we had bad times. We recorded a few months of being human." - Staley, To Hell and Back, Jon Wiederhorn, Rolling Stone (Feb 8, 1996)
3. Mockumentary
Alice In Chains released a mockumentary in 1995 to help promote their self-titled album. The false documentary titled The Nona Tapes stars guitarist Jerry Cantrell posing as journalist Nona Weisbrum as she hunts the Seattle streets in search of members of Alice In Chains to interview.
Studio executives at Columbia were initially upset with the band for taking their money intended for an Electronic Press Kit and using it to create The Nona Tapes but later warmed up to the idea when the VHS developed a cult following. A DVD would later be included with the 2006 compilation album The Essential Alice In Chains.

Did you know that Sum 41 front-man Deryck Whibley "hates" the band's second full-length album? Or why the punk rock band made a tough decision to stop drinking while on tour? Or which song from the album is more relevant today than ever before?
1. Stevo the Zombie
Drummer Steve Jocz, is affectionately known as "Stevo" No, he's not the same Steve-O from Jackass Although we hear he is quite a character in his own right. Take the album cover for example, where he can be seen wearing the zombie mask with fake blood pouring down his face. A photograph which was created months before a title was decided upon.
The album cover has always reminded me of the popular John Travolta and Nicholas Cage film from the 90s.
2. 11th Hour Wisdom
The album's title was thought of by Deryck Whibley on a whim at the last moment. The album was almost delayed by the label until Whibley casually pitched "Does This Look Infected?" the rest of the band thought it was funny so they went with it.
3. Deryck Whibley "Hates" the Album
Ok, so hate is a strong word. But front-man Deryck Whibley has confessed that he is quite unhappy with the way the album was mixed.
"I've always, always hated the way this album sounds. I hated it in the studio and it still bothers me. The demo I made myself at home sounded better than the final mix... And it’s not anybody’s fault necessarily. I don’t think I knew enough of how to explain what I wanted to the mixer... I wouldn’t redo anything. It’s all there. It just needs to be mixed right." - Sum 41's Deryck Whibley looks back..., Deryck Whibley; AZCentral, April 29, 2018
4. Party Poopers
Normally people associate punk rock tours with a party animal atmosphere. However, the band stopped drinking and staying up late while on tour promoting All Killer, No Filler to record their second album.
In 2008, Stevo told MTV: "When we realized the recording time was coming up, we actually stopped partying... That made touring a whole different world... It's strange to spend the last two months on the road and go, 'Well, it looks like I'm going to bed early again, and I'll be up all day,' because, usually, you don't really have much to do until the show... So if you drink all night, you'll sleep all day until you're about to go on. And that occupies, like, 18 hours of the day. Then you only have to be up for one." Steve Jocz, - D'Angelo, Joe. "Sum 41: Testing Their Metal (Part 2)". MTV. April 8, 2008.
5. War in Iraq
"Still Waiting" is an anti-war song.
"“Still Waiting” was all about George W. Bush and going into Iraq and what a disaster it was gonna be. It was an anti-war, anti-Bush song... And I didn’t explain it. I didn’t talk about it in interviews... In those days, there was so much focus on our humor and our drummer at that time... He was always the joking guy. So that became the focus of our interviews. We never really spoke about the music. And a lot of those themes I was trying to talk about, they never really came across." - Deryck Whibley; Sum 41's Deryck Whibley looks back..., AZCentral, April 29, 2018

Did you know that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong once wanted to "kick people's asses?" Or that bassist Mike Dirnt wrote one of the band's most memorable basslines while on drugs? What about the original album title that was changed because it was deemed "too gross?" Stick around and we will answer these questions and more!
1. Kicking People's Asses
Billie Joe Armstrong wanted Dookie to "kick people's asses"
in 2002, the Green Day songwriter told a VH1 interviewer: "We wanted simple songs that didn't have bullshit like guitar solos... and for everybody's parts to get highlighted. Mike's bass lines are almost like a doo-wop singer... Trey fills in every single beat. We wanted to kick people's asses. We loved playing festivals because we got to kick bands' asses every single night. There is not a band you can mention that we haven't kicked their ass on stage at one time or another." - Billie Joe Armstrong (Billie Joe: Confessions of a Basket Case, VH1 2002)
Heck, I've even seen them kick people's asses off of the stage as well.
2. Iconic Album Art
The album art which almost resembles a Where's Waldo book was created by East Bay artist Richie Bucher:
in a 2002 interview, Billie Joe said: "I wanted the art work to look really different. I wanted it to represent the East Bay and where we come from, because there's a lot of artists in the East Bay scene that are just as important as the music... There's one guy with his camera up in the air taking a picture with a beard. He’s this guy Murray that's been around the scene for a long time. He took pictures of bands every weekend at Gilman's. The robed character that looks like the Mona Lisa is the woman on the cover of the first Black Sabbath album. AC/DC guitarist Angus Young is in there somewhere too." - Billie Joe Armstrong (Billie Joe Explains Dookie's Cover, VH1 2002)
What cool things can you find on the Dookie album art? I found Satan. An American Gladiator. A chia pet. And is that George Takei?
3. Liquid Dookie
Liquid Dookie was the original name of the album but they settled on Dookie after the title was deemed "too gross."
as Billie Joe said in Confessions of a Basket Case, Billie Joe: "It's a really disgusting story, but I'll tell it. We were on tour, and you eat bad food all the time. You just end up getting the shits basically. So we started calling it liquid Dookie. Like, "How did it go in the bathroom?" "Oh, liquid, man, liquid." Later on we were like, "Wouldn't it be fun if we named our record that?"" - Billie Joe Armstrong (Confessions of a Basket Case, VH1 2002)
I mean, for a band who's previous album was called Kerplunk!, I don't see why not. Dookie goes Kerplunk!

This version has been updated to a format that was developed a few episodes later. We previously had all of the comedic mash-ups at the end of the video similar to the style of one of our favorite channels called CinemaSins. However, we decided to mix the mash-ups in throughout the 10 facts where appropriate to illustrate some of the concepts discussed in the video.
Ps... I also feel like this is one of my worst episodes. Most of the facts are rushed and there are a few places where the audio sounds funky because I made a mistake while recording my voice overs, and instead of going back to fix them, I just clipped audio togther to make it work. Maybe one day I will revisit this album and add a few things while fixing others.

10 Fun Facts About The Colour & The Shape by Foo Fighters
Did you know that frontman David Grohl originally wanted to put a therapist's couch on the cover of the band's second album? Or that the album was named because of an old bowling pin? What about the drummer who left the band due to creative differences with Grohl?" Stick around and we will answer these questions and more!
1. Drummer Drama
Original drummer William Goldsmith left the band due to creative differences with David Grohl.
The band originally record the album at in Washington state at Bear Creek Studio in November of 1996. However, in February of 1997 David Grohl decided to take the songs to Hollywood's Grandmaster Recorders to re-record most of the album with Grohl performing the drum parts.
In 2011, Grohl confessed to an interviewer backstage at Oxegen; "There were a lot of reasons it didn't work out... but there was also a part of me that was like... I don't know if I'm finished playing the drums yet... I wish that I would have handled things differently." - David Grohl, Oxegen 2011 - Foo Fighters David Grohl, RTE2fm (Jul 10, 2011)
2. Taylor Hawkins
Taylor Hawkins makes a cameo appearance.
Although Hawkins joined the band after Grohl had already recorded the drum tracks, the band were kind enough to let him appear in the music videos for the album's singles.
3. Thrift Store Inspiration
The Foo Fighters' second album's title was inspired by a bowling pin purchased at a thrift shop.
The band's tour manager Gil Norton was known to rummage around at thrift stores and come back with odd knick-knacks and memorabilia. At one point he purchased a bowling pin with red and white stripes because he enjoyed "the colour and the shape" of it. The band found the phrase memorable and humorous enough to use it as an album title. Complete with the British spelling of "colour" with a "u" in homage to Norton who is British.
4. Ordinary Heroes
Grohl wrote "My Hero" as a tribute to ordinary everyday heroes.
"Heroes are a funny thing. When I was young I had KISS posters and I listened to Rush and thought the Beatles were magicians. But the real heroes in my life were people that I was close to. Pete Stahl who was the singer of Scream (Grohl's pre-Nirvana band) was one. I was 17 years old when we hit the road and that guy showed me the ropes, so to me he was a hero. And family members ...my mom's a saint. She raised two kids with no money and we managed to be a happy family, so she seems like a hero to me." - Grohl, How To Write A Rock Anthem, Morat, Kerrang! A list of notable celebrities were in attendance, including members of Korn, Deftones, Incubus, Rob Zombie, and Methods of Mayhem. Other notable celebrities in attendance include Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Xzibit, Warren G, Sisqo, Debbie Harry, Verne Troyer who played Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies, Shannon Elizabeth and Alyson Hannigan from American Pie, and if it was a MTV event in the early 00s you know that Ashton Kutcher was there.

MEANING I Miss You Blink 182 Music Video
What Does I Miss You by Blink 182 Mean?
"I Miss You" was inspired by "Love Cats" by The Cure.“I’m a really big The Cure fan, and one day I was listening to their song ‘The Lovecats,’ and I loved the idea of using a stand-up bass guitar and jazz brushes. So what we ended up doing was writing a song with all acoustic,” - Tom Delonge; This is Blink 182: Untitled, Garret Michael Carlson, Dudefluencer, Sep 13, 2019

10 Fun Facts About White Pony by Deftones
10 Things You Didn't Know About Deftones White Pony
Did you know that tensions developed between Deftones singer Chino Moreno and guitarist Stephen Carpenter while recording the band's third studio album? Or that a popular DJ confused them with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones? What about the unintended consequences of inviting Tool front-man Maynard James Keenan to mentor the band in the studio? Stick around as we answer these questions and more, on...
10 Fun Facts About White Pony By Deftones
1. Tension
Tensions developed between Deftones singer Chino Moreno and guitarist Stephen Carpenter while working on White Pony when Chino began playing guitar, encroaching on Stephen's creative territory. However, drummer Abe Cunningham states that Chino only did so out of necessity because Stephen moved miles away, preventing Abe and Chino from being able to collaborate with him in the early phase of the writing process.
As Abe explains:
“It was a bit of a tense time, looking back now it was a good time but at that particular point Stephen had moved down to LA – we were always based out of Sacramento – and that was the first time Chino had picked up a guitar, so he and I started working on a lot of material knowing we had to make a record. And later we all worked on it together...
We wanted to add some more electronic sounds and Frank’s textures were way more prominent on all the songs – he was more of a guest on the first two records... and the whole guitar thing with Chino, that was the start of a huge animosity and tension between him and Steph that’s been well publicised over the years. That stemmed from Chino picking up the guitar, but it’s also because Stephen kinda left, he moved out and so we did what we needed to do. I still think that record is our best attempt at trying to meld all the sounds we like into one. It turned out alright…
All being said, it was more brotherly bickering and it was very unified at the time. We had a common goal – I don’t think we thought about it too hard.”- Cunningham, How 'White Pony' Almost Killed Us, Ben Patashnik, RockSound.tv (Nov 15, 2010)
2. Album Art
While many people believe that the term "White Pony" is a reference to drug use, the band actually had a different concept in mind when Chino adapted the minimalist clip art that he found on the internet to use as the symbol for their next album cover.
"There's a lot of different references for White Pony... One of them is a cocaine reference... Have you ever heard stuff like in dream books that if you dream about a white pony then you're having a sexual dream? There's a lot of stuff that kinda goes around it. And then there's an old song (that goes) 'ride the white horse.' That's obviously a drug reference song." - Moreno, Deftones: The Complete Guide, Wikipedians, pg 49, (Unknown Year)(accessed through Google Books) -

In this video I teach all classes how to get their runes from Grizzby the hidden goblin merchant in Ratchet. You will need to collect 20 Dark Iron Ordinance, 24 Fish Oil, and 16 Shredder Turbochargers. Watch the video to find out where and how to get these items.
Nearly all background music used in my videos is my own. I started experimenting with ambient music production during the pandemic to help myself relax. It never turned in to a career but it was a fun hobby and gave me a nice catalog of background music to use in my videos. I still continue to produce music from time to time. Feel free to check out my channel and show some support!
