Learning The Right Breathing Techniques
We all know that we need to breathe to live. But are you aware that most of us do not know how to breathe properly? Well, you’re in luck today because I got Dr. Belisa Vranich, a breathing expert who will teach us proper breathing techniques that have significant health benefits.
Dr. Vranich’s Backstory
Dr. Belisa Vranich was a clinical psychologist for 20 years before she got into the business of teaching people proper breathing techniques. She likewise has an extensive background experience in psychometric testing, administering IQ tests as well as neuro psychological evaluations.
Then up until a decade ago, Dr. Vranich started going through a lot of stress. After trying out yoga, she liked the breathing techniques and decided to study more on the subject. After gaining knowledge and experience, Dr. Vranich eventually decided to offer a program called The Breathing Class.
The Breathing Class
We all say breathing is important, but most people often don’t know how. Our lack of knowledge of what are the right breathing techniques affects all our health and wellness in every way.
Upon signing up for the program, clients are initially made to undergo a functional breathing test. This test can show how breathing patterns affect people physically and mentally.
Consequently, The Breathing Class is a lung workout and tailor-made for each client. Dr. Vranich teaches breathing techniques that can either calm the person or make them more alert. Part of the process includes strengthening the breathing muscles, exercising the diaphragm and promote meditation habits as well.
“I initially didn’t think I’d be teaching meditation. But my class is a breath-centered meditation,” said Dr. Vranich. “You can get into a trans-meditative state by breathing well.”

Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Empire
Ocean Robbins' grandfather founded an ice cream company called Baskin Robbins and Ocean Robbins' dad John, grew up with an ice cream-shaped swimming pool in the backyard. He was groomed from early childhood to one day join in and run the company.
John Robbins invented the Jamoca Almond Fudge flavor and a lot of other flavors. But he walked away from running the business and followed his path.
One of the primary emphasis for that was that his uncle, Burt Baskin, who was Ocean Robbins' grandfather's brother-in-law and business partner, was dying of heart attack. He died at the age of 54.
"My dad's uncle Burt was one of the most successful entrepreneurs in American history. He seemed to have everything, but he didn't have his health," shared Robbins. "That was an eye-opener for my Dad."

Do you practice self-love?
Today is possibly one of my most favorite interviews. I ended my interview with The Doctor of Detox, Dr. Darrell Wolfe so inspired.
His mission is to create a global legacy of self-empowering education and training so that all people everywhere can master their life on an emotional and physical level and bring health home to their families.
With Wolfe's effective health protocols and simple, life-changing strategies, he can deliver the promise of a great life filled with joy and bliss.
Wolfe's Grandfather
When Wolfe was 19 years old, he was just ready to complete high school and unsure of what to do with his life.
His grandfather came to stay with them around that time because Wolfe's grandfather had colon-rectal cancer. He was in severe pain. Wolfe was emotionally crippled and helpless.
In effect, the whole situation made Wolfe and his family members reactive. It is the same emotion for anxiety. That's what makes us sick.
Wolfe's grandfather was brought to the hospital one day because he hasn't pooped for a week.
Despite that, the hospital room smelled like fecal matter because the toxic waste was oozing out of his grandfather's pores and from his breathing.
After two weeks after, the family brought his grandfather home because all they were doing was drugging him.
Then Wolfe's mother learned to do an enema at home which the other family members learned as well. That improved his grandfather's condition.
That summer, Wolfe hitchhiked to Gary, Indiana. He studied under a Dr. Wood and became a colon therapist.

Reaping The Benefits Of Medical Marijuana
We have heard many benefits of medical marijuana. However, there are still some skeptics regarding the effectiveness of this plant, and many others still regard marijuana as an illegal drug. My guest today, Dr. Karen Munkacy, will shed light on why medical marijuana is better than conventional medicine.
Breast Cancer Survivor
Dr. Karen Munkacy is a breast cancer survivor. Upon being diagnosed at the age of 40, she has undergone 28 radiation sessions and a double mastectomy.
During the four months that she was undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatments, a friend suggested taking medical marijuana. Munkacy also heard about medical marijuana’s benefits. But not wanting to break the law, Munkacy refused the treatment.
Although Munkacy is grateful to be in remission, going through a plethora of surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy treatments were not easy. Hence, Munkacy resolved to find ways to help other cancer patients ease their pain and suffering.
Medical Marijuana Research
Not forgetting her friend’s recommendation to use medical marijuana, Munkacy researched about the medicinal benefits of cannabis supported by scientific evidence and medical support. Her medical background gave her the perspective to assess her findings.
Munkacy also began to began to speak publicly about her experience with cancer. This way, it could encourage lawmakers and health care professionals to support legislation, allowing the use of medical marijuana to alleviate patient pain and discomfort.

We Can Take Control Of The Pain We Are Experiencing
Jennifer has helped those in chronic pain experience relief through breath work techniques! She has even helped those who suffer from MS pain by teaching them these techniques.
Jennifer Houghton specializes in yoga for people over 50 years old. Many of her clients are coming to yoga for the first time at midlife seeking ways to deal with pain from arthritis, fibromyalgia, surgery, injury, sciatica, and degenerative conditions.
"As a yoga teacher, I specialize in helping people find relief from pain using a unique breathing technique. I put the technique to the test myself last year when I broke a rib and managed to become so relaxed that I fell asleep within minutes!"
Because of their chronic pain they are no longer able to enjoy life - they can't be active anymore, their sleep is affected, they suffer from the side-effects of pain medication, their relationships are affected, they worry about who will take care of them as they get older.
Breath work is a tool that anyone can use to take control of pain, even if their mobility is limited. Jennifer shares that she loves being able to help people take control of their lives again.
• Most people do not breathe to their full capacity and don't realize this can add to stress and pain levels. Simply learning to breathe the way we were meant to reduce stress and pain levels.
• When people suffer from chronic pain, the 'stress response' aka the fight-or-flight response persists in the body. This causes the nervous system to stay wound up. The nervous system becomes hypersensitive and creates more pain sensations than are necessary. We can take control of the fight-or-flight response by moving from doing shallow, chest breathing into deep slow breathing.
The breath is the one aspect of the fight-or-flight response we have control over. Deep slow breathing sends this message to the nervous system:
• slow the heart rate
• stop producing pain and stress hormones
• start producing relaxation hormones (which block pain hormones)
• relax the muscles
• start digesting
• divert blood and resources back to the immune system, reproductive system, internal organs
Breath work can have a powerful effect not only on stress levels but on pain levels. When chronic pain is present, the nervous system learns to detect smaller problems and send more than normal pain signals back to the brain. With persistent pain, the nerves can act as if normal sensations, like touch, are dangerous. Deep breathing counteracts these responses.
So, although it is not a cure for chronic pain, deep breathing impacts the nervous system and can take the edge off the pain and make life livable again.
Deep breathing also strengthens the diaphragm muscle. Studies have found that people with weak diaphragm muscles are at greater risk of developing back pain and may develop neck and shoulder pain too.
1) the breath is a tool we can use to reduce stress and pain levels - when we recognize the ways we are not breathing to our full capacity, e.g. shallow chest breathing, mouth breathing, fast breathing, only using limited parts of our torsos - we can re-establish our natural ability to breathe deeply
2) strengthening the diaphragm through deep breathing can help reduce back, neck, and shoulder pain
3) doing a 10-minute breathing practice daily is all it takes to make deep breathing a habit and can make a significant impact over time to stress and pain levels

PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is one of the common diseases to women. It is the number one endocrine disorder that affects 5 out of 10 women in the US.
Women with PCOS are having an imbalance with their hormones causing them irregular periods and pregnancy problems. The cause of PCOS is said to be mostly genetics, but if left untreated may cause more serious problems like diabetes and heart disease.

Sherry teaches two lessons from her book during our interview:
1. Nature’s Principle – Nutrition that is most present in our life is what we need the most of. Air and water are the most primary life dependent nutrient. Vegetation (vegetables) are the third. Easier to obtain nuts, seeds and berries are next. Fruit and then animal protein is last. In the wild, we would rather find and cook an egg or a fish than kill, bleed, gut and skin or pluck a chicken or lamb.
If we had to live in nature we would eat much differently. If we think of the hierarchy of how we would eat if we depended on nature we would eat more of the foods that are easy to obtain and less of the foods that are harder to obtain.
2. The Lethal Recipe – How we are producing our food has to lead to a huge rise in “lifestyle” diseases. These diseases are directly from how we eat. Many foods in our grocery store are as processed as heroin or cocaine. It’s artificial, chemical, toxic and void of nutrition.
These foods are refined grains, sugars, oils, salts and chemicals. Also, dairy and soy products are often manipulated until they are unhealthy.
Through the process of making these packaged foods, they denature the nutrition, remove minerals and add addictive chemicals.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - Dr. Stephen & Janet Lewis - #117
Today's guest, Dr. Stephen and Janet Lewis will shed some light on Chronic Fatigue and its underlying cause. http://learntruehealth.com/chronic-fatigue-syndrome/
According to research, more than one million Americans suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The risk factors are higher than multiple sclerosis, lupus and several types of cancers.
Chronic Fatigue is usually a result of stress or lack of sleep. However, nutritional deficiency is actually the main cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Common Causes of Chronic Fatigue are: stress, viral infections,
hormonal imbalances, and genes.
Dr. Lewis also shares findings by The Journal of Nutrition and Environmental Medicine and American Journal of Industrial Medicine other causes of chronic fatigue: (1) Organophosphates in pesticides
(2)Formaldehyde (3)MSG (4) High fructose corn syrup and (5) Cleaning agents.
Surprisingly, slow bowel movements also found out to be a contributing factor. When one feels bloated or belched, the food is not breaking down properly. Constipation may also lead to liver problems and later on may develop into different types of cancers.
His wife Janet, who is a Certified Natural Health Consultant explains,”The colon is getting bigger and bigger. All the toxic waste getting in there can’t come through. All of that leeches out to all the organs in the body. Organs are not getting the nutrients that they need to be healthy.”
Consuming gluten may also lead to bad health. Dr. Lewis explains, ” There is four to forty times more gluten than there was just a few decades ago. Gluten messes with your gastrointestinal track. It leads to leaky gut syndrome, depression, anxiety, diabetes, thyroid issues, and infections.”
Eating organic products alone is not enough to treat chronic fatigue. Dr. Stephen and Jane Lewis recommend taking natural supplements. “Natural medicine takes a minimum of 3 months to start making changes. And then it takes one month to take effect for every year you had that problem,” Janet clarifies. They also suggest sufficient intake of amino acids, essential fatty acids like fish oil and magnesium.

So many of us are battling with weight loss. Some have found the journey to be harder than others but my guest Byron Morrison shows us that weight loss and maintaining our weight is doable, as long as we have the right mindset.
I have guested Byron Morrison on the show in the past where we also touch on the topic of weight loss, so I’m glad to have him back on the show. He’s my inspiration.
Most of us lead busy lives and tend to neglect the kind of food that we eat. And when we are not conscious of what we eat, our health takes a nosedive, and our productivity suffers.
Bryon Morrison efficiently helps people to achieve weight loss goals without starving or slaving in the gym.
Unhealthy Past
Years ago, Morrison was 50 pounds heavier. Hence, he often didn’t want to leave the house. He had no clue how to eat healthily or how to exercise.
Then his dad was diagnosed with cancer. That, he says, became the eye-opener to take good care of his health and achieve weight loss.
Then Morrison studied nutrition and eventually got qualified as a personal trainer. A few more years down the line, he wrote his book so he can help a lot of people.
“I wanted to show people that weight loss is achievable and it is all about balance,” said Morrison.

Heather's Story
Her first experience with medical doctors was in her early 20s. Heather had a really rare neurological condition. It took her 6 years just getting the diagnosis.
In her 30s, Heather and her husband Damian did body-building competitions. They have been blessed to work with a top pro-athletic coach in the world who's also a nutritionist.

When Damian and Heather got married, Heather had a lot of stress in her personal life. She felt tired all the time.
Then she started to go around and consulted doctors for two years. Yet they couldn't find anything wrong with her.
But the stress didn't go away. She developed Hashimoto's, chronic fatigue and autoimmune disease. It was complete rock bottom. She looked older then.
Damian was affected as well. "As a man, our role is to fix things. It's frustrating if you don't know how to fix it," he said.
"It's almost like your manhood is taken away because you feel helpless," he said.
Getting Better
Eventually, Heather surrendered and chose to listen to her body. She quit her marketing job to focus on finding out what was wrong.
That letting go allowed her to start exploring natural forms to healing and get into functional nutrition. It took her about a year and a half to get well again.
Two years after, Heather got back to competing again. She got back in shape naturally rather than use performance-enhancing drugs.
"People are sitting on a gold mine of potency. Get rid of the things that are blocking your body from changing faster for you," Heather said.
She also says to nourish the body with the things it needs. Because your body will become so powerful to change for you.

Getting Past A Trauma
Surviving several years of sexual molestation as a child, Deonesea La Fey realized in her early 20s that something was amiss back in those years. Hence, she went through several years of actually working on that trauma. And just like a Phoenix, Deonesea La Fey rose from the ashes.
“A part of my healing was that I already knew I was missing something. That empty feeling was from my early sexual experiences with boys and young men,” said Deonesea La Fey.
However, during her healing process, Deonesea La Fey encountered Tantra and Tantric teaching. Hence, she started to understand how her body locked the trauma in the tissues of her vagina, womb, and belly.
As Deonesea La Fey slowly found her path to healing, she likewise found her calling to help other women. Following her heart, she has been helping women find their spirituality and sexuality for a decade now.
Your Body Is A Temple
Deonesea La Fey’s work is centered on women’s spirituality and shifting their belief system to realize that our body is our temple. And because it is the “house” for our spirit, we must understand how to keep it whole.
Apparently, it is when we are complete, that we would know more how to give and likewise to receive. Deonesea La Fey says we become whole only when we understand our authentic inner self.
“When I reject some parts of myself or hate myself, I’m saying to Creator, ‘You didn’t do a good job here,'” explains Deonesea La Fey. “Whereas if I embrace my whole being, I can experience so much love and appreciation for this body temple and all of its functions. I can become the source of my pleasure.”

My guest today, John Hammer, will help us seek enlightenment, how to heal and how to end addiction so that we can say we are healthy inside and out.
Happy Childhood

Hammer grew up in a pastor's family. His dad was a drug addict who grew up in Seattle. His father had a miraculous encounter with God when he chanced upon a book called "The Cross and the Switchblade" by David Wilkerson. He went to become a pastor and married Hammer's mom in the process.
His earliest memories were going to church multiple times a week and going to a Christian school. He had a great childhood and Hammer's parents were good role models.
Dark Secret
In middle school, Hammer got exposed to pornography. He lived a double life during his teenage years. Underneath the happy facade, he was dealing with depression during that phase. Pornography was a wonderful drug then. Hammer knew it was bad, but it was an escape.
Hammer went to community college after he graduated from a Christian school and just went through the motions. Before his 21st birthday, Hammer went home one night, felt the fear of God and cried. After opening up to his Dad, that was a huge turning point in his life.
Hammer's Cope Mechanism On How To End Addiction
Later on, Hammer wrote a book on how his addiction affected his body, brain and what it did to him spiritually and emotionally. It also affected his relationships.
Once the pornography removed from Hammer's life, anxiety, worry, stress, and depression even intensified for a season. Prayer and counseling helped to set him free and taught him how to end addiction. It's been 15 years now.
Hammer also went to Bible College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. He is currently working on a Master's Degree at Northwestern University in Missional Leadership. It is like a ministry degree for pastors.
Dr. Bernie Siegel was a past guest, and in our episode, he related that he tells high schoolers to write two lists---one list is a suicide note and the second list enumerates why you are worth living.
The 'suicide note' pile is always taller than the 'worth living' pile. The teachers hate him for doing it for fear that it would encourage kids to commit suicide.

Embarking On The Quest To Cure Cancer
I’m sure most of us have encountered a family member or a friend who underwent a quest to cure cancer. While most of you think that Stage 4 cancer is fighting a losing battle, my guest today will prove you wrong.
Eric Remensperger is a lawyer by profession and developed Stage 4 cancer in May 2016. His doctor immediately told him to undergo chemotherapy, blocking off all other avenues to launch a quest to cure cancer. Doctors also informed Remensperger that he only had seven months to live.
Striving To Live Healthy
Remensperger resolved to live a healthier life in the early 90s when he decided to quit smoking. He became motivated to work out regularly when he moved from New York to Los Angeles in 1995. Years later, he would even get into yoga.
To complement his healthier lifestyle, Remensperger likewise shifted to a low-fat, high protein diet. Apparently, his efforts seemed to be paying off because his physique improved a lot.
Discovering Acupuncture
While Remensperger looked like he was positively changing externally, he, on the other hand, continued to suffer from chronic health problems. Some of his health issues included frequent urination at night as well as chronic coughs and excess phlegm.
Frustrated with allopathic treatments, he sought to try acupuncture, and it worked! Remensperger was so impressed with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Eventually, he went as far as investing in a wellness center that provided Holistic treatments.

Dealing With Cancer In The Past
When Warwick was growing up, her mom and grandmother were both a nurse. So it felt like a natural progression for her to go into nursing. When I was in my 20s, Warwick’s mother had multiple sclerosis, and her father has throat cancer.
Warwick took care of her parents for a long time and eventually went to nursing school. That led her into oncology. I got a lot of experiences on how to prevent cancer and how to beat cancer in the allopathic world for 17 years.
When Warwick’s friend was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, she knew the traditional treatments would not work on her friend. So that propelled Warwick to start doing research.
First it started with diet, and eventually, Warwick learned about alternative treatments on how to prevent cancer and how to beat the cancer that was working for people.

Deep Breathing | The Learn True Health Podcast #36

Deep Breathing
Dr. Heidi describes the anatomy of the lungs. At the base of the lungs, down by our belly, is where there is the most amount of blood pulled for O2 exchanged. When we do not breathe correctly, our body cannot get the right amount of O2.
Oxygen is how we digest! If you are not getting enough O2 your body cannot do anything else optimally. Literally optimal health cannot be achieved if we are not breathing correctly. And most of us are NOT breathing correctly!
The immune system is within our sinuses and throat to aid us in fighting off germs that want to enter our lungs. Our nasal passages moisten and warm the air which protects the lungs.
It’s best to breath in through the nose.
When we flex our diaphragm, we are pushing the organs in our belly down and out. By breathing deeply we are also increasing our digestion and healthy movement of our intestines.
Proper Full Deep Breath:
Step One: Breath in through the nose
Step Two: Breathe into the belly, feel the belly push outwards and diaphragm flex downwards.
Step three: Feel the sides of your ribs expand
Step Four: Firm up your belly and complete your inhale by filling the upper part of the lungs by the collar bones.
Deep breath on an 8 count:
Walking breathing meditation.
Breathe in fully for 8 seconds. Hold for 8 seconds. Exhale for 8 seconds.
Every time you are at a stop light, practices this deep breathing technique.
Take a couple of full deep 8 count breaths before you begin to eat. This will aid in digestion.
Alternate Nostril Breathing:
Right finger over left nostril, inhale. Switch to left finger over right nostril. Exhale. Switch and repeat for 10. Then switch sides.
The nervous system controls breathing and breathing controls NS. The vagus nerve runs down the chest. Stimulating the vasovagal nerve lowers heart rate and blood pressure. We can intentionally stimulate that nerve to lower blood pressure and calm the body.
Rib stretching:
Deep breath with hands on sides of ribs.
hold breath and gently squeeze ribs downward.
Exhale.
The Cleansing Breath:
Deep full inhale
Purse lips without poofing cheeks out
Blow multiple times like you are trying to blow candles out until your lungs are empty.
Take a full deep breath
This forces the lungs to get out all stale air, cleanses the lungs.
Here’s What You’ll Discover:
When we breath we are eliminating metabolic waste!
Why do we yawn?
Why are we told to breath into a paper bag when we have a panic attack?
Deep breath increases energy!
We lose water when we breathe so drink more water when doing breathing exercises!
Proper deep breathing increases immune health by pumping lymph!

Deep breathing decreases pain and increases mood!

Lifestyle Change
Jason Seib is an author and speaker who specializes in the Psychology of Fat Loss. Discovering his calling in his late teens, Jason Seib revealed that he was initially in a bad place around the age of 19. Because of that, he decided to have a lifestyle change and moved to a different state.
Embracing a new life in a new environment, Jason Seib’s life took a 360-degree turn when he met a person who taught him how to work out. Consequently, that triggered his fascination on what exactly makes the body lose fat. That fascination eventually led him to work with people from all walks of life.
Conventional Wisdom About Fat Loss
Jason Seib says nobody tries to figure out two sides of the equation. Women are constantly trying to change the way their body looks. They think changing how their body looks ultimately solves the problem.
But who can blame them? Modern society has influenced women to believe that they would only be more valued once they change their looks. They think people would respond to them more favorably and differently.
“That is garbage. What happens when you lose weight is that people just notice you lost weight,” said Jason Seib. “It is wrong to think that you will be loved only if you look better.”
Jason Seib also says that we are programmed to be what we are. Through his work, he helps people to understand and likewise assist them to make these changes.

April Haugen earned her Master of Science in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Herbal Science from Bastyr University in 2014. Between 2010 and 2014 she attended over 160 births as a student midwife. And from the year 2000 till now she has also been working as a doula.
April is trained in herbal medicine and uses its ability to support the body’s natural healing in her midwifery care.
Her master thesis was titled “Using herbal medicine for labor induction and augmentation: An evidence-based practice guideline for Licensed Midwives”
It’s shocking to her that nationwide the C-section rate in the United States is almost 40%. It’s ridiculous to look at a room with 10 pregnant women and believe that 4 of them need a C-section.
Because our medical system is a for profit system we cannot always trust that our doctor or hospital has our best interests at heart. That is one of the many reasons why having a midwife and doula when going through your pregnancy, will help you have the best outcome possible.
The United States, a country that is #1 out of 175 countries on spending the most amount of money on healthcare ranks 38th out of 175 countries for infant mortality! There is something wrong here.
Statistically, working with a midwife and doula will decrease your chances of needing other medical interventions like C-section or pain management, like an epidural. Epidurals increase the chance of needing a C-section and C-sections increase the chance of both mother and baby experiencing life-threatening complications and death.
April shares that when a woman feels supported during her birth she is statistically less likely to need or want medical interventions, thus one of the ways these holistic health practitioners help to decrease infant mortality.

Canadian Roots
I am so thrilled to have my guest today. Dr. George Arnold has been an ob-gyn for 25 years now. He completed his primary medical training at the University of Toronto in 1986. I'm excited to interview a fellow Canadian and talk about his upcoming book as well.
"I was one of those kids that grew up kinda knowing I would become a doctor. Since I was a kid, I loved science," said Dr. Arnold. "And I was sympathetic and empathetic to people around me. I applied to only one medical school because knew I would be accepted."
But when Dr. Arnold was finishing up medical school, ob-gyn was the last thing he wanted to do. This was because he initially wanted to be a cardiac surgeon. He fell in love with ob-gyn only during his internship. In addition to that, he said women are so wonderful to work with and worked with some wonderful obstetricians as well.
Helping Men And Women
Dr. Arnold started practice in 1992. He started to see a number of women with side effects from the most common hormone beyond menopausal women. Seeing a lot of symptoms that he never saw in training it started his journey to use bio-identical hormones to treat his patients.bio-identical hormone
"Through testing, we identified some hormone deficiencies and correct their issues without having to resort to other medications," he said. "Women started to feel better. Over the past years, I started to see male patients as well."
Dr. Arnold is a firm believer in the importance of making time for the patients. That is why I could not stress enough how I love Holistic Medicine and Naturopathic Doctors because they really take a time to dig deep into your health issues.
"If doctors take the time to listen to what people have to tell you, that's 90% of what you need to do. The lab test pretty much confirms what you conclude is going on," Dr. Arnold said. "It's a common story to hear some doctors just subject their patients to a series of lab tests. It is very rewarding to see how I could transform things for them."

By a stroke of fate, Diana Needham and I first met at a marketing seminar years ago. Dubbed as the “book shepherd” by her clients, she serves as a trusted mentor through the book creation, publishing, and launch processes. Furthermore, she supports clients to achieve more than they thought possible.
Shifting Careers
Incidentally, Diana Needham was in an entirely different career before being in the book publishing business. Initially working for 26 years in the banking industry, she primarily managed important strategic projects.
However, the bank Diana Needham used to work for was purchased by one of the largest banks in the country. Diana Needham recalls that consequently, it became an unhealthy place for her. Hence, she opted for voluntary resignation.
When her staff figured out their next career progression, Diana Needham embarked on her coach training journey. She initially started off marketing the business of small business owners. Then Diana Needham eventually was referred to an author who needed help selling her book which turned out to be a success.
Marketing Books
Working in the banking industry had a lot of corporate challenges, eventually leading Diana Needham to leave the industry. However, her managing and marketing skills proved to be an asset when she shifted careers.

I went to our Learn True Health Facebook group to talk to our listeners in celebration of our 1 millionth download. In the process, I got a wonderful nutritionist on the show.
What she created is something I've always wanted---a Trader Joe's cookbook. Certified Nutrition and Wellness Coach Celine Cossou is originally from France and moved to Southern California.
The French Connection
Cossou was born in Paris but worked in the south of France. In France, everybody cooks or bakes from scratch. She was raised in this beautiful and healthy foodie family and her mom is a great host.
Cossou met her husband in high school when she was 15 years old. She eventually married him and is still married to today.
Moving To America
A few years later, he got a job in New York City so they moved there in 1993. They were still engaged at that time.
In New York, Cossou says was surrounded by amazing restaurants. They were going out a lot but she was also into healthy cooking. After the crazy life in New York, the couple then decided to move to San Diego.
A few years later, the Cossous were blessed with twins. So they had to move to a suburban area. They're currently settled between San Diego and Los Angeles.
Teaching Healthy Cooking
When the Cossous moved to their new place, the kids had a lot of activities. It was not long before Cossou joined a group of moms with twins.
But those moms did not know how to cook nor feed the right things to their children. So Cossou decided to give healthy cooking classes at the community center. Hence, that's how she started.
Cossou's first class was for kids. Now she teaches healthy cooking to both kids and adults. Cossou has been teaching for 10 years now and she also gives private lessons at clients' homes.

How To End Addiction - Pastor John Hammer & Ashley James - #135

Learn True Health is about Holistic Health. The podcast aims to develop our health mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and energetically. A lot of times I have doctors on teaching what herbs we can take, what detox is best or how to end addiction.
But if we have an unhappy spiritual, emotional or mental body, we're not completely healthy. So we need to address every aspect of our life.
My guest today, John Hammer, will help us seek enlightenment, how to heal and how to end addiction so that we can say we are healthy inside and out.
Happy Childhood

Hammer grew up in a pastor's family. His dad was a drug addict who grew up in Seattle. His father had a miraculous encounter with God when he chanced upon a book called "The Cross and the Switchblade" by David Wilkerson. He went to become a pastor and married Hammer's mom in the process.
His earliest memories were going to church multiple times a week and going to a Christian school. He had a great childhood and Hammer's parents were good role models.
Dark Secret
In middle school, Hammer got exposed to pornography. He lived a double life during his teenage years. Underneath the happy facade, he was dealing with depression during that phase. Pornography was a wonderful drug then. Hammer knew it was bad, but it was an escape.
Hammer went to community college after he graduated from a Christian school and just went through the motions. Before his 21st birthday, Hammer went home one night, felt the fear of God and cried. After opening up to his Dad, that was a huge turning point in his life.
Hammer's Cope Mechanism On How To End Addiction
Later on, Hammer wrote a book on how his addiction affected his body, brain and what it did to him spiritually and emotionally. It also affected his relationships.
Once the pornography removed from Hammer's life, anxiety, worry, stress, and depression even intensified for a season. Prayer and counseling helped to set him free and taught him how to end addiction. It's been 15 years now.
Hammer also went to Bible College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. He is currently working on a Master's Degree at Northwestern University in Missional Leadership. It is like a ministry degree for pastors.
Dr. Bernie Siegel was a past guest, and in our episode, he related that he tells high schoolers to write two lists---one list is a suicide note and the second list enumerates why you are worth living.
The 'suicide note' pile is always taller than the 'worth living' pile. The teachers hate him for doing it for fear that it would encourage kids to commit suicide.
