HyCal Fitness Course // Introduction // Part 1
This is the first video! I'll be uploading the course videos as I create them. I plan to revise them several times, so it's very important that you comment or message me if you have any questions! I'm super pumped.
The course will cover 5 exercise series that work the whole body:
-Pushups
-Pullups
-Squats
-Leg Lifts
-Bridges
These will work everything from your toes to your eyebrow muscles.
The exercises will be broken down into 10 "steps" of increasing difficulty. For example, "Wall Pushups" will be Step 1 in the Pushup series.
These Steps will make up 3 separate stages:
1.) Therapy
2.) Fitness
3.) Strength
I encourage everyone to start on Step 1. How far and how fast you progress is up to your personal goals.
This system is based on a philosophy called Double Progression Calisthenics. I'll cover this in the next video.

MAKE TIME for Exercise & Fitness: Here's How
No time for exercise? Try this.
Write down whatever you feel like you need to do (cooking, cleaning, etc) before you can have "free time."
Then spend the next few hours doing ONLY THAT.
Don't stop to check Facebook.
Don't stop to call your friends (in fact, put your phone on silent.)
Just get the work done.
Afterwards, you'll be amazed HOW MUCH free time you have left in the day.
You are 4-5x LESS effective with the "work 15, break 15" method that people use.
I promise it can help.

ONE-ARM PULLUP: Achieve in 2 Sets Per Week
This is a great exercise for grapplers, wrestlers, & athletes that want to gain a competitive advantage. If you can knock out 9 of these while your opponent can't do any, you're at an advantage.
Traditional weightlifters gain strength by adding weight while optimizing your technique to give themselves the best possible angle and leverage for that lift.
Calisthenics athletes do the opposite. We consistently change the leverage so it works against us and build strength from a compromised position.
Both have their benefits, but strength calisthenics is the modality that's often ignored by competitive athletes.

Exercises While Walking - Keep Sets Further Apart - Public Exercise Discussion
Taking a walk is a fantastic time to get your scheduled workouts done. A lot of people do one set of an exercise, breathe for a few seconds, then jump right into their exercise.
That's great for endurance, but the ideal interset rest time is longer for building strength and muscle. Taking a walk in between sets helps us loosen up and stay active during our exercise period.

Fitness Vs Christianity
Fitness is a very Christian thing.
The Bible says "The wicked run when no one is chasing them."
So it's okay if you skipped your morning jog.
Badumtss.
But how should a Christian view personal fitness?
In my opinion, the essence of Christianity is to serve and help others.
In this sense, improving your personal fitness and health is an extremely Christian act.
At first glance, some may say it seems self-centered, even vain.
But being healthy raises up the people around you.
Especially as you get older, your friends and family will ask you to help them.
It's because they want to be like you.
They see your health and vitality and want your secret.
Sharing your experiences improves their body and mind.
You're helping end pain, injury, and depression.
Conversely, you would not have the same result if you chased after people with unsolicited advice.
Like Jesus, you can lead, inspire, and teach by example.
And I think that's extraordinarily Christian.
