Originally written by the Reverend Al Green, David Byrne of the Talking Heads in 1978 created a Powerful, Modern Adaptation to this Brilliant song...and in the song, Byrne loaded it with the Passion and Intensity needed to fully INNERSTAND what is actually being Taught to us by the Baptism of Water... Dunking our Heads into Water is not going to Heal us of any Earthly problems, however, the ACT of Surrendering ourselves to both Mother Earth (The Water) and Father Heaven (The Aether) IS capable of Healing us, over time... Roxy Music represents one of the Most Fascinating Bands ever formed, as with the stunningly Brilliant Alchemical Lyrics of Bryan Ferry and the addition of Brian Eno as Producer, Programmer, and Synth Player, it gave the Band an Other-Worldly feel to it, which gave way to many speculating that Ferry's Lyrics were New Age Spiritualism inspired, but they were wrong... Simply put, there are lines in Life that we do NOT cross, and this references staying in Virtue, as a Child, versus becoming a Demon running Amok, or an Adult, in this Diseased World... Daryl Hall and John Oates were MASTERS of Music, and Two Good Men, with Good Souls, and in All of their Brilliant songs, they constantly referenced what was Wrong within the World of Men (Ego) and what was Right...and what is Right is staying upon that Path that is Strait and Narrow, in Virtue, and NOT committing Sin...and this incredible song is no different... I Can't Go for That (No Can Do) is ultimately a Parable for staying within the Frequency of Truth, which is both Love and Light...and there, we do not cross lines, we may have pleasure with our Bodies, but we do NOT take chances with our Soul, which is our Essence and that which connects us to God, which is Life...thus, in the song, Hall and Oates are saying that no matter who comes calling with Temptation, we DO NOT respond to these Lower Urges for Fame and Fortune, we stay WITHIN ourselves, Honest to ourselves and to our Craft... One of the very best Songs to come out of the 1980's was the composition by Bruce Hornsby (Music) and Don Henley (Lyrics), known as the End of the Innocence...but the song was Not a Depressing composition, far from it, it was in fact, very Inspiring, because within the Song both Men made it very clear that our Stolen Innocence (perpetrated by Organized Society, the Cabal) was only Lost, but it could be easily found... [Pre Chorus] 'Oh, but I know a place where we can go Still untouched by men We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by And the tall grass waves in the wind [Chorus] You can lay your head back on the ground And let your hair fall all around me Offer up your best defense But this is the end This is the end of the innocence' The World we find ourselves LOST within, represents the End of the Innocence, where Lawyers pick over All Details, but again, our Innocence is only Lost, not gone forever...we can ALWAY find our Innocence again by going WITHIN ourselves to the Kingdom of God...Life has always been a game of Lost and Found, because Evil can NEVER take away anything bestowed unto us by God, Evil can only HIDE it; thus, if we AWAKEN to the Cause, and begin to Seek for God with all of our Might, then we can FIND everything that had been Lost along the Way, including our Child-like Innocence... From the first album of The Alan Parsons Project (Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson), Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Edgar Allan Poe, comes one of their finest songs, and one of Poe's best Short Stories... (The System of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether... The story where an unnamed Fool enters into the Maison de Sante, in Southern France, a Sanitarium for the Clinically diagnosed as 'Insane'...the narrator is excited to witness the effects of Monsieur Mallard's infamous treatment of the clinically insane, known as The System of Soothing...Monsieur Mallard being the Head Physician at the Maison de Sante... However, upon his visit, something doesn't sit right with the Narrator, as something seems OFF with the Patients, who are encouraged to become anything that they wish to become, including even Chickens and Pumpkins...there are mostly Wombmen patients, who are scantily dressed and promiscuous, as well...but it is Monsieur Mallard who seems the most 'Off' of the bunch, as he has recently abandoned his technique of The System of Soothing, for a New, Reckless approach whereby Reality becomes obfuscated by the individual's desire to become anything they wish, leaving the Sanitorium with a feeling of Crazed Insanity... And as the Narrator discovers, when all of the Sanitorium Guards and Attendants finally break Free of their bindings and remove all the Feathers that had been Tarred to them, Monsieur Mallard was nothing more than a Fraud, one of the Diseased Patients who had taken over the Sanitorium just hours earlier... Thus, the Moral to Poe's Brilliant Allegory is that we Live in a World where we have the Inmates Running the Asylum, where nothing feels Right anymore, as the Truth becomes a Lie and where Reality becomes obfuscated by all of the False Beliefs and Lies that the 'Inmates' hold on to... Edgar Allan Poe was describing OUR World, where everything was fast becoming a Lie, and the World, Upside Down...and note how Poe used the name 'Mallard' for the Head of the Sanitarium, as Mallard is a type of Duck, and one could construe that Poe meant that Mallard and his 'Theories' of Mental Health made him a QUACK...
