Banks Ram-Air System for 2017-19 Ford 6.7L | Features, Benefits, and Competitive Analysis
When Banks engineers set out to design a Ram-Air intake for the 2017-19 Ford 6.7L Super Duty, they had one seemingly impossible challenge: to achieve higher air density at the turbo inlet than all competitors while keeping the airbox in the stock location behind the battery.
As Power Stroke owners know, the battery is located near the front corner of the engine bay. This means air must pass above and/or below the battery to the airbox behind it. S&B chose to relocate the battery by having the customer attach a piece of supplied angle-iron to the thin firewall, cantilevering it over the engine. In our opinion, the battery is much too heavy and poses a danger if it were to break loose and fall. After all, many trucks see off-road conditions.
These requirements would set our Mechanical Engineering team on a year-long mission of design, research and development, and on and off-road testing.
The Banks Ram-Air out-flows and out-performs aFe and S&B with a 49% gain in MAF on the flow bench, and a 40% gain in intake air density when measured in real-world drive testing where temperature and humidity become involved. And best of all, it's 50-state emissions compliant. CARB E.O. D-161-132

Killing pedal lag in a RAM 6.7L | How to improve acceleration and throttle response.
Brian tows a toy hauler and enclosed motorcycle trailer with his 2019 RAM 6.7L 3500 HD. As much as he loves the torque of the Cummins engine, he can't stand it's sluggish response. He came to Banks to add a PedalMonster throttle controller and iDash DataMonster.
"The response is a lot better than stock that's for sure. I used to have so much lag. I think I need a 4-point harness," says Brian with a smile as he tries track mode. PedalMonster make Brian's truck feel considerably more responsive.
PedalMonster is the world's only OBD-connected throttle controller. This umbilical cord to your vehicle's ECM allows it to do what no other throttle booster can. It makes adjustments based on your speed and gear. You can even adjust for auto or manual transmission.

Banks Ram-Air System for 2020-22 Duramax L5P | Features, Benefits, and Competitive Analysis
Brand new for the 2020-2022 L5P platform, the Banks Ram-Air intake is a game-changer. With 2020 and up Duramax engines, GM has further tightened the allowable range for induction tuning. To counter this, Banks engineers have designed a new patented Air Mass Control Module that allows an intake design to go beyond these limitations for truly unmatched airflow performance.
With a Big-Ass filter, huge induction tube, and a unique bellowed silicone coupler to allow for engine movement while tapering down to increase air density, your Duramax L5P engine will breathe easy and cleanly. Its enclosed airbox design keeps power-robbing heat away and attaches to the OEM hood and front ram air scoops for even better performance at speed. An extra side inlet opens up to the wheel well for fresh air and owners will enjoy stronger induction sound.

First Startup of our Supercharged Duramax (most responsive engine we’ve ever heard!)
Over a year in the making... LokJaw roars to life. "I've never had an engine that responds like this," says Gale Banks with a smile from ear to ear. "High-compression big block Chevy with a blower. This guy is the champion." Here’s your chance to hear the first of our forthcoming series of high-performance diesel turnkey (crate) engines. The exhaust note from all modern diesel engines is dampened by a turbo. There is no turbo to reduce the sound from this engine. The exhaust exits the engine through a set of custom headers, into a collector, and out to the world via twin Banks 5” Monster Exhausts. After Banks calibrator Jeff Lee tunes the engine, we'll be hitting the road. Subscribe so you don't miss any tire smoke.

How to prevent RAM Cummins 6.7L engine failure due to stock grid heater
Over time, a bolt in the 2007-current stock RAM 6.7L Cummins grid heater deteriorates, falls into the intake runner, and makes its way into cylinder #6. In many cases, it results in total engine failure. Many mechanics either aren't aware of the problem or do not take the engine apart to properly diagnose it. They simply replace the engine. Therefore, the problem persists. With the help of Protech Diesel Center in Kamloops, British Columbia, Gale Banks shows the problem close-up and reveals a cost-effective solution.

Banks PedalMonster Review on a 2022 Ford Raptor | How to improve throttle response
As a three-time Ultra 4 (King of the Hammers) champion, Jason Scherer expects precise throttle response. Unfortunately, he doesn't get the response in most consumer vehicles, even a '22 Ford Raptor. So, he tested a Banks PedalMonster throttle sensitivity controller and was blown away.
“Most of the time you’re not wide open throttle. You’re driving around town, you’re in and out of a parking lot. You’re trying to get through a corner and enjoy a mountain road… you’re doing quarter-to-half throttle and maybe three-quarter throttle and that’s where this makes such a difference. The Banks system is actually giving you the full travel of the pedal. The way that it’s done is by giving you response in the middle where you want and not where you don’t.”

CFM is dead. MAF is what matters. Gale explains | Speed School Podcast Ep 7
Gale is joined by grandson Erik Reider, Banks' Special Projects Lead. Erik and Gale explain how measuring CFM on an industry-standard airflow bench can be misleading. Measuring mass air flow is what the engine really cares about. The engine needs to know the mass of the air, not just its volume.
"We're not talking CFM to the public anymore," says Gale. "We've used CFM because it's a convenient comparison. But our literature and website will all go to mass flow. If you want to compare your products to ours, you'll have to use mass flow. That's what the engine cares about. Or, we'll just compare your stuff for you."
Gale also explains why innovation in the speed equipment industry is being stifled and how he aims to inject new ideas.

Banks PedalMonster Restores Your Truck's Throttle Response
It's exhilarating! PedalMonster makes your throttle respond the way the vehicle manufacturer should have. The new patented PedalMonster is the smartest and safest throttle booster available. It's the first-ever OBD-II data-connected intelligent throttle response controller for cars and trucks. When Gale and the Banks Engineering team discovered that all other throttle boosters were unsafe, they set out to design a better one.
City, Sport, and Track modes provide 10 unique levels each of increasing intensity for both manual and automatic transmissions, making modern drive-by-wire cars and trucks feel more responsive than ever! Dead pedal is a thing of the past.
PedalMonster’s internal circuitry is powered by the reliable +12 volt OBD-II connector. Competitive devices draw current directly from the low-overhead +5 volt throttle pedal circuit, often causing a check engine light and reduced engine power. And, after removal, no footprint is left behind, making it warranty-friendly.
PedalMonster seamlessly integrates with Banks tuners, and exhaust brakes, and supports all popular cars and trucks, domestic and foreign, stock and tuned! Available as a stand-alone module, for use with existing iDash, with iDash SuperGauge, and iDash DataMonster.
