Pak 40 - Walkaround - Zandoerle.
Originally uploaded on 4 nov. 2017.
The 7.5 cm Pak 40 was developed in 1939–1941 by Rheinmetall
after reports of new Soviet tank designs.
The 5 cm Pak 38 was still in testing at this point,
but it appeared it would not be powerful enough
to deal with these newer designs.
However, while the Pak 38 made extensive use of
light alloys to reduce overall gun weight.
As a result, the Pak 40 used steel throughout its
construction and
was proportionally heavier than the 5 cm model.
A modified version of the gun designed specifically
for vehicle-mounting was the 7.5 cm KwK 40.
The Pak 40 was the standard German anti-tank
gun until the end of the war,
23,303 Pak 40s were produced and about 3,500
more were used to arm tank destroyers.
The weapon was effective against almost every
Allied tank until the end of the war,
only struggling to penetrate heavier vehicles like the
Russian IS tanks,
the American Sherman Jumbo and M26 Pershing,
and later variants of the British Churchill tank.
But overall performance was pretty good.
It was also see action in the Vietnam war and would be used by
Norway postwar.
In September 1944 during the Allied
operation of Market Garden, this gun
was captured from the enemy. and during the
liberation parties on the 13 of May 1945 this gun
was placed on this square by the inhabitants,
it was restored in 2005 for the movie
Zwartboek ( Black Book) but never used in the
movie and returned as a monument.

General Adna R. Chaffee,Jr.
The M24 was intended to replace
the M5 Stuart, but the US Army
had problems reaching the

By the end of the war, many armored
divisions were still mainly
equipped with the M3/M5 Stuart.
After the war it served in postwar
conflicts including the Korean war
and the war in Algeria and the
Fist Indochina War.
Many countries used the
M24 after the war and
it's still in service in some
countries today.
This M24 Chaffee
has no recorded history, but was probably
a postwar Chaffee that served
with the French army and was placed here
as a gatekeeper to the
Quartier Estienne.

Originally uploaded on 18 feb. 2017.
The Panzerkampfwagen III,
Sd.Kfz. 141.
Was a German medium tank
developed in the 1930s,
and was used extensively in WWII.
It was developed to fight other
AFV and support the Panzer IV.
But it became obsolete
in the role, because
of the T-34 and more
powerful anti-tank guns.
The Panzer IV had more
potential and was there for
redesigned to mount the
7.5 cm Kwk 40 gun.
The Panzer III was later mounted
with the 7.5 cm Kwk 37 L/24,
and was better suited
for infantry support.
But the Panzer III, still became
obsolete in his role
and production ended
in 1943, when only
5.774 were produced.
This Panzer III can be viewed
at the Saumur Tank Museum
in Saumur, France.
It was made at the
Daimler-Benz AG, Marienfelde,
Berlin, Germany.
It has no combat history.
You would think this
Ausf.F. is an Ausf.H.
but it was upgraded
to an Ausf.H standard, sometime
during the war.

And was manufactured
by Fisher Tank Arsenal
It would have had a
GM 6046 twin diesel engine.
This version was produced with all the
improvements
the other types got, like
the large hatch hull.
M4A2 was mostly supplied
to other Allied countries under
Lend-Lease.
The M4A2 would see
limited combat in the US Army
and the French and British,
would use them the most
and then the
Russians and USMC in the Pacific.
The M4A2 would perform fairly well
and would see service
after the war and would see many
upgrades
Like the HVSS E8 tracks and,
the 76mm M1 gun.
This Sherman with serial
number 13859,
was built by Pullman Standard.
It has no combat history and
It was saved from
the Bourges target
range in France and was
restored and placed at the
Place du General Pershing.
Because the major of
the town seems to
be really interested in
WWII history and wanted a Sherman
tank memorial in his town.
You can also find a German

to this Sherman.

Wespe Sd.Kfz. 124 - Walkaround - Saumur Tank Museum.
Originally uploaded on 29 jul. 2017.
The Sd.Kfz. 124 Wespe Feldhaubitze 18/2 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II was a German self-propelled gun
used during WWII.
It was developed because it became clear that the
Panzer II, was an obsolete design and unsuitable as a main battle tank.
The chassis, however, proved serviceable for providing mobility to the 10.5 cm field howitzer.
The Wespe went into production on February 1943
until June 1944,it would see its first combat in 1943 on the Eastern Front. It proved very successful, and Hitler ordered all Panzer II chassis production be dedicated to the Wespe alone, at the expense of other projects, including the Marder II self-propelled anti-tank gun.

7.7 cm Feldkanone96 n.A - Walkaround - Musée Somme 1916.
Originally uploaded on 14 apr. 2018.
The 7.7 cm Feldkanone96 n.A. combined the barrel of the
earlier 7.7 cm FK 96 with a recoil system,
a new breech and a new carriage.
The FK 96 n.A. was shorter-ranged, but lighter than
the French canon de 75 modele 1897
or the British Ordnance QF 18 Pounder gun.
The gun proved to have great mobility, which
served the German army well during the early
stages of WWI.
But when the front became static,
the greater rate of fire of the French and Britsh
guns put the German army at a disadvantage.

M4A1(76)w E8 Sherman - Walkaround - Bevrijdingsmuseum Zeeland.
Production of the M4A1 tank began in February 1942 after the British
placed an order, it would have had a cast nose,
turret and a one-piece cast hull, with a 75mm cannon.
And was manufactured by Lima Locomotive Works.
These tanks were designed on British specs and was fitted
with the Continental R-975 air-cooled radial engine.
The M4A1 would be replaced on December 1943,
by the M4A1(76) W,
which received a more recent 76 mm M1 main gun,
A new turret with a new commander cupola
featuring 6 prismatic vision blocks and
a new modernized Continental R975-C1 engine.
Additional armor plate was often welded in front of the driver
and co/driver’s position at the front of the tank and
at the side to give them greater protection.
Later version would be identical to the M4A1(76)W, but
had the E8 Horizontal Volute Suspension System.
The Horizontal Volute Suspension System was developed
to reduce Ground Pressure and keep up with the
Shermans additional weight.
The HVSS system had a much wider 23 inch track, but still
remained a bolt on module.
It could replace the VVSS suspension on any version of the
Sherman or anything based on its hull.
It was very well received and used on many
late production Sherman models
and a few of the variants. It solved the flotation
problem with no drawbacks.
The M4A1(76)W Sherman HVSS was a pretty successful
vehicle and had an efficient gun.
After the war, it would be used by countries
like The Netherlands and
France.
This M4A1(76)W Sherman HVSS was used by Dutch army
and was sent to the Oldenbroek artillery shooting camp,
where the tank was used for decades as a shooting target,
after the tanks of this type were phased out
at the end of the 1950s.
The tanks would be salvaged in 2015 and was
transported to the Museum in Zeeland.
It was restored and in December 20, 2016,
the restored tank was
placed in the Liberation Park Zeeland.

M1937 (53-K) 45mm - Walkaround - 45-мм противотанковая пушка - Bevrijdingsmuseum Zeeland.
The 45 mm anti-tank gun model 1937 was a light quick-firing anti-tank
gun used in the early stage of WW2.
It was created by Soviet artillery designer M.N. Loginov in 1936.
The 53-K was essentially an improved version 19-K anti-tank gun
mounted on a 37 mm 1-K anti-tank gun chassis, which was a licensed copy of the 3.7 cm Pak 36.
It was developed to be using more modern ammunition and would have had an improved semi-automatic breech, sight,
firing button and suspension.
Production of the gun would start in 1938 until 1943, with a total of 37,354 units built.
For it's time the 53-K had great anti-armor capabilities it allowed crews to successfully combat any early tank.
Early models of the Panzer III and Panzer IV could also be
knocked out at close range, but because of the limited crew protection the
model 1937 would be replaced by the longer-barreled M-42 in 1942.
In addition to serving in the Red Army, 53-K guns
were also supplied to Republican Spain and were used by the International
Brigades in the British Anti-tank Battery of the XV Brigade.

The LVT (officially designated as Landing Vehicle Tracked)
is an amphibious warfare vehicle and amphibious landing craft,
introduced by the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. the LVT was designed by Developed by Donald Roebling
in 1935 as a civilian rescue vehicle called the Alligator.
Roebling was asked by the military to design a more seaworthy
model for military use which would be a cargo carrier for ship to shore operations, they evolved into assault troop and fire support vehicles.
Production would start on July 1941 and the first LVT-1 would be a easily produced design.
The production would lead to the LVT-2.3.4, Buffalo and other developments.
The United States Army, Canadian Army and British Army used several LVT models during World War II,.
The LVT would see action in the Pacific and Europe. It would mostly see action in the Pacific and in
Europe, LVTs were mainly used for landings and river crossing operations
as well as assaults in swampy zones. By the end of 1943,
200 LVT-1s had been delivered to the British Army for training in
preparation for future operations in Europe.
The U.S., British, and Canadian armies used the Buffalo
in the 1944 Battle of the Scheldt.
The would also see action in the Korean War and would be used by some countries after the war.
The LVT-4 in the Bevrijdingsmuseum Zeeland, in the Netherlands,
has no historical information but it's one of the two in the collection of the museum and the only one on display.
This LVT with the nickname Falconer was restored in 2019 and replaced the second LVT nicknamed the Spider inside the new museum building in 2020.
Because the LVT nicknamed Spider is in running condition the Falconer was restored for static display with it's engine outside.

This tank is displayed with turret number 407, which is wrong and it would probably had
turret number 214, other sources say It was abandoned in a field probably because
it ran out of fuel on 26 December 1944.It was salvaged after the battle and placed closer
to this spot and in the 60's it was repainted and placed at the Grandmenil crossroads.

Renault FT - Driving around - Walkaround - Militracks.
The Renault FT, (later called the FT17 in WWII) was a French light tank that was among the most revolutionary and influential tank designs in history.
The FT was the first production tank to have its armament within a fully rotating turret.
The FT was developed in started in 1915, Renault would actually decline to develop the FT and Schneider company, would start on the development of the Schneider CA, which became the first French operational tank.
But in 1916 Renault started on the design of the FT, Louis Renault himself conceived the new tank's overall design and set its basic specifications.
The prototype did have some problems and only 84 were produced in 1917, some problems would never be solved and the FT would be plagued by radiator fan belt problems throughout the war.

Renault R35 Bunker. #shorts 4
Renault R35 at Musée Mémorial Bataille de Normandie, Bayeux.
Video Here: https://youtu.be/1KmYnvP1YLw This Museum is situated in the heart of one of the strategic sites of the Battle of Normandy in the city of Bayeux. The Town of Bayeux was the first town to be liberated in mainland France on 7 June 1944. The museum is closely located to the memorial garden and the British war cemetery. The museum presents the military operations which took place during 7 June to 29 August 1944 in the Battle of Normandy. All with display cases focusing on the Allied and German soldiers and their equipment and vehicles, the museums provides a lot of information and almost every item is labeled and tells a story. Some interesting vehicles on display are the D7 Dozer and FlakPanzer 38(t) and a Wespe. The museum is a mix of modern and classic displays. And I would highly recommend going to this museum, it's conveniently located with free parking and the British war cemetery and memorial is a walking distance away

Renault FT TSF Command tank - Walkaround - Militracks.
Because the Renault FT had a great base for several rolls and being the first real modern tank numerous variants were produced on top of the chassis.
One of them was the Char Renault TSF (télégraphie sans fil – telegraph without a wire), a radio command tank.
The TSF was developed in 1916/17 after the need of an observation vehicle which could provide contact between units
and their headquarters became clear. The crew was increased from two to three men, a driver, radio operator and commander
and the turret was replaced by a fixed armoured superstructure,
equipped with a cupola on top, an observation window in front a periscope.
During 1917 the number of required radio tanks
was originally 200 but this was later increased in early 1918.
This Renault FT TSF was restored to running condition by the Weald Foundation. It was restored from several FT parts and
the superstructure, was collected from a private collector in France, which probably got it from the Maginot Line were many of these
superstructures were used.
Being that this TSF was built up from several parts, makes this vehicle not an original build tsf.
That's nothing weird because this is an extremely rare vehicle, with only 6
real hulls left in the world.

SEXTON 25pdr SP - Walkaround - Ver-Sur-Mer - Espace Robert Kiln.
The 25pdr SP, tracked, Sexton was a Canadian-designed self-propelled artillery vehicle.
Development of the Sexton started after the British General Staff requirement a vehicle with mobility and characteristics of
the M7 Priest but with the QF 25 pounder gun-howitzer.
the Priest used the American 105 mm howitzer which was not in use
in other British units.
Having to supply different ammunition for just a few units complicated supply for the British Army.
The Americans started working on a T51 prototype 25 pounder Howitzer Motor Carriage, but this vehicle suffered delays, so Britain turned to Canada.
The Canadians were asked to build a vehicle similar to the M7 on the Ram tank chassis.
A prototype was completed on 23 June 1942, which would follow trials in Canada and in the United Kingdom in early 1943. the vehicle was found to be highly satisfactory and was given the designation "Sexton" and 300 orders of the Sextons would follow in the summer of 1943.
The British Sextons were to be built on Grizzly tank hulls instead of Ram tank hulls.
The Ram-based Sexton was designated as the Sexton Mark I and the Grizzly-based Sexton was designated the Sexton Mark II. British orders for the Sexton II eventually totaled 2,026 vehicles.
The Sexton would first see combat in Italy and later in the Battle of Normandy and the invasion of France
During the D-day landings, a number of Sextons were ordered to fire
from their landing craft as they approached the beaches although
the fire did not prove to be very accurate, because of the unstable platform.
But it proved to be a successful design that remained in British service until 1956.
This Sexton has no historical information it was probably sold to Portugal and ended up with many vehicles at Pounds of Portsmouth scrapyard in the UK in the 1980.
It was sold and restored in the 90s and with the effort from Dr Matthew KILN placed as a monument at Ver-Sur-Mer in memory of his father. Major Robert KILN, and the British troops who landed on this beach.

M10 Wolverine - Walkaround - Cavalry Monument Saumur.
Originally uploaded on Feb 25, 2017
The M10 tank destroyer was an American tank destroyer during WW2,
it was officially called the 3-inch Gun Motor Carriage M10 and never Wolverine during the war.
It was armed with the 3-inch M7 gun on a modified Sherman tank chassis.
The M10 proved to be an excellent tank destroyer, but the open-topped turret left the crew vulnerable and a lot of crew were lost because of artillery fire, on the other hand the open-topped turret gave excellent
visibility which was valuable to a tank destroyer and it also improved reload speed.
The M10 was only produced from 1942 until 1943 and approximately 6,406 were made.
90 mm Gun Motor Carriage M36 began to arrive in Europe, and mostly replaced the M10 by the end of the war.
The plans to retain any towed battalions at all were canceled after their generally poor performance and high losses in 1944, especially during
the Battle of the Bulge.
The M10 would also see action in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
The M10 at the Cavalry Memorial in Saumur has no historical information, but was probably used by the French after the war and maybe by the
Free French Forces.

Churchill MKVII - Memorial Of Operation Astonia - Walkaround.
The Infantry Mk VII Churchill was a British heavy infantry tank was the heaviest Allied tanks of WWII known for its heavy armour,
large longitudinal chassis with all-around tracks with multiple bogies and
its use as the basis of many specialist vehicles, like the AVRE and the Crocodile.
Development of the Churchill tank started as the A20 heavy tank just before the outbreak of wwii, with the idea of attacking a fixed defensive line, crossing wide trenches, possibly shell-cratered ground similar to wwi trench warfare.
Because the war in France was lost the development of the vehicle
changed and with a German invasion of Britain being imminent and the need of the A22 to enter production within a year was imminent.
By July 1940, the design was complete and by December of that year the first prototypes were completed. In June 1941, the first Churchill tanks began rolling off the production line.
Because of its hasty development, the Churchill was plagued with mechanical faults.
Most apparent was that the Churchill's engine was under-powered and unreliable. the 2 pounder was also inadequate and the production of a turret to carry the QF 6 pounder gun began in 1941.
The Churchill was used for the first time in the Dieppe Raid in August 1942 and did not preform great.
Production would almost cease in favor of the Cromwell tank, but the Mk III preformed great in the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942.
The improved Mk VII, had even more armour and the British 75 mm gun, it would be used in the Battle of Normandy.
In Normandy it could cross terrain obstacles that most other tanks could not where the tank's ability to surmount obstacles was found to be of value was the capture of Hill 309.
The Churchill also was a versatile tank and was used in numerous specialist roles during D-Day and the remainder of the war.
Production would stop in 1945 after 5,640 were produced.
They would see action in the Korean War and remained in service in the British Army until 1952.
The Churchill tank at the Memorial of Operation Astonia, in the small town of Fontaine-la-Mallet in France has no historical information
it was placed here to honor the Allied attack on the German-held Channel port of Le Havre in France.
Fought from 10 to 12 September 1944, the Allied objective was to secure the harbour facilities intact, to deliver supplies to the Allied armies in Continental Europe.
The Allies would refuse civilians to be evacuated and during the bombardment of the city 2,000 civilians were killed. the port was badly damaged and the damaged to the infrastructure was severe and it would take a month to re-open the port.
