The ELC was a prototype
light tank project launched
by the French in 1955.

The purpose of the ELC
(Engin Léger de Combat)
project was to develop a
lightweight armoured but heavily
armed fighting
vehicle capable of being
transported by airlift for
rapid deployment.

Many turrets models
were tested on the first
chassis design.

One of these turrets had
twin 30mm HS825
cannons mounted on a
pedestal-type
turret and two machine guns.

In 1957, a new chassis was
designed and this chassis
was completed in 1961.
