Hostin on White Women Voting GOP: They ‘Want to Protect the Patriarchy’
HOSTIN: "I think that women, white women in particular, want to protect the patriarchy here, because it’s to their benefit. They want to make sure that their husbands do well. They want to make sure that their sons do well. They want to make sure that their children do well. And they want to make sure that they do well. Most of the women in some of these studies are married white women, and they do fall in line with what their husbands are doing, what their — how their husbands are voting.”
GRIFFIN: “Well the what do you attribute the Cuomo support among women, female voters or Bill Clinton support.”
HOSTIN: “I think — I think the part of that — oh, thank you, that’s nice.”
GRIFFIN: “I have —“ [crosstalk]
HOSTIN: “I think — I — I think — I think part — part of that is to Joy’s positions. They think that those — that the policies of let’s say Clinton is going to —“
BEHAR: “Yes.”
HOSTIN: “— is in line with their policies. I think with white female Republicans, you have a Republican Party that is taking away your health right to decide for yourself. You have all of these things —“
GRIFFIN: “There is an — there is an actual quote in this article, one of the people interviewed who says, I think Trump’s an idiot. I hate him as a person. But I’m concerned about the economy. I can barely afford to live. I went college. I have a degree." [crosstalk]

Dem Rep. Bowman: ‘We Need to Stop Drilling for Fossil Fuels Completely’
Another major problem is the Joe Manchin pipeline that we fought so hard to stop from being built, that is still a part of this bill. And what’s problematic about that is, number one, we need to stop drilling for fossil fuels completely. But number two, we need an expedited way to get us to clean, renewable energy or we will continue to have these severe weather events that we have been having for quite some time because of the warming of the planet. And then, finally, the work requirement piece has expanded to those receiving SNAP from age 49 to 50, to 54. Again, we’re talking about the most vulnerable Americans who are already living in abject poverty.”

Rep. Chip Roy on Proposed Debt-Ceiling Deal: ‘The Government Is 40% Bigger than It Was Pre-Covid’
Mike Emanuel: "The deadline according to Treasury Secretary is Monday. That doesn't give you much time."
ROY: Yeah. I mean, they should have thought about that before 104 days went by where Joe Biden didn’t do anything at all and a deal cut going into memorial day weekend without all of us around the table deciding whether this was in the best interest of the United States of America. Just because the swamp is flawed doesn’t mean the average hardworking American should take it on the chin. Why should they accept that we should pass right now. Sweep the Covid money. Sweep the IRS money that was to expand the IRS to go after the American people three to five times more going after minorities and hardworking Americans who are poorer than the wealthy and non-minorities. Why Don’t We take that money. Give Janet Yellen what she needs for breathing room in June and July and pass a responsible debt ceiling increase. I know the “Wall Street Journal” is editorializing in favor of it. Again I know why. They are looking at that time it in terms of these check the box wins. Look at the curve. The American people now, the government is 40% bigger than it was pre-covid. Let’s go back to pre-covid levels of spending. That’s what we asked for. We are not. This deal doesn’t do that.

Why Are Target and Kohl's So Woke? It's ESG! Just Follow The Money!
Target and Kohl's have continued to push gender ideology on children, offering kids clothes with slogans and iconography that are questionable. And, in the case of Target, offering swimsuits to children that allow for "tucking."
Boycotts are happening. But these companies do not seem bothered or worried. Why is that? The answer to most things is "follow the money." And it could be that ESG is making sure these companies make plenty of cash. If the investor is spending, maybe the customer doesn't matter anymore.
Tony Katz takes a look at why Target and Kohl's are acting this way.

Rep. Barr: Biden ‘Has Been Missing in Action for the Last 6 Months’ on Debt Ceiling
BARR: “We don’t have a — a revenue problem, we have an overspending problem in Washington. I believe that there has been some modest progress made in the discussions. I did talk to my colleague Garret Graves this morning and negotiations have been moving forward over the — over the — the evening last night. But the fact remains that after House and Senate Democrats and President Biden increased the nation’s spending trajectory by $10 trillion over the first two years of the Biden Administration, the president has been missing in action for the last six months on these discussions related to avoiding a default.”

Morning Joe Panel Confused by DeSantis Twitter Spaces Presidential Announcement
JORDAN: “... seems to make no sense. Because first of all, why do you share your big moment with a huge, powerful billionaire who’s arguably more famous and has more name ID than you do? And then second, you’re on this platform that’s diminishing in its popularity, and also its reach. Maybe political journalists talk about it.”
GEIST: “Right.”
JORDAN: “Maybe the far right elites talk about it. But Twitter is a diminishing force these days. And you’ve seen how Three Elon everything he touches can — you know, he does well, when he’s engineering in his Tesla, but with Twitter, you’ve seen how he doesn’t mind just casually tossing a couple of billion dollars or multiple billion dollars. And so you’ve got this volatile actor that you’ve given so much power for your big moment, it just really makes sense.”
GEIST: “Well, in many ways, John, since he took over Twitter, Elon Musk has become a hero to conservatives because they feel like their voices were silenced on social media, at least on Twitter, and he’s given their platform back, at least to share some of that space. Maybe a shot across the bow of Donald Trump, I got the richest most famous guy on my side, we know that Elon Musk is kind of malleable that way, he may decide to like somebody else tomorrow. What do you make of the platform in the way that Ron DeSantis finally is rolling out the campaign.”
LEMIRE: “I mean it’s another sign of where Musk’s political ideologies lie, even though he said he wanted Twitter — he wanted to be independent, nonpartisan. Here he is siding himself with one of the heavyweights in the Republican Party. I think it is interesting also that it shows his influence and it’s maybe it’s DeSantis’ snubbing Fox News by saying, ‘Hey, let’s do this on Twitter,’ as opposed to talking to them. I’m going to go the other way up from Charlie Sykes though. I think the tonight at 5:59 P.M. is probably Donald Trump’s first tweet back, try to steal some of that thunder. But Katty Kay, one thing — this is — undeniably, it’s an unusual way to announce a campaign.”

Sen. Ted Cruz Breaks Down Biden, Congressional Democrats’ ‘Spending Binge’
Cruz: “You know, given ‘Squawk Box’ gets into the numbers, I think it’s worth pausing for a second and reflecting at how different this is from the past. So, 2017, total federal spending was about $4 trillion. Total federal tax revenue was about $3.3 trillion. Now, quick math, that means we had about a $700 million deficit. That was 2017. Fast forward to today. Total spending has gone from $4 trillion up to $6.5 trillion, $6.4 trillion. Tax revenues have exploded. Tax revenues have gone from $3.3 trillion to $4.8 trillion. Now, quick pause to note, when we signed the 2017 tax cuts that I fought very hard to pass, every Democrat went on TV and said this going to slash federal revenues and blow up the deficits. Turns out they were entirely wrong on that. Every year, federal tax revenues have gone up, and they have gone up from $3.3 trillion to $4.8 trillion. The problem isn’t tax revenues. The problem is we had a spending binge from the Democrats that has caused the national debt to go from $20 billion to — $20 trillion, rather, to $32 trillion.”

Tim Scott Reacts to Sunny Hostin: ‘I’m Not the Exception, I Am Actually the Rule’
NAVARRO: “... speaks about things like after the police shootings in — in — against African-Americans in 2016 he did some speeches on the Senate floor —“
Goldberg: “Mm-hmm.”
NAVARRO: “— that were incredibly impactful about what it’s like to live in America, what it’s like to live in the south. Let’s remember he’s from South Carolina, in the skin of a black man.”
HOSTIN: “But yet he ignores systemic racism.”
Goldberg: “Yeah.”
GRIFFIN: “No, but —“
HOSTIN: “He pretends that —“ [crosstalk]
NAVARRO: “But what I’m saying to you is, they’re not hearing it from Tim Scott, they’re not hearing it, period.”
GRIFFIN: “I think —“
NAVARRO: “At least he’s adding that.”
HOSTIN: “But I think one of the issues that Tim Scott has is that he seems to think because I made it, everyone can make it, ignoring again, the fact that he is the exception and not the rule. And until he is the rule —“
GRIFFIN: “ But he has —“
HOSTIN: “— then he can stop talking about systemic racism.”
Goldberg: “It’s great Clarence Thomas syndrome.” [crosstalk]
TIM SCOTT: "I believe in the gospel. If you break into my house, I believe in the Second Amendment and will make sure we defend everything in this country. We have to disprove their lives by our actions. The host wants to be judged by the content of her character and not the color of her skin. America is a story of evolution and to many of our schools indoctrinating our kids instead of educating. I am not the exception. I'm actually the rule. Every kid trapped in a failing school can look at big labor unions and blame them. Every parent who wants a choice, look to the Republican Party, the GOP African Americans, Hispanic and Americans, they all agree on school choice. What is in the way of providing a child with a better education or future? The radical left."

Sen. Tim Scott Announces Presidential Run: ‘I’m Living Proof’ America Is a Land of Opportunity
Scott: “We live in the land of opportunity. We live in the land where it is absolutely possible for a kid raised in poverty, in a single parent household, in a small apartment to one day, serve in the people’s house, and maybe even the White House. (Cheering and Applause)
This — this is the greatest nation on God’s green earth. Today I’m thinking back to my grandfather, born in 1921 in Sally, South Carolina, in the Deep South. By the time he was in the third grade, he was forced out of school, his education was over and he was forced to start picking cotton. But my grandfather lived long enough to watch his grandson pick out a seat in Congress. (Cheering and Applause)
That’s — that’s the evolution of the country we live in. My family went from cotton to Congress in his lifetime. (Cheering and Applause) And it was only — it was only possible because my grandfather had a stubborn faith, faith in God, faith in himself, and faith in what America would be. He looked beyond the pain of his present and he saw the promise of his future. That black man who struggled through the Jim Crow South, believed then what some doubt now, in the goodness of America. (Cheering and Applause)
I was seven years old when my parents divorced. We moved in with my grandparents. My mom and my brother, we all three shared one bed and one bedroom, in that 700 square foot rental home. But my grandfather said to me, ‘Son, you can be bitter or you can be better.’ But you can’t be both. You see, he chose patriotism over pity. He focused on the windshield of his life, and not on the rearview mirror.
And today, I’m living proof that America is the land of opportunity and not a land of oppression. (Cheering and Applause) Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. But you see this, this isn’t just my story. It’s all of our stories. The circumstances and the situations may be different, the details may change, but every single one of us are here because of the American journey, where there were obstacles that became opportunities and our pain revealed our purpose. If you believe that, can somebody say amen?”

Biden G7 Statements on China-US Relationship and Sending F-16s to Ukraine
Biden: “Well, number one, you’re right, we should have an open hotline. At the Bali conference, that’s what President Xi and I agreed we’re going to do and meet on, and then this silly balloon that was carrying two freight cars worth of spying equipment was flying over the United States and it got shot down and everything changed in terms of talking to one another. I think you’re going to see that begin to thaw very shortly.
“So, and my — it will proceed, I can — even if I — I think I do know. I am not gonna tell you because that would not be a smart thing to do either.”

Conway on the Durham Report: The American People Deserve an Apology
CONWAY: We’ll never be apologized to, but the American people deserve an apology, Steve, because I think the FBI, the bad actors there on the seventh floor the Department of Justice, Schiff, Comey, Brennan, Clapper, his friend Tapper at CNN and the whole lot of them, I think they only get away with this if we are all as stupid as they think we are. And now we are awakened. They have awakened a sleeping giant. I do not want to hear reforms have been in place. I don’t want to hear, ‘Nothing to see, nothing to worry about.’ People should be very concerned because politicization of our highest law enforcement agency is weaponization of our highest law enforcement agency. And this is all on the altar of winning a presidential campaign. We’ve got another one less than 18 months away. I think I am not the only American right now who feels afraid and who feels a lack of security and certainty that we won’t again see people at the highest echelons of power trying to prop up the ultimate floppy jalopy lemon, Joe Biden.

DeSantis on DEI: The way it’s practiced stands for Discrimination, Exclusion and Indoctrination
DeSantis: “So really, since November, that’s what we’ve been focused on in Florida. Some of it is things that I’ve done, executive, but most of it has been done in concert with the legislative Branch. I mean, the thing about doing it, as you all know, when you enact the stuff into law, you could have a new governor come in and they can’t just change it. If all you are doing is executive actions, you can have someone come in and change it. We’ve seen that with Biden, a lot of things that he has done. So we’ve just completed what I would say is the boldest and most far-reaching agenda that we’ve seen in the modern history of the Republican Party. If you look at what we’ve been able to accomplish, there is something in there for anybody in terms of the issues that we tackled.”
“So, we’re the first university system, first state to eliminate from our university system this idea of DEI. We signed the bill. It’s gone as of Monday. And it stands for diversity, equity and inclusion, but in reality, that’s a veneer to impose orthodoxy on the university. If you dissent from that, that watch out. They even have, in different parts of the country, they’ve had faculty, prospective faculty have to take a DEI oath just to get hired. And these are folks, if they say — you know, I believe everyone should be treated equally regardless of their race or ethnicity. They will mark you down for saying color blindness and equal treatment. And so, this has become a cottage industry. It’s become, actually, a major grifting opportunity because you’ll have these DEI consultants, they’ll show up, ‘Yeah, I would like to come and lecture about how capitalism is racist, only if you pay me $50,000 an hour.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, come on.’ So our view is that DEI, really, the way it’s practiced, stands for discrimination, exclusion and indoctrination. That has no part in our public institutions, so it’s gone in Florida.”
“We also signed legislation kneecapping this idea of ESG in our state. No ESG in our pension fund, we’ve got $180 billion pension fund, no ESG in contracting local, state government, the bond ratings have to be done based on credit, not based on ESG. And the ESG stuff, really, that’s just a veneer as well. It’s a veneer for them to be able to justify departing from traditional economic and business principles and mobilizing really significant economic resources in service of an ideological agenda. And they want that agenda, they’ll say, you know, climate change or anti-Second Amendment or whatnot, but I think of more — and I think the policies they’re pursuing will be destructive, but I think on a more fundamental level, they are trying to change policy in this country without having to go through you folks, without having to actually put their name on a ballot or vote for folks, because they know a lot of the policies they are advocating would not do well at the ballot box. So can you just — are they allowed to just dispense with that, collude together, use massive amounts of economic power to change the economy or to change policy? And our view is that we the people govern, and we don’t want a social or economic transformation without representation. So, ESG is DOA in the state of Florida.”

Mayor Adams on NYC’s Migrant Crisis: ‘The Numbers Are Just Unbelievable’
GEIST: “Mr. Mayor, you opened a lot eyes a couple of days ago when you announced that almost 50 percent of the hotel rooms in New York City are occupied by asylum seekers, by migrants who have come here after crossing the border into the country. And you have not been shy about saying the Biden Administration needs to do more to help you out. We are proud that we’re a sanctuary city, as you said, you’re proud that we welcome migrants here. But the system is overwhelmed. What gives here — how do you — how do you see a way out of this?”
Adams: “Yes. And when you — the exact numbers, when you look at our hotel rooms from 51 to 200 occupancy that could really handle the — the migrants, 40 — close — over — little over 40 percent of them are handled by migrant and not outside visitors, particularly around now when people come to graduation ceremonies, they go to those small hotels. It has overwhelm our system. And 65,000 of people come into the city just last week and a half ago. We have 4,200 in one week. In one day, we had 900. The numbers are just unbelievable when you think about it. Our goal is to make sure that we have a real decompression strategy at the border and a decompression strategy in the state. And really the Democrats we’re losing this argument. You know, we have an obligation to stay true to what I believe the party stands for. And I think the entire party needs to get behind how we handled this mission. Senator Schumer, Congressman Jeffries and the New York delegation, they have done an amazing job of getting resources. The resources have not gotten here, particularly through FEMA.”

Reid on Abortion Rights: Republicans Act in a ‘Very Talibanesque Way’
REID: “In that scene of women weeping and chanting ‘Shame!’ while a man bangs the gavel and basically tells them, ‘If you can’t be quiet and let us strip you of your rights, you can get out,’ it felt very Taliban to me. And I bring up Taliban a lot with my poor beleaguered team, but the thing about Republicans now is that they are acting in very Taliban-esque way. They are a religious group of extremists who — they definitely don’t care about children. They want to control women. They want total control over women and they are exercising that control. Let’s put up the map. All across the former slave states and in states in the West that they control, while women have no power to stop them or a few join them, then these women wake up in a state where they have no rights.”
