Durham: ‘Our Findings Were Sobering ... What Is Required Is Accountability!’
Durham: “Our findings were sobering and I tell you, having spent 40 years plus as a federal prosecutor, they are particularly sobering to me and number of my colleagues who spent decades in the FBI themselves, they are sobering. While I’m encouraged by some of the reforms that have been implemented by the FBI, the problems identified in this report, anybody who actually reads the report and the details of the report, that documented portions of the report, I think, would find that the problems identified in the report are not susceptible to overnight fixes. As we said in the report, they cannot be addressed solely by enhancing training or additional policy requirements, rather, what is required is accountability, both in terms of the standards through which our law enforcement personnel hold themselves and in the consequences they face for violation of laws and policies of relevance.”

HIGHLIGHTS: Donald Trump on Fox News Special Report with Bret Baier
BAIER: “You made an appearance in federal court in Miami, and your explanation of the Presidential Records Act and your defense how you and others believe that that applies here. Obviously, you know, other legal experts, your Attorney General Bill Barr, they do not think that that applies to handling classified national security and defense materials. But that legal battle aside, I just want to ask you a couple of specifics. Why did you have this very sensitive national security defense documents, like the the war plans for a strike on Iran?”
Trump: “So, like every other president, I take things out. In my case, I took it out pretty much in a hurry. People packed it up and we left. I had clothing in there I had all sorts of personal items in there. Much, much stuff. By the way, when Bill Barr, who is a coward — Bill Barr was a coward, Bill Barr didn’t do what he was supposed to do. I fired him and he has great hatred, and that’s okay because some people do and some people love me very much — “
BAIER: “He said he resigned.”
TRUMP: “He didn’t resign. I asked him to give me a letter immediately because he didn’t have the courage to go after so many different things, and you and I have discussed that before. But he was a coward. He obviously doesn’t like me too much, and there are a lot of people that don’t and there are a lot of people that feel just the opposite.”
TRUMP: "A radical left group by the way, and all the sudden my house got raided."
BAIER: “Do you know if you still have any highly sensitive government documents?”
TRUMP: “No, I don’t have anything, no.”
BAIER: “Okay.”
TRUMP: “But what I’m concerned about, they took everything. Right? I don’t know what they took. They could be stuffing it. I don’t know what they put in there. And we wanted to be there when they were taking. They wouldn’t let anybody in the room. They have never treated a president like this.”
BAIER: “And that’s fair for you to point out. I guess what this points to is this recording where you said you could have declassified it when you were president. You didn’t.”
TRUMP: “No, no, I could have when I was president, but there is no document there. Those were newspaper articles. They were copies of articles and magazines. There was no document there. And I couldn’t have done it after I was out.”
BAIER: “But what do you say to the voter who really liked many of your policies—“
Trump: “They still do.”
BAIER: “—but they can’t handle the scandals or the controversies or the name-calling or the vitriol? What do you say to that voter, who is worried that that all leads to a general election loss?”
TRUMP: “So, based on the polls, I’m leading Biden by a lot. Based on the polls, I’m leading all of the Republicans by a lot, like 40 points and more. Right now, I have the best polls I’ve ever had. People see this stuff for what it is. It’s a political witch-hunt, a continuation.”
BAIER: “More independent voters watch Fox News than any other TV source.”
TRUMP: “A lot less than used to watch it.”
BAIER: “They do watch. Those voters usually — “
Trump: “A lot less, Bret.”
BAIER: “They usually make up all the difference in the election. So to the female independent voter in the suburbs, who struggled with family financing because of inflation, she’s now against Biden, disapproves of Biden, but wasn’t with you in 2020 and so far is a hard ‘no’ for you in 2024 — “
Trump: “You’re not looking at the right polls.”

Ted Lieu: I’d Like to See ‘Paid for by the Kremlin’ Disclosure in Trump Campaign Ads
LIEU: “Thank you, Sen. McCaskill for your question. Nothing in this A.I. Commission Bill precludes Congress from acting in discreet areas of A.I. regulation. I also note that there is A.I. that can counter bad A.I.. So, for example, you have some companies working on A.I. that can authenticate original videos and original images, so that could be something that campaigns can use. In addition, I do support legislation that requires disclosure on ads and social media and so on. Next time, for example, if you see a pro-Trump ad, it might just say at the bottom, ‘paid for by the Kremlin.’ That’s a kind of disclosure we’d like to see.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Okay. Yeah. That would be good. Democratic congressman Ted Lieu of California, thank you very much for coming on the show this morning.”

Susan Page: ‘Biden Has the Great Luxury of Not Having a Credible Primary Opponent’
JANSING: “I mean, that’s another thing Matthew did mention, but it is part of a trajectory, right? You start with the base, maybe save money until you actually get a serious challenger, because you don’t have one in the primary, and just wait for the general to really ramp things up. What do you make of it, Susan?”
PAGE: “Well, you know, Joe Biden has the great luxury of not having a credible primary opponent. The same situation Matt faced with George W. Bush, it’s the situation his father, George H.W. Bush, did not face. He had no choice but to get into an early and vigorous and wounding campaign when he was challenged by Pat Buchanan. So, there is time for Joe Biden to ramp up his campaign. I would argue, though, and this is a point Mark was making, there is no line between being president and being a candidate. This election will be determined by whether voters think Biden has done a good job as president and whether going forward he would do a better job than his opponent, and we’re not quite at that point in this political process.”

Sec. Blinken: ‘When There Is Growth and Progress [in China] … It’s in Our Interest’
Blinken: “On Taiwan, I reiterated the long standing U.S. One China Policy. That policy has not changed. It’s guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, Three Joint Communiqués, the Six Assurances. We do not support Taiwan independence. We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect the peaceful resolution of Cross-Strait differences. We remain committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Taiwan Relations Act, including making sure that Taiwan has the ability to defend itself.”
XIAOWEN: “Thank you, Mr. Secretary. I’m from Phoenix TV. We know for some time now, the United States had been pushing dialogue with China. By the same time we saw the United States has included some Chinese companies to its entity list, Restricted CHIPS Act, chip exports to China and plan to limit investment in high tech sector. And China believes the United States is both seeking dialogue and the same time containing China. So I want to ask, how will you address these concerns, and to show sincerity to communicate? Thank you.”
BLINKEN: “Well, as I noted, this was actually an important part of the conversations that we had. And as I suggested to our colleague a few minutes ago, it was important to me that we make clear the very clear difference between allegations that we were — that we’re trying to contain China and decouple economically, as opposed to what we’re actually doing, which is, as I’ve said, derisking and also diversifying, when it comes to our supply chains. As I mentioned, the economic relationship with China is vitally important. And also, when it’s fair, a very positive thing for countries around the world. And at a time when countries are trying to rebound from — from Covid, something the United States has done very successfully, we want to see growth, we want to see success in every part of the world, including, of course, in the major economies like China. It’s in our interest. But at the same time, as I said, it’s not in our interest to provide technology to China that could be used against us. And at a time when it’s engaged in a buildup of its nuclear weapons program in a very opaque way. When it’s producing hypersonic missiles, when it’s using technology for repressive purposes against its own people, how is it in our interest to provide those specific technologies to China? And other countries feel the same way. So what this is about, again, is not trying to cut off, eliminate, hinder economic relations. On the contrary, we think that they should be strengthened but in a way that looks out for our workers, that looks out for our companies. And I heard many concerns about that today. But at the same time, we can, we will, and we must, take steps necessary to protect our national security. If the shoe were on the other foot, I have no doubt that China would do exactly the same thing.”

Obama Goes After Sen. Scott on Racism in America: GOP Candidates will 'Validate America'
Obama: “I think there is a long history of African-American or other minority candidates within the Republican Party who will validate America and say everything is great and we can all make it. Nikki Haley, I think, has a similar approach. I’m not being cynical about Tim Scott individually. I am maybe suggesting that the rhetoric of ‘Can’t we all get along,’ that has to be undergirded with an honest accounting of our past and our present.”

Rep. James Comer: We Expect to Identify ‘$20-30 Million’ in New Biden Bank Records
BARTIROMO: “If this is all true about a sitting president when he was vice president influence peddling, accepting money from foreign national so that he could turn around and make changes in policy for America, so he could pocket the money, if that’s true, why isn’t he impeached already? And if it’s true that the FBI is doing nothing about it, why isn’t Christopher Wray on his heels as well?”
COMER: “Those are great questions, I ask every day. Look, Christopher Wray has no control over the FBI. One thing that I’ve learned from dealing with Grassley’s whistleblowers is that this is an organization in disarray. No one has confidence in leadership at the top. You have bureaucrats, deep state bureaucrats, who are running the show. They’re partisan. They want to get Donald Trump, they don’t care what Joe Biden does, because Joe Biden can be controlled. So we have issues with the FBI, but my investigation is about following the money. We’re going to continue to follow the money. And, Maria, I can assure you, there’s more money that we’re going to be able to identify that was transferred between foreign nationals in other countries and the Biden family. This is going to be hard for Joe Biden to explain and it’s not going to go away. This is going to be an issue and I think eventually, the mainstream media will turn on Joe Biden and start asking the real questions: What did your family do to receive all this money?”
BARTIROMO: “What number are you up to now? How much have you identified in the money he’s taken in from foreign nationals?”
COMER: “We have more bank — we have more bank records coming in, but we’re going to exceed $10 million this week, and I think we’ll get up between $20 million and 30 million.”

Miami Mayor Suarez: 'I’m Running for President Because I Have a Different Message'
STEPHANOPOULOS: “We’re back with our ABC News exclusive. The newest presidential candidate Miami Mayor Francis Suarez now jumping into the race to the Republican presidential nomination. Mr. Mayor, good morning to you.”
SUAREZ: “Good morning, George. It’s wonderful to be with you. And good morning America.”
STEPHANOPOULOS: “Why are you running for president?”
SUAREZ: “I’m running for president because I think I have a different message than what other candidates have. I’m — I’m generational. And that generation is a buzzword, but I’m someone who has implemented generational change to create prosperity in the city. I’m someone who was a president of U.S. Conference of Mayors. So I know the problem that 85 percent of Americans who live in cities, and 91 percent who constitute the GDP of this country, are going through things like increasing crime, homelessness, mental health issues. I’m — I’m someone who has a positive track record of success and has a positive vision for the future. I think what I’ve noticed in the last 24 hours, just an outpouring of support, because people want someone who can unify them. I was elected by 85 percent and reelected by 80 percent. And as I’ve traveled the United States, from states like Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, what people want is someone to bring them together. They want to know more, they want to hear more about my track record, about what I’ve accomplished, and what I could do for them and their children. This isn’t about me, this isn’t about my generation, this is about our children.”

HHS Sec. Says Biden Admin. Will Withhold Hospital Grants from States that Ban Mutilation of Kids
BANKS: “This spring HHS released a 112 page report claiming that gender affirmation, including social transition, changing one’s name, pronoun and/or appearance is appropriate and beneficial for gender minority children and adolescents, according to this report. The report recommends cutting federal funds from states with, quote, ‘policies that stigmatize transgender children, including by denying them access to medically necessary health care,’ end quote. Mr. Secretary is does this mean that HHS is seriously threatening to withhold hospital grants from states like my own, if they refuse to go along with surgeries or — or puberty blockers for kids?”
Becerra: “Congressman, we’re going to protect the rights of any American to get the health care they’re entitled to. And if someone tries to stop them from that that’s a violation of the law.”
BANKS: “So you would withhold hospital grants from states like mine that ban transgender sex reassignment surgeries for minors? I mean, that — that’s what the report says clearly.”
Becerra: “We will — we will protect the rights of any individual to receive the health care they’re entitled to. And we will take action against anyone who tries to discriminate this person.”
BANKS: “So that’s a — that’s a yes.”

Is The Recession Here? Dr. Matt WIll Says the Indicators Are There
Reports say that inflation expectations are easing, and most would consider that a good thing. But not being discussed is the lack of credit being extended by banks.
When banks don't lend, that's a sign that things are going in a very, very bad direction.
Economist Dr, Matt Will explains what these indicators mean, and why every American should be aware of what is coming.

Jim Jordan: The Standard and the Law Is That Trump Can Store Classified Docs in a Box in a Bathroom
JORDAN: “Again, Dana, the standard is the standard. The president of the United States, he can classify and he can control access to national security information however he wants. That’s the standard. That’s the Constitution. That’s what the court said in Navy v. Egan, a 1988 case. I don’t know how many more times I can say it. So if he wants to store material in a box in a bathroom, if he wants to store it in a box on the stage, he can do that. That is just what the law and the standard is.”
BASH: “That’s not — “
Jordan: “So again, I think this just underscores how political this whole thing is. Jack Smith — you know how political it is when they selected Jack Smith as special counsel. I actually sat in a deposition with Jack Smith. We deposed him on May 29th, 2014, because he was looking to prosecute people who were targeted by Obama’s IRS, people Lois Lerner was going after. We actually had to depose Jack Smith, and that’s the guy Garland picks — “
BASH: “Sir, you can keep talking about this. I want to talk about the substance of this indictment.

Trump: ‘I Will Never Yield ... I Will Never Be Deterred’
TRUMP: "As everybody in this absolutely packed house knows, I've put everything on the line and I will never yield. I never yield. I will never be deterred. I will never stop fighting for you. I didn't need this. I had a great life. People said, 'would you do it again?' The answer is YES because we are going to make America great again. We had it there, and then bad things happened. Bad things happened with an election, right? Bad, bad things happened."

Can Trump Beat The Rap? Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson Explains
The indictment against President Trump is, in a word, damning. That's not hyperbole; that's a clear-eyed assessment of the document. Trump worked to keep the FBI in the dark about what documents he had. He asked lawyers to destroy documents. He might even be on tape bragging about having classified documents.
Yeah. It's bad.
But what about a country that has targeted Donald Trump for seven years? A country that didn't prosecute Hillary Clinton for actions far worse than the allegations about Trump? a country that seems to be looking the other way on President Biden, Hunter Biden and bribery...and other criminal acts?
Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson has the breakdown on the indictment. Can Trump beat the rap? And what of the "two-tiered" justice system that Republicans are screaming about. Aren't they right?

Psaki: It’s Important for People to Understand that ‘Joe Biden Respects the Rule of Law’
PSAKI: One, I think it’s important for people to understand. Joe Biden respects the rule of law but also respects the separation of branches of power and so when we’re looking at how solemn today is, I mean he nominated attorney general Garland who is operating independently who also named Jack Smith. We all got to this moment and the president was criticized by including members of his party for being slow, not pushing the Department of Justice further. He did that because that’s how the system is supposed to work and we are here because the Justice Department was doing its job. We’ll see how it concludes. We don’t know yet, but I was thinking last night about my former White House colleague, my colleagues I spent so much time with, you know, when this news broke at 7:15, 7:30 last night, Mika, they didn’t have a statement prepared. They weren’t in a war room. Some of them may have been getting in their cars, that’s typically when you finish the senior staff meeting. They did not know this news in advance either. That is how the system is supposed to work and I think it’s important for people to understand that. So, yes, what we’ve seen to just echo Claire from Republicans who have spoken, some exceptions, Asa Hutchinson a little bit is this attack of the justice system, attack of our institutions that have been fundamental to our country for so long. They’re trying to again delegitimize the system and politicize it which is frankly the opposite of what President Biden and the Justice Department currently is trying to do.

Cornel West Slams ‘Neo-Fascist Gangster’ Trump and ‘Neo-Liberal Hypocrite’ Biden
TAPPER: “In our 2024 lead, the field is growing in the 2024 presidential race, with former Vice President Mike Pence and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum entering the race. The total number of Republican candidates now stands at 12. This comes as two Democrats are challenging President Biden for the White House in the Democratic primary — that’s RFK Jr. And Marianne Williamson. And just this week, a third-party candidate jumped into the race, Dr. Cornel West, who launched his bid as a member of the People’s Party. And Dr. West joins us now. So, Dr. West, let me start with the obvious question: How — are you running to win? Are you running to get your issues of importance that you think Joe Biden is not paying enough attention to to the forefront?”
WEST: “Well, I mean, one, my dear brother, you always have a calling to win. You want to bear witness at the highest level of quality, integrity and honesty that you can. So, yes, I’m trying to push toward the finish line. Why? Because I want to reintroduce America to the best of itself, and it’s fairly clear that brother Trump, neo-fascist gangster, not the best. Brother Biden, neo-liberal hypocrite, not the best. I want the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Edward Said, and Chief Joseph, and Grace Lee Boggs, and Luisa Moreno. These are those fighting for poor and working people. Both parties stand in the way of the impoverished and poor and working people. Both parties are tied to Wall Street, militarism, Pentagon, tied to Silicon Valley. What about the 60 percent oppressed Americans of all colors who are struggling every day and month to put food on the table and are hardly doing it while the one percent is simply tied to their quest for the luxurious life. American democracy not just is at stake, the whole planet, brother Jake. You know that, with fossil fuels, and look at the debt ceiling agreement. We can make a deal with brother Manchin in terms of his pipeline that we’ll do in not just working class people’s spaces but ecological collapse given what’s going on on the East Coast, but we can’t make a deal with him in terms of voting rights when you go out to the filibuster, that’s brother Biden. We need something better. Where’s the best of the country?”
TAPPER: “Yeah.”
WEST: “Not just the working people here but around the world, because the militarism abroad is something that I’m deeply concerned about, be it in Latin America, be it in Africa, be it in the Middle East.”

Hawley: If the President Can ‘Just Jail His Political Opponents, We Don’t Have a Republic Anymore’
Here is what I will say. If the president in power can gaol his political opponents, which is what Joe Biden is trying to do tonight, we don’t have a republic anymore. We don’t have the rule of law or constitution. Our constitution is built on the basic rule of law and due process. Nobody should be in doubt of what is happening tonight. Joe Biden and his cronies are trying to take out their chief political opponent. This has never happened in American history. We are in dangerous dangerous waters and it is because of Joe Biden.

Trump Indicted But Biden Isn't? What The What?!?! Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson Explains
President Trump told the world he was indicted yesterday for having classified documents at his home at Mar-a-Lago.
Yet, President Biden - who had classified documents in his home, in his DC office and at university sites - is not being indicted.
How does anyone explain the double standard? And what about President Biden's connection to payoffs from Burisma? The indictment of Trump comes out on the same day we learn of the contents of the FBI document that Director Wray tried to keep from Republicans?
Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson explains the legal implications in all of it. Find his work at http://legalinsurrection.com

Pence. Christie. Burgum? Why Are They Running for 2024?
For most Americans, the GOP field of presidential candidates will come down to President Trump or Gov. Ron DeSantis. For large swaths of the political right, everyone else running in 2024 is looking to be VP, or get a cabinet position.
But even with Trump/DeSantis looming, contenders are still joining the race. Most recently, former VP Mike Pence, former NJ Governor Chris Christie and current North Dakota Governor David Burgum.
Wait. Who?
Why are they running? Well, it's complicated....but not really.
