Rep. Malliotakis Rips NYC Mayor’s Idea of Housing Illegal Migrants in Private Residences
Mayor Adams: “It is my vision to take the next step to this, sort of the faith-based locales, and then move to private residents. There are residents who are suffering right now because of the economic challenges, they have spare rooms, they have locales, and we can find a way to get over the 30-day rule and other rules that government in its place. We can take that $4.2 billion — $4.3 billion, maybe, even now, that we potentially have to spend, and we can put it back into pockets of everyday New Yorkers, everyday houses of worship, instead of put it in the pockets of corporations and some of those corporations come from outside our city.”
WEBSTER: “Look, let’s begin, I know you’re not a fan of this plan, right?”
MALLIOTAKIS: “Of course I’m not a fan of this plan. It’s absolutely outrageous. Not only does New York City have a housing crisis, we have an affordability crisis. People are renting apartments for thousands and thousands of dollars, people are having difficulty paying their mortgage, paying their rent, keeping up with their property taxes that have increased year after year, and the mayor is now telling hard-working taxpayers that they need to pay so individuals who have crossed illegally at the border last week can live rent-free? I mean, what planet are we living on? It’s absolutely outrageous. And the mayor, I’ve said before, needs to challenge — and he is, by the way, finally, after I’ve been calling him for years to challenge this right-to-shelter law, it will finally go before a judge because it was intended for homeless New Yorkers, right, citizens who fell on difficult times, became homeless, to give them shelter, not for individuals who just entered our country last week or citizens of other countries. And of course this will continue to just incentivize individuals to come over our border. That’s exactly what’s going to happen. He says they keep coming. They keep coming because you are giving them free housing.”

Rothkopf: Republicans are 'Running Scared from the Biden Record’
Biden’s age, clearly one poll after another shows that voters are concerned about an 80-year-old running for president. If you were advising the White House, how would you advise them to tackle this issue?
>> Well, I would advise them to tackle exactly as they have. Joe Biden said, look, this is my age. You have to evaluate it for yourself. But, don’t look at him in terms of one dimension. Evaluate it in terms of how much he has gotten done, evaluate in term of how healthy he is versus other presidents. Evaluate his age and fitness versus the candidates he’s actually running against. Evaluate it against the quality of his team, the people around him. Some of them are much, much younger. Some of them – it’s the most diverse administration in American history. It’s extremely competent. It is working together extremely well. The presidency is not a one-man job. It’s kind of a corporate job. And he’s succeeding in that regard. So, you know, I think Biden is saying, look at the facts. Look at the truth. Look at what I’ve got done. Don’t look at it one dimensionally. And the other side is saying, hey, look over here at trans athletes and swim meets. It’s just not an issue. That’s because they’re running scared from the Biden record.

The 'Woke' Military, DeSantis Polling, and Fighting Back - Trump Hannity Town Hall
TRUMP: "We did a lot. You know, our military is great. A lot of things going on with our military with the woke and all this nonsense, they’re not learning to fight and protect us from some very bad people. They want to go woke. They want to go woke. That’s all they talk about now. I see letters that are being sent. It’s horrible. I mean it’s a serious — that would end immediately."
I really go after the one who’s second and I think the one who’s second has gone down so much and so rapidly that I don’t think he’s going to be second that much longer I think he’s going to be third or fourth. He had a very bad day today, he got very angry at the press. You’re not allowed to get angry at the press.
[Laughter]
TRUMP: at the fake news he got angry.
HANNITY: "...the argument that they make to me is, ‘If he would just tone it down a hair, stop a little of the name calling...’
(Audience booing)
Hang on. I said it’s their question. Leave me alone. That it might help you with swing voters that are needed for you to get over the finish line. It’s already hard enough electoral vote-wise for a Republican to win. What do you say to them?”
TRUMP: “Okay, you ready? And I say this to everybody. I won an election that was unprecedented. We beat somebody that supposedly had it made and, you know, they probably did things in that election, too, they were shocked. But I came into office, and from the day I got in, I was under siege by people that have been in Washington for many years, put in there by many different presidents, in most cases people that were against me. Like, they spied on my campaign. They did all sorts of things. I was under investigation and under siege, and so were my people. And if I wasn’t tough, I wouldn’t be here right now, I guarantee you that. If I didn’t fight back, I wouldn’t be here."

Schumer: Debt Bill ‘Beat Back the Worst of the Republican Agenda’
Schumer: “Overwhelming majority of Senate Democrats voted for the bill. A majority of Republicans voted against it. And it’s not just how Democrats carried the bill to the finish line, but why. Why did we get more votes? We got more votes because the bill beat back the worst of the Republican agenda. This exercise was a — basically, this was an exercise in where the American people were at, and they are much closer to where we are than where they are. Of course, nobody got everything they wanted. There was give on both sides. But this agreement was a very good outcome because it accomplished three extremely important goals. First and foremost, we prevented a catastrophic default that would have decimated our economy, raised cost, and inflicted immense unnecessary pain on tens and tens and tens of millions of American families. Second, the bill preserves the lion’s share of the historic investments we have made to grow our economy, fix our infrastructure, make the U.S. more competitive on the world stage — which the Republican caucus in the House seemed intent on tearing down. They didn’t get to do that. And third, and very importantly, we did a very good job of taking the worst parts of the Republican plan that would have hurt so many families and we took those worst parts off the table. Let me say it again. Tonight’s vote is a good outcome because Democrats did a very good job taking the worst parts of the Republican plan off the table. And that’s why Dems voted overwhelmingly for this bill, while Republicans, certainly in the Senate, did not. Remember what House Republicans originally wanted when they showed us their plan, and compare it to the bill we are now sending to the president’s desk. The difference is as stark as night and day. Republicans want to gut investments we made in the IRA, the Inflation Reduction Act, that are driving a new generation of American manufacturing, billions of and billions of investments and thousands upon thousands of jobs. We fought and fought. That ain’t happening. The hard-right MAGA Republicans wanted to cut critical investments by as much as 30%, cut all these vital programs by 30%. As we say in Brooklyn, NFW. That ain’t happening. Republicans wanted to put default back on the table in a few months. That ain’t happening.”

Dem Rep. Bowman: ‘We Need to Stop Drilling for Fossil Fuels Completely’
Another major problem is the Joe Manchin pipeline that we fought so hard to stop from being built, that is still a part of this bill. And what’s problematic about that is, number one, we need to stop drilling for fossil fuels completely. But number two, we need an expedited way to get us to clean, renewable energy or we will continue to have these severe weather events that we have been having for quite some time because of the warming of the planet. And then, finally, the work requirement piece has expanded to those receiving SNAP from age 49 to 50, to 54. Again, we’re talking about the most vulnerable Americans who are already living in abject poverty.”

Rep. Chip Roy on Proposed Debt-Ceiling Deal: ‘The Government Is 40% Bigger than It Was Pre-Covid’
Mike Emanuel: "The deadline according to Treasury Secretary is Monday. That doesn't give you much time."
ROY: Yeah. I mean, they should have thought about that before 104 days went by where Joe Biden didn’t do anything at all and a deal cut going into memorial day weekend without all of us around the table deciding whether this was in the best interest of the United States of America. Just because the swamp is flawed doesn’t mean the average hardworking American should take it on the chin. Why should they accept that we should pass right now. Sweep the Covid money. Sweep the IRS money that was to expand the IRS to go after the American people three to five times more going after minorities and hardworking Americans who are poorer than the wealthy and non-minorities. Why Don’t We take that money. Give Janet Yellen what she needs for breathing room in June and July and pass a responsible debt ceiling increase. I know the “Wall Street Journal” is editorializing in favor of it. Again I know why. They are looking at that time it in terms of these check the box wins. Look at the curve. The American people now, the government is 40% bigger than it was pre-covid. Let’s go back to pre-covid levels of spending. That’s what we asked for. We are not. This deal doesn’t do that.

Why Are Target and Kohl's So Woke? It's ESG! Just Follow The Money!
Target and Kohl's have continued to push gender ideology on children, offering kids clothes with slogans and iconography that are questionable. And, in the case of Target, offering swimsuits to children that allow for "tucking."
Boycotts are happening. But these companies do not seem bothered or worried. Why is that? The answer to most things is "follow the money." And it could be that ESG is making sure these companies make plenty of cash. If the investor is spending, maybe the customer doesn't matter anymore.
Tony Katz takes a look at why Target and Kohl's are acting this way.

Rep. Barr: Biden ‘Has Been Missing in Action for the Last 6 Months’ on Debt Ceiling
BARR: “We don’t have a — a revenue problem, we have an overspending problem in Washington. I believe that there has been some modest progress made in the discussions. I did talk to my colleague Garret Graves this morning and negotiations have been moving forward over the — over the — the evening last night. But the fact remains that after House and Senate Democrats and President Biden increased the nation’s spending trajectory by $10 trillion over the first two years of the Biden Administration, the president has been missing in action for the last six months on these discussions related to avoiding a default.”

Morning Joe Panel Confused by DeSantis Twitter Spaces Presidential Announcement
JORDAN: “... seems to make no sense. Because first of all, why do you share your big moment with a huge, powerful billionaire who’s arguably more famous and has more name ID than you do? And then second, you’re on this platform that’s diminishing in its popularity, and also its reach. Maybe political journalists talk about it.”
GEIST: “Right.”
JORDAN: “Maybe the far right elites talk about it. But Twitter is a diminishing force these days. And you’ve seen how Three Elon everything he touches can — you know, he does well, when he’s engineering in his Tesla, but with Twitter, you’ve seen how he doesn’t mind just casually tossing a couple of billion dollars or multiple billion dollars. And so you’ve got this volatile actor that you’ve given so much power for your big moment, it just really makes sense.”
GEIST: “Well, in many ways, John, since he took over Twitter, Elon Musk has become a hero to conservatives because they feel like their voices were silenced on social media, at least on Twitter, and he’s given their platform back, at least to share some of that space. Maybe a shot across the bow of Donald Trump, I got the richest most famous guy on my side, we know that Elon Musk is kind of malleable that way, he may decide to like somebody else tomorrow. What do you make of the platform in the way that Ron DeSantis finally is rolling out the campaign.”
LEMIRE: “I mean it’s another sign of where Musk’s political ideologies lie, even though he said he wanted Twitter — he wanted to be independent, nonpartisan. Here he is siding himself with one of the heavyweights in the Republican Party. I think it is interesting also that it shows his influence and it’s maybe it’s DeSantis’ snubbing Fox News by saying, ‘Hey, let’s do this on Twitter,’ as opposed to talking to them. I’m going to go the other way up from Charlie Sykes though. I think the tonight at 5:59 P.M. is probably Donald Trump’s first tweet back, try to steal some of that thunder. But Katty Kay, one thing — this is — undeniably, it’s an unusual way to announce a campaign.”

Sen. Ted Cruz Breaks Down Biden, Congressional Democrats’ ‘Spending Binge’
Cruz: “You know, given ‘Squawk Box’ gets into the numbers, I think it’s worth pausing for a second and reflecting at how different this is from the past. So, 2017, total federal spending was about $4 trillion. Total federal tax revenue was about $3.3 trillion. Now, quick math, that means we had about a $700 million deficit. That was 2017. Fast forward to today. Total spending has gone from $4 trillion up to $6.5 trillion, $6.4 trillion. Tax revenues have exploded. Tax revenues have gone from $3.3 trillion to $4.8 trillion. Now, quick pause to note, when we signed the 2017 tax cuts that I fought very hard to pass, every Democrat went on TV and said this going to slash federal revenues and blow up the deficits. Turns out they were entirely wrong on that. Every year, federal tax revenues have gone up, and they have gone up from $3.3 trillion to $4.8 trillion. The problem isn’t tax revenues. The problem is we had a spending binge from the Democrats that has caused the national debt to go from $20 billion to — $20 trillion, rather, to $32 trillion.”
