What Happens If You Upload To YouTube For 365 Consecutive Days??
Since I launched this channel in 2017, I have worked hard to continue to evolve, grow, develop, and improve what this channel is all about. From different cameras, b-rolls, and the types of videos that we do, I'm constantly experimenting and trying new things. One strategy I have been utilizing for the past year has been to post a YouTube Short every single day since October 2nd, 2022. My goal: post 365 consecutive days of videos. I mean, what would happen if I posted a YouTube video every single day for a full year? Well, over the past year, that has been a goal I've been focusing on, to post a YouTube Short every day for a year. Beginning on October 2, 2022, the journey began. And now, 1 year later, I'm amazed that I can say We Did It! We Actually Uploaded To YouTube For 365 Consecutive Days
When YouTube launched the Shorts platform, I jumped on board fairly early. I utilized Shorts to bring news, game pickups, and other content to the channel that didn't necessarily warrant a full-length video. In October 2022 I was invited to partake and what YouTube called a Sprint, a focus on content creation on the platform. From October the 2nd 2022 to November the 1st 2022 The plan was to post a YouTube Short every day and tag those videos with the hashtag Shorts30. One of the challenges for me during this period was that we went down to Florida for a family vacation again to Walt Disney World, so how would I manage to hit the school? Well, I actually did it, and I was able to share part of my family vacation through YouTube Shorts. Once the month was complete I was thrilled and did not plan to continue to do it. That is, until I did.
They say something becomes a habit if you can do it for 28 consecutive days, and for me creating a YouTube Short every day had just become a habit over the course of October. This is something that I just continued into November. November continued into December, And before I knew it I was at the end of 2022. At the end of each year, I like to create goals for myself and the channel to make sure that I am not only keeping myself accountable but that I'm not just going through the motions. One of the goals that I had come up with was that I was going to post one new video, specifically a YouTube Short, every day. I didn't know what happens to your channel if you upload to YouTube for 365 consecutive days, so I decided to do it. Would I take off in the YouTube Algorithm? Would I ruin my channel in the algorithm? Would Al Gore come out with bad rhythm as ManBearPig? Sometimes I feel like I just wish someone could just explain the YouTube Algorithm to me, I mean it is 2023 after all!
Over the course of the last year, there have been some sicknesses, injuries, equipment failures, and other life events that made it difficult for me to accomplish my goal. Difficult, but not impossible. Now looking back, there are times I probably could have taken a day or three off and not posted a Short, but in the end, I decided to push through and do it anyway. I have had some Shorts that have performed amazingly well, my most popular video on the channel has over half a million views and is a YouTube Short. I've also created some Shorts I thought would have done great but have not done well at all. You live and you learn what can I say.
In the last year I've definitely learned a few things. I've learned what our community does and does not want to see. I've also been able to share some behind-the-scenes views with people in my life and my family which otherwise would not make a good typical video. But it's one of those things that I've been able to share with each and every one of you over the past 365 days.
So while I have posted a video every day over the last year, I do think it has come at an expense. Producing so many Shorts eight into the time for me to produce regular videos, so I've produced less of those over the last year. I'm going to change that. I've also become fairly burned out by posting 365 consecutive days of videos. I'm going to change that as well. But overall I think I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment that I was able to set this goal and achieve it.
So am I going to do moving forward? Well, I'm still going to create YouTube Shorts, just not as many of them. I will return to my more traditional posting cadence of full-length videos three times a week and YouTube Shorts two to three times a week. I think that's something that you, or the audience, will appreciate and it will allow me to take a day off from time to time.
What do you think of what we've been able to accomplish here? Do you have a favorite YouTube Short that we've produced? Let me know down in the comments, and thank you all for your love, viewership, and support over the past 12 months.

Confidential?! Top Secret?!? What is THIS THING For the OG Xbox?!?
We just got a box labeled Confidential?! And Top Secret?!? What could it be? Well, it is from Eon Gaming and it's Designed for the Original OG Xbox.
What do you do if you want to connect your original Xbox to your TV via HDMI? And what if you wanted to have a LAN party with original Xbox hardware? Well, towards the end of May 2023, the team over at Eon Gaming announced a new addition to their product lineup. They are calling it the XBHD, and it has a number of interesting features.
One of the challenges with the original Xbox is the fact that you can't tap right into it and get an HDMI output. You have your multi connector which can output composite, component, and S video. Well, it appears that Eon Gaming is tapping into this port and providing you with an HDMI output. According to their own specs, it will output anywhere from 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i resolutions. This tells me that there is no line multiplication going on here. Unlike something like a RetroTink 2x or RetroTink 5x, what you see is kind of what you get.
It seems like, connecting to your television, The XBHD is more an adapter of convenience than any actual video improvement. Now, this does feature twin HDMI outputs, so you can connect one Xbox to two different TVs to be able to have multiplayer fighting games for example, and each player gets their own television. I don't see the appeal to that, but at the same time, I'm not the biggest Xbox fan either.
Another interesting feature of the XBHD is the integrated LAN adapter and ethernet ports. It appears to feature three different LAN connection ports so you can go ahead and get your LAN party started. Interesting in theory, but in 2023 are LAN parties with original Xbox hardware that common? I don't know the answer to that question. I would think that if you would want to have the equivalent of an Xbox LAN party you would use either an Xbox 360, Xbox One or Xbox Series S or X and connect over the internet. A LAN party requires you to be in the same room, and is anyone really lugging around an original Xbox anymore? I don't know.
One interesting addition is an integrated 3.5mm MiniTOSLINK connector for audio. This is a very generational appropriate connector, but audio and video are both handled by HDMI so I don't know that there's a specific need for this.
In the end, for $190 I am not sure what market needs this is serving. I applaud Eon Gaming for doing something different, and I'm glad to see more love going to more retro hardware. I just don't know where this fits into the landscape of things. When you have the Xbox2HDMI adapter from Shepherd Electronics and things like these Xedusa from the Behar Bros that will get you to an HDMI connector for a fraction of the cost, it prices itself out of the market. I don't think going to HDMI is going to be the big winning feature here, I honestly think this is something that people who are going to set up and host land parties will get the most benefit from.

A $100 Switch Lite With Super Mario Bros U Deluxe? WUT?!?
I'm always looking for a deal or an angle if I can find it. What can I say, my old man instilled the importance of getting a great deal! Well, my youngest daughter has taken to have an appreciation for video games, specifically Mario Kart and Animal Crossing. She continues to play on my wife's Animal Crossing island and moves stuff around. I had considered getting her a Switch Lite to play but just didn't want to spend $200 and another $60 on a 4-year-old. Then I discovered a Facebook Marketplace ad for something that could potentially suit my needs.
The listing was for a blue Swutch Lite and a copy of Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, with the box for the system but no case for the game. The listing had been revised down, from $160 to $120. This was a good deal for sure, but could I do better. I reached out to the seller to see what we could do:
Me - Any flexibility on price? Would you do $100?
Seller - Yeah I can sell it for 100
Me- Would you happen to have the box?
Seller - The box for the switch yes, but no for the game
We made a plan to meet the next afternoon, I checked everything out and it was great. But I knew deep down I didn't want that copy of Mario Bros U Deluxe, we had one. I checked Live Action Games' Website to see if he had any preowned copies of Animal Crossing but he didn't. But our local Disc Replay did, and there was one with a good-looking box for $42. Ok, we're in business I thought. I talked to them to see what they could give me on a loose Mario Bros U Deluxe, and they said $31. Ok, awesome, so with tax I was into this Switch Lite and the copy of Animal Crossing for around $115, right where I wanted to be!
I know for some they'll poo-poo the fact that my 4 year old will be opening a "used" Christmas gift. I don't care, I think she'd going to love it and I am going to enjoy getting her outfitted with a grip and case she'll love. It'll be a good test of her responsibility and if she can handle it. And if she breaks it, well, I have a system I can mod then I guess!!

3 Fantastic Famicom Games That Should Have Been Put on the NES
I have been a fan of collecting games for the Nintendo Famicom for longer than I've had this YouTube Channel. I have often found games that are less expensive for the Japanese counterpart than the USA versions. In addition, there were games released ONLY in Japan that we never got here in the USA. As such what are 3 Fantastic Famicom Games That I Think Should Have Been Put on the NES.
Number 3
Parodius DA!
This is one of the best games on the Famicom and an amazing shooter. If you are a fan of games like Lifeforce and Gradius, you'll love this. It combines many of the best Konami shooters and blends them together for one amazingly fun title. What's great is that it's cute but also challenging. If you can, definitely pick this up!
Number 2
Wai Wai World 2
Much like Parodius Da! Wai Wai World 2 mashes up some of the best action characters, again from Konami, and brings them together in a great action platformer. You get characters from Castlevania, Contra, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, and even Goemon. This is a terrific game and a great overall experience.
Number 1
Kid Dracula / Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun
I love this game so much, and it is fantastic! The first level is basically the entire Castlevania 1 game, and it has a, ahem, unique first-level boss. The music is great, the gameplay is fun, and the art style just works so well. I am thrilled that I have this game complete in the box, and I don't think I paid more than $35 for it.
Have you imported any Japanese Famicom Games? What about Japanese games for other systems? What are some of your favorites? There are more than these I love, let me know what your favorites and recommendations are in the comments!

2023 Black Friday Shopping Can Now BEGIN & Get Price Matched LATER!
As of the upload of this video, Black Friday 2023 is only 57 days away! That's crazy to think of, but it's true! I know a lot of people, myself included, will hold off on major purchases until around Black Friday in an attempt to get the best deals possible. Whether you're looking at video games, computers, appliances, or more. For me, My 70" Vizio E70 TV needed replacement due to developing more and more of a blue hue over the years. I've been looking at the TCL Q7 4K QLED HDR Smart TV for some time, and finally decided to pull the trigger, as since I am a My Best Buy member, I get price matching for 60 days! Let's take a closer look on how and why the 2023 Black Friday Shopping Season Can Now Begin, and how you can get price-matched later.
I know this is going to involve some back and forth that not everyone will want to deal with, I get that, but for me this process eliminated my worry. See, this TV sells, normally, for $1400, but it was on sale at the time of this video for $999. A good deal, but I still felt like there was potential for more savings in November. THen I remembered that I am a My Best Buy member and they do offer an extended 60-day return window on most products. Since I am only 57 days out, I am good, so I grabbed the TV I wanted NOW and this way I don't have to skip Thanksgiving dinner and hunker down in a tent to get 1 of 5 doorbuster TV's.
So why the Q7 TV? Well a few reasons. First, the options out there have slimmed for screen size as TVs seem to have eliminated the 70" size and gone to either 65" or 75". My Vizio was a 70" so I didn't want smaller. I also wanted a 120Hz refresh rate, and other TVs didn't offer that. I was also looking at Hisense, and when talking to the store employees they all said the TCLs were better.
Are there any major purchases you're looking to make this Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Let me know what you're gearing up for in the comments!

Is This The Best Sega Genesis Shooter You've NEVER Played?
In this episode we unbox and playtest Glay Lancer from Retro-bit, designed to play on the Sega Genesis, Sega Mega Drive, and compatible systems.
I love the fact that Retro-bit continues to republish games from the past that either I never played, missed out on, or don't have in my collection. They have done amazing work in recent years to expand my collection, especially when the Sega Genesis is concerned. I had a Model 2 Sega Genesis when I was younger, but I didn't keep it very long and ended up going back to the Super Nintendo. For this reason, I ended up missing out on a number of fantastic titles. One such title is Glay Lancer, a horizontal shooter that definitely was not what I expected. Let's take a look and see if this is the best Sega Genesis Shooter You've Never played.
About Gley Lancer:
In 2025, aliens have encroached into our solar system only to be met by the United Earth Federation Navy. It is during this massive battle that Commander Ken Cabrock of the 1st Fleet and the flagship Oberon are attacked and teleported away during a tactical retreat. Lucia, daughter of the Commander, gets the news while aboard the 2nd Fleet and sets out to rescue her father aboard the prototype Busterhawk class fighter, the Gley Lancer. This mission will take Lucia across worlds never seen before and against terrifying odds. Do you have what it takes?
This limited edition re-release includes a number of exciting features. It comes with a slipcover for the case, reversible box artwork, a full-color instruction manual, a unique red-colored cartridge, and a certificate of authenticity. The overall finish and presentation of this is right up there with other limited edition releases that retro-Bit has sent me in the past, and I appreciate them sending me this for purposes of review.
For testing, I used my tried and true JVC X'EYE, which is essentially a Sega CD and a Sega Genesis all in one unit. The beautiful thing is it's also region free so I can play import games on it as well. The boards that Retro-bit uses on their reproduction cartridges are beveled, meaning that they go in and out of your pins without much fuss. I got a very solid cachunk as I inserted the cartridge in the system and got to playing.
Whoa, I did not expect this amazing soundtrack! This thing seriously has amazing bass and overall audio quality! I was also really impressed by the overall graphic display and look of the game too. This thing is beautiful, especially when played through HD retrovision component video cables and my Retrotink 5X. One thing I found out very quickly, however, this game is not easy. But is a fair level of challenge and a ton of fun.
Why It RoX:
- Beautiful audio and visuals
- Super Fun
- Unique "helper ship" options
- Beautiful Package
- Compatible with Genesis and Mega Drive systems, along with 3rd parties
What could be improved?
- Hard as nails
- Limited release
Should you buy one?
I had not played this before shooting this video but man, I was missing out! Gley Lancer is a fantastic game with great visuals and an amazing soundtrack. It's also different from other shooters out there in the mechanics and the way it plays. To me, this is one of the most unique and fun shooters I've played in a long time and I plan on beating the game. It may take me a LONG time, but I definitely want to do it!

This Is Why My New Workplace Is Cooler Than Your Workplace
Work is work, am I right? Like we all work so we can have fun and do things we enjoy more. But what if you could work somewhere that also shared some of what you love to do in your free time? Sure, I used to work for an RC car company and that was a blast. And there was a time when we had a foosball table in the break room. But now every day when I come to the office I get to see things that prove Why My New Workplace Is Cooler Than Your Workplace.
Inside part of our building, we have not one, not two, but three stand-up arcade cabinets. And they're not just Arcade 1Up cabs, oh no, no, no. These are the OGs, the originals, the real deal. We have an original Donkey Kong, and Original The Simpsons Arcade, an original Area 51, and an original 1960s-era pinball machine! And they all work!!
Now I have been very busy since coming aboard, so I have legit not had a chance to try any of these out. But I can say that I was there when both the pinball machine and Area 51 were purchased from the Midwest Gaming Classic in 2021. They all work, and all are beautiful in their own flawed way.
The Area 51 Cabinet could definitely use some degaussing and perhaps a new monitor, and the marquee on the Simpson's Arcade machine is faded as well. The best I can tell the Donkey Kong cabinet is in beautiful shape, from the cabinet itself, the display, the marquee, and everything.
Have you ever worked in some place that had arcade machines in it, I am not talking about at a movie theater or actual arcade either. This is pretty fun and cool, and I think speaks to exactly why I decided to join this particular company. Look for more soon, and I can't wait to share more from the future.
And yes, this does mean I hope to be at more video game conventions in the future!!

Are the Analogue Pocket Limited Editions Just a Money Grab?!?
When it comes to making some of the most sought after and high demand video game systems, few companies pump up demand like Analogue. Part of the reason for the demand is the fact that they do have a quality product. They also inflate demand by not nearly manufacturing enough of a certain system. Well, they are at it again and just announced color variants of the Analogue Pocket. It leaves us scratching our head and wondering is this just a money grab?
A little bit about the Analogue Pocket and what it is. Basically what it is can be described as a Game Boy-sized handheld video game system that plays a multitude of cartridges from different platforms. Out of the box it will play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and you can get additional adapters to play systems like the Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx, and TurboExpress/TurboGrafx 16 games.
So while this seems good on the surface the issue is they have not been able to meet the demand for their two core black or white Analogue Pocket systems. And here they make the situation worse by announcing they are going to be offering an extremely limited number of color variants in transparent cases. It makes me wonder why not just produce these to fit and fill the existing demand? Why alienate your existing customer base by not delivering products they've already ordered yet delivering products that nobody seemed to ask for? All while charging a $30 premium?
I think the market is starting to turn a little bit on Analogue. Part of the reason I say that is you can still order an Analogue Duo which plays the TurboGrafx, PC Engine, Core Grafx, and the corosponding CD games. This is about to start shipping and you can still order one. Yes, those are niche systems, but Analogue also increased the price and fudged some of the features.
What do you think of this? Do you own a analog system? Share your feelings in the comments.

Do You Still Play Your NES Classic Edition IN 2023?
Nintendo has always been an interesting company. They seem to focus more on the future and what's next versus looking back and appreciating their past and their legacy. One of the rare times they did actually celebrate their past was with the release of the NES Classic Edition in 2017. This was the first time Nintendo had done anything along these lines, I mean an emulator, FROM NINTENDO, to play classic NES Games? Well they did it, and people sure bought them in droves. But recently it got me thinking that with all the money people paid scalpers, do you stil play the NES Classic any longer in 2023?
I, for one, haven't powered up my NES Classic in years. I don't think I've even connected it since we bought our new house 2 years ago! I loved this system at the time, and the later SNES Classic, but in recent years it just hasn't hit the mark for my needs. It's still an interesting system, and everytime I play It I have fun, so what keeps me from playing it?
3 - I have the Games on the NES
Between 2017 and today my NES Collection has blown up! I own 25 of the 30 games on the system, and the other 5 I have 0 interest in! I can also play these in 720P HD thru my HDMI-Modded NES, so I get that benefit too.
2 - Poor Performance
I didn't notice this initially, but the more I played the NES Classic the more I noticed the lag inherent in the system. Some games play OK, and a lot depends on your TV, but games like PUNCH OUT are borderline unplayable. This is something Nintendo really should have gotten right.
1 - The Nintendo Switch
I have to say one of the reasons I don't play my NES Classic any longer is because of Nintendo themselves! The Switch ONLINE offers just about all the same games as the NES Classic, but with improved lag, latency, and overall performance. The Switch has completely replaced the NES and SNES Classic in my living room, and I'm not upset by it at all.
Let me know if you still play your NES Classic. Have you experienced any of the lag, latency, or other gameplay issues that have plagued the system over the years?

Hyperkin RetroN FPGA Teased At TGS 2023 | MiSTer Competitor?
The 2023 Tokyo Game Show is currently going on and Hyperkin Japan has teased something very interesting that the amazing Muramasa Entertainment shared on Twitter/X. It appears that Hyperkin is developing an FPGA-based clone hardware solution as they had it on display at TGS 2023. Is the Retron FPGA a MiSTer competitor?
Translation from the original Post on X:
Also on display as a reference exhibit is the Hyperkin retro console series, ``RETRON FPGA,'' which has a world-class cumulative shipment volume. Please experience the next generation retro console that uses FPGA technology, which is not emulation technology but is still rare in the Japanese game market. #TGS2023 #hyperkin
So what does it mean and what is a MiSTer anyways? The MiSTer is an open-source piece of hardware designed to emulate and recreate the performance of classic home and arcade video game systems. MiSTer runs on an FPGA, or Field Programmable Gate Array, basically, a technology that can be programed to accurately recreate the look and performance of older integrated circuits in an accurate way that also adds features such as HDMI outputs, video upscaling, scanlines, and more.
FPGAs are considered to be some of the highest quality performers when it comes to recreating old hardware in the video game space. Systems such as the Retro USB AVS and the Analogue NT use FPGAs to deliver fantastic results.
In the end, how much of deal is it that Hyperkin is getting into the FPGA arena? Will you purchase one? What systems are you hoping to run on something like this? And what other TGS 2023 announcements from the Tokyo Games Show are you most interested in? Let me know in the comments!

1Upcard Game Boy System Cleaner Cleans the Evercade VS?!?
Who doesn't love the Evercade system and the games? It is bringing back some of the best and most loved retro and homebrew video games to audiences in a physical, cartridge form for people to love and cherish all over again. If we have learned one thing over the years, however, it is that if you take care of your systems and games, they will last longer into the future. We have been huge fans of 1Upcard system and game cleaners over the years, so much so that I now am part of the company. When looking at the system and the games one day we noticed how similar the Evercade cartridge shape is to that of Game Boy cartridges. Then we thought we needed to test whether the 1Upcard Game Boy System Cleaner Cleans the Evercade VS home console, and I think the results will surprise you.
If you are unfamiliar with them, 1Up system cleaners are designed to be inserted and removed from your system and use a cleaning surface to remove built-up dirt, gunk, corrosion, and other not-so-good stuff from your system's pins. Before I grabbed a Game Boy system cleaner, I first grabbed my copy of Motocross Maniacs I just recently bought at the Utah Retro Game Swap. Upon trying it in the slot I was floored to discover that it fit in the Evercade VS! OK, now this was promising! Next, I grabbed the 1Upcard Game Boy system cleaner and, to my shock, this worked as well! When I looked at the edge of the cleaning material I was impressed to see the 1Upcard did remove some dirt from my pins! This goes to show you that even new systems can get dirty and need to be cleaned!
Next, I grabbed a 1Upcard Cleaning Card Mini. I love these things, the fit in everything and they don't leave lint or fuzz behind like a cotton swab will. I put a little cleaning fluid on the wet side, inserted it into the cartridge and, once again, I was happy to discover that it cleaned my Evercade cartridge perfectly as well!
We are working on adding compatibility for the Evercade VS to the product page descriptions of the system cleaner and the Mini Cleaning Cards. We don't have a handheld system to test at this time, but we'll test that soon.

This is SO CRAZY AND INTENSE!! OUR FIRST F-Zero 99 Race!
When Nintendo announced F-Zero 99 for the Nintendo Switch, I know a lot of people were disappointed. The series has been missing since the Gamecube era, and it is a beloved franchise. Many people were hoping, and leaks seemed to indicate, that we were going to get a new F-Zero Game announced in the September 2023 Nintendo Direct. Instead, they announced F-Zero 99, a battle royale game similar to Mario 99 or Tetris 99. Would this be lame? Would it be awesome? Well, let's just say this is so crazy and intense. Let's take a look at our first F-Zero 99 Race experience.
Before you can play online you have to go through a few different tutorials, first against 25 cars, then 50, and finally 99 against computer opponents. I was able to win the first two races and finished 3rd in the final one. With these training wheels out of the way it was time to sit down, strap in, and hang on!
From the start, I was behind the 8-ball as I got a terrible start and did not get going well. I also picked the car with the worst acceleration and best top speed, so it took me forever to get up and moving. I was in 99th, welp!
After a few corners, I was up to 97th, then 92nd, 89th, and higher. With so many cars on track, it was hard not to bounce off of competitors and take damage. On the 3rd lap I managed to get the secret passage above the regular track and pass a ton of competitors. I was finally moving up. Until I wasn't.
I kept bouncing into other cars and into the walls, which caused me more and more damage. Then, I bounced one time too many and BOOM, my car exploded while I had just moved into the top-60. I was bummed but also determined to play more and get better.
I can see the appeal of F-Zero 99! It's absolutely crazy, crazy awesome that is! Would I have preferred a traditional F-Zero game? Well yeah. The series deserves it, and Nintendo has removed these 99 games after some time. I'm going to be bummed when this is gone, but I will play and love it while it is still here!

The Best Wireless NES Controller Retro Bit Origin8
In this episode, we unbox and test out the ORIGIN8 wireless controllers from Retro-bit, designed for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Switch, and other USB-compatible devices.
When it comes to the original Nintendo Entertainment System finding good wireless controllers, first or third-party, has been a bit of a challenge over the years. Back in the day, we were stuck with crappy, infrared solutions that really did not work well. In recent years there have been a few good controllers here and there, but there again few and far between. I was very excited to hear Retro-bit was working on a new addition to their Platinum series of controllers called the ORIGIN8.
Featuring three different designs and styles, the ORIGIN8 comes out of the box with the controller itself, a USB dongle, a dongle for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, a USB-C charging cable, and instructions. It also has additional features such as ZL and ZR buttons, L and R buttons, and turbo functionality for A and B. Overall this is well put together and has some really nice additional features.
After my initial unboxing, I did charge the ORIGIN8 for about 2 hours before I got to testing. Pairing could not have been simpler as I simply pressed the pairing button on the dongle, hit the start button, and within a few seconds, I was paired. I experienced this with both the original Nintendo dongle and the USB one.
Starting on the original Nintendo Entertainment System, the ORIGIN8 felt fantastic. While it is considerably lighter in the hands than the original equipment, it still feels good while you play. One of the things I did not know was how I was going to like the larger d-pad compared to The original NES controller, but it worked just fine. One of the great things is the fact that this falls underneath Retro-bit's platinum series of controllers, it uses better quality materials, buttons, and construction and it can be felt during gameplay.
I have to say I really appreciated the Turbo switches on the A and B buttons, it reminded me so much of the TurboGrafx16 controllers. If and when I wanted to use the turbo I just needed to slide the switch up, and when I was done sliding it back down turned the turbo off. It couldn't have been much easier. The one thing I will say is that I do wish that there was a 2nd, faster turbo, similar to the TG16, but for what it was this was fantastic.
I did attempt to use the ORIGIN8 with my Xbox One S, Xbox Series S, and my Wii U, but none of them would respond or connect to inputs. This was a bummer as it would have been great to use with the Wii U's Virtual Console or some of the NES-era games that are now on the Xbox.
My final tests were on the Nintendo Switch OLED using the NES, Famicom, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance services. I connected the dongle to one of the USB Ports on the side and was up and running. Man, this thing was fantastic! for all the above systems button presses were spot on, it had great range and battery life, overall this was a terrific experience!
Why It RoX:
- Only $25
- 3 different color options
- USB C for charging
- Fantastic battery life
- Turbo functionality
- Excellent performance
What could be improved:
- 2 turbo steps like the TurboGrafx would be nice
- Not compatible with Wii U or Xbox
Should you buy one?
This is one of the most resounding "YES" responses you'll get from me! Retro-bit has knocked this one totally out of the ballpark and this is going to be my go-to wireless NES Controller, hands-down. It performs so well, it is so comfortable, and it just works, all the things you want with a controller for gaming. One of my only 2 real nitpicks is that it's not compatible with more systems as I'd like to use it on the Wii U and Xbox, but I can live. For the money this is a fantastic controller and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Christmas Shopping? Don't Buy This Nintendo Switch Mario Kart Bundle!
I hate when customers get taken advantage of during peak gift-giving season, and it seems like the world of video games has some of the worst offenders. It's not even October and I just received what I can only think will be the first of many Nintendo Switch Combo emails. This one came from Gamestop, and to be honest, if you are Christmas Shopping I need to tell you this: DON'T BUY THIS NINTENDO SWITCH MARIO KART BUNDLE! Here's what the bundle has in it:
- Nintendo Switch Console
- Nintendo Switch Dock
- Joy-Con (L) Neon Blue
- Joy-Con (R) Neon Red
- Joy-Con Wrist Straps
- Joy-Con Grip
- High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch AC Adapter
- Free Download Code for the full Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game
- Free Redemption Code for a 3-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership
For $299.99, this isn't a great deal. First of all, this is the original Nintendo Switch Model, it is NOT the Switch OLED. That means you have an LCD and not OLED display, less onboard storage, worse handheld audio, a smaller screen, and a flimsier kickstand. If using the Switch in handheld mode at all is essential to you, this is the vastly inferior version of the console.
So who would this system be okay for, it's not a complete waste, it's just not a terrific value. If you plan on playing the system docked 95% of the time, this is an okay deal as the added benefits of the larger OLED display, enhanced audio, and improved kickstand won't mean much. Also, the dock omits an ethernet port for an extra USB port, so if you're only on WiFi that's a benefit too. Also if you don't have a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and need one, or a system for another person in your household it's an ok but not fantastic deal.
There are more combos to be hitting store shelves as we get closer to the holidays and Black Friday shopping. For now, I'd say this is worth passing on as I think we'll see better deals as we get later in the year.

We Designed & 3D Printed A HUGE GAME BOY GAME STAND!
One of the things I have really come to enjoy about 3D printing has been creating storage solutions for different video games and gaming systems. When I first got my 3D printer, I didn't have a ton of Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Gameboy Advance games. That's changed in the years since and I now have a pretty decent collection. With that, I designed and printed eight, 16, and 32 game holders. I've also offered, but never printed, an 80-game holder which someone just ordered from my website. Let's take a look.
I originally designed this print for @megadan29 who asked me over a year ago if I could create something this large. I told him I could, and showed him the design, yet the turkey still has not ordered one from me. What's going on Dan? Anyways, the 80-count holder is simply an extrapolation of my eight-count holder, modified and tweaked to add each additional row. What I like about my design, besides the fact that it's mine, is the fact that you can see the labels somewhat behind each cartridge without having to entirely remove each game from the rack. It also has the Game Boy logo on the face of it.
This print took almost 18 hours to complete on my Bambu Labs P1S. One cool thing is that the printer actually does time-lapse videos as it prints, so I will eventually post that video here on YouTube for everyone to see. It's truly amazing to see something come out of nothing.
How do you store your loose Game Boy, Gameboy Color, and Game Boy Advance games? Would something like this suit your needs? Let me know in the comments below.

Video Games! Toys! Transformers! Star Wars! 2023 Utah Retro Game Swap
In this episode, we share our experiences from attending the 2023 Utah Retro Gaming Expo where we We Re-Bought Part Of Our Childhood collection, and something we haven't owned in over 30 years.
While I have attended a number of video game conventions in the Midwest, along with the Southeast Game Exchange, that's pretty much been the extent of my travel for the YouTube channel. That is until September 2023 when I was invited to set up a table and host a panel at the Utah Retro Gaming Expo. Hosted by Minus World Games based in Layton Utah, about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City, this is my first time to a game convention this far west.
Friday was my travel day, and it was interesting because it was also my last day at my old job. I packed up my office, headed home to grab the rest of my stuff, and drove two and a half hours north to Chicago to fly out. This meant that I wouldn't get into Salt Lake City until almost midnight local time, and by the time I got there and got my rental car picked up everybody had either hit the bars or hit the sack for the night.
I brought a number of items with me for my 3D printer store to sell, including my latest prints featuring the Game Boy, Famicom Disk System, GameCube, and Legend of Zelda LED lights. I also brought some of my staples including my Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega, Xbox, and Dreamcast lights.
This was the first year they had invited guests to be a part of the show, and in addition to me, my good friend John Riggs was to my right most of the weekend, and Ryan from Archades games was to my left. John had his homebrew games and other items for sale, well Ryan was showing people how to dump the ROMs from their existing cartridges and use emulators to play them through a soft modded Xbox Series S.
I tend to plan out my panels pretty specifically before I go to a convention. I know what I'm going to say. This convention was all a bit different because Ryan and I really didn't have a chance to touch base ahead of time so we just riffed for about an hour. We talked about everything from different controllers, YouTube issues, and just the general gaming community. We both had fun and it was good to spend time with him and kind of get to know each other a little bit better in front of everybody else.
Once the panel was over, I decided to take a little bit of time and walk the floor. My youngest daughter had wanted me to see if I could find her a Princess Daisy or Princess Peach stuffy, and I thought I saw one when I got in first thing in the morning, but when I went back it was gone. I was extremely shocked to see the amount of toys at this show. And classic toys too from Transformers, Star Wars, and Star Trek. We're talking about the original 1980s-era TIE fighter and Millennium Falcon were here. Optimus Prime, Megatron, the Protectobots, Technobots, there was a lot of stuff here. I actually saw two that I had to pick up, the first being a Mail-In exclusive named Power Dasher. I had this as a kid, I remember my excitement getting it, and I love the fact that it's back in my collection. I also picked up a Metroplex that was nowhere near complete, but I plan on 3D printing replacement parts and pieces.
There are a lot of import games at this convention, something I love to see. One vendor actually had quite a few boxed import N64 games and they looked terrific. One in particular caught my eye, however. Mischief Makers is a pretty expensive US game, but he had $40 on it, marked down from $50. I offered him $30, he fired back with $35 and I accepted.
My final pick up of the weekend is completely due to Jay over at @YTSquarePegs. He had recently featured Motocross Madness for the original Game Boy and it reminded me of how much I loved that game as a kid. That was actually the one game I was on the lookout for at the show. I couldn't find a US version, but one table did have a Japanese version, and the only wanted six bucks for it. I offered him five and we sealed the deal.
Once we packed up the show for the night, I headed out to dinner with Daniel Pesina, his brother Carlos, Tim Kitzrow, Paul Niemeyer, John, and a friend of Daniel. We had an amazing server who rolled with the punches all night long, and was just generally fun. I can truly say that while I was friendly with the Mortal Kombat guys, Tim, and Paul in the past after the conversations we had that night I truly consider them friends.
This was a terrific convention and I truly believe it has nowhere to go but up. It has lots of floor space, terrific vendors, and really did offer something for everybody. I am very thankful to Tracy and the crew for having me out, and I would love to attend again next year.

We're Looking to Make Our YouTube Videos SUPER LIT In the Future!!
Lighting and audio are two of the biggest issues for Content Creators. Over the years I have tried different cameras, different settings, different lights and more to improve my lighting while filming. The team over at LitONES just sent us their F-616 video conference light and, if initial reactions mean anything, we're going to really make our YouTube videos super lit in the future. Let's take a look.
Key Features:
- CRI>95 + Side-emitting Technology: This technology makes the light glare-free, soft, natural and real, providing a high-quality, comfortable light source for Zoom conferences, live streaming, and other video call conferencing or work from home.
- Flexible Stand: Metal stand adjusts from 10 inches to 18.7 inches, head swivels back and forth, left and right, up and down for 360° illumination. Can be placed behind a laptop, computer, or monitor to save desktop space.
- Super Easy to Use: 10%-100% stepless brightness adjustment and 3000-6500K color temperature adjustment can be realized directly through the line controller, and it also has the memory function of brightness and color temperature.
- Stable Base: The base is made of iron + foam rubber material, the whole design has been experimented by designers for tens of thousands of times, which has the advantages of stability, anti-slip, anti-scratch and not bulky.
- Multiple Application: This light has the advantage of providing a large luminous area like traditional desk lamps, but also has the function of a ring video conference light, so it is suitable for home office, study, but also for all kinds of video conference, zoom meeting, video call, live broadcast, game and other scenes.
Assembly took just a few minutes, I didn't even need the instructions. I clipped on the phone holder, plugged it in and got to testing. I like how this provides very even and consistent lighting, and there are multiple color options you can experiment with. I also appreciate the fact that it's USB powered.

Ranking My Favorite and Least Favorite Non-Nintendo Franchises
Over the years, I have loved most Nintendo Franchises, but there is more out there in the gaming world than just a plumber and his brother from Brooklyn. I've even been known to buy Sega, Microsoft, and Sony hardware! That's right! So as such, what are some of my favorite and least favorite non-Nintendo franchises? Let's rank a few and find out.
Mega Man
Known as Rock Man in Japan, this is one of the few franchises that I own all the games on a specific console, specifically I have all the Rock Man Games on the Famicom. This is a great series with amazing music, a good difficultly level, and each generation builds on the predecessor and makes things better. This is a fantastic series.
Final Fantasy
Part of this comes down to my dislike of turn-based or JRPGs, but I have never been a fan of Final Fantasy. My best friend as a kid, Chris, LOVED RPGs, so I'd sit with him as he played, but I just couldn't get into it. I think it's because with the turn-based mechanic, I felt like I might as well be playing a board game.
MLB The Show
This is one title I buy every year, even if it is just for the roster update. I am a huge baseball fan and The Show has done an amazing job keeping the franchise fresh and new each and every season.
Shenmue
I have just never been able to get into Shenmue, I don't know why. I know my friend Adam Koralik loves the series, I'm just not into it. I've tried a few times and I think for me it's just not something I'll ever get into.
Halo
Part of this is I've never been an Xbox guy. Part is that First Person Shooters aren't my favorite genre, but Master Chief and Halo are something I'll occasionally interact with but I don't go out of my way to play.
Yooka Laylee
The Spiritual Successor to Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country, Yooka and Laylee are amazing characters that Feel like old friends, even though the series is less than 7 years old.
Minecraft
I. Do. NOT. Get. The. Appeal!
Ratchet & Clank
You had to know this was making the list. I love this warbot and Lombax, and this is probably my favorite series next to Mario. They're well-written, funny, and the games are all terrific. These games are always Day-1 Purchases for me.
What about you? What are your favorite or least favorite Non-Nintendo Franchises?

Cut the CORD! Are These the ULTIMATE WIRELESS NES Controllers??
We just got a fantastic package from the team at RetroBit, something that I have been looking forward to for some time. They announced in the summer of 2023 that they were coming out with an NES wireless controller, called the Origin8. Available in three different design themes, the one we received is patterned after the Game Boy, and this thing looks awesome.
Order the Origin8 Controllers at https://collabs.shop/w3ztmg
Out of the box, it is of course compatible with the original NES, but it's also compatible with the Nintendo Switch and other USB-compatible devices. The controller comes with two different dongles to accomplish this. In addition, the controller itself has a lot of really cool features built into it. There's a home and capture button to use with a Nintendo Switch, and there are also L & R triggers towards the center of the controller near the charging port. It has very similar button designs to what the original NES had as well, so it looks like it should be a blast to play with.
We will be doing a full-blown unboxing and review, but upon first look, I am absolutely in love. Since this is one of Retro-bit's Platinum series of controllers, that means that this utilizes a higher quality of parts to provide a premium performance. Lag, latency, and delay should all be minimal, and the overall fit and feel of the controller should be excellent as well.
We are super excited to play and test the Origin8, And plan on testing it on clone systems, original hardware, the Nintendo Switch, and I'm also going to try it on my Xbox Series S to see if it works with things such as the Disney afternoon collection. Is this something you would use? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Features and Specs:
- Includes USB® and NES® wireless receivers
- Optimized for NSO's classic libraries
- Compatible with USB®-enabled devices via USB® Receiver
- Compatible with original or 3rd party NES® consoles via NES® Receiver
- Additional ZL and ZR shoulder buttons
- Features Home and Screenshot buttons
- Turbo switches built in for rapid fire for A & B
- 500 mAh battery with USB-C fast charging
- 3ft/1m USB-C to USB charge cable included
- Utilizes the new V2 chip
I don't know about you but I am super excited to see these coming down the pipeline, and for only $25 these look to be a super option! Add in the option to use it on both the Switch and actual NES Hardware, and I am sold. Let me know your thoughts on these in the comments!

Why Switch 2 Won't Be In The September 2023 Nintendo Direct
Everyone seems to be talking and speculating about the Switch Successor, whether it's the Switch 2, Super Switch, or whatever they are going to call it. There was a ton of hype when a Nintendo Direct was leaked

I REGRET NOTHING! We bought a Box of S*^t Games From VGM!
Sometimes, you just need to take a risk when video game hunting. Sometimes you hit the jackpot, sometimes you get crap. Video Games Monthly recently posted that they had some overstocks in-house for handheld systems. We're talking original Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Game Gear, and others. They posted the following on Twitter:
The first 6 members who would like 40 random handheld games for $59.99 plus shipping comment below with "I WANT A BOX OF S**T" or visit our Facebook page for more details.
I'm a sucker for these sorts of things, I mean how bad could it be? Well, I am here to tell you I regret nothing as we bought a box of SH*^T games from VGM.
Initially, there are some decent titles here that just need some TLC, cleaning, and to be played. Games like Double Dragon for the original Game Boy is a great game. Now this copy has a cracked shell, but just to play? Sign me up!! There's also a copy of Croc for the Game Boy Color which looks to be great fun, Double Dribble 5 on 5, and more. There are even games in here for the DS, 3DS and Game Gear which I did not expect.
But then.
Then....
I saw what had to be the ultimate troll from VGM, and it's for the Game Boy Color. It is CIB so there's that, but man, why did you do this to me? They sent me a BOXED copy of NSync: Get to the Show. When I saw Bratz I knew there would be some legit crap in here, but man, I don't know that it gets much worse than that. Is NSync the one with Marky Mark or was that Backstreet Boys? I don't even know.
Make sure you hit the subscribe button as we're going to show you each game in a separate video. This, this could be hilarious and painful.

Game Boy, Super Nintendo, and N64 Games In Our Local GAMESTOP?!?!?!
I know that Gamestop gets a bad rap quite often, and it is frequently deserved. I know the Gamestop in Champaign, IL went from amazing to "When are they going to close" in a very short time. I just recently started a new job in Bloomington, IL, about 50-minutes from Champaign, and while I had shopped there in the past it had been some time. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that there were Game Boy, Super Nintendo, and N64 Games In Our Local GAMESTOP! Let's take a closer look.
Now, Gamestop has had retro games available to order on their website for quite some time. I actually got my hands on a copy of Darkwing Duck several years ago for only $30, and boy was that a steal at the time. I wanted to see if this particular store had any Super Mario plushies as when I was at the Utah retro game swap that is what Ellie Jo wanted me to bring home, and unfortunately I did not see any. While looking around the store, I noticed a number of really neat things, and for the first time in a while at any GameStop I noticed that they had the kiosk set up with 3DS games. Again, it's been a while since I've seen this, but that wasn't as striking as what was at the bottom of the case.
For some time there has been word that GameStop has wanted to get back into retro gaming, getting cartridge based stuff, having the older systems represented in the stores again. Well, this store actually had that. The selection wasn't huge, but there was a Super Nintendo version of Super Empire Strikes back, Tetris for the Game Boy, a Game Boy advanced game, and an N64 game. Again, this isn't a huge selection but the fact that they had anything was really neat to see.
Have you seen any retro video games in your local GameStop in recent months? If so what was it? Share your experience down below as I'm hoping this is something that they will be expanding and rolling out in the near future.

You Can Store Your Switch Games in a BlockBuster VHS Tape Case?!?
If you are of an older generation such as myself, the words "Make it a Blockbuster Night" have a special meaning. It meant you were going to get a movie or game to spend time with friends or family and have a great time. I know I spent many a Friday or Saturday in our local Blockbuster checking out the latest NES, SNES, Genesis, or other video games.
Retro Fighters is tapping into that nostalgia and introducing their Retro Limited Series of products. Their first definitely is something very cool, very retro, and speaks to my generation. It is the Retro Limited Series of Blockbuster VHS Cassette Tapes, but they're scaled down and designed to store and transport your Nintendo Switch cartridges. Let's take a look:
From Retro Fighters:
The Retro Limited Series offers nostalgia-based retro products from decades past that have a very LIMITED production. This new line of Retro Fighters accessories and collectibles is specifically designed for the retro enthusiast. Once these are sold out, they will be gone FOREVER!
Retro Limited Series 1:
Blockbuster VHS Mini Switch Game Case
Transport yourself back to the 80s & 90s with the Blockbuster VHS Switch game case! This unique and nostalgic accessory offers a stylish and practical way to store your Switch games and memory cards. Embrace the nostalgia and make every day a Blockbuster Night!
Key Features:
- Officially licensed Blockbuster® product
- Hold up to 12 Switch games with additional room for 4 memory cards
- Miniaturized Blockbuster rental case and cassette
- Feels and looks like the real thing
- Magnetic safe closure to keep games from falling out
- Easily pop games in and out
- Compact and convenient design
- Soft silicone slots
- Perfect for display or travel
Initial Thoughts:
When Retro Fighters first sent me the images and video for this, I was blown away. I already have and love their Retro 85 case, designed to look like an NES Cartridge which stored smaller NES Cartridges and then in turn held Nintendo Switch Game Cartridges. This has that same sort of appeal but turns it on its ear slightly by replicating the look and feel of a VHS tape, but slightly smaller. I love the fact that they got all the scale details right, from the tape, the spindles the drive motors key into, the spine with "Movie Rental, VHS Cassette", the labels on the tape itself, it all is just, man, chef's kiss awesome.
At only $19.99, the Blockbuster Mini VHS Cassette Switch Game Case looks to be a must-have for anyone old enough to remember going to Blockbuster. The limited-release nature of this makes this something truly special because once they're gone, they're gone. As I stated, I was probably going to pre-order a couple of these, and I just completed the order, putting my money where my mouth is. I think this is super cool and cannot wait to get my hands on them.
What do you think of the Blockbuster® Mini VHS Cassette Switch Game Case from Retro Fighters? What are some of your most fond memories of going to Blockbuster over the years? Share your stories in the comments!
