What Are My MUST-HAVE Features For the Nintendo Switch 2?
There have been many rumors of a successor to the wildly popular Nintendo Switch. Some of those rumors have seen the light of day, just as other systems. The Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED were all rumored at one point to be the unicorn that is the Nintendo Switch 2 or Switch Pro. But other rumors have come out recently that point to a 2024 release of a new piece of hardware from Nintendo. With that being said, what are the 3 must-have features for the Nintendo Switch 2 in my book?
4K & 1080P
I think this is going to be at the top of most people's wish list but I think 4K docked and 1080P in handheld need to be a thing. Nintendo has traditionally underpowered the outputs of their systems, and the fact that 4K isn't an option on the Switch OLED is pretty unforgivable. Even at release not having 4K was an odd choice, but then again HDMI wasn't even a thing for Nintendo until the Wii U!
Larger Display
Getting old sucks, and one thing I have noticed as I am getting closer to 50 is that my eyesight is going. That being said I need a larger display to be able to enjoy handheld mode. For me even the Switch OLED's display is a bit too small, and I just need a larger display. Having a Switch Pro Lite and a Switch Pro might even be a good option, where the Lite would be smaller but still dockable and the pro would have a larger display.
Backward Compatibility
As popular as the Switch has been, having backward compatibility is kind of a must. And I am not just talking about the cartridges. eShop purchases and controllers also need to work forward with the new Switch. Nintendo did this with the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Wii, and Wii U, and they need to do it with the Switch Pro or Switch 2 or whatever they call it.
What are your 3 biggest wish list items for the new Nintendo Switch? Do you think we'll see a new system in 2024? Comment Below!

Super Mario Games I Like vs Don't | These Rankings May Shock You!
When it comes to video games, there's one character that rules them all, and that's Nintendo's Super Mario. As an admitted Nintendo Fanboy, you might be surprised to learn there are some Mario games I just don't like. But then again, some I love might shock you as well. Let's take a look at what games I like vs don't in the Super Mario series.
Super Mario Bros 3
I mean this should never have been a doubt. Super Mario 3 had a fricken movie-length commercial in it! I love this game, from the power-ups, the mini-games, the boss battles, everything just makes this one of the best, not just in the series, but ever.
Super Mario RPG
I've never liked RPGs, and as many times as I have tried to play this game, I just have not gotten into it. I don't like turn-based RPGs, and to me, I don't care about this game. Like at all. To me when this came out it hurt my heart a bit.
Super Mario Odyssey
This is such an epic game on so many levels. It has amazing gameplay, so much replayability, this is just a must-own for me. The quality of this game is so good, and to me it feels like the type of game that I have loved spending so much time in.
Super Mario Sunshine
I've tried this game so many times and its is one of the only times I've been disappointed in a first-line Mario Title. This game is just so different for me from any Mario Platformer, and for me this just doesn't work. Even the remake on the Switch wasn't great.
Wrecking Crew
Many don't realize that Mario is in this, and for me it's just weird. It has aspects of Donkey Kong, but it just doesn't work for me on a few different levels. I own this on the NES but I don't know I've ever spent more than 30 minutes total playing it. It just doesn't work
Super Mario Galaxy:
I love this game for so many different reasons. We have some of the best graphics, best gameplay, and best suits from any Mario Game. Plus the music, my goodness the music of Mario Galaxy is epic!
Mario Kart World Tour
I wanted to like this, I really do, but motion controls on mobile devices suck. This game is so terrible to play, I truly hate it.
Super Mario World
Not only one of my favorite Mario Games, but perhaps my favorite game of all time is Super Mario World. From Yoshi's introduction, the expansion of the gameplay from Super Mario 3, this is the perfect platformer for me.
Do any of these results surprise you? What do you think of these rankings? Let me know in the comments!

Did You Know RC Pro-Am Was Actually on the GENESIS?!?! WHAT?!?!?
Have you ever been shocked to learn that a game that you love was available on a different system and under a different name? This has happened to me a few times, and until Jay over at Square Pegs mentioned it I had no idea that one of my favorite Nintendo Entertainment System games was also made available on the Sega Genesis. That's right, did you know RC Pro-Am was actually also released on the Sega Genesis? Let me introduce you to Championship Pro-Am.
Designed by Rare and published by Tradewest, Championship Pro-Am is an upgraded version of RC Pro-Am. You can still pick up the upgrades, turbo, tires, and top speed, but it all just looks and sounds so much better!
At the end of July 2023, my youngest daughter and I packed up the car and headed west to St Louis Missouri to the MoGameCon. We have gone to this event three times now, it was actually the very first convention that I ever went to after I started this channel. This year the MoGameCon was at a different venue, much smaller due to some issues with the original facility. I went into the show looking for two titles basically, Alien versus Predator for the Atari Jaguar and Sonic 2 for the Sega Master System. I had completely forgotten that I had Championship Pro-Am on my radar.
As luck would have it, one of the organizers of the event actually had a copy at his booth. Not only did he have a copy, but he also had it complete in a box with a pretty good-looking manual. As I mentioned, RC Pro-Am is one of my favorite games of all time, and to be able to get it in a superior graphical delivery such as the Sega Genesis delivers is really exciting to me.
Have you ever run into anything like this? Are there any games that you love on one system and we're surprised to find out it was available on another? Let me know in the comments.

Older Retro Gaming Hardware: Has It Become Irrelevant?
A funny thing happened to me on the way to three recent video game conventions. Well, not exactly on the way but at the shows. See, I set up booths at the Illinois GameCon, Video Game Summit in Chicago, and Southeast Game Exchange all within the last month. While at those shows I sold a ton of stuff. More stuff than I've ever sold before at any shows. But I was surprised at a few items that nobody seemed to have any interest in. That being original NES hardware, N64 hardware, and a clone Famicom with HDMI. It got me thinking, do people care about this hardware anymore? Has Older Retro Gaming Hardware Become Irrelevant?
I talked to a couple other vendors at each of the shows to see what they were seeing for trends. I mentioned my observation to them and pondered whether or not we had reached a tipping point where hardware for these older, cartridge base systems mattered anymore. A few people here and there mention that they were doing okay sales-wise, but most people had the same reaction, they weren't selling older hardware, just software.
I was still seeing software sales to people for multiple systems, from the NES and Famicom, Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Nintendo 64, and on. At the IllinoisGameCon I had one person kind of interested in one of my N64s, but he didn't want to buy the boxed version. Nobody asked me about any of my hardware at Video Game Summit. And at SEGE, only one person asked about any of my hardware, and that was someone who actually bought an N64 from me.
It was bound to happen but I'm kind of surprised it is happening now. Have the days of hardware for the NES, Super Nintendo, Master System, Genesis, and N64 left us in the dust? Are we now to where the Intellivision, ColecoVision, and Atari 2600 have been for quite some time? People still collect the software, but it didn't seem like anybody was interested in hardware.
Let me know what you are seeing, do you still have interest in these products yourself, or have you also moved on to other systems. I will admit, I have these systems so I'm not really looking to buy any for myself. I'm just really surprised that we may already be to this point.

Is This The Best Budget-Friendly Switch Pro Controller Alternative?
In this episode, we unbox & test what could be the best budget option third-party Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the NS32 from Nexigo, featuring Hall effect sensors on the analog sticks.
One of the things the Nintendo Switch is known for is having very poor control sticks on the Joy-Cons. They don't tend to last, they tend to drift, and just generally are not a great experience. The Nintendo Switch Pro controller offers a vastly superior option, however, it too can be prone to drift and is not exactly cheap. What are you to do if you want to have a pro-style controller but don't want to deal with drift down the road? That's where Nexigo looks to fill the need with their NS32 controller.
Available in a number of different colors, this controller has a lot going on under its shell. Behind both analog sticks, face buttons, and d-pad are a series of RGB LED lights to give you additional customization and personalization. To charge the controller, they include a USB-C cable. The overall shape and layout is closer to the Xbox Series S and X than the Nintendo Pro Controller. I feel the grips are a little bit wider, a little bit thicker, and don't have quite the same swoopiness to them.
I charged the controller right out of the box, and after a couple of hours, I got to playing. Well, first I had to pair, which was pretty much painless. I went into the controllers' menu, hit the sync button, hit the L & R bumpers and you're synced! This was a super easy process. Also note, you can actually use this controller wired with the Switch or on Android devices. Pretty neat.
I started out with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I know this wouldn't really put the controller through its paces, but it would be able to test the basics. The analog sticks felt very smooth, I was able to drift just fine using the shoulder triggers, and all of the face buttons worked as intended. While this was a simple test, it was effective.
I didn't capture it, but next, I turned to one of the best beat-ups to come out in recent years, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge. This game is so good and it plays amazingly well across all platforms. The button presses felt great, the analog sticks and d-pad both felt good, and overall this was an excellent experience. I will say that I did appreciate the fact that I could adjust the rumble intensity during gameplay.
One of my go-to test games is always Super Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Edition. It gives me great tests of input lag and delay on both the D-Pad and Analog-stick. On my first go around DeeJay kicked my rear end, but the second time around I was able to take the win. Even though he beat me, I was able to go ahead and pull off all the moves, spinning side kick, the Hadouken,
and the shoryuken. I was really impressed with how well both the D-pad and the analog stick handled these inputs. I was also disappointed in how poorly I played the first time through.
I had very similar results with all the other games that I've played with the NS32. Super Mario 3D World, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Yoshi's Crafted World, MLB The Show 22, and AEW Fight Forever, all just worked beautifully. I even used the turbo to cheat a little bit on Gradius on the NES online and, well, I suck.
Why it RoX:
- Hall effect sensors are extremely precise
- D-pad works really well
- Available in a variety of colors
- Works wirelessly or wired
- Compatible with Android
- RGB lights
- Good battery life
What could be improved:
- Does not wake the system from sleep
- Not compatible with Amiibo
- On sale now but the regular price is still not cheap
- Different ergonomics from Nintendo Pro Controller
Should you buy one?
Nexigo continues to deliver quality products and reasonable prices and make them better from one generation to the next. This is quite possibly the finest controller that they have ever released and if you're looking for a replacement for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or Joy-Cons this is something that should be high on your consideration list. I do wish that it worked with Amiibo and that it would wake your system from sleep. Not waking from sleep, is a super huge annoyance for me. Given the rest of this controller's performance, and the fact that it regularly goes on sale for under $40 makes this one of the best values in controllers for the Switch.

You Gotta Catch Them All! Custom 3D Printed Pokemon Lightbox Design!
I have loved getting involved in 3D printing, and adding 2 Bambu Labs Printers, a P1P and a P1S, to my print farm has really opened up some options. One thing I have wanted to create for some time is a more accurate logo lightbox design to go with my other lights. Well, for starters I think I have something that people will want to catch. A new Custom 3D Printed Pokemon Lightbox.
The Pokemon logo is iconic, and while I could have put it on one of my more traditional lightbox faces I wanted to do something more unique and special. I wanted to make the logo a lightbox. Now, I've seen others do this, and I just didn't like what they did. Not that they were bad, I just thought they looked flat. I wanted something with some depth to it. So I dove into Tinkercad and got to work.
I knew I wanted the logo to come through the face to give it some depth, but that also meant I needed some sort of backer to act not only to diffuse the light but also to keep the letters together. I used a tool to convert a PNG of the Logo into an SVG file, which is what Tinkercad recognizes. From here I had to duplicate, manipulate, extrapolate, trim, cut, and otherwise shape the logo to get what I thought would work.
Once I exported the working file out of Tinkercad I dropped the file into Bambu Studio, the slicing software which will allow me to configure it for use on my P1P or P1S printers. I got to work "painting" the different parts of the lightbox, which basically tells the printer when to change colors and what colors to change to. Both of my printers feature one of Bambu Labs' AMS or Automatic Material System. This system communicates with the printhead to ensure smooth feeding and automatic filament change at mid-print. With the setups I have each of my printers can use up to 4 colors and change them automatically.
Looking at my first prototype, which I printed at 50% size, there are a few areas I still need to address, but this is getting really close. Make sure to check out my 3D printer accessory store if you're looking to snag something like this, or other 3D printed items, for your game room, man cave, or office.

Time Lapse Of 3D Printing Video Game Accessories
Over the last 2 years or so, I've really gotten involved in 3D printing. My first printer, an ANET ET4, really had some weaknesses, but it taught me a lot of things. From there, I picked up an Ender 3 Max, a larger printer that unlocked a number of additional features for me, and then all bets were off. I picked up a Monoprice Joule (Ender 3V2 clone) and Voxel (rebadged Flashforge Adventurer), an Ender 3 V2 Neo, an Ender 3 Max Neo, and more recently I have dip my toes into the world of Bambu Labs printers. Namely about a month ago I got a P1P, and just yesterday I got a P1S.
One of the cool things about the Bambu Labs printers is the fact that it captures onboard time lapse videos So you can witness your creation essentially coming out of nothingness. The beautiful thing about this too is there is literally nothing you need to do to make this happen. At most, there's a check mark when you send a file from your computer to the printer, that's it. The rest of it happens automatically.
Unlike the P1P and P1S's larger brother the X1 Carbon, you can only access time lapse videos by removing the SD card from the units. This is something that I wish Bambu Labs would improve in the future. If I could download these videos right to my computer for editing I would absolutely love it. Or better yet, be able to stream them. Unfortunately, the P1P's camera is like 15 seconds of frame versus 15 frames a second, so watching it live is pretty painful. Watching the time lapse, however, it's pretty cool.
Have you ever seen something being 3D printed? If there was something you could design and 3D print what would it be? We've done a lot of different things, different light boxes, video game storage, items for around the house, and we of course have our 3D printed online store. We're looking to expand our offerings very soon, and we also love printing out custom signage for events such as the Midwest Gaming Classic, Southeast Game Exchange, Video Game Summit, and soon, the Utah Retro Game Swap.

We're Attending the Utah Retro Game Swap | September 9, 2023!
I love going to video game conventions, it's one of my favorite aspects of the hobby. I think it goes back to my love of G4 TV and their coverage of E3 in the early 2000s. I tried to take that aspect and apply it to how I shared footage from RC trade shows such as RCX and iHobby back in the day, and now I get to do that for the gaming world. I'm thrilled to be able to officially announce that I will be heading to Utah for the first time as We're Attending the Utah Retro Game Swap on September 9, 2023!
Utah Retro Game Swap: Super Chronicles in Time IV is being held in Layton, Utah at the Davis Conference Center from 10am to 7pm. This event promised to have collectibles, vintage toys, and of course, video games. I'm not alone at this event as our good friend John Riggs will also be there. We will be having a booth where you can come and say hi, and we'll also have many of our 3D-printed items on-site for sale.
In addition to our booth, we're also going to be co-hosting a panel with Ryan from Archades Games. We've talked to Ryan in the past and we'll make sure to put our heads together to make a fun and interesting panel. Ryan tends to dip his toes into the world of emulation a bit more than I do, but we both also focus on hardware reviews, how-tos, and more.
This one-day event is hosted by Minus World Video Games, local to the Layton, UT area. They specialize in keeping retro gaming alive in the area, with everything from the Atari 2600, Intellivision, and Collecovision to Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. We're going to try to visit the store on Sunday before our flight leaves to bring you some of what this unique store offers.
Let me know if you've ever heard of the Utah Retro Game Swap. If you have, is it something you've attended or wanted to? Are there specific things you'd like us to show during our event coverage? Let us know in the comments!

Is This Worth $50?!? Hyperkin Xenon Xbox Controller Review
In this video, we are going to unbox and test out the Xenon controller from Hyperkin, designed to replicate the look and feel of the original Xbox 360 controller.
Over the years, I have been pretty outspoken on my dislike of previous-generation Microsoft controllers. The Duke and S Controller are two of my least favorite of all time. The Xbox 360 controller is also one that I am not the biggest fan of. In early 2023, Hyperkin announced their Xenon series of controllers. Patterned after the Xbox 360 controllers, but designed for the Xbox Series S, Series X, One X, and One S. Would they be any better for what I prefer in a controller than the originals from Microsoft?
One of the major differences between the original Xbox 360 controller and the Xenon controller is how it connects to your system. The original controller utilized a huge battery pack on the back of the controller that housed rechargeable or alkaline AA batteries. The Xenon controller is a wired controller that utilizes a USB-C type cable to connect to your system. While not as convenient as wireless, at least in my opinion it drastically improves the ergonomics of the controller.
The overall layout and design of the Xenon pretty perfectly mimics that of the original controller. The button placements are identical, the triggers feel the same, the bumpers are the same, it's almost an exact one-for-one replica. The major difference is going to be the lack of that hump on the back from the battery pack.
When we first covered the Xenon controller announcement, there were four total colors. Now there are six as they have added two more additional colors from the original announcement. One of the really cool things is the fact that Hyperkin also includes a matching 10 ft long USB-C cable. This really helps complete the overall look and feel of the package.
Upon holding the controller in my hands I was astounded at how comfortable I thought it was. I literally hate the 360 controllers, and I think the omission of the battery pack hump on the back is a huge difference-maker. My hands just fall into place, I now understand a little bit more why so many people may have loved this controller. Perhaps if Microsoft would have gone with internal rechargeable batteries I would have been a bigger fan of the original 360 controller. But in my opinion, the Xenon controller is vastly superior to the original Xbox 360 Controller from Microsoft themselves.
Playing a wide variety of games, the Xenon controller just worked. Even the d-pad, something that the original 360 controller was heavily criticized for is very good on this controller. I pulled off all of my moves in Street Fighter, platformers felt great, and the D-pad is actually very good. The analog sticks also worked very well, and although they are not Hall effect sensors they are very smooth.
Why it RoX:
- Six different color options
- USB-C for connection
- Matching USB-C cable color
- Improved ergonomics without the battery pack
- It just works
What could be improved
- $50 for a wired controller is a bit expensive in my opinion
- Wireless would be phenomenal
- Concave and convex buttons for the face buttons would be huge
Should you buy one?
I'd love to see the Xenon released for the Xbox 360 with an internal rechargeable battery, I think that would be absolutely a game changer. As it is, as a wired controller for the Xbox One and Series S and X line of systems, this is darn good. It is probably, no it is my favorite incarnation of the Xbox 360 controller. I can see using and enjoying this in the future, and if it's something that I like, as someone who hated the 360 controller, I can only imagine those who love the 360 controller and what they might think of it. At $50 it's a bit pricey compared to wireless units, but the performance matches the price fairly well. Job well done Hyperkin!

Which Was Better? Super Mario 2 vs Super Mario 3 Mini Games
Two absolute classics of retro video games have to be Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario Bros 3. Each of them built upon the games that came before them, each one doing things a little bit differently. They each also had something very much in common, they both had their own mini-games. Between the two of them, however, each of the mini-games were a little bit different.
In Super Mario Bros two, you actually have a game that you can play at the end of each and every level. Depending on how many coins you collect you can have different chances to spin the slot machine at the very end of the level. The more coins you have, the more chances you have to spend. What can you possibly win? Well, depending on what items you can line up, you can get extra lives to try to traverse further into the game.
Super Mario Bros 3 had two different mini-games, one of which was a memory sort of mini-game where you flipped cards over and if you matched an item you got that in rear inventory. It also had a spade level where, similar to the slot machine game in Super Mario 2, you had the line things up to see if you could win a prize. Unlike Super Mario Bros 2, the slot machine was horizontal versus vertical, and you only got one chance to play. If you didn't line everything up, you were done.
Both are extremely challenging, but the fact that you could get multiple swings at the mini-game in Super Mario 2, at least to me, makes it a little bit easier. You had more bites at the apple to try to go ahead and get extra lives. And Super Mario Bros 3, you are one and done. If you didn't do it you had to wait until the next map.
Which one of these mini-games was your favorite? I think I personally preferred the intro graphic to Super Mario Bros 3, with Mario and Toad looking and talking with each other. Still, I prefer the gameplay mechanic in Super Mario Bros 2.
Let me know which one of these two was your favorite. Did you also happen to think that the Super Mario 3 matching game was very similar to the one when you entered the Wii U eShop? It is! Let us know your favorite down in the comments.

How Do YOU Handle Pricing Errors When Game Hunting?
You know the old saying, if it's too good to be true it probably is? I recently had one of these situations, but it was something completely understandable. I was out game hunting recently, I thought that I had caught one of our local stores severely underpricing something, something I have had my eye on for a while. What was it?
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (SotN) on the original PlayStation is a game that I passed on years ago when it was only $60. I wasn't going to spend that much on a game! Then I've seen what that game has gone for recently, I should have spent the $60 then. Well, while I was game hunting recently, one of our local stores had a copy of Symphony of the Night behind a glass showcase. I looked at it, and when I saw the price I did a double-take. Then another double-take. Is that a quadruple take?
According to my GamEye app, Symphony of the Night is a $146 game with a case and an instruction manual. The store had it priced at $46.99, way underpriced. I told them I would take it, and proceeded to check out some other games. While I was looking, the manager on duty came over to me and mentioned to me that he needed to talk. We talk all the time so I didn't think anything of it.
"We can't sell it to you for that price".
"Sure you can, it's the price that's on it, why can't you?"
"Well, it's the wrong price tag. If you take a look here you can see that it clearly says Splatoon on it. Someone put the wrong sticker on the wrong game. That's less than what we paid for it and we can't sell it for that. But I'll sell it to you for a fair price where we're at least breaking even."
He told me the price, and while still reasonable, I wasn't going to do them like that. They're a good store, they've helped me out in the past, and honest mistakes happen. I look at this as an honest mistake, it wasn't something where someone priced it incorrectly for Symphony of the Night, it literally had the wrong game's price tag on it.
Would I have liked to pick up a copy of Symphony of the Night for only $46? Absolutely! Was I going to burn a local store because of it? Absolutely not. I will keep hunting, eventually, I will own a copy of this game, but what would you have done in this situation?

Is the Three Stooges from Limited Run Games for NES Necessary?
I am largely a fan of what Limited Run Games does to help preserve old games, bring previously digital-only games to a physical release, and help people play games from the past they may have missed out on. But, in 2023 they announced a release that I just don't understand. Three Stooges for the NES is coming from Limited Run, but why is this necessary?
The reason I bring up the question is that on a recent trip to one of my local game stores, I saw a loose copy for the NES, and it was only $12.99. Now yes, this is loose so there's no box, manual, sleeve, or any of that. But at $59.99, what does this offer over and above the standard game? According to the Limited Run Games Site:
FEATURES:
10 games-with-in-a-game, including Stooges trivia.
Hear the Stooges' actual voices!
Nyuk! Nyuk! Relive a scene from a Stooges movie.
As far as I can tell there are no differences between this release and the original Activision release back in the 1980s. I love me some Stooges, one of the best gifts I ever got was the 3 Stooges VCR Game, but I just don't understand what LRG is doing here. Is this a personal pet project? Is this something Josh or Doug just wanted to make for personal reasons? If so I totally get that! I think that would be amazing and a total love letter to something if that is the case. But looking at what the game sells for, it's not rare, it's not uncommon, and it's not expensive, this release just has me scratching my head and doing the Curley Shuffle!
But what about you? Is this a release you've heard about? Is this something that you would be interested in? Let me know in the comments as I'd love to hear other people's perspectives on whether the Three Stooges from Limited Run Games for NES is a Necessary release.

Angry Road Raging Zelda BotW Fan Tries To Punch Out My Window
Please Note: This is a parody. No one tried punching out my window. While I am not a fan of Breath of the Wild I would never egg someone into a fight over it.
I have notoriously not been a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild pretty much since it came out. I bought it at lunch with my Nintendo Switch, and BotW has just been a game I've not enjoyed in the series.
With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just releasing, many people ask me if I was going to get it. I'm not. Since it is based on the same game engine as Breath of the Wild, I really have no interest in it whatsoever. I didn't like the crafting, I didn't like the fact that it took forever to get to your next point in the game, it just wasn't something I enjoyed from an experienced standpoint. So that got me thinking, instead of Tears of the Kingdom what are three great Legend of Zelda games I'd recommend that you play instead. Let's take a look.
Number 3
The Original Legend of Zelda
There's nothing better than to go back to where it all began with the original Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo Entertainment System. You can actually play this on your Nintendo Switch with the Switch online service. This helps you understand where everything began, less of an RPG and more of an adventure game, I absolutely love the original Legend of Zelda. Add in the replayability of going through a second time with all the dungeons changing position, and you have one of the best games ever made.
Number two
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Released on both the Nintendo GameCube and the Nintendo Wii, this was one of the launch titles for the Wii, similar to how Breath of the Wild was for the Switch. I absolutely loved the Wii version of this game, I know the waggle controls took a bit for some to get used to but I took right to them. Aiming your bow was terrific with the motion control, Epona was there almost from the very beginning, the only thing that was a bit annoying was Navi. I also appreciated the return to this graphic style from the cell shading that we got on Windwaker, which I was not a fan of.
Number one
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
I've never been a huge fan of Zelda 2 The Adventures of Link because I thought it was too derivative of what the original game was. A Link to the Past gave me everything I loved about the original game and more. This soundtrack is so beautiful in its arrangements, you get a lot of subtlety in all of the sound effects, and the graphic style is just fantastic. I love the fact that you have the light world and the dark World of Hyrule and even little things like the chickens attacking you a few mess with them too much was a blast. This is without a doubt my favorite Zelda game of all time, and in my top 10 of favorite games as well.
What do you think of this list? Are there any games that I left out that you would recommend as well? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Sega, Atari, Playstation, and ODD Southeast Game Exchange Pickups!
In this episode, we recap our visit to the 2023 Southeast Game Exchange in Greenville South Carolina. We met up with friends, sold a lot of things, and also got some pretty cool pickups. Let's get started.
One convention that will always hold a dear place in my heart for multiple reasons is the Southeast Game Exchange. In 2019 I was supposed to be heading to the show to host a panel when the morning we were going to leave my father had a massive heart attack and passed away. We were clearly detoured because of it, but we stopped off on the way back, and I will never forget the kindness, generosity, and support that this community gave me in my family at this event.
2023 was filled with much happier times, as we got to meet up with many old friends, The immortal John Hancock, Jay from Square Pegs, Owazrim, Retro Rick, the Pixel Game Squad, and many more. We also had the opportunity to set up a booth and sell at the event as well, something I was excited to bring my 3D-printed items to for the first time. Finally, I know there's always good stuff at this show so I was hopeful I could knock three items off of my list that I was looking for. I was looking for Sonic 2 for the Sega Master System, tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar, and Alien versus Predator, also for the Jaguar.
Friday was strictly a travel day, and I got to the show right after 7:00 a.m. Saturday to go ahead and start setting up. I quickly realized I had far too much stuff for the booth, so I had to decide what and when to display certain items. Since I was running behind I did not have a chance to walk the floor at all on Saturday, but thankfully Jay from Square Pegs did me a solid. I gave him my list of games that I was looking for and he actually spotted one of them. He said he saw a boxed copy of Tempest 2000 for the Jaguar for $80, and I proceeded to hand him $80 cash. I asked him to see if the vendor would take 70, and he proceeded to ask for me. Unfortunately, the vendor was stuck at his price, but I now have a complete inbox Tempest 2000 for the Jaguar.
After a very solid sales day on Saturday, we went out to a local barbecue restaurant for an after-party. There I was able to hang out with good friends and catch up with others. My booth was right next to Tyler from My Retro Life and I was able to have dinner with him as well. Having lost both of my parents I will say his videos hit me probably a little differently than many of you, even now just typing that gets me a little choked up. But we were able to have some great conversations, he played guess that music that I was playing in my booth, and overall it was a wonderful experience to get to know him.
Sunday morning started a little bit later, which meant I could get a little bit more sleep. Things were definitely busier on Saturday than Sunday, but I was able to walk the floor a little bit before the show officially opened. I had seen quite a few things that interested me, although I will say prices seemed a little bit higher than in previous years. I managed to pick up four other games, all of which were at good prices.
Two things I forgot to show in the video were gifts from our friend Owazrim. He had some custom game sleeves made for the Sega Master System with his logo and everything on it, and they look terrific. He also knows I am a huge baseball fan, professional baseball not American minor league baseball. But he did give me a hat from the Macon Bacon, which is perhaps the second-best name of a baseball team next to the Milwaukee Brewers.
I want to thank Austin and all of the organizers for putting on yet another amazing Southeast Game exchange. We're already making plans for 2024 which will be held the weekend after the 4th of July. They're expanding to a larger part of the hall which should mean more vendors, more panels, more free play area, and more fun.

Getting good quality controllers to be able to play Nintendo Switch Online NES or Famicom games can be a bit of a challenge. Weirdest SEGE Interview? John Hancock at Southeast Game Exchange
One of the great things about going to video game conventions is being able to meet up with friends and extended family from across the country.
One of the things I love about the Southeast Game Exchange is how much it just feels like a family reunion. Sure, we're all there to either buy or sell, but after the show is over at the end of the night, we love hanging out with each other. This is what the community is all about, fellowship, bonding, laughing and having a good time, and just enjoying each other's company separate from even the hobby we all love so very much.
I also love the fact that this group, my friends, none of us hesitate to bust on the other. Just about anything and anyone is fair game at any moment. We don't take ourselves too seriously, we laugh hard, we have lots of fun, and we just enjoy ourselves.
One person we've gotten really close with in recent years has been the immortal John Hancock. We always love spending time with John, there's so much that we have in common and some interests that we share. Recently, we got to hang out at the 2023 Southeast Game Exchange, which was such a total blast. One of the things that stuck out about John this trip though, he seemed a lot more.... Animated? This led to one of The Weirdest Interviews I've ever done with John Hancock at the Southeast Games Exchange
John has actually started creating some really cool merchandise, outside the norms of what most people, and most YouTubers, offer. Sure we all have shirts. Some of us have hats, coffee cups, cell phone cases, and koozies. But what John has done has been to commission someone to create a plushie of him. And it was a darn good one too!
The attention to detail that has gone into this thing is pretty stinking cool. It has his logo on the hat, and his beard, which also even features a little bit of a salt and pepper look. Overall, it was hilarious to see, and I hope he has nothing but success with selling it.
Make sure you hit him up on his channel, message him on Twitter, or Facebook, and he should be able to get you one if you would want one. Is this something you would pick up? Is this something you would like me to offer? Let me know In the comment section.

Hanging Out with Pixel Game Squad, Gabbo, Retro Rick & More at SEGE
We were recently able to attend the Southeast Game Exchange again, one of our favorite events of the year. One of the things we love about it is the fact that so many of our close friends are there that we get to hang out with that live all around the country. It's been almost 2 years since I've seen a lot of these guys at the 2021 Southeast Game Exchange. That was the last time I got to see Retro Rick & Riff (Aaron) from the Pixel Game Squad (Retro Liberty). I did get to see Gabbo more recently at the Midwest Gaming Classic, along with The Immortal John Hancock. Two guys I got to meet here for the very first time were Tyler Esposito from My Retro Life and Ricky from the Pixel Game Squad. I've talked with both of these guts over the years, and trolled Tyler about Darkwing Duck on the TurboGrafx 16, but this was the first time I got to meet them in person.
A lot of the credit for this attitude and energy around the event has to go to Austin, the organizer of the Southeast Game Exchange. He has the very best people around him and invites some of the best people in the community to give their most and their best to others. I love that about this show, it is Southern hospitality but in a video game way. This is why we love coming to SEGE, and Hanging Out with Pixel Game Squad, Gabbo, Retro Rick & More.

We Picked Up One Of Our Most Wanted Games For the Jaguar at SEGE!
Have you ever purchased a video game system simply for playing one or two games? That is where the Atari Jaguar gets for me. When I was a teenager, my friend Russ actually had a Jaguar and we would often get together with other friends to go ahead and play Cybermorph, Alien versus Predator, Doom, and Tempest 2000. It is because of these memories and my nostalgia for my friendship with all of these guys that I wanted to pick up an Atari Jaguar. While the library is not very big, it is pretty expensive so there are not many games that I want to pick up. However, three games on my list that definitely want to own are as you might expect, Cybermorph, Alien Versus Predator, and Tempest 2000.
Luckily for me, when I thought my Jaguar the owner had a copy of Cybermorph that he sent me when I thought the system. Excellent! But I still needed to pick up a copy of Tempest 2000 and Alien versus Predator. I was definitely on the lookout for these two games at the 2023 Southeast Game Exchange.
Since I was selling at the event, I was pretty much tied to my booth. That's where amazing friend of the channel Jay from Square Pegs did me a solid and found a copy of Tempest 2000, complete box, and let me know about it. I asked him if he would be willing to try some negotiation with a seller for me, which he was, but eventually, he came back to let me know the seller would not move on the price. I had a price in mind, with the max that I would go was, and Jay took care of the negotiations for me. Unfortunately, the seller would not budge from his price, but $80 for a complete inbox Tempest 2000 with a box protector is not terrible. But overall I am thrilled to have this now in my collection.
Do you have any games like this that you would buy a system? Let me know in the comments section what your games, or system, would be. And thanks to Jay from Square Pegs because now We have Picked Up One Of Our Most Wanted Games For the Jaguar at SEGE!

Dr Eggman Just Captured Sonic At the Southeast Game Exchange
One of the things that we love about traveling to different conventions around the countries the ability to catch up with friends, old and new, that we don't get to see very often. One of them that we absolutely love spending time with is Paul aka Owazarim from the southeast part of the United States, we've been friends for a number of years, and we first met in person two years ago at the Southeast Game exchange. At the 2023 Southeast Game exchange I was able to give him a gift that was very well suited to him.
Sometimes when I am 3D printing things, mistakes happen. One such mistake happened recently when I was printing bodies for LED signs. I accidentally printed the sign bodies in white instead of blue for the Sega Sonic signs that I make. I actually wound up selling a few of these, but I held on to one specifically that I wanted to give to Paul as he is not only a sega fan, but he also cosplays as Dr Eggman or Dr robotnik.
I knew that he would be the perfect person to gift my last variant of this Sega sign too, and I honestly don't plan on making any more. while they looked okay, the blue just looks so much better.
Let me know what you think of this sort of display. Is this something you would consider picking up and adding to your collection? should I make more of these ghost white signs? Comment below.

We Bought A Surface Go 3 From Best Buy for UNDER $130
We are always on the lookout for good deals, things that not only save us money but can also save us time and make us more productive. I often edit videos when I am on my lunch hour at work, including YouTube Shorts. So being able to be more productive and not have to lug along a huge laptop is always a benefit. I've been eyeballing the Microsoft Surface tablet line of machines for quite some time, and just never pulled the trigger. And then one afternoon I saw a deal that I just could not pass up. Even if I didn't love it, it would get me in the door of their ecosystem to test out the machine.
Our local Best Buy has been a good source for me over the years to check out and pick up open-box items. I bought TVs, laptops, and lots of equipment that's been open-boxed. Well, when I was searching through their open box listings for surface tablets I noticed they had an open box Surface Go 3 for only $127.
Looking at the description, they labeled it as having some cosmetic defects. That type of thing does not bother me as through normal daily use and wear and tear things are going to get dinged, scratched, and marked up. But I also know that it comes with a full warranty on it, and sometimes they'll even knock a little bit extra off. I went and added it to my cart, and then proceeded to find an open box keyboard cover, normally a $100 option for only $50. So in the end, a $399 Surface Tablet Go 3 and a $99 Surface keyboard cover was mine for under $190.
So far I am really liking the experience of it. Is it as fast as my regular laptop? No, but at the same time, I can also do things with this that I can't or don't want to do with my laptop. I can sit in bed and slice files for 3D printing and send it to my Bambu Labs P1P. I can do light video editing on it. I edited this short in my hotel room while at the Southeast Gaming Exchange in 2023. I was able to pair my trackball mouse with it. I'm really liking the experience so far.
Would I like something a little bit faster? Absolutely. I also picked up a 256 GB micro SD card as the onboard 64 gigs of storage is ridiculous. But overall, for a minor investment, I'm loving this thing. I've already told my wife that I may look at giving her this one and I may pick up a more powerful one down the road. So in the end, this is how We Just Scored A Surface Tablet for UNDER $130

We Just Upgraded Our Canon T7i Camera for YouTube! (Kinda)
One thing that is very important about being on YouTube is the need for a quality camera and mic system, especially if you are going to be creating highly detailed tutorials and how-tos. Since January 2019 I have been using a Canon T7i DSLR camera, but prior to that I was using my Cell Phone. I recently had to go back to using a phone because I fell and broke my camera.
Several weeks ago, I was carrying 3 backpacks into my basement and studio. I didn't notice that my youngest daughter had left some of her toys, specifically a princess show, at the bottom of the stairs on the landing. When I took the final step, I rolled my right ankle severely, to the point where it audibly popped when I rolled it. I went down like a sack of potatoes, landing on my backpacks.
In tremendous pain, but I managed to get ice on my ankle and elevate it to start trying to expedite the healing process. The fall happened on a Tuesday, but I didn't know there were any issues with my gear until the following Sunday. My laptops in both backpacks worked just fine so I didn't think anything of it. When I went to start filming on Sunday, my camera would not turn on, no matter what I tried. I tried different batteries, different lenses, and different power supplies, I even tried my battery, lens, and SD Card on another camera and they all worked.
I reached out to Canon and they got me set up with their service center. There were 3 possible repair charges, $110, $220, and $335. They quoted me $220 and had me send the camera in just before the 4th of July. About 10 days later I got the camera back, and I was shocked and what I broke.
It turns out that I broke the main PCB circuit board inside the body of the camera! I knew I fell hard, but not that hard! I will say that Canon was amazing to work with, had great communication, and kept me informed throughout the entire process. Now I can take my T7i with me as I head to more conventions, such as the Southeast Game Exchange this weekend. So, We Just Upgraded Our Camera for YouTube back to what we have been using for the last 4 years.

Ditch JOYCON DRIFT FOR GOOD! Better Than SPLIT PAD!
One of the things that drives me absolutely batty about the Nintendo Switch is the joy icon design. They are very small, they're not very accurate, and overall I am not a fan. It's why I don't play my Switch and handheld a lot. One of the other issues with the Nintendo Switch joy-cons is something called stick drift, where the controller reads an input even though you're not supplying any to the control stick. Well, the team over at Doyoky just sent us a new set of their Wireless RGB Nintendo Switch replacement joy-con controllers that feature hall effect joysticks, RGB backlight, and a whole lot more. Let's take a quick look and see if you can Ditch JOYCON DRIFT FOR GOOD and if these are Better Than the SPLIT PAD.
Key Features:
- Utilizes Hall effect sensor joysticks to prevent controller drifting.
- Most of the buttons, including the D-Pad and face buttons, have been upgraded for improved durability compared to the previous version.
- 7 LED Light Colors & 2 Different Modes
Well-designed Adjustable LED ring light of 7 different colors! Added side light lamps, featuring cool 7-color LED lights, along with 2 different light modes: Single Color Mode and Breathing Color Changing Mode on the Left and Right Controllers.
- This wireless controller has programmable back buttons which can be mapped
- Turbo Function to customize any button to free players’ fingers and adjust the turbo speed to fit different games.
- Built-in 6-Axis gyro motion controls to rapid start/stop motion without delay.
- Adjustable dual vibration and gives you 4-level precise vibration: 0%/30%/ 50%/75%/ 100%.
- Ergonomic & Non-Slip Design. Bigger buttons and joysticks avoid pressing other buttons by mistake. The back of Joycon is designed with a special anti-skid pattern, which helps increases friction and reduces the unpleasant experience caused by hand sweat.
What do you think? We'll be testing out the Doyoky Joy-Cons in an upcoming review!
