This time around on Let's Repair we have a guest on for the first time: my friend Sean! This video is all thanks to him as this is his original Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition we repaired. After dealing with months of general slowdown, errors auto-saving, and countless other issues it seemed his Xbox One X decided to take a long nap. This resulted in the console being able to turn on and off, but not displaying any sort of signal when hooked up to a screen. Many people would instantly point to something wrong with the HDMI port or encoder chip, but based on what Sean had told me I thought it might be worth inspecting the internal hard drive. So far this is also the longest episode to date as we had several discussions while working on this together. ModChat is alive! In this episode of ModChat I start with the open source release of xaio360, the previously unreleased Xbox 360 AIO glitch chip and SPI flasher from Team REBUG! Many people who have followed my previous StorageMgr tutorial have had a few issues with larger microSD cards, so I made this specific video for a couple reasons. The first being to show that large cards do work, as demonstrated with a 400 GB microSD card in here! The second being to show and clarify a few setup steps that people might commonly skip or misconfigure. In March 2014 Team Xecuter announced the XODE project to the world, described by them as "the next generation of ODE design." This was to be an improvement over existing ODE solutions for the Xbox 360 such as the X360DOCK, Wasabi 360, and of course the famous x360Key. This optical drive emulator was designed to replace the DVD drive in a console and allow the end-user to play their Xbox 360 game backups in ISO format directly from a hard drive. XODE was to support 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives, had the ability to choose your games over WiFi, and presumably even more features! Sadly a lot of the information ends there as the XODE project was put on hold and officially announced as cancelled in September 2014. Deadly Premonition was ported to Switch in 2019 in the form of Deadly Premonition Origins. This was a surprise to everyone not with it being announced, but originally releasing on the eShop the same day it was announced! A physical copy released about 3 months after the digital release, which is when I got my hands on it. Upon booting it up I noticed the pre-rendered cutscenes looked much worse than I remembered. Year four of the self-imposed challenge is now complete! In 2016 I was finishing at least one game every month, I noticed a few months in and decided to stick to it until December. In April 2018 the Xbox 360's backwards compatibility program for original Xbox games received an update for the first time in over 10 years! A few rumblings of this going live made the rounds online, but no one fully verified this or checked to see what differences were made. On Halloween 2019, Mathieulh released his own version of the April 2018 update for JTAG/RGH/Devkit consoles to succeed the previous modified files. Initially this was an incremental update which gave you all the benefits of the previously released modified files by xorloser, but Mathieulh proceeded to go a few steps further. After several more modifications were made to these files, he added in Guide access as well as in-game chat capabilities. This is HUGE because both of these features were never available to people playing Xbox games on the Xbox 360 until 2019! Time to delve into the world of ROM hacks on this channel for the first time! I started looking into enhancements, patches, and translations for original PlayStation games and was pleasantly surprised over what I found! However I noticed several different formats of these patches, different methods, as well as different expected game formats. Due to all of this I wanted to make an in-depth guide explaining these ROM hacks a bit further as well as how to apply them. iam8bit and Limited Run Games have gotten into the retro gaming market with a few physical cartridge releases. With iam8bit releasing Street Fighter II for SNES and Limited Run Games tackling older Star Wars releases, I looked into these further and was quite surprised at the asking prices for these. None of these games seem to be rare or valuable on the used market, but it seems like these are being manufactured and sold at a premium price point. Where's the demand for these? Who is asking for them? I have no idea, but to me these look like extremely expensive, officially licensed reproduction builds of existing games. The Rad Mod is a collection of mods for the original Xbox version Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I really like the Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch, but I wanted to look at alternative options.
