What's the deal with these N64 & SNES reproduction carts?
iam8bit and Limited Run Games have gotten into the retro gaming market with a few physical cartridge releases. With iam8bit releasing Street Fighter II for SNES and Limited Run Games tackling older Star Wars releases, I looked into these further and was quite surprised at the asking prices for these. None of these games seem to be rare or valuable on the used market, but it seems like these are being manufactured and sold at a premium price point.
Where's the demand for these? Who is asking for them? I have no idea, but to me these look like extremely expensive, officially licensed reproduction builds of existing games. I discuss my thoughts over releases like these in this video, as well as asking for your thoughts on these as well. Maybe someone who thinks these are perfect releases can justify them to me? I'm not mad, I'm not upset, I'm just confused...
