If there was ever a Modern Grassroots Americana Album, Of the People, By the People and For the People, in the Tradition of Woody Guthrie and say, Bruce Springsteen, then it was REM's, Automatic for the People... Two Sides, Six Songs per Side for a Total of 12 Gems that eerily Captured the Gruesome state of affairs that America had become by the early Nineties, but what is most fascinating of all, is that these songs DEFINE the State of America in 2023, almost as if the Band's lyricist, Singer, Michael Stipe, had been given our Landscape of today, de facto, back in 1991... The album's Musical and Lyrical theme was overtly Thoughtful and Melancholy, that would burst forth at times with either Calculated Frustration and Anger, or Breathtaking Innocence and Hope...and what was made so very clear within the lyrics of Michael Stipe was that while Everything in America had become massively Fucked Up and turned Upside Down, that there was Legitimate Hope for Americans and America, but not just yet...soon, but not yet... The entire album, in the traditions of both Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen, powerfully spoke the Truth, without any attempts to diffuse the Pain and Suffering that went along with all of the Lies...songs like Everybody Hurts, Monty Got a Raw Deal, Man on the Moon, and this Song, Ignoreland, RIPPED the Illusion that America was some kind of Iconic Nation of Freedom, revealing in its place a broken down vessel of once Awesome Grandeur and Character, that had been levelled into Parking Garages and Cesspools of Broken Emotions... Ignoreland is one of the Most Brutally Honest Songs about Modern America ever written...there are no 'niceties' within the Song, just an UNRELENTING Attack by Michael Stipe against 'The Bastards' that STOLE the Heart and Soul of America after the long US versus THEM Cold War Battle between America the Soviet Union...on the surface, it may have looked like America had won this war, with the Soviet Union collapsing into a series of Petty Dictatorial psuedo-Capitalist Nation States where Violence, Thuggery and Greed won the Day, leaving the once Strong and Proud Russian Peoples a group of Wayward Vagabonds seeking survival by any means...but it was not so...while Russia's overt Collapse and Re-Birth was plainly shown on CNN, America's Downward Spiral to the year 2023, was happening Behind the Scenes...behind all of the Glamorous American Award Shows, Red Carpets, Sporting Events, and Shopping Malls, America's Collapse was being Brewed in Secret, awaiting a Release Date that still has not yet come...and when this collapse comes, it will send into motion a series of Cataclysmic Events that will Shake the very Foundations of the Earth, causing even the largest Nation-States to Collapse into the very recesses of this Earth... But out of this Great Fall and Cataclysm, will come as Michael Stipe alluded to at the end of the Song... 'And that takes us out of the record, and into the Revolution. Take it.' No Such Thing is the First Song from John Mayer's First Album (the Brilliant, Room for Squares) and it was a huge hit for John Mayer, which was surprising as no one knew John Mayer at the time, and as the Lyrics are so Truthful, Honest and Subversive, with the Hook of the Song featuring the following lines... 'I wanna run through the halls of my high school I wanna scream at the top of my lungs, I just found out there's no such thing as the real world Just a lie you've got to rise above' But there is so much more to this song as well, including... 'Welcome to the real world She said to me condescendingly, Take a seat, take your life Plot it out in black and white Well, I never lived the dream of the prom kings And the drama queens, I'd like to think the best of me Is still hiding up my sleeve They love to tell you Stay inside the lines, But something's better On the other side...' Still think that Bruce Springsteen didn't write Endless, Brilliant Songs decoding the Allegories and Parables of the Bible??? Here is one of his most obvious and best...Adam RAISED a Cain, (from his 1978 album, Darkness on the Edge of Town, one of the Best Albums ever created) means that ALL Children are Born into this World thru both Father Heaven and Mother Earth from the Womb of an Earthly Wombman, are Born in Divinity and Grace, and are NOT Evil, regardless of what may have occurred in past Lives...Karma CANNOT be 'Carried Forward' past the experience of Death, as there would NEVER be a possibility for any of us Fallen Souls to ever RAISE ourselves once more...we would simply become SLAVES to the Great Wheel of the Samsara, forevermore...and this is NOT God's Purpose for us... We were Created to Fall from Grace in the Western Garden of Eden, at the footsteps of Duality, the Tree of Knowledge between Good and Evil, so that we could FIND once more, within ourselves, that which is Purest and Best, which is our Feminine Half, the Kundalini, that which comes to us from Mother Earth, the Sacred Feminine...and thru this Magical, Magnetic Energy, we RISE in Her Arms to God in Heaven, Activating our Pineal Gland, and Illuminating the Third Ventricle of our Brain, becoming the Light of the World... And it is from HERE, in this Dark Room of Despair and Godlessness, that we choose to Marry and to have Children so that we can have Families...Dark Families that always Fight, Complain, Divide and Conquer, instead of Light Families that SURRENDER All to God, and TRUST that All shall be provided for them, just as HE does for the Fowl of the Air... Bruce Springsteen KNOWS the Bible, and thus, the Truth of this World, and therefore, that we Must choose to do GOOD, so that we can become Truly Free, and SOVEREIGN of their Evil Ways, by simply Trusting in both Father Heaven and Mother Earth, and NOT the Hands of Man...because when we do follow the Canaanite Ways, then we Create the Reality where Adam, through his own Foibles and False Beliefs, turns his own Son, Cain, into the Murderer and Monster that he became, and that which plagues this Earth to this VERY DAY... This Brilliant Allegorical Song comes from Abba's 2nd Album, by the same name, and it shows us, clearly, how Abba spent their entire Careers Teaching us about God and His Kingdom, and how so many of the most Popular Songs of All Time, Loved by the Many for years and years, known by them, Word for Word, are in actuality Inspired Teachings that lead us to God... Most people, especially Men, write Abba off, as a Cheesy 'Pop Band' that wrote 'Silly Love Songs', that were not of any importance, and yet, with a Deeper and more Thoughtful, Feminine approach, we can now see that Bands, like Abba, have held our Hands and Guided our Footsteps for Decades, as they lit the Way back Home to God's Mansion upon the Hill... Within this Song, they use Napoleon Bonaparte as the Parable, the example of having our own Great Showdown at Waterloo (Watch the Water), where the Grandeur and Greatness of our Ego is at War with God, not knowing that God always Wins; thus, at 'Waterloo' each of us have our Grand Demise, so that we may fall in Humility, back to our True Selves...and then there, in this temporary Darkness, we Cry out for God, Surrendering to HIS Will and not that of our Ego, and then the Eucatastrophe comes to us, that in this Grand Defeat at War, comes our Forgiveness and Salvation, all by Knowing that HE sees All and Knows All, as HE is the Creator of all that which is...and within this Fledgling Light in the Darkness, comes Real Faith, and Real Trust that Carries us wherever we need to go for the Rest of our Lives... As I have discussed with you before, Bruce Springsteen has spent his Brilliant Career writing Allegorical Songs that are most often taken directly from the Bible, in particular, the Parables of Jesus Christ, and this Stunningly Haunting and Beautiful Track is one such example... Meeting Across the River is loosely based upon the Journey of Jacob, in Genesis of the Old Testament, whereby Jacob left all of his Earthly possessions behind, and crossed the River of his MIND, the Horizontal Divide of the Brain's Cerebrum, and entered into the Right Hemisphere of his Brain, God's Kingdom on Earth, after he Wrestled with his own EGO for a Day...it was then that an Angel of God came to Jacob and asked him if he would stop, and Jacob refused, stating that he would not stop until he had found God... The Angel then asked for Jacob's Name, and upon hearing it, the Angel said, that is too poor a name for thee, I shall call you IS - RA - EL and you shall be gifted the Promised Land, flowing with Milk and Honey...and it was then that Jacob entered into Peniel, PINEAL GLAND, and met God Face-to-Face, and Jacob's Life was PRESERVED, as the Pineal Gland Sacredly Secretes the Life Giving, Melatonin, where Mela in Latin means the Sweetness of Honey, and Tonin is TONE... Thus, Jacob so ALIGNED his Frequency to that of God, that he was gifted Everlasting Life, should he choose to Follow the Path that is Strait and Narrow...and THIS is what is Allegorically and Loosely being said within the Parameters of this Earthly Story of Two Men, down on their Luck, trying to turn all of their LEAD into Silver and Gold; the Alchemical Tale of the Journey UP the Strait and Narrow Way to the RIGHT HAND side of God, as One with HIM, in Heaven Upon Earth... Eddie is the Protagonist's 'Shady' Friend, that could be best described as Loyal, but 'IFFY', and without explaining why, Springsteen makes it clear within the Song that 'Eddie' is going along for the Ride, as he is Finding them a Ride, and will not be separated from the Narrator...Eddie in Gematria = 27, and in case you were not aware of this, EGO in Gematria, is ALSO 27...Eddie is the Narrator's Ego, who HAS TO come along for the Ride, for he is the Creator of all the CHAOS in the Protagonist's Life...but, the Protagonist makes it very clear, that once the 'Job' is done, and he has 'Thrown that Money on the Bed', then HE is going to go out WALKING, ALONE, All One with God, while he reminisces that this MIRACLE all started with the words, 'Hey Eddie, can you catch us a Ride...' When we UNITE our Mind as ONE Instrument in Alignment to God, then Everything ALIGNS within our Lives, and we Leave the Chaos of the 'Out There' World, for the Stillness and Silence of the Inner Mind, which is God's Heaven Upon Earth...Thus, Meeting Across the River is Springsteen's adaptation of the One Story, Mankind's Journey as the Prodigal Son, back Home to God...as is the ENTIRE Born to Run Album, making it one of the Best and Most Heartfelt albums ever Created... And the Reason why Springsteen chooses to use a Single Trumpet throughout the Song, especially through the beginning and the end of the Song, is to Boldly Acknowledge that the Protagonist is a Messenger of God (that being Bruce Springsteen), and that the entire purpose of this Journey Across the River, to the Other Side, is to Find God, as if nothing else mattered...so, Hey Eddie (Ego), can you catch us a Ride??? From The Byrds Brilliant 4th album, Younger than Yesterday, comes a True Masterpiece, written by one of THE MOST Gifted Songwriters the world has ever known...the incredibly Unique and Different, David Crosby... As I wrote in the Video itself, David Crosby Crafted Songs that were Frequencies, Portals to Higher Dimensions, Gifts that if used properly, could propel us to enormous Heights, WITHIN ourselves, and Everybody's Been Burned is such a Song... I still remember the first time that I heard it, I was in Grade 11 in Victoria, BC, Canada, and I had recently received my UVIC Student ID card from an older friend of mine, Norm Parkes, the first card that Norm received from the University of Victoria, referred to him as Norm Pankes, instead of Parkes, and voila, I was the recipient of the mistaken card... This was clearly a gift to me from God, as this Card OPENED ENDLESS DOORWAYS for me that were essential for me to become who I am today...I was BORED and Frustrated with Prison, sorry, School, and I knew that I didn't want to be there, so, as I was an 'A' Student and ahead on all of my work, I began to skip classes, and began to Craft a Lifestyle for myself of Living in Book Stores, Record Stores, Stereo Equipment Stores and the UVIC Library... One day, I visited the Basement of the UVIC Library and discovered that they had an extensive record Library, and what was even better, was that they had an area where Students could listen to these Albums via Turntables that were located UNDER large Workspace areas, so all I had to do was plug in Headphones, and I could work at UVIC, listening to Music, instead of being at School... And it was here, in 1978/79 that I dove Headlong into the realm of Roll the Rock Music, and as I have shared with you before, in my lifetime, I have had around a Hundred Songs that just JOLTED me to my very core when I heard them, I relate this as being Struck by Lightning, because this is what it was Literally like for me, when these songs were first played to me... The First Song that did this to me in my Life was when I was very young, and it was David Bowie's, Space Oddity (and interestingly, years later, it would be Bowie's Ashes to Ashes that did it to me again, featuring, once more, the Major Tom character)... Then in 1977 it was Peter Frampton's, Do You Feel Like We Do and Steely Dan's, Josie...I was then that I became completely HOOKED into this Music, as it Opened Doors and Pathways within me towards Heaven, and Began my Lifelong Quest to Find God, no matter what the Price... And then in the UVIC Library, I discovered The Byrds and David Crosby...and when I played the Younger than Yesterday album, which I loved, Everybody's Been Burned Before simply BLEW me away...the Rawness of the Song, both Musically and Lyrically, reached Deep Inside My Soul, and shook me, and to this Day, I am still emotionally connected to this Song; thus, as it is with ALL of these Songs on my List, I am PRIVILEGED to be ABEL to create Meaningful, Deeply Encoded Videos to these Brilliant Creations...for me, it is Paying Back to these Bands and Artists, in a small way, how much I appreciate their Alchemical, Artistic Creations AWAKENING ME towards Higher Ground...and to that end, I will continue to try to re-pay this debt of Kindness forward in the Hopes that Others will come to these songs, as I did, in FASCINATION, changing their Lives Forevermore... John Barleycorn Must Die was a Modern interpretation by Traffic, of the ancient Anglo-Saxon Folklore tune, John Barleycorn, in which Drummer and Lyricist, Jim Capaldi, created their version of this song into a Powerful Parable about Jesus Christ, and the Sovereignty of Mankind... In the Song, at the beginning, we are introduced to the Three Men who came out of the West (an allegory for Death) and who created such Violence and Greed throughout the rest of the Song at the expense of the Average Man's Crop, Barleycorn, Personified as John Barleycorn...and while John Barleycorn certainly is used to reference the Masses, it is also a Personification of the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ...and in doing so, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood used the 3 Men who came out of the Deathly West to portray the Canaanites, those who are the 'Wicked Cabal' that have ruled over us, in Lies, Sex and Violence, since the Murder of Abel, by his brother Cain... First, anyone who thinks that Bruce Springsteen isn't a White Hat, simply does Not Know the Man, nor his Music...Springsteen is not only one of the preeminent Songwriters in Music History, he is also one of the most SELFLESS and Hardworking...the man has Dedicated his Life to Service of Mankind, both thru the litany of his Brilliant Albums, and thru his relentless touring... When I was 17, I saw my first Springsteen concert in Seattle, Washington, at the Old Coliseum, right next to the Space Needle...the concert was 4 HOURS LONG, and at the end of the Incredible show, virtually every fan had to be Pried away by Security, as we simply did not want the Night to end...that is Bruce Springsteen... This song, Badlands, is one of Bruce's best, and it comes from his Most Biblical Album of them all, one of the THE BEST Albums of all time, Darkness on the Edge of Town, and in the song, Bruce creates an Allegory for Jesus' 40 Days and 40 Nights being Tempted by Satan in the Desert, by Brilliantly applying it to OUR Current Journey of needing to renounce the Canaanite creation called, Organized Society, and indeed, we must Spit in the Face of this Evil Construct of Control, so that we may Bust Loose from their Collar, and become Sovereign once more...and we achieve all of this by Trusting in the Power of God, by Walking the Path of Discovery and Self-Righteousness laid out for us by Jesus the Christ... In the First Verse, Springsteen sets all of this up... 'Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland Got a head-on collision smashin' in my guts, man I'm caught in a crossfire that I don't understand But there's one thing I know for sure, girl I don't give a damn for the same old played-out scenes Baby, I don't give a damn for just the in-betweens Honey, I want the heart, I want the soul, I want control right now' We must come to realize that they have caught in a Crossfire that we don't fully Innerstand, but that we must be willing to Bust Loose from their Evil grip, and take back our own Sovereignty by reclaiming our Heart, our Soul, our Control...and in the second verse, Springsteen speaks to Doing our own Research into who and what is behind our Enslavement so that we may Bust Down their Door... 'Workin' in the fields till you get your back burned Workin' 'neath the wheel till you get your facts learned Baby, I got my facts learned real good right now You better get it straight, darling Poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king And a king ain't satisfied till he rules everything I wanna go out tonight, I wanna find out what I got' And when you come to this realization of the Canaanites, that even Kings aren't satisfied till they rule everything, then we Know that we are in a War for our very own Survival against an Enemy that wouldn't ever give us any quarter... The Song is Epic, as is the entire Album...it is Biblical, it is Allegorical, and it is the Truth...that we must become STRONG within ourselves by learning to Trust in God, and then we must face this Enemy of ours, wearing the Armor of God, so that Free Will Sovereignty may Reign Supreme once more...
