However, prolonged periods of drought can cause as much damage as the most severe natural disasters, causing crop failures, famine, and a water crisis. MAY – JULY 2023 ☀️ URUGUAY: For several months now, the capital of Uruguay has been experiencing its worst drought in at least 70 years. MONTEVIDEO and its surrounding areas, where more than half of the country's population resides, are gradually running out of drinking water. One of the tornadoes was the deadliest in Mississippi in half a century. It took the lives of at least 25 people and dozens more were injured. At least 13 neighborhoods were left without electricity and traffic was completely stopped due to the accumulation of water.
