(Description provided by General Cigar)
Punch will kick off The Year of the Rabbit with a limited-edition smoke called Spring Roll. The new release marks the fifth installment of the brand’s highly successful Chinese New Year Series which has included these sought-after Punch blends: Fu Manchu (2022), Kung Pow! (2021), Chop Suey (2020) and Egg Roll (2019).
John Hakim, brand manager of Punch said, “Punch Spring Roll is like a three-course meal: It delivers a great smoking experience in a size that really brings the blend to life, and it comes at a price point that hits the post-holiday sweet spot for cigar lovers. Paying homage to the original, Spring Roll is the yin to Egg Roll’s yang. Since the Year of the Rabbit is said to bring good fortune, we invite Punch fans to kick back and let the good times Spring Roll.”
Handmade at the HATSA factory in Danli, Honduras, Punch Spring Roll is a five-country blend featuring filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico and the USA (Broadleaf), with a USA Broadleaf binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The smoking experience is richly spiced, with notes of leather and a natural sweetness that comes from the cigar’s Ecuadoran-grown wrapper.
Punch Spring Roll cigars feature the signature shaggy foot and come in 25-count “takeout” boxes inspired by the packaging of Punch Egg Roll which kicked off the Chinese New Year series.
Limited to 5,000 boxes, Spring Roll will ship on February 1.
Punch Spring Roll (4.5” x 50) – SRP per cigar $5.99

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/02/diesel-atonement-toro-6-x-52.html
(Description provided by General Cigars)
Diesel Atonement is an unapologetically-bold, limited-edition smoke that’s an exclusive to TAA members.
Atonement marks another project in the collaboration between AJ Fernandez and Justin Andrews who created the smoke in response to feedback from leading retailers and Diesel fans.
Justin Andrews said, “The Diesel story continues to be written, not by AJ and me, but by the Diesel retailers and the fans of the brand who shop in their stores. They’ve been as supportive as they have been vocal, and they didn’t pull any punches when it came to telling us what they wanted for the TAA exclusive cigar this year. They asked for a full-bodied Nicaraguan smoke that balances strength and complexity, with a little something extra, and we delivered. We took the packaging to the next level and made the box to look like a classic novel. It’s our way of letting Diesel retailers and fans know that our story is their story, and there’s so much more to write.”
Diesel Atonement is made with an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a blend of Nicaraguan fillers. The cigar is intense, with a natural earthy sweetness, peppery notes and an unexpected current of anise that flows throughout.
Only 1,000 boxes of the full-bodied Diesel Atonement Toro have been made. The cigar comes in 10-count, novel-inspired boxes that began shipping this week to TAA retailers.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/02/jc-newman-el-baton-belicoso-5-x-56.html
(Description taken from jcnewman.com website)
El Baton is one of J.C. Newman’s vintage brands made by our founder, J.C. Newman, back in 1914. This nickel cigar was originally hand rolled in a Cleveland, Ohio factory with Cuban tobacco. Although it was popular for many years, the onset of machine-made cigars caused El Baton to disappear from the marketplace in the 1920s.
In 2008, J.C.’s grandsons, Eric and Bobby Newman, re-launched the brand as the company’s first Nicaraguan cigar. El Baton cigars are grown in the most fertile areas of Nicaragua, providing for a smooth, hearty smoke with a little spice. When it debuted, El Baton was only offered in one size, the Double Torpedo, since then the brand has grown to include three more sizes, a Double Toro, Robusto and Belicoso. Its return has been met with rave reviews and acclaim from a wide range of cigar enthusiasts including a 91 rating from Cigar Aficionado.
While it may have some history, don’t be fooled, this isn’t your grandfather’s stogie. This is the boldest cigar in our line. Made with full-bodied tobacco grown from some of the richest soils in Nicaragua, the El Baton has a spicy kick that creates a surprising experience.
The impact and flavor in this cigar can usually only be experienced for twice the price of the El Baton but keeping true to its motto, this cigar gives smokers something the true aficionado deserves.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/02/la-gloria-cubana-society-toro-625-x-54.html
(Description provided by Forged Cigar Co.)
La Gloria Cubana empowered its fans to develop the brand’s latest limited edition release. Called the La Gloria Cubana Society Cigar, the new expression is named after a special group of cigar smokers that interact with the brand regularly both online through the LGC website and offline through La Gloria activations across the US.
The La Gloria Cubana Society Cigar was developed with input from more than 2,000 of the brand’s most devoted fans from across the U.S. They consulted on the profile, packaging and size of the cigar in a collaborative process that spanned nearly a year.
“It’s been a pleasure to harness the Society’s passion for La Gloria and it’s an honor to provide them with a cigar that reflects what the brand represents to them. We look forward to collaborating with this great group of tenured smokers on future releases,” said Steve Abbot, director of marketing for La Gloria Cubana.
Handcrafted at the El Credito Cigar Factory, a stand-alone rolling gallery within General Cigar Dominicana, the La Gloria Cigar Society cigar is a Honduran puro, with filler tobacco from Jamastran and La Entrada, with a Jamastran binder and is crowned with a lustrous Olancho San Agustin wrapper. The medium to full-bodied smoke is brimming with notes of earth, nuts and coffee.
The cigars are available in one size, a box-pressed toro that’s presented in 20-count, wooden boxes. A total of 2,500 boxes will be released in early August and is being distributed by Forged Cigar Company.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/02/la-gloria-cubana-serie-s-robusto-gordo.html
(Description provided by Forged Cigar Co.)
La Gloria Cubana has debuted a new, full-time collection. Named “Serie S,” the line marks the first time a Mexican wrapper will be featured in a La Gloria blend.
Steve Abbot, director of marketing for La Gloria Cubana said, “Serie S combines large-ring formats, expert blending and fine craftsmanship in a medium-to-full-bodied smoke. We believe this new collection will be a well-received addition to the brand portfolio.”
For Serie S, the La Gloria Cubana blending team selected a Mexican San Andrés wrapper which is grown in potassium-rich volcanic soil. Following a prolonged, low-temperature fermentation, the Serie S wrapper bears a warm, golden brown color that hints at the slightly sweet, earthy qualities it imparts on the smoking experience. With a Nicaraguan binder and blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobacco, La Gloria Cubana Serie S also delivers leather, light spice and a pleasant aroma.
La Gloria Cubana Serie S is handcrafted at the El Credito Cigar Factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
La Gloria Cubana Serie S will debut with three sizes, packed in bold black cabinet-style boxes that each house 24 cigars.

(Description provided by Forged Cigar Co.)
Los Statos Deluxe has gotten an extreme makeover at the hands of Matt Booth, Justin Andrews and STG’s Honduran blending team. The new line is being crafted at STG’s HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras, and opens a new chapter for the well-respected brand.
Matt Wilson, senior brand manager for Los Statos Deluxe said, “When we decided two years ago to revamp Los Statos Deluxe, we opted to work with Matt Booth, to tap his creativity. This collaboration was fortuitous because we’re now presenting the new Los Statos Deluxe as our first release with Matt as a member of our team. We’ve ultimately taken a great brand and breathed new life into it by calling on modern imagery and a provocative blend that transitions as the smoke progresses. We believe we have all the elements in play to make Los Statos Deluxe a brand that everyone will be talking about this summer and beyond.”
Matt Booth noted, “I am honored to have the opportunity to lend my touch and collaborate on the direction of the revitalization of the Los Statos Deluxe brand. I believe that with this new expression, the stance that Los Statos Deluxe will take at retail will command the attention of both the traditionalist and pique the interest of the most discerning collectors simultaneously. It is heartfelt that as a bi-product of our efforts, the Los Statos Deluxe brand will continue to receive the respect is has long since earned.”
Los Statos Deluxe features proprietary Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a Nicaraguan binder and is crowned with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The blend comes together to deliver a layered experience that is both bold and smooth, offering coffee and chocolate notes, with subtle black pepper spice.
The line is being offered in four sizes to appeal to a range of smoking preferences. The cigars are presented in boxes containing 20 cigars each.

(Description provided by Ultimate Cigars Club)
"Liga 56 is quite the unique cigars. Originally it was going to be a traditional round cigar. But when I actually started to learn specifically about box pressed cigars I learned that the same cigar box pressed and round have completely different flavor profiles. And not to say that the traditional round Liga was not good just happened that for some reason when I got the feeling to box press Liga 56 it caught me by surprise how the blend came out. I am actually planning to release the original traditional round Liga 56 at some point towards the end of the year," said Carlos Nodal, owner of Ultimate Cigars Club.
The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro. The tobaccos in this blend have been aged over 6 years.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/02/hvc-la-rosa-520-rare-of-rare-6-x-52.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Nearly a year after the cigar was announced, HVC’s first U.S.-made cigar is finally shipping to stores.
The HVC La Rosa 520 Rare of Rare is made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami, the first time HVC Cigars has worked with the factory. It’s also the first time the company has worked with Dominican tobacco and medio tiempo tobacco. It’s offered in a single 6 x 52 belicoso size that uses an Ecuadorian Sumatran wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano binder and the fillers include Dominican criollo 98 and medio tiempo grown in Estelí, Nicaragua.
It has an MSRP of $20 per cigar and is limited to 500 boxes of 10 cigars.
HVC announced the cigar during the 2022 TPE trade show in late January. It was originally scheduled to ship in March.
Medio tiempo is a priming of tobacco—the way a plant is divided into sections vertically—that is found above the ligero priming, typically the highest priming. It’s only found on certain plans and only some growers go through the effort of classifying it separately from ligero. Given its position on the plant, if a plant has medio tiempo tobacco growing on it, that tobacco should be the strongest tobacco from that plant. In recent years, a variety of manufacturers have marketed their cigars as explicitly containing medio tiempo tobacco. Previously, that tobacco was typically classified as ligero.

Warped Cigars Devil's Hands

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/warped-cigars-devils-hands-6-x-44.html
(Description taken from cigaraficionado.com website)
This is the brand I’ve been wanting to create for many years,” says Kyle Gellis, the owner of Warped Cigars. Like something from a Faustian tale, Gellis recently went back to his old, hand-written blending books looking for inspiration until he finally had his “Eureka” moment. The final product is something called The Devil’s Hands, a one-size brand that should be out this fall. It’s made at the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Nicaragua, where many of Gellis’ cigars are rolled.
Gellis says the blend began a few months ago when he was puffing away at Aganorsa, smoking tobacco from Estelí. “This blend differs from my normal blending style due to the amount of Estelí tobacco I used in this classical 6 by 44,” Gellis says.
Different regions of Nicaragua are known for producing different types of tobacco and leaf from Estelí is often used in a blend for body and spice.
Packaged in boxes of 25, the all-Nicaraguan Devil’s Hands will only come in one size, a 6-inch-by-44-ring gauge lonsdale with a suggested retail price of $11. But don’t look for it at the PCA trade show next month. Warped will not be attending the convention. This year, Gellis says he prefers to use the time concentrating on production.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/espinosa-las-6-provincias-cmw-6-x-50.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The fourth installment in Espinosa Premium Cigars’ Las 6 Provincias series that celebrates the original six provinces of Cuba has shipped to retailers.
Called the Espinosa Las 6 Provincias CMW, the cigar honors Camagüey, using the airport code for Ignacio Agramonte International Airport in Camagüey for the cigar’s name. It is a 6 x 50 toro with an Ecuadorian habano wrapper atop a Nicaraguan binder and filler.
Pricing is set at $18 per cigar and $360 for a box of 20 cigars, with a total production of 1,000 boxes, which are produced by AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
Like the previous releases in the line, the boxes feature artwork by Cuban artist Edin Gutierrez, who is based in south Florida and has also worked with Espinosa on the Warzone line. For this release, the box features a pair of wings that extend from the lid and help create a historical scene from the Camagüey province.
Espinosa debuted the Las 6 Provincias line in 2018 with the LHB, which honored La Habana, following it up with the MTZ in 2019, a cigar that was named for Matanzas. After skipping 2020, the company released the Las 6 Provincias LV in honor of Las Villas in 2021. That leaves two remaining provinces, Oriente and Pinar del Río, which are expected to be released in subsequent years. Each cigar has its own blend and has thus far been released in a unique size, from a robusto extra to a toro gordo vitola.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/foundation-cigar-co-highclere-castle.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The latest cigar from Foundation Cigar Co. is on its way to stores, as the company has begun shipping the limited edition Highclere Castle Senetjer, which honors the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.
The cigar is a 6 3/4 x 52 perfecto that uses a 7th priming Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Brazilian mata fina binder, and a filler of undisclosed origin, though the company notes it is three-year-old tobacco. The Highclere Castle Senetjer is priced at $33 per cigar and $396 for a box of 12 cigars, though the boxes are anything but traditional.
The boxes were designed in collaboration with archaeologists Colleen and John Darnell, who created a box that replicated one found in the tomb, complete with Highclere Castle being translated in ancient hieroglyphics and inscribed on the facing of the box. The Senetjer line gets it name from the ancient Egyptian word for incense, which has been translated as “of the gods” and “that which makes holy.”
The tomb of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamen was discovered by the famed archeologist Howard Carter and funded by the great-grandfather of Lord Carnarvon George Herbert.
“I have been in love with the culture and history of Egypt since I was a little boy,” said Nicholas Melillo of Foundation Cigar Co. in a press release. “It is a great honor to work on this project with Lord Carnarvon and Adam von Gootkin. This product is truly something unique and special,” he added.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/caldwell-long-live-queen-7-x-38.html
(Description taken from cigaraficionado.com website)
Boutique brand owner Robert Caldwell is releasing a new line of cigars called Long Live the Queen, a regular production line of smokes that he says has been aging for the better part of a year after rolling. He expects to begin shipping in October.
Made in the Dominican Republic, Long Live the Queen is rolled at the El Maestro factory, a smaller factory owned by William Ventura. It’s a four-country blend consisting of a reddish-brown Cameroon cover leaf, a Sumatra binder grown in Indonesia and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.
The line will come in four sizes: Queen’s Sword, a lancero measuring 7 inches by 38 ring gauge ($14.50) (REVIEWED TODAY); Queen’s Court, a 5-by-52 robusto ($14); Queen’s Sceptre, a 6-by-50 toro ($15); and Queen’s Club, a vitola the company refers to as toro gordo measuring 6 by 56 ($16).
A fifth size called Ace of Hearts, which is box pressed and measures 6 by 52, will retail for $18. Production on that size will be capped at 700 boxes.
According to Caldwell, the cigars are medium-full in strength. All sizes will ship in white boxes of 10.
The new brand continues the royal theme from Caldwell, who also produces Long Live the King and The King is Dead.

CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/cao-amazon-basin-extra-anejo-6-x-52.html
(Description provided by General Cigar)
Named for the rare, Amazonian Rainforest-grown tobacco in its blend, CAO Amazon Basin is a small batch, limited edition expression that debuted in 2014 and remains one of the premium cigar category’s most memorable smokes. In January 2023, Amazon Basin will be taken to the next level with the release of CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo.
As the name suggests, Extra Añejo speaks to additional aging given to the Amazon Basin blend. The cigars were crafted in 2021 and left to mature in a room lined with fragrant Spanish cedar where, for two years, the tobaccos aged, mellowing some of the blend’s nuances, while making others more pronounced.
Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager of CAO said, “When we launched Amazon Basin, we were the first in the world to use tobacco from the Amazon. Today, CAO Amazon Basin still stands out as one of the most important blends we have ever developed. Since we never rest on our laurels, we decided to take a page from the whisky world and age the finished Amazon Basin cigars. The result is a smoke that is refined and rounded, and an absolute pleasure to smoke.”
CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo is centered on a tobacco varietal called “Bragança,” which is organically grown in an Amazonian rainforest and harvested just once every three years. Native farmers transplant the seedlings directly into the soil a full yard apart from each other, resulting in less than half the yield of other tobacco plants.
After harvest, artisans roll the leaves by hand into tubes called “carottes” where they undergo six months of natural fermentation. They are then transported out of the rainforest by canoe, taken to the mainland, and ultimately brought to the CAO factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
There, CAO’s blenders bring the aromatic Brazilian Bragança leaf to life, surrounding it with tobaccos curated from four different countries. Sheathed in a hearty Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper from the highest primings, with a Nicaraguan binder and a touch of Dominican and Colombian leaf in the filler, CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo is as exotic as the rainforest from which it originated.
Handcrafted at STG Esteli in Nicaragua, this medium-bodied blend is warm and earthy, with notes of wood and salted caramel.
CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo will be available starting in mid-January in 18-count rustic wooden boxes. For the 2023 release, 5,800 boxes have been made exclusively for the US market.
CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo (6” x 52) -- SRP per cigar $14.99
(Background)
I first reviewed the Amazon Basin when it was released in 2014. It wound up making my number 17 cigar for 2014. Then, it was re-released in 2016 and I reviewed it again. This time it hit my Number 1 cigar for 2016.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/diamond-crown-black-diamond-emerald-6-x.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Much like it did with the recently-released El Baton, J.C. Newman has updated its Diamond Crown Black Diamond line with new packaging and a stronger blend.
On paper, the blend appears the same as the one used when the cigar was introduced in 2016: it uses a Connecticut habano-seed wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers, made by Arturo Fuente in the Dominican Republic. That said, J.C. Newman says it tweaked the blend to make the Black Diamond stronger and more refined.
Packaging changes include less purple—which was previously used as the main accent color—a foot band, a matte finish to the boxes amongst other changes.
“My grandfather, Stanford J. Newman, told me that his father, J.C. Newman taught him that we should aim to do something better every day,” said Drew Newman, general counsel and fourth generation owner, in a press release in July. “Although our Diamond Crown Black Diamond cigars have been savored by cigar enthusiasts around the world for six years, I was not satisfied and wanted to make them better.”
It continues to be offered in the same three sizes:
Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant (4 1/2 x 54) — $18 (Box of 20, $360)
Diamond Crown Black Diamond Marquis (5 1/4 x 56) — $20 (Box of 20, $400)
Diamond Crown Black Diamond Emerald (6 x 52) — $21 (Box of 20, $420) REVIEWED TODAY
While the blend and packaging have changed, the prices remain the same.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/stolen-throne-phantom-queen-5-x-54.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Stolen Throne Cigars has released its first limited edition creation. The cigar is the Phantom Queen, a 5 x 54 petit belicoso that is made up of an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper covering Nicaraguan tobacco used in both the binder and filler. Production is handled at the Rojas Cigar Factory located in Estelí, Nicaragua.
According to Lee Marsh, co-owner of Stolen Throne, the company had planned to release the limited edition in late 2020, but it was put on hold due to COVID-19-related supply chain issues. The name, Phantom Queen, refers to the Celtic deity of death and war who would often appear as a warrior queen and a raven in the same story.
Phantom Queen is limited to 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars, for a total production of 15,000 cigars. The MSRP is set at $12 per cigar, or $120 per box.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/west-tampa-tobacco-co-attic-6-x-54-toro.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
After 24 years working with General Cigar Co., including 13 years as the blender and brand ambassador for the CAO brand, Rick Rodriguez has accumulated his share of stories and adventures in the cigar business. Now, he’s telling some of those stories by way of the West Tampa Tobacco Co. Attic Series, which has just begun shipping to stores.
The first cigar in the series, which is referred to as the Attic, is a 6 x 54 toro gordo that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with a binder grown in Nicaragua’s Condega region, while the filler comes from Condega and Estelí. It is billed as a medium-to-full bodied cigar, and is produced by the Garmendia Cigar Co. factory in Nicaragua, which also makes the company’s White and Black lines.
The company is producing 2,000 boxes of 14 cigars, and they will only be sold to retailers five boxes at a time. Pricing is set at $12.99 per cigar.
The packaging features an image of an old chaveta against a lone chair in an attic, which is a nod to Rodriguez’s grandfather, who made cigars both in Cuba and Tampa, Fla. The packaging for the Attic Series is said to feature a number of Easter eggs as well, while the foot band contains a QR code for the consumer to scan and learn more about the cigar and its story.
West Tampa Tobacco Co. has indicated that the second cigar in the Attic Series will be coming out in March or April of 2023.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/j-london-blue-telephone-booth-5-x-50.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
J. London Cigars’ newest limited edition, the Telephone Booth Series, has shipped to retailers.
The first cigar in the series is a 5 x 50 robusto that is called the Blue Telephone Booth. It uses a corojo wrapper, an olor binder, and a mix of broadleaf and criollo 98 fillers, though the countries of origin of those leaves are not being disclosed. It will come packaged in red butcher paper-wrapper bundles with a blue sticker of a phone booth.
Production is limited to 600 individually numbered bundles of five cigars, a total run of 3,000 cigars that is being produced at an undisclosed factory in the Dominican Republic. Jonathan Fiant of J. London Cigars said that it is a facility owned by a family with four generations of experience growing and processing tobacco, while the cigar was blended by “a master with over 40 years of experience in the industry.”
Pricing is set at $14.60 per cigar.
Fiant also previewed the next two releases in the series. The second blend will have a neon green sticker and will be a 6 x 56 toro gordo that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, while the third blend will have a pink sticker and will be a 4 1/2 x 54 petit robusto with a pigtail cap that uses a habano maduro wrapper. Both of those cigars, along with all the cigars in the Telephone Booth Series, will be priced at $14.60 per cigar. Those two cigars will have production runs of 3,000 and 4,000 cigars, respectively.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/viaje-honey-hand-grenades-katana-7-x-48.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Viaje has released their newest Honey & Hand Grenades vitola.
The cigar is called The Katana, and it is a 7 x 48 double corona-esque vitola. It will use the same all-Nicaraguan blend as the other sizes in the Honey & Hand Grenades line, which is highlighted by a criollo wrapper. Production numbers have not been disclosed, but the boxes come with the Edición Limitada secondary band, which has been used to indicate that a particular vitola is getting a small production. In a Facebook post, Farkas called it a “micro production.”
The Honey & Hand Grenades line debuted in 2012 and has previously been offered in three sizes, all of which feature a rounded cap but with a tapered foot reminiscent of a salomon, a vitola known as a diadema. The majority of the cigar is covered in a red foil paper that is designed to evoke the image of blood, as each of the vitolas is named for a bladed weapon, such as a knife or sword.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Viaje has released their newest Honey & Hand Grenades vitola.
The cigar is called The Katana, and it is a 7 x 48 double corona-esque vitola. In 2021, the company added the Honey & Hand Grenades Maduro, using a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper in place of the Nicaraguan criollo leaf. Although Viaje has not confirmed the wrapper I am assuming this cigar has the Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. The rest of the cigar is Nicaraguan. Production numbers have not been disclosed, but the boxes come with the Edición Limitada secondary band, which has been used to indicate that a particular vitola is getting a small production. In a Facebook post, Farkas called it a “micro production.”

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/viaje-holiday-blend-christmas-tree-2022.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Last year marked the first time since the Viaje Holiday Blend debuted in 2009 that the company did not release a Holiday Blend to stores. This year, Holiday Blend is returning in two different formats and most notably with a new wrapper.
Viaje has announced that the Holiday Blend (5 x 54) and Holiday Blend Christmas Tree (4 x 60) REVIEWED TODAY has shipped to stores. Both cigars use a Nicaraguan corojo 99 maduro wrapper, replacing the Nicaraguan criollo wrapper that has historically been used for the Holiday Blend. The binder and fillers are also from Nicaragua. The Holiday Blend 2022 has an MSRP of $10.66 per cigar while the Christmas Tree 2022 has an MSRP of $10 per cigar.
Viaje did not answer a question about where the cigars are made, but the corojo 99 maduro wrapper has been a popular choice of late for new blends coming from AGANORSA, a company Viaje has worked with in the past.
This year marks the first time since 2017 that there has been a Christmas Tree release. For those wondering, the company said on Instagram that it would not be releasing a Holiday Blend Candy Cane release, a baberpole version of Holiday Blend.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/casa-cuevas-sangre-nueva-toro-6-x-52.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Casa Cuevas has begun shipping Sangre Nueva, the company’s newest line and the first to be solely blended by Alec Cuevas, the company’s director of brand development and the fifth generation of the Cuevas family to be part of the company.
The blend uses a Cameroon-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador, a Honduran corojo binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Pennsylvania. In the filler, Cuevas opted to use a larger percentage of Pennsylvania broadleaf to give the cigar added strength. The company calls the blend’s profile medium to full bodied.
It is offered three vitolas:
Casa Cuevas Sangre Nueva Robusto (4 3/4 x 52) — $13 (Box of 10, $130)
Casa Cuevas Sangre Nueva Toro (6 x 52) — $13.50 (Box of 10, $135) REVIEWED TODAY
Casa Cuevas Sangre Nueva Double Perfecto (6 x 58) — $14.75 (Box of 10, $147.50)
The company produces the line at Tabacalera Las Lavas S.R.L., its factory in the Dominican Republic.
“The slogan “old traditions, new generation” signifies so much more to me than a passing of the family torch,” Alec Cuevas said via a press release. “It represents all the experiences I’ve ever been through in this industry, from working behind the counter selling my fellow manufacturer’s products, to spending my summers learning all there is to know about our factory from a very young age. Sangre Nueva is a personal love letter to my family, who placed their faith in me to create something from scratch given my knowledge of tobacco. It is also the culmination of patrons and distributors alike that took time out of their day to educate me and better help me define my palate throughout all these years. It’s been a blast creating such a savory blend, and I think it’s a perfect representation of the gratitude I have for this one-of-a-kind industry.”

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2022/12/la-flor-dominicana-solis-6-12-x-50-toro.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
In 2015, La Flor Dominicana released La Nox, a cigar blended by Litto Gomez’s son, Tony, that was a tribute to the night. Now, Litto’s younger son, Litto Jr., is celebrating the sun with a new cigar called Solis, a cigar that the 22-year-old developed with his father and older brother.
Like La Nox, Solis is a 6 1/2 x 50 toro extra, but the blend is quite different. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian habano leaf, the binder an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf, while the filler is Dominican and comes La Flor Dominicana’s La Canela farm. The company calls the profile “power and charismatic with bright flavors nuanced through a range of spices that make it unique yet undeniably LFD.”
“I was inspired by my big brother’s project La Nox and I wanted to create something that contrasted it,” said Litto Gomez Jr. in a press release. “We have pretty different personalities and I thought that the sun and moon were a perfect metaphor to describe us.”
The younger Gomez worked with his father on the blend of the project, while his older brother helped with the project’s artwork.
Pricing is set at $13.20 per cigar, and it will be offered in 20-count boxes priced at $252. Both La Nox and Solis use a circular box design, though with very different color schemes and designs.
Like La Nox, Solis will be a limited production release. That means that while it is not limited to a certain number of cigars, it will not be regular produced due to limitations on the raw materials.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2022/12/rocky-patel-edge-20th-anniversary.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The company has begun shipping The Edge 20th Anniversary, a new blend that commemorates two decades of the company’s popular The Edge. For this release, Rocky Patel—the company’s founder—said he went back and blended around The Edge’s original wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra varietal. The end result is a 10-year-old wrapper over a Honduran habano binder and fillers from Honduras and Panama.
Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Robusto (5 1/2 x 50) — $11 (Box of 20, $220) REVIEWED TODAY
Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Toro (6 x 52) — $12 (Box of 20, $240)
Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary Sixty (6 x 60) — $13.50 (Box of 20, $270)
The Edge was launched in 2004, though this release marks the 20th anniversary of when the company began working on the project. Rocky Patel currently makes The Edge in seven other variations: A-10, Candela, Connecticut, Corojo, Habano, Maduro and Sumatra.
Like the original The Edge, the 20th Anniversary is made at El Paraiso in Honduras.
