Reloading for Accuracy
Using the example of reloading for a .300 Winchester, Randy discusses strategies for reloading for accuracy, which applies to all calibers. Keep in mind the powders, cases, primers and bullets he is mentioning are examples for the .300 Winchester. Also, as he reiterates, what may work well in one rifle may not be “digested” well in another just like it. God bless!

Our Wildlife, Our Government Pt 2
We are so very, very concerned about the impact the wolves have had on our area wildlife, as well as others, that we feel it is important to cover more ground. Especially as Colorado will have on the ballet the fall of 2020 to "reintroduce" [when it should be "introduce"] the Canadian grey wolf.
Wherever you live, this is currently affecting you or will, as the push is in place here and elsewhere to eliminate the "need" to hunt by eliminating the game to hunt.
Make no mistake, if we have no game to hunt it will be easier to brainwash people into thinking we no longer need firearms.

Case Trimming
Originally premiered on Patreon Feb, 2020:
Randy demonstrates his method for trimming a rifle case, using a 6MM PPC case, on one of his lathes.
And NO, he is in no danger working on this lather or his other by wearing long sleeve shirts. He operates very, very safely, has been doing this for over 50 years, wearing long sleeves at his machinery in cool/cold months, and never even a close call. Because he knows how to operate safely while wearing long sleeves.

Dancing Clouds: Do You Really Know What is Going on Downwind?
The Real Gunsmith’s Wife, Cathy, shares a video of dancing clouds. Taken on a day when the wind was strong from the west, despite that, cloud formations over Rattlesnake and Cedar Mountains west of Cody, WY. This video is a good indication that despite all the gidgets, gadgets and apps a person may have to aid in long range shooting, there is nothing that can indicate any better than clouds what the wind is doing down range. Where this was shot, the wind was 30 mph with gusts of 5-10mph stronger, blowing TOWARDS the clouds. By talking with other area individuals, this cloud dance lasted for several hours, and did not effect the cloud formation over the two mountains, which it was blowing directly towards.

Grizzly Tales, Part 2
Thumbnail image was generated on Bing AI image generator by Cathy, The Real Gunsmith’s Wife.
Randy shares a hair-raising story of friends, one he’s known for about 56 years, another over 30 years, and the third in the party, who he knows of.
Names are not mentioned to protect them from harassment from internet keyboard warriors.
During the course of their elk hunt they had two grizzlies charge into grab the elk they were getting ready to pack out. One had to be killed, to preserve their lives, in extremely close quarters. They have been exonerated by both US Fish and Wildlife and WY Game & Fish as having acted in self-defense, no charges were levied against them, rightly so.
Two of the hunters have told the events to Randy and Cathy, in detail.
They are all fortunate that they were able to get out of the events alive and unharmed, due to their quick thinking and reflexes.

Operate Actions Properly
Because we’ve gotten a lot of calls and emails from clients and prospective clients that seem to be having trouble with their Model 70 actions, for the most part, but other actions also, Randy is talking about why the Model 70 actions and others, must be operated for the way they were designed, not some preconceived idea of how someone thinks it should be, despite evidence to the contrary.
In this video he uses a pre-64 Model 70 to demonstrate how NOT to operate the action to feed the cartridges and how to properly work this action, and others. He also covers other bolt action rifles, and lever action rifles.
If you have issues you can’t correct, Randy would be glad to trouble shoot issues for you, but without a rifle in hand, it is impractical to thoroughly diagnose issues with a rifle, as there may be things a client overlooks in relaying information about the rifle and issue in question.

Federal TLR Edge
The Federal TLR Edge was not out when Randy did a previous in-depth video about bullet construction and performance. He goes over the many reasons he likes the bullet and its performance. He also tells about the rifle our friend and mentor, Les Bowman, gave Randy years ago and told Randy to build a rifle for Cathy with it. Ole' Meat in the Pot rifle he built with that action, is a prized hunting rifle with a long and productive history both for Les and now for Cathy.

Remington Triggers
By popular request, The Real Gunsmith talks about the issues that came about to give, and rightly so, Remington triggers, a bad name, that has led to many lawsuits an sportsmen’s distrust of the Remington triggers. Randy discusses what he’s seen and experienced, what the issues have been and how the issues should be addressed. Randy also points out issues that can and do arise with other triggers when rifles are improperly stored.

Game & Fish & Hunters Failure
While we feel the WY G & F has been very irresponsible and the cause of the decline of hunting privileges in our area, we also feel that complacent hunters and especially special interest hunting groups have been at fault for not being proactive to protect our hunting heritage by protecting our hooved game species over fanged predators. Yes, Randy has talked about this before. But this is an urgent matter. It may not be happening in YOUR part of the world yet, but we hear from people in other parts of our country and many others who are experiencing the same decline in big game hunting as predators are covered with layers of protection. Become involved. Speak out. God bless!

Scope Facts
Randy discusses the pros and cons of different sized scopes, the objective, light gathering capabilities, and many aspects of using the scope in hunting situations, but he does not cover the cross hairs, hashes, dots, etc. in this video.
He also recounts his work at Burris and working with Don Burris, an opportunity that gives him a deeper insight to the interior workings of scopes.
Overall, his go to recommendation will be, and has been for years, Leupold scopes. A wide range of scopes for any shooter. USA made and customer service second to none.

The Importance of Bullet Choices
Because of the many people calling and emailing Randy asking about the proper bullets for their hunting needs, he has chosen to cover this topic again. Other videos cover different aspects, and specific calibers.
At the end of this year, the infamous 2020, we want to thank all of our followers and subscribers. All who have reached out to us to share your experiences and those who have chosen to have Randy do some work, whether custom repairs or a build for a custom rife: THANK YOU! We are truly humbled and gratified by you all. God bless you, keep you safe and well.

Savy Reloading Advice
Randy discusses why it is important to try different components and in different configurations, to get the best accuracy for your rifle. He shows a target with shots from two rifles, both which did not shoot well with the components he started with. By making some subtle changes in components, adjusting what he paired together. The .300 Win. Mag shot, with many combination trials, a .486 group and the .257 Wby. Mag., after much trial and error, shot a .593 group, in a stiff cross breeze.
Both of these calibers are ones he has successfully used other components for, but neither of these rifles wanted to digest those combinations.
The patience, determination and keeping a good record over all of these years help him find a good load.

Accuracy Considerations
Randy presents some valuable information on different aspects of what it takes to accurize a factory rifle, or build a superior custom rifle. Because of many calls and emails he delves deeply into why there are some inaccuracies with some calibers, and what needs to be done.
As well as talking about the different aspects that goes into seeing to every detail to make a rifle as accurate as possible, Randy goes over different reasons there are spec issues in certain calibers, what needs to be watched for and what can be done.
