Ukrainian artillery destroys Russian forces vehicles
Description
Ukrainian artillery destroys Russian forces vehicles
Ukrainian artillery taking out a large group of Russian forces including multiple vehicles and joking that they are helping them to provide more "gestures of goodwill".
The footage, shot from a drone, appears to show at least seven Russian tanks and armoured personnel carriers hiding among civilian buildings along a road.
The area is then apparently shelled by Ukrainian artillery units, reportedly resulting in the destruction of the Russian tanks and other vehicles.
The footage was obtained from the 40th Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces - officially the '40th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Grand Duke Vytautas' - on Thursday, 7th July, along with a statement saying: "Thunder and flames! A couple more gestures of goodwill from Muscovites with the help of the 40th Artillery Brigade."
The footage was also relayed by the Office of Strategic Communications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that the Russian withdrawal from Snake Island in the Black Sea - which is now flying the Ukrainian flag again - was a planned “gesture of goodwill”, leading Ukrainian forces, who shelled their positions for days, to begin jokingly using the expression as a euphemism for retreat or, as appears to be the case here, obliteration.
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 134th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 7th July, Russia had lost about 36,650 personnel, 1,602 tanks, 3,797 armoured combat vehicles, 815 artillery units, 247 multiple launch rocket systems, 107 air defence systems, 217 warplanes, 187 helicopters, 667 drones, 155 cruise missiles, 15 warships, 2,665 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 66 units of special equipment.
Russian forces are intensifying their attacks in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. Civilians are fleeing Sloviansk as Russian forces push towards the city. This comes after the Donetsk regional governor, Pavlo Kyrylenko, urged 350,000 civilians to evacuate the area.
British intelligence has said that the battle for Sloviansk will probably be the next key target for Russian forces. The UK Ministry of Defence said that Russian forces “from the Eastern and Western Groups of Forces are likely now around 16 kilometres north from the town of Sloviansk. With the town also under threat from the Central and Southern Groups of Forces, there is a realistic possibility that the battle for Sloviansk will be the next key contest in the struggle for the Donbas.”
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that heavy weapons from Ukraine’s western allies have finally started working at “full capacity” on the frontlines, with Ukraine’s General Staff denying Russian claims that two US-supplied HIMARS light multiple rocket launchers had been destroyed. They instead said that the weapons were being used to inflict “devastating blows” on the invading forces.
Luhansk’s regional governor Serhiy Haidai has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of carrying out a scorched earth policy, “burning down and destroying everything on their way” as resistance remains strong in villages around the city of Lysychansk, which recently fell to Russian forces.
The Russian parliament is rushing through two new bills to impose strict controls on the country’s economy and require that businesses supply the armed forces.
The United Nations has said that nearly 9 million people have now left Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s invasion. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova has said that the country is investigating over 21,000 Russian war crimes committed since the beginning of the invasion.

Description
Russian forces brutally shell towns in eastern Ukraine's Donba
RUSSIAN forces brutally shell towns in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region ahead of expected new offensive.
At least one person was killed and several wounded in a Russian air strike on the heart of the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk on Thursday (July 7).
Local authorities said the missile damaged six buildings including a hotel and an apartment bloc in the large industrial hub.
The nearby city of Sloviansk, also in the Donetsk region, also came under fire. Mayor Vadym Lyakh said there had been casualties but gave no further details.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, did not immediately comment on the situation in Kramatorsk or Sloviansk. It has denied deliberately targeting civilians.

Ukrainian troops capture and fly flag from Russian Z tank
A RUSSIAN infantry fighting vehicle now flying Ukrainian colours after it was reportedly captured by brave reservist troops while under tank and mortar fire.
The images show the originally Russian military vehicle sporting a white letter 'Z' daubed on it. But now it also flies Ukraine's instantly recognisable blue and yellow national flag.
The footage, obtained from the Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defense Forces "East" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Wednesday, 6th July, shows Ukrainian troops driving the vehicle, a BMP-3, at speed.
The BMP-3 was first introduced into military service by the Soviets in 1987. It is not unlike a light tank, with the version seen in the footage fitted with a turret and gun, and running on caterpillar tracks.

Russia should be ready to use nuclear weapons', says Belarus' Lukashenko

'Russia should be ready to use nuclear weapons', says Belarus' Lukashenko
BELARUS dictator Alexander Lukashenko has made clear he is poised to accept Russian nuclear missiles on his territory but warned Vladimir Putin this doesn’t mean he is being swallowed in the Kremlin leader’s military expansion.
The siting of atomic weapons in the landlocked state will ominously bring them closer to NATO countries.
Lukashenko claimed in a meeting with Putin’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov that he was against war with the West, and saw the expected deployment as a deterrent.
He likened the current crisis to 1941 when the Germans invaded the Soviet Union, grabbing today’s Belarus.
“The warehouses with nuclear ammunition are in Russia, we do not have any yet,” he said, even though preparations are evidently underway at a former Soviet nuclear base to reopen a facility.

Hundreds of Ukrainian troops receive missile training from British Army
Description
Hundreds of Ukrainian troops receive missile training from British Army
MORE than 450 troops were taught how to use a range of weapons by the British Army, including the Multiple Launch Rocket Systems - which Britain is supplying to Ukraine.
Media were invited to Salisbury plain, in southern England, where the exercises were taking place.
The training is part of a wide-ranging international support package following Russia's invasion in February.
Captain James Oliphant of the Royal Artillery was involved in the three-week long training of the MLRS:
"At the end of the day, it's another component to their own balance, it's a force multiplier. Because it's a truck vehicle, their rocket systems are wheeled, it's going to give them more mobility, which is going to aid in their survivability. Naturally, it's an ammunition that's able to punch up to 84 kilometers."

Texas police find 46 migrants' 'stacked bodies' in deadly people smuggling disaster
AT least 46 migrants have been found dead in the back of a truck that reached an estimated 150F (65C) as cops discovered stacks of bodies following desperate cries for help.
Another 16 people - including four children - were rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the horrifying discovery in San Antonio, Texas.
Forty-six people were found dead inside the tractor-trailer, reports say.
The horror discovery was made after a worker heard a cry for help - leading to "stacks of bodies" being found inside the vehicle, the San Antonio Police Department said.
San Antonio has recorded temperatures of 100F (37.8C) or more on 17 days this month.
It's estimated that the temperature inside the vehicle was around 150F (65C).
Three suspects were taken into custody following the deadly discovery, but it is unclear if they are "absolutely connected to this or not," SAPD Chief William McManus said.
Police said they found 16 victims - 12 adults and four kids - conscious in the back of the truck and rushed them to local hospitals.
It's understood the survivors are "fighting for their lives" in hospital suffering from severe heat stroke and exhaustion.
"The patients that we saw were hot to the touch... no signs of water in the vehicle or visible working AC inside," the city’s fire chief Charles Hood said.

Description
Multiple Russian rocket launchers 'hit Ukrainian targets'
Russia has claimed that these images show multiple rocket launcher vehicles hitting Ukrainian targets.
The footage appears to show Russian soldiers deploying BM-21 'Grad ' vehicles and calibrating their targeting apparatus before they open fire.
The images apparently show one of the vehicles, sporting a 'Z' on its side, firing a salvo of missiles at unknown targets before moving to another location as the footage ends.
The 'Z' is one of the symbols, as well as the letters 'V' and 'O' that can be seen painted on Russian military vehicles taking part in the invasion of Ukraine.
In the footage, a soldier named only as Vladislav by Russian state media, says: "Our rocket artillery battery is successfully fulfilling combat missions to defeat the enemy. He does not sleep with us. Therefore, it is necessary to perform these missions at different locations.
"Accordingly, we often change our firing positions in order to prevent the defeat of our personnel and the destruction of our equipment.
"Therefore, we have to work in different conditions, day and night. We arrive, take up a firing position, determine several planned or unplanned targets, fold up and change our location. We are all accustomed to it, we are all trained. The staff is already trained. We do everything very quickly, everything is very manoeuverable."
The Russian MoD claimed in a statement obtained on the morning of Monday, 27th June, that the images show "the combat work of the crews of 'Grad' multiple launch rocket systems of the Western Military District in the performance of firing missions to destroy the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
They added: "After the strike, the crews of the MLRS leave the firing position. The reloading of the MLRS BM-21 "Grad" is carried out in the reserve area, after which they move to a new firing position to strike at newly identified targets.
We have not been able to independently verify the Russian Ministry of Defence's (MoD) claims or the footage.

Ukraine forces SHOOT DOWN Russian attack helicopter with UK rocket launcher
Description
Ukraine forces SHOOT DOWN Russian attack helicopter with UK rocket launcher
This footage reportedly shows a Ukrainian paratrooper shooting down a Russian attack helicopter with a well-aimed shot from a British-made Starstreak rocket launcher.
The footage shows a Ukrainian soldier with a shoulder-held, Starstreak rocket launcher standing by some trees. He fires his weapon and the person filming zooms in, revealing what appears to be the Russian attack helicopter in the distance.
After a few seconds, the missile appears to hit the helicopter, bringing it down as the Ukrainian soldiers cheer.
The soldiers can be heard saying (in Ukrainian): "It hit! You hit it! Good boy! F**king beautiful! You hit it! It's going down, we will see smoke now. Fall, you b*tch! Let us see the smoke!"
The footage was obtained from the Command of the Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the morning of Tuesday, 28th June, along with a statement saying: "Zhytomyr paratroopers shot down a Russian Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopter.
"A Russian Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance and strike helicopter was shot down by a serviceman of the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine using the Starstreak MANPADS [missile system]."
They added: "Death to the Russian occupiers! DShV [the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces] - Always First!"
They signed off with a "Slava Ukraini!" ("Glory to Ukraine!").
The footage was also relayed by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, along with a statement saying: "With a well-aimed shot from the Stasrstreak MANPADS, our 95th Airborne Assault Brigade landed a Ka-52 helicopter of the occupiers!
"There is no place for Russian invaders in Ukraine. Beat the enemy on all fronts! We will win!"
They also said the footage showed the "spectacular 'landing' of the Russian 'Alligator'."
The Russian-built Kamow Ka-52 "Alligator" is a versatile attack helicopter. It is a modified variant of the Ka-50 "Black Shark".
Starstreak is a British, short-range, surface-to-air missile system that is often deployed as a man-portable air-defence system (MANPADS).
The UK is providing Ukraine with Starstreak systems, the UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, told the House of Commons on 25th April.
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 125th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 28th June, Russia had lost about 35,250 personnel, 1,567 tanks, 3,704 armoured combat vehicles, 778 artillery units, 243 multiple launch rocket systems, 102 air defence systems, 217 warplanes, 185 helicopters, 636 drones, 139 cruise missiles, 14 warships, 2,589 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 61 units of special equipment.
The Russian bombing on a shopping mall in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk has been described by President Zelenskyy as one of the "most brazen terrorist acts in European history". Over 1,000 people are said to have been inside the building when it was hit by missiles.
At least 14 missiles hit the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as G7 leaders met in Bavaria, in Germany, at the beginning of a three-day summit. Military support for Ukraine is at the top of the agenda. The G7 is made up of Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. G7 leaders described the shopping mall missile strike as "abominable".
NATO is planning to boost its quick reaction forces from 40,000 troops to over 300,000 troops. World leaders are set to approve plans to increase the number of NATO troops on high alert at a summit in Madrid.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is meeting Finland's Sauli Niinisto and Magdalena Andersson of Sweden at the NATO summit in Madrid to try to resolve their issues.
Russian missiles have also hit the central city of Cherkasy, as well as the strategically vital port city of Odesa.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the G7 leaders and said that he wanted the war to end before the end of the year. He repeated his request for anti-aircraft defence systems, as well as further sanctions on Russia. He also repeated his request for help to export grain from Ukraine.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says the Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a knock-on effect on the cost of living around the world.
