Ukrainian 'Kraken' special ops destroy Russian headquarters
Description
Ukrainian 'Kraken' special ops destroy Russian headquarters
Ukraine has said that its 'Kraken' Special Ops unit has destroyed a Russian headquarters.
The footage appears to show a building with Russian soldiers coming and going in and out of it before it suddenly blows up. It is currently unclear where exactly in Ukraine the images were filmed.
The video was obtained from the Ukrainian Special Forces unit 'Kraken' along with a short statement on Tuesday, 28th June, saying: "The artillery of our unit continues to destroy the occupiers. This time the enemy headquarters was struck."
The Kraken unit is a peculiar special forces unit that answers to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine but is not officially part of the country's Armed Forces, operating in something of a grey zone.
The information was also relayed by the Strategic Communications Department (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along with a short statement saying: "Happy Victory Day to all. Glory to Ukraine!"
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 125th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 28th June, Russia had lost about 35,250 personnel, 1,567 tanks, 3,704 armoured combat vehicles, 778 artillery units, 243 multiple launch rocket systems, 102 air defence systems, 217 warplanes, 185 helicopters, 636 drones, 139 cruise missiles, 14 warships, 2,589 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 61 units of special equipment.
The Russian bombing on a shopping mall in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk has been described by President Zelenskyy as one of the "most brazen terrorist acts in European history". Over 1,000 people are said to have been inside the building when it was hit by missiles.
At least 14 missiles hit the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as G7 leaders met in Bavaria, in Germany, at the beginning of a three-day summit. Military support for Ukraine is at the top of the agenda. The G7 is made up of Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. G7 leaders described the shopping mall missile strike as "abominable".
NATO is planning to boost its quick reaction forces from 40,000 troops to over 300,000 troops. World leaders are set to approve plans to increase the number of NATO troops on high alert at a summit in Madrid.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is meeting Finland's Sauli Niinisto and Magdalena Andersson of Sweden at the NATO summit in Madrid to try to resolve their issues.
Russian missiles have also hit the central city of Cherkasy, as well as the strategically vital port city of Odesa.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the G7 leaders and said that he wanted the war to end before the end of the year. He repeated his request for anti-aircraft defence systems, as well as further sanctions on Russia. He also repeated his request for help to export grain from Ukraine.
The eastern Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk is now in Russian hands after Ukrainian troops were ordered to retreat following weeks of siege.

Ukrainian forces destroy Russian tank & two armoured vehicles
Description
Ukrainian forces destroy Russian tank & two armoured
Ukrainian artillery taking out two Russian armoured personnel carriers and a tank.
The footage appears to show the three vehicles, two MT-LB armoured personnel carriers and one T-72B tank, being destroyed.
The images first show the two armoured personnel carriers being hit, reportedly by Ukrainian artillery ordnance, before the tank is also hit and apparently destroyed.
It is currently unclear where exactly in Ukraine the images were filmed, but they were obtained from the 40th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is based in the city of Pervomaisk, in the southern Mykolaiv Oblast region in peacetime.
The operation was also reportedly carried out by the 92nd Mechanized Brigade, which has been fighting in the eastern Donbas region since 2014.
The 40th Separate Artillery Brigade, officially the '40th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Grand Duke Vytautas', said in a statement on Sunday, 26th June: "Thunder and flame! Demilitarisation is clearly on track."
And the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the images show the "joint combat work performed by 40th Separate Artillery Brigade and the 92nd Mechanized Brigade."
The General Staff added: "Let's win together!"
While the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the images show the "joint work on the demilitarisation of the occupiers by 40th Separate Artillery Brigade and the 92nd Mechanized Brigade."
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 124th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 27th June, Russia had lost about 35,000 personnel, 1,552 tanks, 3,687 armoured combat vehicles, 771 artillery units, 243 multiple launch rocket systems, 101 air defence systems, 217 warplanes, 184 helicopters, 636 drones, 137 cruise missiles, 14 warships, 2,575 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 60 units of special equipment.
At least 14 missiles have hit the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, according to Ukrainian offficials. The strikes come as G7 leaders meet in Bavaria, in Germany, for a three-day summit. Military support for Ukraine is at the top of the agenda. The G7 is made up of Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Other missiles have reportedly hit the central city of Cherkasy, as well as the strategically vital port city of Odesa.
Russian troops have been accused of pillaging vast quantities of grain from farmers in occupied areas of Ukraine, as well as other crops including sunflower seeds. They have also been accused of stealing fertiliser and agricultural equipment.
The eastern Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk is now in Russian hands after Ukrainian troops were ordered to retreat following weeks of siege.
The United Kingdom and the United States, as well as Japan and Canada, are set to ban imports of Russian gold. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the ban will “strike at the heart of Putin’s war machine”.

Russian tank blown up while navigating Ukrainian minefield
Description
Russian tank blown up while navigating Ukrainian
MOMENT unsuspecting Russian tank navigating a Ukrainian minefield is blown to pieces as soldiers watch on.
The images first show two Russian tanks making their way across a ploughed field.
Although there is a road running parallel just next to them it appears to be blocked by wreckage of an earlier incident and as a result, the tanks head over the field in single file.
Suddenly, the first tank apparently hits a mine, causing a large explosion. The vehicle comes to a stop, with the second tank stopping a safe distance behind it. A third tank can be seen having joined the convoy a short distance behind the second tank.
The footage then cuts to what appears to be a Russian military vehicle having made its way close to where the tank at the head of the convoy blew up, perhaps in a bid to rescue any soldiers still alive inside it.

Ukraine forces fire US long-range rocket systems at Russian targets
Description
Ukraine forces fire US long-range rocket systems at Russian targets
Ukraine forces fire US long-range rocket systems at Russian targets.
Video uploaded on social media on Friday allegedly shows US long-range rocket systems being fired by Ukrainian troops from an undisclosed location in Ukraine.
Ukraine said on Thursday (June 23) it had received U.S. supplies of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), a powerful long-range weapon system that Kyiv hopes can help turn the tide on Russia's invasion.
The uploader of the video describes the weapon as a M142 HIMARS.
Reuters was not able to verify the location or date the video was filmed. The video shows the firing of what purports to be a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The shape of the weapon matches file images of the rocket system.
Washington has said it has received assurances from Kyiv that those longer-range weapons would not be used to attack Russian territory, fearing an escalation of the conflict.
Moscow's forces are advancing in Ukraine's east in a bid to capture the industrial heartland known as the Donbas where Ukraine fears some of its troops could be encircled in a Russian pincer.
Moscow has warned it will strike targets in Ukraine which they "have not yet been hitting" if the West supplies longer-range missiles to Ukraine for use in high-precision mobile rocket systems.

Putin mocked over topless photos by Boris Johnson as world leaders gather for G7
BORIS Johnson and Canada's Justin Trudeau openly mocked Mad Vlad Putin as world leaders gathered in Germany for the G7.
With the situation in Ukraine top of the agenda at the annual talks high in the Bavarian mountains, the Kremlin tyrant was the butt of early jokes for his bizarre photo ops shooting bears and riding topless.
At the start of talks between the leaders of the industrial powers, the PM declared “we have to show that we’re tougher than Putin" as he took off jacket.
And the Canadian PM quipped back suggesting they go for a “bare chested horseback ride", with BoJo adding: "show our pecks".
Mr Johnson used his first meeting on the fringes of the Summit to warn France's President Macron not to go soft of Ukraine or urge Voldoymer Zelensky into an unfair peace settlement.
The PM warned “any attempt to settle the conflict now will only cause enduring instability and give Putin licence to manipulate both sovereign countries and international markets in perpetuity.”

Boris Johnson urges G7 leaders to help Ukraine beat Putin
Description
Boris Johnson urges G7 leaders to help Ukraine beat Putin
BORIS Johnson told world leaders at the G7 that they must all chip in to help an Iraq-style “surge” to help Ukraine defeat Putin, The Sun can reveal.
The PM said more heavy arms, intelligence and training were needed to help hero President Zelensky “score a goal before half time” against the Russian invaders.
Yesterday BoJo arrived at the Bavarian summit to warn the West must not go soft on support for Ukraine - or risk giving succor to other global baddies like China.
Suggesting the war risks descending in stalemate, he said: “We should think of it as a surge.”
US General David Petraeus coined the “surge” tactic to break deadlock in the war in Iraq in 2007 with a massive influx of arms and troops to tackle insurgency.
The plea came during a meeting with President Macron on Sunday morning, where the PM warned “any attempt to settle the conflict now will only cause enduring instability and give Putin licence to manipulate both sovereign countries and international markets in perpetuity.”
As Russian missiles exploded in Ukraine’s capital Sunday, leaders from the G7 – the Group of Seven rich democracies - gathered for a summit in Germany.
U.S. President Joe Biden condemned the Kyiv strike as, “Just more of this barbarism.”
As Europe's biggest land conflict since World War Two enters its fifth month, the Western alliance supporting Kyiv has been starting to show signs of strain, with leaders fretting about the growing economic cost.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged the West to stay united.
“You know, this is something that is worth us standing up for together. And that is the principle that a free, independent, sovereign country like Ukraine should not be violently invaded and should not have its boundaries changed by force.”

Ukraine's Zelensky appeals for more aid against Russian air strikes
Description
Ukraine's Zelensky appeals for more aid against Russian
UKRAINE'S President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed for more aid against brutal Russian air strikes last night.
In his nightly address the president said that his “partners need to move faster if they are really partners, not observers” saying that within 24 hours Russia had fired 72 weapons. He said leaders meeting at the G7 summit in Germany had the potential to stop Russian "aggression. "
Russia has stepped up air strikes on Ukraine this weekend, which has also seen the fall of a strategic eastern city to pro-Russian forces.
"It's more of their barbarism," said U.S. President Biden, referring to the missile strikes on Kyiv, as leaders from the Group of Seven (G7) rich democracies gathered for a summit in Germany.

Ukraine war, Russia aims to 'destroy' Donbas says Zelensky
Description
Ukraine war, Russia aims to 'destroy' Donbas says Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of trying to "destroy" the Donbas region.
"There were massive air and artillery strikes in Donbas. The occupier's goal here is unchanged, they want to destroy the entire Donbas step-by-step," Mr Zelensky said in his nightly video address.
He also repeated his calls for Western leaders to speed up the delivery of heavy artillery to his troops.
"We again and again emphasise the acceleration of arms deliveries to Ukraine. What is quickly needed is parity on the battlefield in order to halt this diabolical armada and push it beyond Ukraine's borders," he said.
UKRAINE'S President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the European Union's expected offer of candidate status for his battle-weary nation, as Russian forces pounded Ukraine's second-biggest city Kharkiv and the eastern Donbas region.
Zelensky said how he had been conversing with European leaders since the morning for "the sake of a positive decision on the candidacy for Ukraine," with talks expected to continue.
European leaders will formally set Ukraine on the long road to EU membership at a summit in Brussels on Thursday (June 23). Though mainly symbolic, the move will help lift national morale at a very difficult time in a four-month conflict that has killed thousands, displaced millions and flattened towns and cities.

Description
Sarmat ballistic missile to be deployed by end of 2022 says Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Moscow will further strengthen and modernise its armed forces, including deploying its newly tested Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) by the end of 2022.
Putin made the comments on Tuesday in a televised meeting with military academy graduates amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
“It is planned that by the end of the year, the first such complex will be on combat duty,” Putin told the graduates, referring to the Russian-developed ICBMs that are capable of carrying 10 or more nuclear warheads and decoys.
Russia successfully tested the missile in April, unnerving some observers at a time of heightened tensions that has again raised the prospect of nuclear confrontation with the West.
The deployment will come as part of a larger build-up of Russia’s military, Putin said, adding that troops have already begun to receive S-500 air defence and missile defence systems “that have no match in the world”.
Russia has been revamping its air defence systems with the S-500s, which can be rapidly deployed and can intercept at long range aircraft, hypersonic missiles and ICBMs.

Lithuania 'ready' for Moscow RETALIATION over EU blockade of Kaliningrad
Description
Lithuania 'ready' for Moscow RETALIATION over EU blockade of Kaliningrad
Lithuania is 'prepared' if Russia disconnects it from the regional power grid in retaliation for blocking rail shipments of some Russian goods to Moscow's Kaliningrad exclave the president said on Wednesday.
He spoke after the Kremlin warned Lithuania on Tuesday, that Moscow would respond to the ban on the transit of goods sanctioned by the EU to Kaliningrad in such a way that citizens of the Baltic state would feel the pain.
With relations between Moscow and the West at a half-century low over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Lithuania banned the transit of goods sanctioned by the European Union across its territory to and from Kaliningrad, citing EU sanction rules.
Kaliningrad is sandwiched between NATO members Poland and Lithuania and supplied by rail via the territory of Lithuania.
Lithuania shut the route for transport of steel and other ferrous metals from mainland Russia on Saturday (June 18) saying it had to do so under EU sanctions that took effect that day.
"We are ready and we are prepared for unfriendly actions from Russia (in response), such as disconnection from the BRELL (power grid) system, or others," Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said.
Thirty years after seceding from the then-Soviet Union and 17 years since joining the EU, Baltic states Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia still depend on Russia for stable power supplies.
However, Lithuania installed equipment on its power link to Poland last year to connect with the continental European grid quickly as an insurance policy in case Russia cuts off the flow of electricity, potentially causing blackouts.
Nauseda said Lithuania's status as a member of NATO meant Russia would not "challenge us in military sense".
He also said Lithuania will be expanding the list of goods it bars from reaching Kaliningrad, as phase-in periods for the EU sanctions are reached.
If the European Commission explained the content of sanctions to Russia "it could remove some of the current tensions" he added.

The footage shows the TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" vehicle, which has a multiple rocket launcher mounted on a T-72 tank chassis, being deployed somewhere in Ukraine and reportedly firing thermobaric warheads at Ukrainian targets.
The vehicle can be seen sporting a white 'Z' daubed its side. The 'Z' is one of the symbols, as well as the letters 'V' and 'O' that can be seen painted on Russian military vehicles taking part in the invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian MoD added that drones assisted the vehicle with targeting.

Russian rockets hit buildings in downtown Kharkiv
Russian rockets hit downtown Kharkiv late on Friday, damaging office and residential buildings but leaving no casualties, according to Ukrainian emergency services.
On Friday, Ukraine's defence ministry said that Ukrainian armed forces units were under constant artillery fire in the Kharkiv area.
Kharkiv suffered heavy bombardment from the very start of the Russian invasion on February 24, which left much of the city of 1.5 million a wasteland of ruined buildings and debris.

Ukrainian forces fire three large ballistic missiles at Russian positions
Description
Ukrainian forces fire three large ballistic missiles at Russian positions
Ukrainian forces fire three large tactical ballistic missiles at Russian positions including ammunition depots.
The images reportedly show three 'Tochka' tactical ballistic missiles fired from mobile missile launch systems deployed in a field in Ukraine.
It is unclear where exactly in Ukraine the images were filmed but the footage was obtained from the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who said that it shows the "launch of three 'Tochka' OTRs [tactical ballistic missiles] at the positions of orcs and ammunition depots".
The Ukrainian forces regularly refer to the invading Russian military forces as "orcs".
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 121st day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 24th June, Russia had lost about 34,530 personnel, 1,507 tanks, 3,637 armoured combat vehicles, 759 artillery units, 241 multiple launch rocket systems, 99 air defence systems, 216 warplanes, 183 helicopters, 622 drones, 137 cruise missiles, 14 warships, 2,553 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 60 units of special equipment.
On Thursday, 23rd June, the European Union approved Ukraine’s application to become a candidate for admission to the bloc, which is currently made up of 27 countries. The decision has been hailed in both Brussels and Kyiv as a “historic moment”, with President Zelenskyy saying that “Ukraine’s future is in the EU”.
The head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, warned Russia may stop supplying gas to Europe this winter. Several European countries have already received less Russian gas than expected in the last few weeks, with European imports of natural gas from Russia dropping from approximately 40 per cent to 20 per cent.
Germany has taken a step closer to gas rationing after a drop in supplies from Russia.
British intelligence has estimated that the pro-Russian, so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has lost 55 per cent of its original forces.
US intelligence has revealed that Russia is mining the Black Sea ports of Odesa and Ochakiv to throttle Ukraine’s ability to export grain.
Russia is now thought to control all of the eastern Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk, apart from the Azot chemical plant.
Russian Foreign Ministry press secretary Maria Zakharova has said that Moscow’s response to Lithuania banning the transit of goods, sanctioned by the EU, to Kaliningrad will not only be diplomatic but also practical.
But Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte has accused Russia of lying over the blockade, saying that people are still able to travel between Russia and Kaliningrad and that the blockade only affects 1 per cent of goods.
Russia conducted an anti-ship missile exercise in the Baltic Sea amid escalating tensions with NATO member Lithuania after the country blocked the transit of some goods to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
Iryna Vereshchuk, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, has urged locals in the Kherson region to evacuate, to help Ukrainian forces "deoccupy" the area.
Ukrainian officials have said that there are currently no safe towns for civilians in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, as fighting in the area intensifies.

A BRIT-led team of international volunteers blasted a Russian position with a Javelin anti-tank missile on Ukraine’s front line.
The daredevil squad, led by ex-Para Daniel Burke, crept into no-man’s land in occupied Kherson province to launch the rocket attack.
Their unit, known as the Dark Angels, began the commando-style raid after troops from Ukraine’s 28th Brigade gave them an £80,000 fire-and-forget missile.
Body cam footage shot by fellow Brit fighter Sam Newey — a student from Birmingham with no previous military experience — shows the four-man team creeping up to a ridge line to fire the US-made guided weapon.
Britain has given Ukraine some 200 Javelin missiles which have a maximum range of 2.5km. The US donated thousands more.
The Sun met the volunteers at their bunker HQ in a bomb-blitzed frontline village.
The highest ranking volunteer was a former US Marine sergeant, Chris.
Others include a German-born bartender, British ex-con Mark Ayres, 49, and a US gun enthusiast, Justin, 29, who fought in Afghanistan.
Burke formed the Dark Angels to deliver humanitarian aid and provide medical and military training.
His volunteers are all unpaid — and laugh off Russian claims they are far-right foreign mercenaries.
