It’s late at night. You’re tired, but your dog isn’t. Cue…. The laser! Great way to entertain your dog while standing still.

This is what we do almost every morning… and the chickens love it! They love being able to free range.

I had the thought before I put them in. Poke them with a fork. And then I didn’t. It doesn’t greatly matter right? Apparently, I was very wrong. Learn from me. Poke potatoes with a form before baking!!

If I could get into her head, I’d want to know why she doesn’t go into the coop at night!

We know it will happen with all chickens … and it usually starts with just one… they want to flex their wings and fly somewhere!

Kota got her next round of vaccines, and she was mesmerized by the new rabies tag on her collar! Hilarious watching her try to get it!

We were sitting at dinner with friends and the same chicken is back!

I can watch her process this whole situation. She’s on the deck with me. A gate blocks the stairs. The door inside is closed and this is the only way open to go see her chicken friends downstairs on the ground. But it looks scary!

We have new chickens. These are bred for meat, not eggs, but these will roam in our yard for longer than our other ones!

Well, well, well, Kota doesn’t want to stay on the ground! She wants to come to the table and eat dinner!

Our oldest child was born prematurely. Thankfully, he was able to be buried next to his uncle who died far too young. we got to visit them recently, and saw these turkeys! Nice to see some life in a pretty but not fun spot.

The big ducks now have new roommates! The little ducks we hatched a few weeks ago are now big enough to stay in our big kennel And the big ducks were confused why someone was in their cage!

The new baby ducklings - who are not so baby anymore - are now in the big ducks' cage, and the big ducks don't know what to do about it. Here they are chattering away! What do you think they are saying? #ducks #homestead #animals #funnyanimals

One of the biggest difference between chickens and ducks is that chickens will sometimes let you catch them or not run when you come close. Ducklings will run at the first sign of anybody.

The second box of @crunchLabs year #2 is here! This monthly build box for kiddos is put together by @markRober and his team. Each build includes a 20-minute video from Mark explaining the concept they are working with in the build for that month. He shows it on a small and big scale before they build a project with it. This month was all about the vacuum and they got to create a vacuum chamber. Super cool to watch, and the kids have fun putting different things in it. Well, I wasn’t expecting Erik to Taste test the dog food, but he did!

These ducks running around in a group are my FAVORITE! And their noises! This is their first time free ranging, and they are unsure of what to do! Like and subscribe for more animal and family adventures from our homestead.
