House Investigation Exposes Dangerous Facility in California; Are There Others? You wouldn’t have known it from the red-carpet treatment Chinese dictator Xi Jinping received in San Francisco two weeks ago from President Joe Biden, California Governor Gavin Newsom and 400 corporate leaders, but until recently their guest was stealthily operating a biolab containing potential weapons of mass destruction near Fresno. A chilling report issued on November 15th by the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party confirmed that this facility was replete with samples of 20 deadly pathogens, the equipment to replicate them and mice genetically modified to spread COVID-19. In the hands any of the thousands of apparent People’s Liberation Army special forces personnel who have illegally entered this country in recent months, such diseases could have been unleashed with devastating effect. Despite the obvious dangers, the House investigators reported that the FBI and Centers for Disease Control were very slow to respond to requests for assistance from the local authorities. One might even say those agencies were studiously incurious about what this particular lab was up to. That may also help explain the Select Committee’s assessment that we do not know whether other Chinese labs are continuing to operate in this country and, if so, how many, where and to what end. On Wednesday, President Biden legitimated a serial strategic arsonist with a meeting in San Francisco. Worse yet, as expected, he sought to reward Chinese “dictator” Xi Jinping – who apparently greenlighted invasions of Ukraine by Russia and Israel by Hamas – with a variety of new opportunities for intensified “engagement” with America. These include fresh, empty promises from Xi concerning the CCP’s ongoing chemical warfare against America via fentanyl; resuscitated military-to-military communications that have actually proven harmful to us in the past; and consultations on artificial intelligence more likely to facilitate Beijing’s theft of our intellectual property than prevent AI’s lethal weaponization by the Communist Chinese. What really matters, however, is the prospect of U.S. government encouragement of further, expanded American investment in Communist China. APEC Meeting Sets Stage for Xi to Add our Home Front to his Global Conflagration” Next week, the arsonist who runs the world’s largest Transnational Criminal Organization and is personally responsible for serially lighting strategic “fires” that portend a global conflagration comes to America. Memo to the Senate: Stop the Marxist Take-down of Our Military The U.S. Senate recently approved Gen. C.Q. Brown to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff even though he has aggressively championed such Marxist strategies for dividing-and-conquering America as: Critical Race Theory; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion; the LGBTQ+ agenda; transgender accommodations; and climate change as the greatest threat facing our country. You don’t need to be a past or present member of the armed forces – or one of their loved ones – to understand how incompatible these initiatives are with our military’s essential readiness, recruitment, morale and deterrence capabilities. California Governor and “Old Friend” of China paid a visit last week to Beijing, presumably to burnish his foreign policy credentials in advance of an expected bid for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination next year. The Chinese Communist Party not only embraced him with uncharacteristic warmth. It played him like a Stradivarius as part of its well-honed strategy of using a putative shared commitment to countering so-called “climate change” to promote the seductive, but unfounded, proposition that the People’s Republic of China is a reliable partner of the United States, not its mortal enemy. Previous kowtowing in the Chinese capital by no fewer than four U.S. Cabinet-level officials — including climate “czar” John Kerry, featured the same fraudulent narrative. In fact, far from following America’s lead in curbing so-called “greenhouse gas” emissions, the CCP is cynically contributing to the production of additional carbon dioxide emissions by bringing online additional coal-fired electricity generation plants every week. The pretense of collaboration in sparing the world “disastrous” warming by working together to curb the use of “fossil fuels” has, however, enabled the Chinese Communists to advance one of their most important priorities: weakening the United States by reducing its energy security. The removal of Kevin McCarthy from the House Speaker’s chair has not only resulted in the election of a vastly more robust leader in the person of Mike Johnson. It has also cleared the way for a much-needed investigation into the damage being done to U.S. national security and economic interests by the world’s most powerful venture capital firm, Sequoia Capital. A previous webinar presented by the Committee on the Present Danger: China established that an inquiry by the House Intelligence Committee into Sequoia’s dealings with the Chinese Communist Party had been launched in 2021 by its then-Ranking Republican Member, Rep. Devin Nunes. When Intelligence Committee staff contacted Sequoia, however, the company declined to answer their questions. Instead, Sequoia began making sizeable contributions to Kevin McCarthy’s Leadership PAC. As it happens, shortly thereafter, Rep. Nunes retired from Congress. Speaker McCarthy promptly appointed Rep. Mike Turnerto fill the job of the Intelligence Committee’s top Republican. And no sooner had Turner taken over than he shut down the Intelligence Committee’s investigation, presumably at McCarthy’s direction. The good news is that another panel called the House Select Committee on the CCP has recently taken up the job of examining the relationship between the Chinese Communists and American technology-focused venture capital firms, to complement its ongoing inquiries into U.S. financial companies like BlackRock, MSCI, Vanguard and FTSI-Russell. We know that the latter have channeled trillions of American investors’ pension funds and other investment dollars into PRC companies – including some working directly for the People’s Liberation Army and entities sanctioned by the U.S. government. And the committee has ample reason to believe that the former have similarly been providing the Chinese Communists with material support in the form of both financing and high-technology. The bad news is that curiously absent from the venture capital firms identified for such scrutiny was Sequoia Capital. Until, that is, Kevin McCarthy was deposed. On October 17th, 10 days after the Speaker’s chair was vacated, the Select CCP Committee’s bipartisan leadership sent a lengthy letter soliciting information from Sequoia’s leadership. Its focus is the help Sequoia has given to the CCP in securing access to the best of America’s high technology, much of it enabling China’s military transformation that now threatens our utter destruction. Speaker Johnson must ensure that the Select Committee has the latitude to continue this vital investigation and its exposure of “elite capture” at Sequoia, wherever it leads. That panel’s chairman – and, for that matter, those of other oversight committees – are afforded a decisive investigative tool denied them under the McCarthy regime: the authority to issue subpoenas. Amidst the violent conflagrations raging in eastern Europe and now the Middle East, the role of an “arsonist” in a position to have sparked them has gone largely unremarked. ‘Fundamentally Transforming’ the Church, Propping up the CCP Pope Francis and China’s “emperor,” Xi Jinping, seem to share the goals of “fundamentally transforming” the Roman Catholic Church and propping up the increasingly imperiled Chinese Communist Party. This week, the Pope has convened a “synod” in Rome where clerical leaders and, for the first time, women and other “stakeholders” will be able to vote on making radical doctrinal changes. While it will be up to Pope Francis to accept such recommendations, doing so would be consistent with his roots in Marxist liberation theology. Among the Roman Catholic bishops present at the synod are some appointed by Xi pursuant to a secret deal with China that the Vatican signed five years ago. Memo to the Senate: Stop the Marxist Take-down of Our Military The U.S. Senate recently approved Gen. C.Q. Brown to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff even though he has aggressively championed such Marxist strategies for dividing-and-conquering America as: Critical Race Theory; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion; the LGBTQ+ agenda; transgender accommodations; and climate change as the greatest threat facing our country. On September 20, the UN is hosting one of three high-level meetings on health with WHO officials attending. In Vietnam last week, President Biden opined that Xi Jinping’s economic troubles at home make a Chinese invasion of Taiwan less likely. Self-inflicted, Provocative Weakness Invites CCP Aggression, Devastating Conflict Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is best known for his years as a successful football coach. Today, he is running what may be the most important defensive play of his career. Coach Tuberville is blocking Senate approval of promotions of 300 hundred senior military personnel over the Biden administration’s politicization of our armed forces. Initially prompted by its arguably illegal use of federal funding for servicewomen’s abortion-related travel, his “hold” is now addressing as well the longstanding Obama-Biden agenda of effecting a cultural Marxist “transformation” of the military. Thanks to Senator Tuberville, the U.S. Senate now has a chance to consider and thoroughly debate the current state and future direction of the U.S. military. Of immediate – and paramount – importance is whether General C.Q. Brown’s appalling mismanagement of the Air Force in his present role as that service’s Chief of Staff should be deemed disqualifying, and perhaps deserving a court-martial. Is the CCP Preparing for War on the Homefront Disguised as Patriots’ Response to Biden’s Serial Provocations? In his widely viewed interview last week, Tucker Carlson asked Donald Trump — twice — a question that is more and more on Americans’ minds: “Is there going to be a civil war?” While the former president basically deflected the question, he did note that “there’s a level of passion that I’ve never seen. There’s a level of hatred that I’ve never seen, and that’s probably a bad combination” — an assessment on which they concurred. The concern is heightened by, among others, the following factors: the Marxist revolutionary moment in which we find ourselves; the Left’s doctrinal attachment to civil war to achieve its ends; the growing number of official actions seemingly calculated to provoke patriotic Americans — including, of course, Trump’s four simultaneous prosecutions; the Marxist playbook’s use of false-flag operations; and the role of Alinskyite “middle-level violence” in political warfare to jujitsu adversaries into providing pretexts for crackdowns. Is Biden’s Executive Order on Investing in our Enemy a long-overdue Corrective — or a Vehicle for More Dangerous Business-as-usual with Beijing? President Biden issued an Executive Order last week that purported to curb U.S. financing of companies helping the Chinese Communist Party dominate three critical and militarily relevant technologies: semiconductors, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
