This beautiful soul was abandoned by the roadside
This gentle dog was discarded by the roadside in Texas on a cold day. As the car drove off, the trembling dog watched and likely wondered what it had done wrong and if the owner would come back. They didn't come back and neighbours knew that the dog had been dumped, like thousands each year in Texas. This state has one of the highest rates of dogs being discarded and it has almost ten times the rate of euthanasia in high kill shelters of any state in the U.S.A.
Dogs in Texas continue to be thrown away faster than shelters like Black Dog Farm (Texas) can help them. Jennifer and Jim take calls every week about animals in distress. They are animals that will die alone in the cold, from starvation, or they will find their way to a shelter that cannot afford to feed them. They will live a few days in noise and confusion before they are put to death.
Operating at more than capacity, Jennifer and Jim, and their children do what they can to rescue these dogs and find them loving forever homes as fast as possible. It is essential that they work quickly because they will be filling the spots as fast as they can place the dogs. They will also be struggling to manage the costs of veterinary care and food for the animals while they are being cared for.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue takes in dogs, cats, cows, goats, chickens, and almost any animal with a pulse. Every animal here has access to veterinary care, nutrition, and love. Every animal finds a home that is carefully screened and fitted for the needs of the animals. The ones who simply could not adapt to life with a new family find their forever homes here where they can thrive and be happy.
"Irene", as she is now called, was a trembling, cowering dog who needed an hour of coaxing to allow a collar to be placed on her neck. She ate eagerly and watched Jennifer carefully, hoping for a gentle hand and a warm place to go. She calmed down quickly on the car ride home and walked happily on a leash, seeming to sense that her new friends meant her no harm. It was obvious that she had recently been nursing pups, or soon would be. In the next few days, Irene will receive vaccinations and a checkup to see if she is pregnant and to see what care she will need.
The cost of rescuing animals is high. Black Dog Farm and rescue relies on generosity from those who follow and support their efforts. They do what they do as volunteers, and every dollar given by friends and family is used for the care of the gentle souls who find their way here.

Rescued kitten is completely in love with her new shepherd friend
Lilibet is a happy and grateful soul who has connected beautifully with Charlie, a shepherd cross who loves her right back. As unusual as it is for a dog and a cat to bond so quickly and so intensely, it's not surprising when you know their heart warming stories.
Lilibet has just arrived at her new forever home. She started out life as a neglected and unwanted kitten, being given away to anyone who would be willing to pick her up and take her anywhere. Too young to be without her mother, she and her brother were advertised on FaceBook with a simple message: "Come and get them". A kitten like that can end up in any home, with anyone. Or worse, they can end up in a dog fighting ring, or with somebody looking for live prey for reptiles and snakes. "Free kittens" can end up in situations that are beyond cruel.
But Lilibet and her brother were found by Jennifer and Jim of Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas). They were given love and care and a carefully selected home with a family that would provide Lilibet and Archie with all that they deserved. Lilibet and Archie's new home would have something else that was wonderful; a friend named Charlie.
Charlie's story is a sad tale with a beautiful ending. His mother, Faith had also been a rescue at the Black Dog Farm. Faith was a pathetic and dirty dog with belly full of babies. She had been neglected and chained, given nothing but a bowl of food and some water. She was undernourished and unloved. She was not even shown the kindness of human interaction. She cowered in a small shelter made of plywood scraps on her short chain. Then, she was noticed by somebody who called the Black Dog Farm and Rescue. Jennifer and Jim made the trek to find Faith and negotiate for her freedom and a her chance at a proper life. Faith eagerly got into the kennel and was put in the back of the truck. But as soon as they were two minutes away, Jim stopped the truck. Faith was brought to the front to sit on Jennifer's lap for the rest of the ride home. And Jennifer's lap is where Faith would sit any chance she got.
Given veterinary care, warm shelter, adequate food, and love, Faith was a devoted mother who gave birth to a litter of puppies that were also loved and cared for. All of them flourished and all of them found perfect homes. Charlie ended up here, in Washington with people who welcomed him like a true family member.
Now, Charlie extends the same welcome to Lilibet. The two spend a good part of the day cuddling and playing. Neither one seems to understand that cats and dogs aren't typically best friends. Lilibet just wants love from anyone or anything. Jennifer and Jim couldn't be happier than to see three wonderful souls in one loving home.

Rescued Kittens Are Seeing A Toy For The First Time In Their Lives
These kittens, Archie and Lilibet have just arrived in a little paradise known as Black Dog Farm and Rescue, Texas. Their lives here will be full of peaceful sleep, full bellies, playtime, safety, and love. They started out as unwanted kittens, being given away to the first person willing to claim them on Facebook. Their picture was posted, with an address and a message: "Come get them." Sadly, this is exactly how kittens are claimed and picked up for all sorts of inhumane and unspeakable fates. "Free kittens" are often used for dog fighting rings, reptile and snake food, and cruel treatment and abusive scenarios.
But these lucky ginger kitties were found by Jennifer and Jim of Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas). Although the rescue was at full capacity, they quickly found a way to bring them in and give them a foster home. The kittens were fed, cared for, socialized, and given veterinary care. This is something that they were never going to see in their original home. These kittens are going to be provided with carefully selected forever homes and their new families will provide photos, updates and news to reassure Jennifer and Jim that they are well and truly happy.
This video was taken on the first night in their new home and the kittens were loving everything about it. They were experiencing play time, which was probably something new as well.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas) does incredible work, taking in the saddest and neediest cases, but it is only possible through the generosity of friends, family, and donations from animal lovers who want to make a difference. Sanctuary owner feed goats with basketball pro precision
Jennifer and Jim are dedicated to the welfare of animals in need. They built the Black Dog and Farm Rescue in Texas. It's a serious business, doing very serious work for the creatures in need. But that doesn't mean that they can't have a little fun as they do their work. Jim is a seasoned professional when it comes to dishing out the meals at feeding time. There are a lot of animals here and making the rounds takes time. Jim has learned how to do things faster by pitching the grain pellets and the hay from outside the fence. In basketball, this would be like scoring a 3 point basket from outside the key.
Knowing that Jim could hit the target from an impressive distance, Jennifer set up and quietly recorded as he did his work. True to form, Jim nailed it. The goats have confidence in Jim too and they run eagerly to the trough when Jim makes the shot. This is a beautiful farm where beautiful things happen for the animals that are lucky enough to find their way here.

Rescued Dog Gets Excited For Sprinkler Play Time
Faith is the devoted mother of a litter of gorgeous husky/shepherd cross pups. She was found abandoned and pregnant, ready to have her pups without any help from anyone. She acted like an abused and discarded dog. But somebody took pity on her and called Black Dog Farm for help. The owners, Jennifer and Jim rushed out to pick Faith up and bring her to their sanctuary. They found her in a rough neighborhood with a piece of plywood leaning on some bricks for shelter. She was chained in the yard and was obviously getting no affection and very little food. It was as if she had just been forgotten. Faith was just days away from giving birth. With a few kind words, Faith was eager to get into a kennel and then into the truck with Jennifer and Jim.
But two miles down the road, Jim pulled over and Jennifer brought Faith up to the front of the truck to sit on her lap. Since that day, Faith goes everywhere on Jennifer's lap. Faith arrived at Black Dog Farm in Texas and made herself at home that first night. She gave birth to these 6 beautiful and healthy pups. Despite being less than a year old herself, Faith was a devoted mother to her little family. She nursed them and watched over them protectively as they played and grew. All six pups went on to carefully selected forever homes but Faith had found her forever home right here on the farm. She has become so attached to Jennifer that she just would not thrive anywhere else. And she makes the perfect ambassador at this little piece of Paradise.
These pups have all found loving families who give them the life that they deserve. They even held a virtual birthday party for the pups when they all reached one year.
Now, Faith can be seen enjoying one of her favorite games; playing with the sprinkler. She goes crazy when the water starts spraying.

Everything About This Dog Was Broken Except His Gentle Soul
Enzo is a beautiful and gentle dog with a tragic past, that is full of pain and misery. He was covered in mange and his ears and tail had been butchered in a botched attempt to pass him off as a purebred Cane Corso. He is mainly Cane Corso, but also part Neapolitan Mastiff, pit bull and German shepherd. It is believed that he had been part of an unplanned litter and after a failed attempt to pass him off as a purebred, it was clear that he could not be sold. In a Texas town near the border of Mexico, Enzo was dumped and forgotten, like a bag of trash.
Enzo had mange, and untreated, this developed into sores and infections. He wandered the streets, eating garbage and scraps. He developed serious stomach issues from eating things that no do should, and he lost weight. Growing weaker and thinner each day, Enzo's medical problems grew and he became less able to fight off skin infections. His face and body were covered with scabs and open wounds. Enzo could not survive as he was.
In an area already overrun with unwanted and neglected animals, Enzo was taken to a shelter. Here, he received some care and some food, but he needed much more, and there was no room for him to stay. It would be an act of mercy to end Enzo's suffering and his days were numbered.
Somebody at the shelter saw through the scabs and lesions, understanding that Enzo was a beautiful dog underneath. A desperate plea was put out for just one caring and committed person to help him. Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas heard the story and they were told that nobody had answered the call. There were no funds and no prospects for this poor dog who had never had a chance. Jennifer and Jim worked with the shelter to arrange transport to their sanctuary. They take in the most hopeless and desperate rescues, refusing to give up on any animal.
Enzo arrived with no reason to trust anyone, yet he put his faith in the family at Black Dog Farm, quickly attaching himself to Kennedy, Jennifer and Jim's daughter. He soaked up the love and affection and ate each meal like a dog who would never see the next one. He had severe food insecurity and he was itchy, sore, and exhausted. But he was gentle and loving. Despite his hideous skin and sores, he was given a chance to snuggle and feel the warmth of human contact. He responded wonderfully to the kindness he was shown.
Enzo needed veterinary care for his skin, his digestive tract, and other problems that he had developed. But he took all of poking and prodding well, never complaining or showing aggression toward anyone. He tolerated his baths and coconut oil treatments and he accepted leash training. He even let the family put pyjamas on him to keep him warm until his coat grew back. Enzo was almost bald and he was skin and bones.
Slowly, Enzo was socialized with the other dogs at the sanctuary. Faith, an incredible rescue herself, is a permanent resident here. She has her own story and she is another example of what hope and love can accomplish. Faith took Enzo under her wing and taught him how to play and how to be a friend. Enzo met the cows, goats, cats, and other dogs over the coming weeks and he loved them all. His gentle nature helped the others accept him easily.
Enzo has grown stronger and healthier each day, and he has grown more handsome too. With his fur and healthy skin, the beauty of this majestic is obvious. A gorgeous dog had been hidden beneath the horrific scabs and wounds. Enzo is no longer itchy and in pain. He understands that food is consistently offered, and he runs and plays with a happiness that warms the heart. Enzo's transformation has been dramatic. It's been hard, and expensive too. But Enzo is worth all of it. His heart is as big as he is.
There is one thing missing in Enzo's life. He is looking for a family that will love him forever. Black Dog Farm and Rescue are particular about placing their rescues. They want nothing but the best for the beautiful animals that pass through their doors. If you think you know somebody who can be very good to Enzo, please reach out.

Mother Cat Beams With Pride After Delivering 5 Healthy Kittens
This rescued cat has worked hard to deliver five healthy kittens. She's understandably proud of herself and she purrs happily as she is praised for her efforts. Her story is as amazing as she is. She was an unwanted kitten herself when she got pregnant. Five to six months old, she was far too young and small to carry a litter of kittens. Her irresponsible owner posted her picture on Facebook, stating that she was going to the shelter unless somebody took her. Cats like this can end up in many horrific situations when they are given away without regard. They can end up as food for reptiles, or in dog fighting rings. Or they can simply end up in another uncaring home where they will suffer from neglect or abuse.
This sweet face caught the attention of Jennifer and Jim who run the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She was brought home and shown what a caring family looks like.
Named Diana, after the author of the hit book and movie series, Outlander, she was under 7 pounds and only two weeks away from giving birth. She was malnourished and weak. But Jennifer checked on her every few hours in the last week, making sure that she would have help if she needed it.
Young Diana had a few troubles in the process of delivering the kittens, but Jennifer was there like her midwife, taking care of the things that Diana didn't know how to do, or was simply too weak to do. She performed admirably and she purred contentedly after her babies were born.
Named James Alexander Malcom Fraser (Jamie), Claire Beauchamp Fraser, Jenny Fraser Murray, Dougal Mackenzie, and Roger Mackenzie, this was a beautiful little Outlander family.
Diana became sick with gastrointestinal issues and lost more weight. She had a poor appetite and she struggle to produce enough milk for her babies. Jennifer and Jim tried bottle feeding but the kittens were reluctant. They had to tube feed the tots until they were bigger and stronger. This was an effort that went on every two hours for 3 weeks.
Diana worked hard to care for the kittens as well as she could and miraculously, all five survived. Most of the kittens have found loving, forever homes with families that know how to treat an animal like it deserves. Diana and Jenny are in a wonderful foster home, hoping to find something more permanent soon. All of the adopting families are carefully screened and every one of the Black Dog animals finds the right place with the right people, or they stay at the rescue center longer.
This little sweetie is only eleven months old now and she is still a kitten herself. She plays and acts like a kitten should and she has grown very strong and healthy.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue began with Faline, a black pit bull who brought as much love as she was given. Jennifer and Jim, the creators of Black Dog Farm and Rescue were inspired to do more for the beautiful souls who also need help. They opened their sanctuary in Texas and began doing what seemed impossible. They heal the broken animals and care for the most desperate cases, giving them the chance that they deserve.
Black Dog Farm can be found on Facebook. They do amazing work, which is only possible with the support of friends, family and other animal lovers. Please check out their page and consider helping them do the work that these little creatures so richly deserve.

Dwarf Calf Still Loves His Treats A Year After Being Rescued
Walter is a calf who was not meant to live. He is a sweet soul who had so many disadvantages that he was called 'hopeless' by the beef farmer who owned him. Farmers can't afford to keep an animal who will need more help than he is valued at. It's understandable that Walter couldn't stay, but one look at his beautiful face would tell anyone that he deserved a life and proper care, despite his health problems.
Walter was born with dwarfism, improper facial bone development, neurological issues and joint pain. He was going to need a lot of care, and he was going to b more trouble than he was worth for the farmer who owned him. The cost of vet care would quickly exceed the profit that he would bring and Walter was called a 'liability'. He was scheduled to be put down immediately, as if he was simply the number on his ear tag.
But Walter had been born on a farm across the road from a wonderful animal sanctuary called Black Dog Farm and Rescue. This family takes in the hopeless and the most needy creatures and mends them, giving them love, proper care, and a chance to find a forever home. Walter will always need a little extra love and more care than most people can give, so he will live out his days here with his new friends, Benny, Nigel, and Claire. They are the other rescued cows who call this home. Walter's number tag has been removed and he has a name. He gets treats, food, playtime, and even a good wash when he needs it to keep him clean and healthy.
Walter is a nervous little man, weighing half what he should at his age, but he will eventually grow bigger and stronger. He has fit in nicely with the other animals here and he will enjoy companionship and more space than he would ever have on his first farm. On his first night, he could be heard sadly bellowing for his mother who called back from the farm across the road. The two were distraught to be separated when Walter was only a few days old. But Walter's mother would be relieved if she could understand that Walter has a second chance now and he will be well cared for.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue does incredible work, but it is only possible through the generosity of friends, family, and donations from animal lovers who want to make a difference. Find Black Dog Farm and Rescue on Facebook to follow their adventures. And please consider helping them with a gift that will put food in the trough for sweet souls like Walter.

Rescue Dog With Mysterious Past Has Plastic Bucket As Favorite Toy
Camille is a dog with a past that will always be a mystery. She has a forever home and a loving family now, but the story of her early years will never be told. Her new start began when she showed up at the home of a kind rancher. She was an obvious stray and she was undernourished and covered with fleas. She was weak and underweight. She tried to befriend the dogs on the ranch and to fit in and share the food available, but the pack there would not accept her.
Not wanting to turn her away, the rancher put Camille in a crate and kept her safe and well fed, but she didn't have her freedom. Camille was not living the life that she deserved.
Jennifer and Jim, owners of Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas) agreed to take this beautiful, but sad dog from the rancher so that she would have a chance at a proper life. The crate was not an acceptable plan for long term and nobody wanted to let her loose to fend for herself. Black Dog Farm was her only chance.
She was originally named Mia, and the story of how she arrived at the ranch with her ribs showing would never be understood. She may have been abandoned, or she may have become lost, but in the days following, it was clear that nobody was looking for her. Dogs like this often have a tragic history that involves rejection or abuse from the very hands that they love and trust unconditionally.
Camille (Mia) was a shepherd Malinois cross, which can be a difficult breed for a family environment. Without proper socialization and training at an early age, they can develop aggressive tendencies. Boredom can cause separation anxiety and chewing. They aren't always an easy mix to find a home for. But Camille was exceedingly loving and friendly.
At Black Dog Farm, Camille learned some manners and she received some training along with some excellent veterinary care. She was spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and given vaccines. Among all of this TLC, she was also given playtime and stimulation. She soon became a very happy pup with a love for playing with her toys. Her favorite toy is a plastic bucket that she carries around proudly. New visitors were greeted by Camille and her bucket and she made such a display of how she could carry it and fetch it. She was obviously very proud of this bucket.
She found a forever home with a family who gave her even more love, along with the name, Camille. One of her humans is a piano teacher and Camille enjoys lying in the room while lessons are conducted. She will often sing along with the music. She fits in beautifully with people who will love her unconditionally, as she deserves. Only Camille knows the horrors that she faced in the weeks or months leading up to her arrival at the ranch, but she will never need to look back. And Camille also has a new pink bucket to carry around and show off.

Goat with neurological disorder earns her unusual snacks
Judi is a rescued goat who was never meant to have a chance. She was bred for profit and meant to serve a purpose for farming. But poor Judi had a rare and severe neurological disorder that made her "useless" for breeding. But Judi was far from "useless" in the eyes of Jennifer and Jim, two big hearted animal lovers who will help any beautiful soul they can. They found Judi and brought her to their sanctuary where she has found hope, love, and a forever family.
Judi needed extensive work to get her to the point where she could use her legs. She wears diapers to help her with her "control issues" and she needs daily massages and physiotherapy. Part of her therapy involves being encouraged to walk and run to strengthen her leg muscles. She is called for treats and for affection and she willingly runs to her family.
As a reward for her effort, Judie is given a few Doritos, fruit loops, and some fresh hay. Most of her diet is carefully planned and portioned, but Judi works very hard and deserves some tasty snacks. The benefit of the motivation far outweighs the negatives and Judi loves this arrangement.

Rescued Goat Preciously Reacts To Meeting Her Human At School
Judie is a rescue goat who was never meant to live a full life as she is. She was born with serious neurological issues and would require veterinary care and attention that the farmer who owned her could not give her. Judi was a goat who was bred for profit and this rendered her useless. But Jennifer and Jim, who own an animal sanctuary called Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas) found her and they knew that she deserved a chance to run and play in a meadow and to feel the warmth of the sunshine on her face. They brought Judi back to their sanctuary and worked with her daily to help her walk and gain strength.
Judi needs physical therapy, massage, veterinary care, and love from a gentle hand. Judi immediately bonded with Jennifer and Jim's daughter , Kennedy and the two became inseparable. Judi became accustomed to having Kennedy around all day and she became upset when Kennedy left for school in the fall each day.
Jennifer decided to bring Judi to school to meet Kennedy. She might have been the only goat to be chauffeured to school to meet her person. Judi lets out a bleat of delight when she sees Kennedy approaching and the two friends greet each other through the window in the most adorable way.
Kennedy is not sure if she is forgiven for being away at school and leaving Judi behind. She thinks Judi has her ears back out of resentment. But a little cuddle time on the back porch at home assures Kennedy that all is forgiven as Judi falls asleep contentedly.

Rescued Goat Models Hilarious Cowboy Costume For Halloween
Judi is a goat who was born with neurological problems that made it impossible for her to walk or lead a normal life. Destined to be bred for profit, she would be of no use on her original farm. She had not yet known the joy of sunshine on her face, or running in a meadow. Miraculously, she was found by Jennifer and Jim who run the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She was taken home, fed by hand, and given a new chance at life.
She required daily massages and rehabilitative therapy to keep her leg muscles from atrophying. The discomfort of taking even a few assisted steps in the early days left her exhausted and in need of a lot of TLC. But, with consistent effort and a gradual increase in her exercise, Judi learned to stand, then to walk unaided. She saw the other animals running and she was eager to keep up. With encouragement and support, Judi is now able to run around, even though it slow and clumsy, in comparison with the other goats here.
Judi has been given an adorable little cowboy costume and she models it proudly. Or maybe she's oblivious to the little stuffed cowboy bobbing hilariously on her back. Either way, her family loves how cute she looks as she runs, which is something that nobody thought she would be able to do.

Rescued goat wants to eat all day long!
Floyd is a very happy goat now that he has found his forever home at the Black Dog Farm and Rescue. The other goats here would completely agree with Floyd too. Black Dog Farm and Rescue is a beautiful sanctuary in Texas where the most needy and the most hopeless animals find a second chance at life, love, and a forever home. Most of the animals that land here have been neglected, mistreated, or abandoned in some form until they were found by Jennifer and Jim and their family.
Floyd was found on a very small property where nearly 20 goats shared less than 1/8th of an acre to graze and exercise. It's heart breaking to see animals so crowded and the stress that they experience under such conditions causes many health and psychological issues. It's cruelty to keep goats in a tiny enclosure.
Floyd had grown big and was no longer cute enough for his owner. He was destined to end up wherever she could dump him and his life would be over soon after. As Jennifer and Jim negotiated for Floyd's freedom, it became clear that the rest of the goats needed to be rescued as well. Finn and Fergus were two males that were not needed because the owner had another male for breeding. They were considered worthless and disposable. They were added to the escape plan.
The goat owner mentioned that "Roweena" was too crabby and no longer needed for breeding, so she was up for adoption. With the agreement that Roweena's daughter, "Fiona" be included, the owner reluctantly agreed. Fiona was worth keeping, but the package arrangement was agreeable. Roweena was worth less than nothing.
Two more were headed for auction in the coming days and they were scooped up and named "Ronnie and Reggie Kray, after the legendary London mobsters of the 1950s. (All animals at Black Dog Farm and Rescue receive wonderful and imaginative names.)
Two more goats had been bought as a 4H project and were suddenly unwanted. The "warden" of the little farm let them be included in this "prison break".
In order to get rid of the unwanted animals, a few others were included and there were a total of 9 goats in the getaway vehicle when all was said and done.
These goats enjoy nutritious food, ample room to run and play, and a parkour construction for mental stimulation. They respond to their names and they enjoy grazing freely in the sunshine. They have even been microchipped, as true pets often are. The goats enjoy visitors and a grocery delivery man who comes to the farm enjoys giving them treats and petting them on his rounds.
These goats have long and healthy lives ahead of them,. And they even have a family.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue seeks the perfect forever homes for all of their rescues and they carefully match animals to loving forever homes. Or else the animals simply don't leave. The most needy and comples cases will often find their forever homes here, in this little piece of heaven.
They opened their sanctuary in Texas and began doing what seemed impossible. They heal the broken animals and care for the most desperate cases, giving them the chance that they deserve.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue (Texas) can be found on Facebook. They do amazing work, which is only possible with the support of friends, family and other animal lovers. Please check out their page and consider helping them do the work that these little creatures so richly deserve.

Rescued Chicken Think She's A Lap Dog
This is Charlie, a chicken with a serious love for her new family. She sits contentedly on their laps and eats treats, as if she were a puppy. This is a chicken that has never known the typical farm life and she fits in here just like a pet.
Charlie and her siblings were the last four chicks in a box out front of a country store. Jennifer and Jim, who run an animal sanctuary were in the store and they overheard a conversation about the chicks. A customer had come in and was asking about "broilers", meaning chickens that could be raised for an eventual spot at the dinner table. The image of these tiny souls being broiled made Jennifer spring into action. She quickly bought the chickens and brought them home to the Black Dog Farm and Rescue with no specific plan.
Jennifer's children are animal lovers too and they readily adopted these new arrivals. Three were identical looking and they were named Charlie, Charley, and Charlee. All of them enjoyed a wonderful life with a huge enclosure to roam and explore, while being safe from predators. They were free when they could be supervised and they became attached to the children and the other animals here.
Charlie developed bumblefoot and needed daily care and treatment. She was held while her foot was soaked and she was rewarded with treats for tolerating the handling. But surprisingly, Charlie developed a liking for the affection and cuddle time on Kennedy's lap. Charlie began approaching Kennedy and standing in front with her wings half outstretched, asking to be picked up. Charlie enjoyed the affection and also blueberries and cherry tomatoes. Even after the treatments were finished and her foot issues were resolved, daily lap cuddling was part of Charlie's routine. Sometimes she will even sleep on Kennedy's lap.
Charlie proves that it isn't just dogs who like to be lap pets!

From Prisoner To Playful Puppy, Olive Is Loving Her New Home
Olive is a shar pei pup with a beautiful disposition and a loving heart. But it's surprising that she is so trusting and so loving, considering where she came from. Bought at a young age and kept in a crate most of the day, she was not given exercise or the opportunity to play. She lived in a small wire prison, being allowed out only to use the bathroom on a piece of astroturf that was kept on the balcony of the apartment where she was being kept. Olive barely knew the joy of feeling the sunshine on her face, and she had never run freely in the grass or chased another dog.
Olive's owners bought her to breed and sell the puppies. She developed an eye condition that would require minimal veterinary care, but this affected her profitability and made her a liability for her owners. They put her up for adoption on Facebook, asking for $20. They were eager to see her gone so that they could get another puppy to fill Olive's crate. This is the world of puppy mills. Inexperienced and unqualified breeders keep dogs in inhumane conditions, selling puppies with little thought about health or happiness of the dogs. Even the prospective owners are victims because the dogs come with frequent and costly health issues.
Jennifer and Jim, the owners of Black Dog Farm and Rescue have seen cases like this more times than they should. They were alerted to Olive's plight and they scooped her up before she could be bought by an equally uncaring owner. Pets sold cheaply on internet marketplaces can suffer terrible fates. Many end up in dog fighting rings or illegal breeding centres. Many are bought by people who are not committed to caring for them and they end up forgotten and neglected.
Olive had never really known the joy of playing like a puppy. Here, she is seen with Faline, Black Dog Farm's first dog. She was brought into the family before they began rescuing animals. She inspired them to do more for dogs who needed help. She is the matriarch, mentor, and welcoming committee for this beautiful sanctuary. Faline loves all animals and she does her best to reassure newcomers that their troubles are truly behind them. Olive can't contain herself as she rolls around in a delightfully uncoordinated way, trying to learn the games that Faline has to teach.
Black Dog Farm can be found on Facebook. They do amazing work, which is only possible with the support of friends, family and other animal lovers. Please check out their page and consider helping them do the work that these little creatures so richly deserve.

Goat With Neurological Damage Jumps For Joy At Sanctuary
Judi is a goat who was born with neurological problems that made it impossible for her to walk or lead a normal life. Destined to be bred profit, she would be of no use on her original farm. She had not yet known the joy of sunshine on her face, or running in a meadow. Miraculously, she was found by Jennifer and Jim who run the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She was taken home, fed by hand, and given a new chance at life.
Goat with neurological damage jumps for joy at sanctuary
Judi is a goat who was born with neurological problems that made it impossible for her to walk or lead a normal life. Destined to be slaughtered and discarded soon after birth, as if her life had no value, she had not yet known the joy of sunshine on her face, or running in a meadow.

Judi required daily massages and rehabilitative therapy to keep her legs muscles from atrophying.
But Judi doesn't care how she looks when she romps and plays. Here, she is excited to see her human friends return to the yard and she tries to leap with joy. She lands awkwardly and completely loses her balance, but that does not deter this amazing little goat. She rights herself and runs toward her rescuers with happiness.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue began with Faline, a black pit bull who had been neglected and abandoned. She responded so well to the kind voices and gentle hands of Jennifer and Jim, that they were inspired to do more for the beautiful souls who also need help. Highland Cow Runs For Treats And It's Too Adorable
Claire is one of the happiest residents at the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She's an adorable young highland cow who has found a safe place and a forever home. She is loving life so much that she actually runs and shakes her head in anticipation when the treats are offered.
These cows live on a magical farm in Texas known as Black Dog Farm and Rescue. It's a place where animals of all kinds find sanctuary and love. Here, they have been living the good life, but it wasn't always so easy for these gentle beasts. Each of them has found their way here due to medical issues of other problems that made them too expensive for their owners to keep them on the farm where they once lived. In the farming world, an animal that costs more than they are valued at must have their time cut short.
But at this wonderful sanctuary, animals come here to find the help they need, as well as a forever home. Claire has been here almost a year and she has been soaking up the love and feasting on the ample supply of food. She and the other cows play and interact with the family that runs this farm. They have learned to trust their humans completely.

Hungry Kitten Adorably Falls Asleep During His Feeding
These tiny kittens are getting a helping hand at a beautiful animal sanctuary called the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. This shelter takes in and cares for the most needy and the most neglected animals, like Dougal, a truly adorable little kitten.
He's doing well now, but for Dougal and his family, their story nearly ended in tragedy before they were born. Their mother was an underweight and poorly nourished cat who was allowed to become pregnant far too early in her young life. The owner found her through Facebook, advertised as a "free kitten". But soon after he took her home, she became pregnant. The owner took the mother to a shelter and abandoned her. Life at a shelter is usually short for pregnant cats, and for their babies as they are often the first ones sacrificed to solve the problems of overcrowding and lacking funds. Miraculously, the young mother's story came to the attention of Jennifer and Jim at the Black Dog Farm and Rescue. They couldn't let this mother and her babies be euthanized.
Jennifer and Jim took the cat home and named her Diana, after the author of the popular book and TV series, Outlander. Two weeks later, Diana had her babies, Roger MacKenzie, Jenny Fraser Murray, Claire Beauchamp Fraser, James (Jamie) Alexander MacKenzie, and this sweet soul, Dougal MacKenzie.
Diana was small and she was already struggling. She became very sick and was unable to provide her kittens with enough milk. Jennifer and Jim refused to give up on these adorable babies. Jennifer syringe fed them every two hours for three weeks until they were strong enough to eat gruel (milk replacer). Although their stories nearly ended in the worst way, they are now thriving and growing bigger by the day. Jennifer and Jim have found carefully selected forever homes for each of these beautiful babies. Every one will have a loving family and proper care.
Here, we see Dougal enjoying his feeding and gulping down his dinner. But Dougal is a tired little boy and he can barely keep his eyes open. He's hungry and he's eager to eat, but his eyes are closing, even though his mouth is working hard to fill his tiny belly.
No animal should be treated like Diana was. Black Dog Farm and Rescue continues to do the work they do only because of help and support from animal lovers like them. They refuse to give up on any creature who wants to live. Please support their rescue so they can provide food and medical care to mend beautiful souls like Diana and help them find their forever homes. Beautiful transformation of starving dog rescued from euthanasia
Matilda is a beautiful soul who was one of the saddest cases at a shelter in Texas where the kennels were overflowing with abandoned animals. These were dogs and cats with little hope of ever being loved. Somehow, their owners had given up on them or grown tired of the responsibility. Some were simply turned in at the shelter and left to wonder what they might have done wrong. How a loyal pet could be subjected to this heart break and confusion is difficult to imagine. Yet, it happens hundreds of times each day in all states and provinces in North America.
Matilda was a number. She didn't even have a name. She was a young mother, looking after her 5 pups, and refusing to give up on them the way she had been given up on. The shelter could not provide the health care or medical attention that Matilda deserved, and she was covered in feces, mud, and fleas. She had heartworm and her fur was a mess. Matilda's pups were adopted and they all found forever homes, but Matilda herself was a dog who had no chance of finding love. Looking the way she did, nobody was going to see what a beautiful animal she was.
But Matilda was noticed when Jennifer and Jim arrived at this shelter to pick up JJ to take him to their sanctuary, The Black Dog Farm and Rescue. JJ was a kitten who was in desperate need of a home. He had serious medical issues, and sadly, it was too late by the time JJ was rescued. He took his last breaths a few days after arriving at The Black Dog Farm and Rescue. But when Jennifer and Jim picked up JJ, they fell in love with Matilda and they promised her that she would have a home with them. Having heartworm and looking as rough as she did, Jennifer knew this was Matilda's last chance to live. Black Dog Farm was already over their capacity, but they couldn't leave her to die.
Matilda was loaded into the truck and driven two hours to her new rescue. She was given a bath, some food, medical treatment and love. She responded beautifully and her tail wags constantly.
Looking at Matilda now, her beauty is obvious. A dog like her is dramatically transformed when she has a gentle hand a little love.
No animal should be treated like this. Black Dog Farm and Rescue continues to do the work they do only because of help and support from animal lovers like them. They refuse to give up. Please support their rescue so they can provide food and medical care to mend beautiful souls like Matilda and help them find their forever homes. "Hopeless" calf is given new life and a forever home
Walter is a sweet soul who had so many disadvantages that he was called 'hopeless' by the beef farmer who owned him. Farming is a tough business and it doesn't pay to keep an animal who will need more help than he is valued at. It's understandable that he couldn't stay, but one look at his beautiful face should tell anyone that he deserved a life and proper care, despite his health problems.
Walter was born with dwarfism, improper facial bone development, neurological issues and joint pain. He was going to need a lot of care, and he was going to me ore trouble than he was worth for the farmer who owned him. The cost of vet care would quickly exceed the profit that he would bring and Walter was called a 'hopeless liability'.
His number tag has been removed and he has a name.
On his first night, he can be heard sadly bellowing for his mother who called back from the farm across the road.

Bulldog Adorably Struggles To Stay Awake In Kitchen Chair
Odin is a beautiful soul who has found his forever home with a loving family that treats him extremely well. Odin feels so well loved and so comfortable that he climbs up on his favourite kitchen chair just to be close to his family when they gather around the table. But Odin has had a big day of playing and running around. He is tired now and he struggles adorably to keep his eyes open. He wants to drift off and sleep, but he’s not ready to get down off his chair and go to his bed quite yet.
Odin's family can’t resist pulling out the camera to record such a comical moment as he fights to keep his eyelids from lowering. He has even started to gently snore as he gets more tired.
Odin is a very lucky dog but not all dogs find such loving families as he has. Many dogs are abandoned and neglected and they find their way to shelters where they wait for love to find them. Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas is among the best shelters in North America. They take in the most needy and most hopeless cases, providing them with adequate love and care, along with medical treatment so that those gentle souls can find a soft place to land. As they wait for adoption, they are mended and trained, loved and pampered, and they learn to trust again. Some will stay at the farm forever and many others will be placed in carefully selected homes.
The people at Black Dog Farm and Rescue work miracles, refusing to give up on any animal that also refuse to give up. Black Dog Farm can be found on Facebook. They do amazing things, which is only possible with the support of friends, family and other animal lovers. Please check out their page and consider helping them do the work that these little creatures so richly deserve.
