shark leaps onto a boat deck
shark leaps onto a boat deck
Three anglers rush to safety after the world's fastest shark leaps onto their feet on a boat deck.
The fishermen onboard a Sea Ventures Charter boat gazed at the Atlantic shortfin mako in amusement as the sea giant sea fish darted in the air from a distance while off the coast of Massachusetts on Saturday.
One of the men hooked the shark onto a fishing rod about 30 feet away from the boat as it attempted to break free.
Within seconds, another shark launched on the boat deck and crashed directly into the men who then quickly scattered.
'Oh f***' one of the men is heard screaming as the shark appeared to have hit another man seen in the video.
One of the men to the left of the camera angle was able to swiftly escape while two others got caught in the commotion.
While another was able to quickly move away after being slammed by the shark, another hurried up a nearby ladder to a top deck.
The shark jumped onboard the FV Lady Anne boat, and the company operating the boat noted it was 'a lovely day shark fishing.'
'A once-in-a-lifetime experience!' Sea Ventures Charters wrote on Facebook.
Sea Ventures Charters confirmed no one was injured, but noted the fish was tagged before being released.

Brazilian Fisherman rescued after 11 DAYS adrift in a FREEZER
Brazilian Fisherman rescued after 11 DAYS adrift in a FREEZER
A fisherman had a miraculous rescue after surviving 11 days adrift in a freezer which he clambered into when his boat began to sink in the Atlantic.
Romualdo Macedo Rodrigues, 44, left Oiapoque, Amapa state, northern Brazil in late July in a wooden boat approximately seven metres (23 feet) long to go to Ilet la Mere.
According to Brazilian media, he planned to spend a few days fishing but his boat began to take on water during his trip and sank.
n a bid to survive, the 44-year-old climbed into a freezer which he had on board. Mr Rodrigues spent his time adrift without food or water and believes that he lost around five kilograms during the 11 days.
He said: 'What troubled me most was the thirst. This fridge, for me, was God. A miracle.'
Footage taken on 11 August shows when he was rescued, exhausted and tumbling onto the floor of a Surinamese fishing vessel, 450 kilometres (280 miles) from where his boat sank.
Dehydrated, disorientated and sporting torn clothes, the man also had sunstroke and pleaded with his rescuers for a drink- they gave him water and porridge.
Speaking about the terrifying experience to his local media, he said: 'I thought I was going to be attacked by sharks because there are lots of curious fish on the high seas.'
Describing his rescue, he said: 'I heard a noise and there was a boat above the freezer.
'Except they thought there was no one there. Then they slowly got closer, my vision was fading, and then I said, 'My God, the boat'. I raised my arms and asked for help.'
Police officer Luis Carlos Porto said: 'He was very thin, debilitated, but in very good spirits. The wounds he had on his body, which were related to the sun, were already much better.
'He says he had vision problems due to the excessive heat, salt, and light, but he was very calm and in good health.'
But Romualdo's ordeal was not over. After the boat returned to shore he was given first aid and then arrested in Suriname for being undocumented.
It is reported that he then spent 16 days in a prison in Paramaribo.
His nightmare finally ended when he was returned to his home country on a flight which landed in Belem, Para state, also in northern Brazil.
Overjoyed, Romualdo described it as 'the most important day' of his life and said: 'I was born again.'

great white shark shows off dagger sharp teeth
great white shark shows off dagger sharp teeth
Incredible images from the deep show a great white shark named Nelson flashing the camera a toothy smile as he stalks a lure just under the ocean's surface.
One particularly gripping image shows the deadly shark with its jaw open displaying its 300 dagger-sharp teeth chasing a lure through the water.
Another stirring photo shows the sharks strength as it thrashes through the water in pursuit of the lure creating bubbles and waves all around.
The sharks were captured on underwater camera near Guadalupe Island, Mexico, off the coast of Baja California and some 250 miles south of San Diego and the southern border.
These death-defying images were taken by shark photographer Euan Rannachan, who spends much of his time diving with the Be A Shark Team off Guadalupe Island in Mexico.
'In this series of photos and video you can see a shark named Nelson making his way straight up towards me and at the last second ducking down under the surface of the water,' said Euan.
'This shows off Nelson doing the jaws pose for me.
'The island is a migration path of a lot of different kinds of seals. With the very deep sides the island is the perfect place for the sharks to do their vertical attacks.
'It was a typical day in the cage. This day happened to be saturated with sharks and we had lots of fish to check out.
'Nelson is a great white shark and they have extra senses than us. They can even feel our heartbeats in the cage.
'They can feel electrical impulses through the water from quite a ways away. However, I was very close, under ten feet from Nelson.
'I love photographing sharks because it's different each time. Some days that's because of the sharks around and other days it's because of the condition of the water we are shooting in.
'I think about the same thing each time something exciting happens around the cage. I hope I got whatever happened in focus, and I pray none of my cameras are full or out of battery.'
Jaws was the famous 1975 summer blockbuster about a man-eating shark which taught audiences to fear going into the water.
It featured an iconic poster of an oversized great white shark emerging from the deep with its mouth agape as a young woman swam above it at the water's surface.
Euan managed to capture Nelson making a similar pose, although the similarities end there as the dimensions of the shark in the Jaws poster are unrealistic.
And, although they are known to hunt seals in such a fashion, fully breaching the water at tremendous speeds, they have never been known to strike a human this way.
Guadalupe Island became known for its great white sharks in 2000 after America’s Shark Boat first visited and discovered great white sharks there.
The average Guadalupe Island white shark grows to 15 feet - although they can exceed 20 feet - and weigh up to 5,000 pounds. They can swim at 15 miles per hour, but they have never attack a human in these waters.
The US has seen 34 shark attacks so far in 2022 but none have been fatal - although six people have died world wide from shark attacks this year.
The Florida Museum shows a trend of increasing shark attacks since the 1980s. Cleaner coastal waters is thought to be partly responsible, with increased fish life attracting larger predators.
'Requiem' sharks are responsible for over a third of shark attacks in Florida, with the more fearsome tiger and great white sharks vastly down the list.
Rannachan, known as euanart on Instagram, is a filmmaker and photographer with www.beashark.team.

First 8K Video of the Titanic, the world's most iconic shipwreck
First 8K Video of the Titanic, the world's most iconic shipwreck
New first-of-its-kind footage of the Titanic shows the ship's 200-pound anchor chain, giant portside anchor and a single-ended boiler that fell to the seafloor when the vessel broke in two and sank 12,500 feet below the North Atlantic surface more than 110 years ago.
The footage, captured by the diving excursion company OceanGate Expeditions, reveals an astonishing level of details and colors that have not been seen by the human eye since April 12, 1912.
The team filmed the historic vessel in the highest video resolution, roughly 8,000 pixels wide (8k), which allows them to zoom in on specific areas without losing image quality.
This allowed them to see never-before-seen details, such as 'Noah Hingley & Sons Ltd,' which is etched on the portside anchor, and provides insight to how the wreck is changing in its watery grave.
This is OceanGate Expeditions' second annual expedition to the Titanic, which transports 'mission specialists' and with researchers, to the massive ship while safely enclosed inside the company's submersible Titan.
The Titanic Expedition was carried out during an eight-day missions starting in May and ending in June, and each 'mission specialist' seat costs $250,000 – a $125,000 increase from the previous year.
Stockton Rush, President, OceanGate Expeditions, said in a statement: 'The amazing detail in the 8k footage will help our team of scientists and maritime archaeologists characterize the decay of the Titanic more precisely as we capture new footage in 2023 and beyond.'
The citizen explorers, or mission specialists, began their adventure by sailing on the expedition vessel from St John's in Newfoundland, Canada, to the site of the Titanic wreckage, located 370 miles away.
OceanGate Expeditions then used its five-manned carbon fiber and titanium Cyclops-class submersible to transport archaeologists and the paying customers to the wreck – the craft takes up to three mission specialists on each dive that lasts eight to 10 hours.
The Titan submersible is outfitted with the latest camera technologies to capture ultra-high-resolution imagery that will help determine the wreck's rate of decay and assess the marine life that dwells on the wreck.
The mission dove deep below the North Atlantic until the lights of the submarine flashed on the monstrous vessel.
The crew was met by 'the enormous 15-ton anchor still located on the deck of the shipwreck and the shackle that was originally attached to the main mast that has now collapsed,' PH Nargeolet, Veteran Nautile submersible pilot and Titanic diver, said in a statement.
'Later in the video you see three round structures along the inside of the railing. These are the triple fairleads that were used to feed the docking ropes to the bollards on shore to secure the ship to the dock when the Titanic was at port,' Nargeolet continued.
Along in the journey, the divers spotted hull number one, the number one cargo hold and solid bronze capstans, the metal structures used to move heavy weight around by means of ropes, cables or chains.
And these are all being seen for the first time since the Titanic sank to the ocean floor.
Also captured is dramatic evidence of decay where some of the Titanic's rail has collapsed and fallen away from the ship.
Rory Golden, OceanGate Expeditions Titanic expert and veteran Titanic diver, said in a statement: 'One of the most amazing clips shows one of the single-ended boilers that fell to the ocean's floor when the Titanic broke into two.
'Notably, it was one of the single-ended boilers that was first spotted when the wreck of the Titanic was identified back in 1985.'
Although such trips to the vessel spark excitement, they have also stirred controversy: experts believe salvage missions and other expeditions over the decades — including filmmaker James Cameron's famed dive in 2001 — have further weakened the integrity of the 108-year-old hull.
The landing of craft on the wreck has caused substantial deterioration to the promenade deck, with some of the more significant damage caused by Cameron's expedition, during which a submersible collided with the ship's hull.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the hull and structure of the ship is likely to collapse within the next 40 years.
The Titanic, which was called the 'unsinkable ship,' went down on April 14, 1912, four days into her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York.
The giant ship collided with an iceberg and in the end, 1,517 of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard died.

Ohio father discusses fatally shooting daughter's ex boyfriend,Sidney, Ohio,
Ohio father discusses fatally shooting daughter's ex boyfriend
Mitchell Duckro, 52, shot his daughter's ex-boyfriend James Rayl, 22, three times after he attempted to get into their property
Rayl was struck in the left shoulder, right shoulder and back, through the front door and staggered away after the shooting
Duckro was heard telling police that he 'shot through the door' because he was 'nervous' about Rayl's behaviour
He also admitted that the 9mm firearm used in the killing was registered to his father-in-law
Allyson Duckro, 22, had broken up with Rayl a year and a half before her dad shot him dead
A Shelby County grand jury voted 8 to 1 not to indict Duckro based on Ohio's 'Stand Your Ground' law
A father who shot dead his daughters’ ex-boyfriend as he tried to break into their home can be seen laughing with officers during his interview hours after the killing.
Mitchell Duckro, 52, shot his daughter Allyson’s former boyfriend James Rayl 22, three times after he showed up unannounced to their home in Sidney, Ohio, on July 31.
New footage obtained by DailyMail.com show Mitchell recalling the moments leading up to the shooting, telling officers at Shelby County Sheriff’s office that he was ‘nervous’.
Rayl had dated Duckro’s daughter, Allyson, 22, previously but the pair broke up a year and a half before the tragic incident.
Allyson told cops that she had broken up with Rayl in 2019 because he was 'just being a d***' and in the aftermath, she was forced to block him on social media.
Mitch claims that he tried to get Rayl’s attention by shouting his name from the garage door but was ignored, so locked it to ensure he didn’t ‘sneak in’.
Describing the moment that he shot the gun, Mitch said: ‘I noticed he started to jiggle the handles and stuff to see if it was locked and that was when I went up to the door.
‘I wanted to make sure he wouldn’t force his way in. I’m pretty sure I was telling him to stop and leave and get off my porch or something.
‘But I had my nine in my hand and then he started hitting it with his shoulder, pretty hard. Eventually he was getting in, and when the door was open is when I shot.
‘I shot through the window part of the door, because it was open and he was coming in. I didn’t have no grip.
‘I was trying to shoot but I couldn’t, I freaked out finally did it and he was pushing hard and the gun fired I think three times twice up here and maybe another one I’m pretty sure it was three.
‘They were all through the glass. He had turned and went off the porch and it’s kind of hard to remember after that.
‘We was all freaking out obviously, I saw his legs lying there.’
Mitch told officers that his daughter and wife, Stacie, 51, were ‘freaked out’ because of a voicemail that Rayl left Allyson the night before.
He claims that she asked him if he was ‘expecting anyone’, after Rayl’s car pulled up outside their home in Sidney, moments after they returned home from breakfast.
During an interview with officers he was also seen chuckling while telling authorities that his daughter didn’t tell him much about the relationship.
Allyson also laughed and smiled with the detective as she recounted her experience of the day, said that Rayl would often say things to upset her when they were together.
Mitch admitted that the firearm used in the shooting belonged to his father-in-law, and had been given to him after he went into a home but it was not registered in his name.
When asked if he remembered Rayl, he added: ‘Mostly I don’t recall meeting him. I knew it was not going the way that Ally was saying that they didn’t get along and it seemed like it was all taken care of and everyone went their separate ways but I guess not.’
His daughter told cops that she started ‘freaking out’ after her ex tried to break into the property, and ‘ran and hid’ because she didn’t know what to do.
She added: 'I though the was always very nice. He was okay in high school but after he got back from California, he was just different.
'His close friends...he just started treating like c***and nobody wanted to deal with it.'
Rayl left his ex-girlfriend a voicemail the night before the porch shooting, saying he wanted to see how she was doing.
Chilling Ring camera footage caught the moment Duckro fired through the front door of his property on North Kuther Road, killing unarmed Rayl.

World's most advanced attack submarine HMS Anson joins Royal Navy
World's most advanced attack submarine HMS Anson joins Royal Navy
The world's most advanced attack submarine, which can take out land targets up to 1,000 miles away, has joined the Royal Navy fleet.
The HMS Anson is armed with 38 Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk Block V cruise missiles, and is worth a whopping £1.3 billion.
It is equipped to destroy enemy ships and submarines, gather intelligence and protect other Royal Navy vessels from above or below the waves.
The hunter-killer submarine was officially welcomed to the service during a commissioning ceremony at the BAE Systems' yard in Barrow, Cumbria earlier today.
Anson is is the fifth of the new 'Astute' class attack submarines joining the fleet, which are described as the largest and most advanced ever operated by the Navy.
Commander David Crosby, the boat's first Commanding Officer, said that 'HMS Anson would go on to be the best Astute-class submarine yet'.
He added: 'Among tough competition that is a bold claim, but I fully believe it; she will be successful on operations for years to come and be envied by nations across the globe.
'The good fortune to be commanding officer of the most advanced and capable attack submarine ever built in the UK on her commissioning day is the greatest honour of my submarine career.'
HMS Anson can reach speeds of over 30 knots, and is fully equipped to destroy enemy military infrastructure both on land and in the sea.
It is 318 feet (97 metres) long and has space for all of its 98 crew to have their own bed and space.
The onboard Rolls Royce nuclear reactor means the boat will never need to be refuelled during its 25-year service period.
As it can also purify water and air, its time underwater will only be limited by the amount of food onboard, meaning it is capable of circumnavigating the globe without resurfacing.
It took some 20 million hours of work over 11 years to prepare the 7,800-tonne boat for action, that is dubbed more complex than the International Space Station.
Anson was named after Admiral George Anson, a Royal Navy officer from the 18th Century who made a four-year voyage around the world and led a victory against the French at Cape Finisterre in 1747.
At the naming ceremony in December 2020, a bottle of cider was smashed against the hull as the drink was favoured by Admiral Anson as a cure for scurvy.
The submarine was rolled out of Devonshire Dock Hall in April 2021 and lowered into Wet Dock, where engineers and crew have been testing equipment and optimising its systems.
In February, Anson conducted a dive in Barrow that allowed personnel to check its balance while submerged, as well as its dive/surface systems, ballast tanks, depth sensors, sonars.
First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Ben Key, said: 'Given the world we live in, there is no more important tool in the United Kingdom's arsenal: silent, unseen, and a key instrument of our global, modern, ready Royal Navy.
'HMS Anson is the cutting edge in submarine design and construction… ensuring operational advantage in the underwater battlespace, the last great stealth domain.
'The Royal Navy's nuclear submarines: protecting critical national infrastructure, securing the nuclear deterrent, and ready to deliver firepower against those who would do us harm.'
The boat joins HMS Astute, Ambush, Artful and Audacious in the Astute programme; claimed to be one of the most complex engineering projects in the world.
The sixth and seventh Astute class boats are currently at an advanced stage of construction.
The submarine will remain in Barrow for a few more weeks undergoing final checks before being sailed to the HM Naval Base Clyde in Faslane to prepare for sea trials.
Commodore Paul Dunn, the head of the Royal Navy Submarine Service, said: 'The commissioning is a significant milestone for both Anson and the Submarine Service and I would like to thank the crew, BAE Systems and the 'submarine enterprise' for the delivery of our fifth Astute class.
'I look forward to welcoming Anson to Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde, the home of the Submarine Service, in the near future.'

Spain's famous Tomatina festival returns for first time since Covid
Spain's famous Tomatina festival returns for first time since Covid
World's biggest food fight' left participants and surrounding streets awash in red tomato pulp in Bunol, Spain
Workers unloaded 130 tonnes of over-ripe tomatoes into crowds packing the streets for the hour-long battle
The event costs 12 euros for a basic ticket and more than 20,000 people signed up to take part in the melee
La Tomatina was banned in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, with participants eager to revel in the fight
Participation has been ticketed since 2013 after local officials said too many visitors overwhelmed the streets
This year's celebration had the added incentive of being the event's 75th anniversary and 20 years since the festival was declared an international tourism attraction by Spain
People from around the world pasted each other with tomatoes on Wednesday as Spain's famous Tomatina street battle took place once again following a two-year suspension because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Workers on trucks unloaded 130 tons of over-ripe tomatoes along the main street of the eastern town of Bunol for participants to throw, leaving the area drenched in red pulp.
Local officials said they expected fewer foreign visitors this year mainly because of continuing fears over Covid-19 in Asian countries.
But the streets were packed as thousands of bodies coated themselves and each other in red mush.
The annual event held on the last Wednesday of August was inspired by a food fight between local children in 1945 in the town, located in a tomato-producing region.
Though banned in the early 1950s, it was later reinstated in 1957 after public backlash and in the 1980s media attention turned 'La Tomatina' into a national and international event, drawing participants from every corner of the world.
Participants don swimming goggles to protect their eyes, while their clothes, typically T-shirts and shorts, are left covered in pulp.
Besides being the first battle since before the pandemic started in 2020 in Spain, this year's celebration had the added incentive of being the event's 75th anniversary and 20 years since the festival was declared an international tourism attraction by Spain.
La Tomatina is a beloved celebration in Bunol and in recent years has served as a welcome boost to local government coffers.
Participation at the event has been paid and ticketed since 2013 after officials said too many foreign visitors were taking part and overwhelming the streets.
The number of participants peaked at 40,000 at the 2012 festival, of which only about 5,000 were locals, prompting the government to cut entry numbers by half for every subsequent year.
The festival's popularity spawned several copycat celebrations in various cities across the world, including London.
A Spanish restaurant in the capital hosted Britain's first official Tomatina in 2018 - though in typical London fashion, ticket prices were set at a much pricier £49 and included a lunch and cocktail party.
Ponchos were provided.

Spaniards attach flaming torches to bull's horns at Spanish festival
Spaniards attach flaming torches to bull's horns
Footage has emerged of a bull wailing in terror as it is tied to a post with a rope while its captors attach flaming torches to its horns during a bull running festival in Spain.
The harrowing clip, captured on August 18 in the municipality of Museros, Valencia, shows the moment the bull is lashed to a post while event organisers forced a flammable device onto its horns.
Attendants set the torches alight, causing the animal to moan in fear and anger, before the beast is released and sent running through the streets after goading festival goers.
The images were released yesterday by Spain's PACMA (Animalist Party Against Mistreatment of Animals), which campaigns to put an end to the country's widely celebrated but brutal practice.
A bull with flaming horns is known as a 'toro embolado' - or 'bull with balls' - and is a sight that can be witnessed in many Spanish towns during bull running events.
Locals try to dodge the bull as it rips through the town's roads, but the pain caused by the flames typically work the animal into a frenzy, making them even more dangerous.
A PACMA spokesperson said: 'The PACMA Animalist Party has shared a video that may hurt the sensibilities of many, but not because of physical violence, but because of the cries of anguish of a bull.
'The images show how, as it leaves his enclosure, it is met by several dozen men who, shouting, quickly surround it and even pounce on it to anchor it to the post where the devices will be placed on its horns.'
They said that it was a 'situation that cattle experience with great sensitivity' which amounts to 'real torture', according to veterinary reports that have documented similar events.
The political party said that bulls are tortured at over 17,000 events that take place every year throughout Spain, highlighting that Valencia has the highest number.
They said that Valencia has over 300 municipalities that celebrate this type of event and that seven people had died as a result of participating in them so far this year.
They added that this was the worst year on record in terms of human deaths, tied with 2015.
PACMA's aims are 'to bring to light what bullfighting fans and businessmen prefer to hide: the crudest side of bullfighting and bullfighting'.
The party claims the practice 'warps' Spanish culture and 'brings out the worst in human beings'.
They are planning a protest in the capital Madrid in September to call for a ban on bullfighting in Spain, claiming a petition in support of a ban has already notched over 60,000 signatures.
The footage of the unsettling incident was released just days after a flaming bull gored a young man to death in a nearby municipality in Valencia.
Shocking footage showed Adrian Martinez Fernandez, 24, being smashed by a furious beast in the town of Vallada on Sunday, August 21.
The animal whose horns had been set alight for the festival turned Fernandez over and then gored him as terrified festival-goers, standing mere feet away but protected by railings, looked on in disbelief.
The 24-year-old, who had travelled from Almansa to attend the festivities, was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution with no immediately visible injuries.
But the attack had ruptured his spleen and caused several other internal injuries, leaving medical staff with no hope of saving his life.
The City Council later suspended the bullfighting night due to take place later that day, as well as another even scheduled for Monday morning due to the death of the young man.

Czech tennis star, 16: celebrations where father and coach grabbed her BACKSIDE
Sara Bejlek is already out of the US Open but thanks to an awkward video that has gone viral, she has already become one of the talking points of the week.
The 16-year-old Czech qualified for her first Grand Slam tournament by defeating a number of opponents last week, including an impressive win over the UK's Heather Watson.
After that Watson victory, cameras caught two men - identified as Bejlek's father and coach - celebrating with her.
As the cameras lingered, both men were seen patting her on the backside with her father seemingly kissing her on the mouth.
While social media made calls for the WTA to investigate the incident, Bejlek shared her thoughts on the incident.
'Of course I saw the video. It was a spontaneous reaction of the whole team. We rejoiced,' Bejlek said to reporters.
'It may certainly seem inconvenient and uncomfortable to some, but we have already discussed it with the team. It won't happen again.'
While that incident occurred during her first qualifying match, it gained traction just before she took on the world No. 35 player Liudmila Samsonova of Russia.
She lost that match in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Before that match, she responded to concerns and criticisms of the two men pictured.
'Dad is my dad and always will be. And I've known the coach since I was eight years old. He tapes me, he massages me,' she added.
'If something similar happened in the Czech Republic, no one would deal with it. But since we are in America, everyone comments on it.
'But as I say, we talked and it won't happen again.

Pizza Hut advert featuring ex Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev
Pizza Hut advert featuring ex Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev
Russian Forgotten advert Gorbachev made for Pizza Hut
A remarkable Pizza Hut advert filmed in 1997 which featured Mikhail Gorbachev has resurfaced following the death of the former leader of the USSR yesterday aged 91.
Gorbachev was an incredibly liberal and amiable politician whose policies of 'glasnost' (openness) and 'perestroika' (rebuilding) helped bring about an end to the Cold War and introduce sorely needed democratic and economic reform in Russia.
But such radical changes unleashed forces beyond his control, and battles between hardliners intent on preserving centralised power and separatists set on dismantling it hastened the total collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991
Six years later, Gorbachev filmed an advert for the American pizza maker - one of many Western companies that were able to enter Russia in the years following the breakup of the USSR, largely thanks to the former leader's policies.
The end result was used in schools and universities the world over to illustrate the dramatic economic shifts following the collapse of the Soviet Union and showed how Gorbachev was willing to open Russia up to the world, despite his enduringly communist ideals.

drug dealer crashes motorbike into lamppost at 60mph
Harrowing CCTV footage shows the moment a teenage drug dealer crashed a stolen motorbike into a lamppost at 60mph leaving his best friend with catastrophic injuries.
Orlando Piasecke, 19, was travelling at twice the speed limit when he ploughed into a car before being catapulted into the concrete post on April 2 last year.
Shocking video shows the rider being sent flying down the road by the force of the impact while his 19-year-old pillion passenger smashes directly into the lamppost
Piasecke can then be seen callously abandoning his friend with life-changing injuries at the scene on Cotmanhay Road, in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
A court heard the victim was left with a pelvic fracture, multiple leg breaks, a bleed on the brain and may never walk again.
Piasecke, of Ilkeston was arrested but after being released on bail he went on a drug dealing spree which saw him take selfies with bags of white powder.
He was later found with £500 cash and multiple mobile phones, as well as over £1,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine.
Piasecke went on to admit causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance or a licence, and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
He was jailed for six years at Derby Crown Court on August 12.
Sergeant Matt Edwards, of Derbyshire Police said afterwards: 'Piasecke showed little remorse after the crash in which his passenger was very seriously hurt.
'He continued to engage in criminality after his release on bail, by dealing class A drugs across Ilkeston.
'I am pleased that he is now behind bars and that Ilkeston's streets are significantly safer as result.'

Delivery man is nearly crushed by a train in Argentina
Delivery man is nearly crushed by a train in Argentina
This is the reckless moment a delivery man nearly got himself killed when he attempted to ride over a railroad track and was almost run over by a train in Argentina.
The 23-year-old motorcyclist was on his way to make a drop-off in the southeastern Buenos Aires city of Quilmes when he decided to disregard a sign asking motorists to stop at the railroad crossing Saturday night.
The man certainly appeared to be in a rush to get to his destination and rode around a van that had stopped at the intersection.
The biker positioned himself around the lowered gate and looked in both directions, but apparently miscalculated the train's distance and speed.
He subsequently started to advance over the track when the train suddenly rammed into his motorcycle and threw him to the ground.
The impact of the violent sent him crashing to the ground and left his motorcycle in pieces.
The man was transported to Iriarte Hospital and treated for fractures to both of his legs.
The accident comes just almost two weeks after four-year-old Thian Alfaro was killed by a train in the Buenos Aires town of Bosques, according to local media.
The child was walking with his mother to a party on August 14 when he let go of his mother’s hand and ran over the train tracks.
The train engineer did’t have enough time to press the breaks and slammed into the boy, who was declared dead at the scene.
Two days later, a 24-year-old Peruvian mother was returning from a doctor’s appointment with her five-month-old baby when she was killed by a cargo train in the central Argentine municipality of Córdoba.
Authorities said Pamela Farro was surprised by the train and tossed her infant to the ground to save its life. The baby was hospitalized with a head injury.

funeral pyre EXPLODES during cremation in Cambodia
funeral pyre EXPLODES during cremation in Cambodia
A Buddhist priest has been killed while performing a cremation after a funeral pyre exploded in front of him in Cambodia.
Hoeun Soeun, 72, was saying prayers while pouring petrol on wood to cremate a 20-year-old man who died in a motorcycle accident in Kampong Cham province.
Footage shows how the religious leader in white robes was walking to the front of the kiln when the blast suddenly blew the metal door off.
The pensioner was smashed in the face by the steel door and knocked to the ground.
Police investigated the death at the pagoda in the Cheung Prey district and ruled the priest's death was 'unaccounted for'.
They said that this was the first known accident of this kind at a funeral site.
Deputy Police Chief Liutenant Colonel Seng Lino said that the priest had been burning corpses for more than 40 years and the incident happened while he set the corpse of the youth on fire with wood and 30 litres of gasoline.
He added: 'When the priest lit the corpse, the crematorium furnace exploded and the large steel door was blown off from the force.
'The door hit him on the forehead causing him to die instantly due to the serious injuries.
'The cause of the explosion is not known. The priest was very experienced and had performed thousands of cremations.'
Police said that due to the circumstances of the death, locals believe that the priest's body should not be cremated and his remains have been sent to his family for burial.
The policeman said that the kiln was now being checked in order to ensure it is safe for future cremations.
