My Biggest Advertising Mistake (and What I Learned)
My biggest advertising mistake and what I learned. Many people assume I've always been at the level I'm at now, and the level I'm at now isn't the best. I can still get better and improve. But I'm a New York Times bestselling author. I'm a sought-after entrepreneur and marketer. I'm a thought leader in the digital marketing space. And that's not to brag. Behind every success story are thousands of failures, and my biggest failure was one for the books. In fact, it ended up costing me over a million dollars. $1,250,391, to be exact. That's a lot of money, and it was a mistake I'm still learning from all the time. Can you guess what it was? Do you think it was a social media misstep or betting big on an SEO strategy that didn't pan out? It wasn't either of those things.

It was all about my website's messaging, and that mistake was so big that one of my best-ever business ideas almost collapsed entirely. Here's what happened.
I started a website called Kissmetrics in 2008, and it was an analytics business. It was an awesome website centered around helping users gain access to essential and actionable metrics surrounding user behavior. But the value prop was never clear. I spent years tinkering with that headline, but no success to show for it.
I started going shorter with my headlines, working harder to find a way to make my main value prop really stand out. I started using social proof and offering free trials to boost credibility. And guess what? I got almost an instantaneous 40% bump in conversions. And that means for three years I was losing out on 40% of my conversions.
What I learned, lesson number one, your value prop is everything. And if you're not sure on how to create amazing value prop, what I recommend that you do is survey our audience. Use tools like SurveyMonkey or Crazy Egg or Hot Jar to figure out what issues people have. Use a lot of those keywords within your messaging and give them a solution to their problem. Because if you're using the keywords that they're using you're much more likely to resonate with them and drive more conversions.
Lesson two, social proof is essential. If something has a thousand sales but only has two out of five stars are you going to buy it? Probably not. What you're looking for is those products that have a four, four and a half, if not a five star rating on average. Five is a little bit hard. And then you're looking at the reviews and see what people have to say that are both positive and negative to figure out if that purchase is right for you. So you really want to think about social proof and showing a lot of reviews out there.
Lesson three, offer free trials. Back in the day when I created a business, my first business, things were much more expensive to create versus now, right? With cloud computing and the way technology has shaped businesses, it's a lot more affordable to just give people your product or service and let 'em try out a little sample before they have to buy. It's a great way to build trust and boost conversions.
Lesson four, build trust with your audience. If someone doesn't trust your brand, why would they buy from you? You're more likely to purchase from a trustworthy brand because you know you're not going to get ripped off and you're going to get what you pay for. Remember, time is money. People don't like making mistakes 'cause that costs them time.
Lesson five, understand that attention spans are short. I wanted my audience to get to know how great Kissmetrics was, but I didn't understand that 80% of readers will never make it past the headline. Make your point and make it early. If you don't, you're going to end up losing a lot of people. And as I mentioned, your headline should solve people's problems. If they can't figure out what problem you're solving through your headline, you've lost 'em. Even if they read further, chances are they're not going to convert.

8 Ways to Increase Your Website Traffic FAST and FOR FREE
Eight ways to increase your traffic to your website fast and for free. Whether you're just starting a website or you've been out there for a while and you just want more traffic, this video is going to break down how you can add some extra digits to your visitor account. As long as you keep doing these tactics consistently, you'll see results. They tend to work fast and bring in traffic the right way in the first few weeks of doing them consistently. But here's the key. If you don't do them consistently, you're not going to get the best results. So I'm going to break down some of these sources for you and strategies.

Quora: https://www.quora.com/
Canva: https://www.canva.com/
Facebook groups: https://www.facebook.com/groups/feed/
Restream: https://try.restream.io/
LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
First one I have for you is Quora. With Quora, there are so many people looking for questions and answers to those questions. So I want you to start answering. Don't spam. Don't create anything that's sketchy. Literally just provide tons of good value. And when you have a article on your website related to the question you just answered, link to it. No affiliate links, nothing like that. You'll find that you can get literally thousands of visitors from Quora.
Next, I want you to start using Canva to create infographics. When you create infographics and publish them on your website, what you'll find is people love linking to infographics, and you don't have to come up with the data. Go use Ubersuggest to go and find the most popular pages on your competitor's website.
The third source I have for you is participate in Facebook groups. There's Facebook groups in every industry. No one talks about Facebook groups anymore. But you know what? They work. Go in there, add a ton of value, keep adding more value. And then you want to know what you need to do next? Add even more value. And after you add tons of value, then I want you to eventually link out to your site where it makes sense, and that will drive traffic.
The fourth tactic I have for you is Instagram stories. With your stories, talk about products, blog posts, podcasts that you have, anything that you're selling, any promotions, and have them swipe up to go to your website. That drives direct traffic and you can do that multiple times a week.
The next source I have for you is using Restream. So when you use Restream, you can go live on all these sites; YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and the list goes on and on. And when you do that, when you're doing live sessions, you can also tell people about products, services, promotions you have to offer. They'll go to your website. It drive traffic as well.
The sixth strategy I have for you is carousels on LinkedIn. With LinkedIn, if you upload a PDF that's many pages, it turns it into carousel. People can swipe, kind of like a infographic, and get all that data at once. Creates tons of engagement and comments and more followers. When you keep posting these carousels, you get way more followers on LinkedIn.
Number seven, another social network that I love, Twitter. Not because it drives a lot of traffic, because it really doesn't, but the people on Twitter are a high caliber, especially in the B2B segment. So if you participate on Twitter, leave comments, interact with others, leave comments on the stuff that's going viral. You'll get way more followers, and then when you post links to your website, it will then all add up.
The last strategy I have for you, and this is one of my favorite ones, release a free tool on your website. It's a gift that keeps on giving. You can go to tools like CodeCanyon, or more so, sites like CodeCanyon, get some free tools or tools that are like 10, 15, $20, release them for free on your website. You're allowed to 'cause they allow you to white label them, depending on the tool. And then boom, over time, you'll just get more traffic. That's how you keep growing your traffic.

My Favorite Social Media Strategy You Can Implement ASAP
My favorite social media strategy, which you can implement ASAP. I post on social media all the time. It's an amazing way to connect with my audience and super easy. But you want to know my favorite way to boost my social presence? It's super easy and ties in beautifully with something you probably already do. Target your email subscribers. Think about it. What better audience to target than someone who's already connected with you?
According to HubSpot, 77% of markers have seen an increase in email engagement over the last 12 months. Let's discuss how you can use it with your social media efforts.
Remember, these are people that already want your content. They've already signed up. Now, if you target them in your email campaigns, you are going after, in essence, enthusiastic leads. These are people who are more likely to actually take action.

So I want you to add a CTA to each email you send out and include various social icon buttons below. Your most loyal customers are probably the ones that still want emails from you. That means they are also more likely to share your content on social media once they follow you there.
It's also super important that you align your content strategies, so they work together. Both marketing channels should create relatively similar content. So here are five actionable ways to use this tactic.
So first off, I recommend you email out your best social content to your email subscribers once a week. That allows me to get, A, more YouTube subscribers, and B, more views on my social content. So these people will go from just reading my blog to now also starting to follow me on social media. You can do that with Instagram, TikTok, or whatever it may be. Start linking out; it will be a great way to get more followers. That's super simple.
My second strategy for you is to do live sessions on social media. So whether it's through tools like Restream or whether you're just going live only on Instagram or LinkedIn or whatever platform you choose. I recommend you do all of them.
The third strategy I have for you is to do interviews with other well-known people. See, your social profiles may not have a lot of followers like Tony Robbins, the Kardashians, or even me. I don't have as many as them.
But a strategy that I use is, sometimes, I'll do interviews with other people on my social profiles, like, we'll go live together or do video interviews together, and I'll email it out. I tell them, "I'll email out to my list; you email out to your list." I'll get more followers, and they'll get more brand awareness. It's a win-win for both of us.
The fourth strategy I have for you is to post unique content at least once a week on each of your social platforms. So sometimes I have content just for YouTube, sometimes just for Instagram, sometimes for TikTok, and sometimes just for LinkedIn. You get the point. And what I'll do in my newsletters is every once in a while, I'll link people to that unique content on that channel and let them know I post unique content there on a monthly basis. And if they follow me on that platform, they'll get access to it.
My fifth strategy for you is to run a contest. Contests are super popular. Just think about any sporting event you go to. When you go to a sporting event, they often do contests, like text a number, and you can win X thousand dollars or buy some raffle tickets. They wouldn't do this stuff if it didn't work. So even though you're like, "Ah, contest, who's going to apply?" There's a good chance. Use your email list to push people to the contest, whether on Instagram or LinkedIn. And in the contest, you can tell people they got to repost your content, leave a comment, or tag you in something. This all helps you get more followers and get more engagement.
Remember, your email list has your most active users. These are people who subscribed and gave you something, some personal information, to keep getting information from you. Those are the people you want on your social platforms following you.

Free Resources to Learn Instagram Marketing
Free resources to learn Instagram marketing. According to stats, there are over 1 billion users on Instagram. Wouldn't you love to learn how to market to them? Well, today, I'm going to break down seven free resources to teach you marketing on Instagram.
RESOURCES & LINKS:

HubSpot: https://www.hubspot.com/
Simplilearn: https://www.simplilearn.com/
Later: https://later.com/
Coursera: https://www.coursera.org/
Class Central's: https://www.classcentral.com/
The Meta blueprint: https://www.facebookblueprint.com/student/catalog
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Resource number one: Instagram unlocked. You can find it on the neilpatel.com website, and this training is a six-part video course that teaches you all aspects of Instagram. From how to get more followers to how to analyze your stats, to even how to run ads, and even sell on Instagram. What's cool about this course is: There are cheat sheets, homework assignments, planners, calendars, and other worksheets to make your life easier. So even if you're new to Instagram, if you follow the worksheets, it'll help you out drastically.
Resource number two: Instagram marketing by HubSpot. The course has 21 videos, six lessons, and six quizzes. It's a whopping two hours and 30 minutes long. You have to sign up to view the course, but it's free to sign up. One of the lessons I love in this course is how to create a remarkable Instagram ad content. They also have a lesson on creating remarkable content, just in general, in case you don't want to run Instagram ads.
Resource number three: Instagram marketing basics by Simplilearn. If you're just starting with Instagram and you haven't figured out the basics yet or the correct way to even set up your profile, this course is great for you. It doesn't go over too many advanced elements, such as monetization and how to use it as a business tool, but it's a great resource for getting started. This course is roughly two hours long, all video-based, and upon completion, you get a completion certificate in case you want to use it to help you get a job.
Resource four: Instagram training by Later. If you aren't familiar with Later, it's a social media marketing tool. They have a whole section on Instagram training. What's cool about their training is: it's short and to the point. It's not really laid out like a course format, but you can quickly find where you need help, read an article about it, or watch a video about it on Later, and boom, you're off into the races. It's great if you're self-sufficient.
Resource five: Increase Instagram engagement on your business profile by Coursera. The reason I wanted to highlight this course is because business profiles tend not to get as much engagement. This course is designed to fix that. It breaks down step by step, how you can create the popular business profile. This is important because business profiles are easier to monetize. And if you don't have an ad budget, you of course, still want traction. This course will help you with all of that.
Resource six: Class Central's Instagram repository. If you have a lot of time, this is worth checking out. They literally have many courses on Instagram, it's too many to count, and they have them in different languages, from Arabic to French to German, and the list goes on and on. It's going to be more time-consuming than most of the other courses and resources I mentioned today, but if you want to get into the nitty gritty about every aspect of Instagram and you don't mind putting in the time, it's worth checking out .
Last but not least, resource seven: The Meta blueprint. The more you are on Instagram, the more Facebook makes. They have a whole section on their website on how to sell online using Meta platforms. From Facebook to Instagram, they cover all the ad technologies extremely well. It's worth checking this resource out if you're considering running paid ads. Funny enough, I would check out this resource before starting to run any ads anyways. It's always great to get the platform's point of view.

My Favorite Business Hack
My favorite business hack. In business you need to generate a lot of demand to generate income. Whatever it is; whether it's leads or visitors, you just need demand. But how do you create the demand when you don't have the marketing dollars maybe compared to your competitors? It's simple. And what's crazy about it is I don't get why other people don't do this on a regular basis. This is one of the cornerstones to my marketing.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
HubSpot: https://www.hubspot.com/
Dentsu: https://www.dentsu.com/
WPP: https://www.wpp.com/
Omnicom: https://www.omnicomgroup.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
So here's a hack. You give away something small that everyone is used to paying for and you sell those people on something that's much bigger. Here's an example. You know about Ubersuggest, right? Ubersuggest is an SEO tool on neilpatel.com. Check it out. You can put it in a keyword, a website URL. It'll tell you your traffic, your backlinks, your mistakes that you're making on your SEO errors, even your competition.
Did you know that that product is mainly for free? Sure, there's some paid features, but 95 plus percent of that product is free. Do you know how I give away most of the tool for free and why my competitors charge $99 a month for theirs? Why is that? It's because there's more money in marketing services than there is in marketing software.
HubSpot is probably the biggest marketing tool out there and they do a bit over a billion dollars a year in revenue. On the flip side, Dentsu, WPP, Omnicom, these are all marketing service providers and you may have not even heard of some of them. They each roughly generate 10 plus billion dollars in revenue. In other words, there's not a lot of HubSpots, but there's a lot of marketing agencies that generate a ton of money.
So by giving away software for free, it generates thousands and thousands of leads per month. And then you sell users on something bigger. Try it. You just have to figure out what to give away for free and what you can sell to each of those people that is much bigger that can generate you way more revenue.
Now make sure whatever you give away for free is super valuable, and everyone else charges for it, and ideally they charge a lot of money for it. And make sure you can upsell those people into something bigger. For example, I can't give away free payroll software and upsell everyone on marketing. People who buy payroll software aren't really interested in marketing services. So they have to be related. And if you're wondering why I do this is because it's cheaper to give away something for free than it is to pay for the marketing.
Every year, marketing continually gets more expensive. And I see this trend continuing in the future. So might as well just get ahead of the trend and figure out how to organically drive those visitors without having to pay for them or paying a arm and a leg. And that's usually by giving away something for free that people typically charge for.
And you can do this in both B2C and B2B. A great example of this is, Orabrush used to offer a tongue cleaner for free. And by doing this, they created a lot of demand. Then they upsold people into teeth whitening, and tooth care, and toothbrushes. And they made enough money, they were successful. They eventually sold the business, why? It was cheaper to give away something for free than it was to pay for the marketing on Google Ads or SEO, or any other form of marketing.

You May Not Want Google to Rank Your Site in All Countries
You may not want Google to rank your site in all countries. The other day on Reddit, someone asked, "I have just added a new domain property to Google Search Console. I want to specify the country where my website should be visible because it's an e-commerce website. How do I add targeting country and robots.txt from my new website?" A Google employee named Gary Ellis responded with, "Generally, there's no need to specify geographic targeting in Search Console. Google can just figure out from all the other signals such as different parts of the url or let's say even if people are bouncing." And then Gary went on to say, "You should look at how other companies like Amazon do things from a SEO perspective when it comes to international SEO."

So why am I bringing this up? It's because International SEO is huge. Did you know that I get over 82% of my traffic to the neilpatel.com NP digital website from outside of the United States?
In other words, don't take the rest of the world for granted because it can help you generate a lot of revenue. But here's the issue. Translating and transcribing your content for every language you want to target whether you're e-commerce site or B2C site or a B2B site, is a bad idea. You should only target regions where you want to be helpful. Here's why. If you expand into other regions just to get traffic but you don't really offer great products or services or even a great experience within those regions, it's going to hurt your overall SEO.
How you may ask? No matter how good your website is or your marketing is, or even your bounce rate is people are not going to go back to your site or even click on your listings if they know your products and services aren't tailored to them. In other words, it's going to hurt your overall SEO.
So only focus your website, your content, your products, your services on the languages and regions you want to target. And here are some tips when it comes to international SEO.
First, transcribe your content. Don't just translate it. When you want to go after new regions and languages, you have to adapt your content to what people in that region expect. With culture being different all over the world, you'll find that translating your content word for word just won't work. You'll have to customize it to each region.
Second, you'll have to use hreflang. Hreflang tells search engines and browsers that pages on your website are countries and languages. If you're wondering how to use hreflang, this tool by Aleyda Solis will help you. And with this tool, it'll give you the code that you need to put on your website. That code goes into the head part of your website.
Third, you need to build links within the region you're targeting. You can hire someone from Upwork who knows marketing and they know your space within that region. They can reach out to your websites, build relationships, beg for links. It works. It's a numbers game, but it really does work. Or if you want more skill, you want to grow faster, you can hire agency like mine, NP Digital where we are awarded Agency of the Year to reach out and build you links throughout the whole world which we do for hundreds of clients. Without back links, you won't get much SEO traffic.
Fourth, you need to consider generating PR. PR creates brand queries, which is when someone searches for your company name on Google or your website name. This helps with your rankings and traffic. Just think about Nike. Did you know over 7 million people in the United States are searching for Nike each and every single month on Google? Less than 2 million people on a monthly basis are searching for shoes. Nike has a bigger brand than the term shoes. What does that tell Google? Nike's powerful, people recognize them and they should rank them higher.

Google’s Helpful Content Update
Google's helpful content update. Have you noticed that when you search, some of the content that is ranked on Google is just obviously written for search engines. And when you read that content it provides little to no value. Some of those pieces of content contain even tons of keywords that don't really flow within the article.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
So why do people write these kind of content pieces? Well, it's because they want more SEO traffic. But what's the problem with that? It creates a terrible experience for users. So what did Google do? They released the helpful content update, in which their goal is to rank non-helpful content not as high. They want to rank that non-helpful content lower, and they want to rank the helpful content, which is great and amazing, and is not created for search engines, higher.
Now, here's what Google has told us about the update.
They first said, Focus on writing content for people. and they give us feedback such as: "After reading your content, "will someone leave feeling like they've learned enough "about the topic to help them achieve their goals? "Will someone reading your content feel like "they have had a satisfying experience? "Does your content clearly demonstrate first-hand expertise "and depth of knowledge? "For example, expertise that comes from "having actually used "a proctor service or visiting a place?" Second, they said, "Don't focus on writing content for search engines." And here's what they mean by that: "Is the content primarily "to attract people from search engines "rather than made for humans? "Are you producing lots of content on different topics "in hopes that some of it "might perform well in search results? "Are you mainly summarizing what others have to say "without adding much value? "Are you using extensive automation "to produce content on many topics? "So what does all this that Google has told you, "mean for you?
Well, number one: Google wants you to focus your content on a specific industry or niche. As Google stated, they prefer that you don't create lots of content on different topics. They want you to focus. Be the expert. Know what you're talking about. That way people get the most value.
Number two: make sure your content is executable. If someone reads your content and they don't have any specific takeaway, and they don't know what to do next, your content is failing. What I like to do, and here's a quick solution for this. Is, at the end of my articles, I summarize my learnings through a conclusion section and I label that section 'Conclusion' And I define my key takeaways. That way, in case someone just wants to skim, they can just get the main points from the conclusion.
Number three: continually update your content. Things change over time. Don't assume that if you write a piece of content it'll keep getting traffic. As things get stale, your traffic will go down. It's sad, but it's reality. Keep your content up-to-date, fresh, relevant, so it provides users with the most benefit. When updating your content, it's not about how much you change, it's more about what do you need to do to keep it amazing. And that could be very little or it could mean that you make a lot of changes.
Try to update your content at least once a year, and if you're confused on how, how to make content more amazing, search for your main keywords that your article ranks for on Google, or you wish to rank for on Google, and look at all the people that are ranking that aren't your website, and see what they're doing that's different than you are. That'll give you ideas on how to make your content more amazing and ideally even better than theirs.
Number four: adding your secret sauce. What do you know about the others don't? What have you experienced that others haven't? By adding in your secret sauce and your personal experiences, you are more likely you get social shares back links and generate more traffic. If you're just regurgitating what everyone else is already saying, then there's nothing unique. So in every content piece, try to add your personal experiences. That's how you beat the helpful content update. You just go above and beyond and delight users.

A Better Way to Advertise on YouTube
YouTube is the second most popular site on the web according to Similarweb. It is also the second most popular search engine in the world after Google. And many companies advertise on YouTube because it drives sales. But the problem is that it is expensive, it is difficult to make a profitable ad. But, why? It's because everyone does the same old things where they choose certain keywords, audiences and videos they want to target and show their ads to those people. And what most companies do is trust their creativity.
They believe that the copy and design of their ads is what impacts sales the most. And yes, this has a huge impact on conversions and you shouldn't take it for granted, but you'll still find it's hard to scale your YouTube ads properly if you do what everyone else is doing. So I want you to try something new when it comes to your ads.

First, I want you to add the Google watch pixel to your website. You can find out how to do this step by step, just go to this URL. Follow Google's instructions and set this up. This will allow you to show everyone who visits your site an ad when they browse YouTube. Now you don't want to show an ad to everyone, more so, you want to show the ad to the right people, the qualified people.
Second, you need to be very specific with your ad. Think of all the holes in your marketing that can keep people from buying, address all those problems in your video ad. Also, use all the basics that help get people to the finish line, like social proof, like press quotes, value proposition, pricing, any money-back guarantee you offer, or free trial, showing reviews. of customers, anything that sets you apart, it will all help.
Third, send people to a different page on your site. The big mistake people make with their ads is that they send people back to the same page they were on before when they didn't convert. For example, if I were selling a product or service and I had a landing page showing a bunch of facts and data about why people should buy from me, if someone didn't convert the first time they saw it, the next time I can do it. With them coming back to my site from remarketing, I would send them to a landing page with more emotional appeal.
Fourth, continually test new strategies. You won't always get the results you want right away. It takes time to test and adjust your campaigns so they convert the way you want them to, from your landing page, to your ad copy, to your creative, even to your targeting, you need to be patient and continually focus on execution.
Fifth, don't forget to add upsells and downsells. When you go to McDonald's and order fries, they often ask, "Hey, do you want a bigger fries?" You order a hamburger, they'll ask you, "Do you want a drink and fries with that? Do you want a meal, do you want a happy meal, do you want a toy?" They are constantly trying to get more money from you. It's easier to generate more money from your existing customers than it is to get new ones. Just like McDonald's, you want to add some upsells and downsells, this helps to generate more revenue.
Any upsell that helps deliver better results or makes results happen faster is an easy way to get people to upsell. Lastly, focus on repeat customers. According to Alex Schultz try out YouTube ads to cold traffic as well, but I also want you to try the strategy I just broke down.

7 Marketing Tactics That Provide Quick Results
Seven marketing tactics that provide quick results. Look, I'll preach about the power of long-term marketing strategy and SEO. And don't worry, even though I love SEO, I'm not going to focus on it because I know SEO takes a longer time to get results. It doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, but sometimes as a business, you just need results right now. So, let's dive into some strategies that will work.

Number one, launch a referral program. Did you know that a referred customer's 18% more loyal than a customer acquired by other means? That trust is so important when it comes to building brand loyalty. Think about your network. If you know some people and you know some people that may know some other people, then you got to tap into your network. A referral program can promote your brand quickly and incentivize people to do so.
Tactic number two, create a content calendar. Want to set yourself up for success moving forward? A content calendar just may be the piece that's missing. A content calendar can serve as a structural backbone to your entire blogging strategy. You can use it to plan content, collaborate with your team, track due dates, and map out when you're going to post on certain channels.
Tactic number three, use VistaCreate. Want to make stunningly beautiful social posts insanely fast? VistaCreate is an amazing tool that I've been using lately that really helps me craft great looking content in a matter of minutes. And the best part, you barely need any design experience. You can choose colors, objects, and photos and edit everything with the background remover tool and make it all look cohesive. You can animate everything and include all the necessary information that you need within your images.
Tactic four, give away a tool for free. Look, realistically, you may never be looking to keep up with all the content that's being created in your industry, and it's hard to do so. You can't blog 10 times a day, you can't read 10 blog posts a day, you can't be on social media all the time, so it's hard to keep up with content, whether it's from the creation side or consumption side. But you know what people love? Tools.
My Ubersuggest tool has over 20,000 natural backlinks. It generates literally over 2 million visitors a month. How, you may ask? Well, it's because I give away the tool mainly for free. At one point it was purely for free, and if you don't have the time and energy to create a tool for free like Ubersuggest and spend that much time and attention into it, you can go to sites like CodeCanyon and just go buy a tool within your industry for 10 to $50, and they allow you to white label it and put it on your website and act like it's your own.
Tactic five, batch your posts on social media. Building off that content calendar tip, this is one of the best ways to save yourself a ton of time and make sure that your social posts hit during the right moment where everyone is online.
Tactic six, host a contest. Want explosive growth really fast? Well, running a contest might just be the right thing for you. Look, a lot of companies dismiss contests. You can do things like offering an iPad for free or a computer. It's literally endless. Survey your audience, figure out what you think they'll like, and leverage that in your contest. And you can use tools like ViralSweep to help run your contest. It's super effective. That way you don't have to hire a developer.
Tactic seven, write about new, exciting topics. Chances are your competition is fighting all over the same keywords and topics as you are, so why not beat them to the punch on the next one? Tools like Exploding Topics can help you catch the topic at a early moment, right before it gets too big and oversaturated, and you can capitalize that with your audience.
Now, those are strategies to get you traffic quicker and not just rely on SEO. If you want my team to help you implement some of them or other strategies that we use, check out my ad agency, NP Digital.

How To Future Proof Your SEO Against Google’s Next Update
How to future proof your SEO against Google's next update. You've put in all this time and effort into your SEO strategy and all of a sudden, boom, Google wants to change things up on you. An update can have a major impact on your SEO strategy. It can cause your content to slip in the rankings and even give your competition a leg up. Unless you're prepared. Future proofing your SEO strategy is absolutely essential because updates happen all the time.

In fact, since 2016 there have been 16 Google core updates. Future proofing your SEO strategy is absolutely essential because updates happen all the time. Heck, since 2018, there have been roughly three Google core updates each and every single year. And here's even a crazier number. There's roughly 4,500 times that Google changes their algorithm each and every single year according to Search Engine Land. Now, most of these changes aren't major ones so you're not going to notice them. But still, that's a lot of time that goes into adjusting and tweaking Google's algorithm.
And some of these changes are so teeny tiny that your traffic just goes up a little bit or down a little bit and you don't really need to worry about those. But every once in a while, you're going to have a major update that drastically changes your traffic, and those are the ones that you need to future proof yourself from.
So how can you future proof your SEO so that way you can stay ahead of Google's next update? Well leave a comment below guessing what it might be. I'll give you a hint. Focus on user experience. Think about it. Every Google update has essentially the same overall goal, make the algorithm more reflective of human behavior. So think about what is best for people, not what's best for Google. That way the pages that users are actually searching for and spending time on are the ones that tend to do the best.
Google doesn't care if you have a million backlinks versus 5 million backlinks or a hundred thousand. Think about it, whenever you do a search, are you like, hmm, this result is number one and it should be because it has a million backlinks. You don't care about that as a user, you just care about the user experience. Are you getting what you're looking for? So there's a few ways you can prioritize your user experience and give users what they're looking for.
Now, when Google has an update, sometimes even if you do all this stuff, sometimes you lose and you get less traffic. That's okay. You're not optimizing for the short run, you're optimizing for the long run. Cause a lot of times what happens is Google will make changes and realize, wait, this actually wasn't the best change for the user. Let me go actually make this other change. And over time, if you do what's best for the end user, you'll find that you'll continually grow your traffic over time. That's the key with future proofing your website for SEO.
Now, if you just want my ad agency, NP Digital to just do this all for you, check us out, hit us up. We were the agency of the year and we have a great track record of doing this.
