If you could avoid one SEO mistake, what would it be? Now, there are tons of big no-nos when it comes to SEO. The more obvious red flags that can actually get you penalized include things like keyword stuffing, using a ton of duplicate content, buying backlinks, and things like that. But there's one major issue I see a ton of newbies make and it's probably not the one you think, of because when people think of SEO, they think of keywords, backlinks, meta descriptions, and things like that. The thing I see that people look over all the time that's killing their SEO strategy is not optimizing their UX. See, search engines don't just evaluate webpages based on the keywords you use or how many backlinks you have.
Tip number one, optimize your page speed. 88.5% of visitors leave a website because of slow load time. Just imagine, you pick up your phone, you go to do a Google search, you click on a result, one second, two seconds, three seconds, still not loaded, four seconds, five seconds, six seconds, halfway loaded, seven seconds, eight seconds, nine seconds, fully loaded. That's a long time. You're going to leave the site. Make sure your code is clean using a CDN, which is a content delivery network, so that way your website is on servers all over the web.
Tip number two, optimize your images and content. Updating and republishing old blog posts with new content and images can increase traffic by as much as 106%. According to HTTP Archive, images make up an average of 21% of a total webpage's weight, so make sure that you're compressing the images, not in size, I'm talking about file size, so not in dimensions, but more so file sizes of where you want to compress 'em, and when you update your content, optimize your images, make sure that they're images on what people are looking for, you're going to be much better off.
Tip number three, make sure your headlines are perfect. 36% of SEO experts said that the headlines were the most important SEO element. David Ogilvy always used to say, "80 cents on the dollar spent on the headline." So you got to make sure that your headline is amazing, and there's a lot of stats out there that show this. Eight out of 10 people read a headline, two out of 10 people read the rest of your content. So you got to really focus on the headline and make it catchy. What I like doing is running A/B tests using paid ads with different headlines to figure out what people like the most.
Tip number four, simplify your website's navigation. 84.6% of web designers believe that crowded web design is the most common mistake made by small businesses, and look, simplify your navigation, simplify what's on a page, remove unnecessary elements, it just makes things easier for people to navigate. If you're not sure if you're making things simpler or worse, you can always use analytics tools like Crazy Egg which shows you where people click. You can also survey 'em, and on top of that, if you want to do a lot of user testing, check out usertesting.com which can also give you more feedback.
Tip number five, improve your mobile experience. Google recently reported that 60% of searches are completed on your phone. That's a lot. How's your mobile experience? Is it amazing, is it bad? Majority of the people that visit your website eventually, if not already, will be from mobile devices. Look at a lot of social networks that you use, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok. Where do you find them? Mobile devices. It's super important that you optimize your site to be responsive so that way your website can expand if someone has a big desktop computer, a laptop, an iPad, a small mobile phone, or a big mobile phone, a responsive design adapts so that way it fits all these devices.

This is What Will Happen with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok Whether You Like it Or Not
This is what will happen with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok whether you like it or not. When Snapchat hit the market, it was a great success. So successful that Instagram started to copy some of their features. And it made Instagram even more popular. Snapchat, still today, is a success. But a lot of people have their features. And Instagram has grown into a large corporation now. So much that it's said that it's estimated to be worth over $100 billion according to EarthWeb.
Now, of course, Instagram's, you know, owned by Facebook. But still, that's a large chunk of Facebook's market cap. Eventually, TikTok came out and people started to do the same with them. They started to copy TikTok's features. Just look at YouTube Shorts. It's similar to TikTok. According to Statista, YouTube shorts has over 30 billion, with a B, monthly views. That's a lot of views. Do you see a pattern here? Everyone is copying each other.

If something is working for your competitors and you aren't doing it, you are going to lose market share and business. Here's what I want you to do with your company when someone is out innovating you.
First, I want you to look at what they're doing. What's causing their growth? Copy it. You can figure out what's working for them by using tools like Ubersuggest. There's also a similar web out there as well. And it tells you, "Hey, here's what your competitor's doing. Here's where they're getting all their traffic. Here's what's working. Here's what's not." And you can also survey your audience and figure out what they like about your competition. You can use tools like SurveyMonkey to perform this and it'll tell you, "Hey, this is overall feedback." Some people give you random stuff. Some people will give you great feedback. But when you survey, not 10, but 30, 40, 50, 60 people, even 100, you'll start noticing patterns. And look for the patterns and that's what you should focus on first.
Second, I want you to hire better talent. Not saying that your team isn't great, but you can always have better talent. Go on LinkedIn and see who works for some of your competitors. Who are they using that's outshining you, right? Look at the competitors that are growing faster than you, have those amazing features or products that you don't have. They must have some amazing talent. You just got to go find them. So go on LinkedIn, look at their employees. Look at what business units that they're in charge of, the products or the services that you're trying to copy. Look to see their work history. If they have continually gotten promotions and they stay at companies for a while, those are good people.
Third, start experimenting. Copying your competition is one thing. But if you really want to win, you have to one up them. The one way to beat them is to start experimenting. There's no guarantee that something works the way you want. And sometimes when you think something won't work out, in many cases it does. That's why you want to run at least one experiment a month, and ideally, one a week. Over time, you'll learn how to create a better product or service, and even win over your competition. And when you're running these experiments, don't get demotivated from the failures. Just keep in mind the more you fail, eventually you'll go down a path that leads you down the right way and helps you win.
Now, I know with this strategy you probably don't like hearing that "Hey, if your competition's doing something you're not doing, you got to start learning how to copy, execute faster, or one up then by making whatever you copy better than them." But it's the reality. If you say, "Hey, I'm not interested in copying my competitor's products or features," like how Google may try or Apple or Facebook may try. You think Apple's Cloud storage was new? Dropbox was doing amazing job, but Apple came out. They got iCloud, started eating into their market cap. And when I say copy, it doesn't mean it has to be pixel for pixel copycat of what they're doing. It's idea. It's a strategy.
You need to figure out how it can tie into your business, how it can fit with your customers, and how you need to mold that product or service or strategy or feature to fit your audience. And that may not look identical to your competition. That's what I mean by copy.

How Google Uses NLP and How You Can Too With Your SEO
Have you noticed that when you search on Google, in most cases, they know what you're looking for? It's because they're using NLP. NLP stands for Natural Linguistic Processing. This helps Google understand that when you search for terms like Apple, are you actually looking for the food or the computer company that sells phones. They use NLP in their algorithm updates just like BERT and MUM. Here's a rough overview of NLP and how it's used by search engines.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
You first have speech recognition, text to speech and speech to text. Then you have extracting the meaning of sentences and parts of sentences or phrases, such as adjectives like, "Too short," or propositional phrases like, "To the house." Then you have recognizing basic forms of words and acquisition of grammatical information. Then you got recognizing functions of individual words in a sentence, such as a subject, a verb, objective, or even an article. Then you have segmenting previously captured speech into individual words, sentences, and phrases. Without boring you with all the details, search engines are using NLP to figure out what your content's all about and matching it to what people or searchers want. This means their rankings aren't just going to be based off of keywords.
So when you're doing your SEO, don't think about keywords, but more so think about topics. What is everything that you need to cover on a specific webpage to be thorough about your topic, and to make sure people are like, "Whoa, this article covered everything. "I don't need to go to another source." That way, there's no uncertainty for the reader or visitor. So how do you do this?
First off, I want you to head over to Ubersuggest, and type in a keyword related to the topic you're focusing on. And you'll want to do this with all the main keywords that the topic that you're covering is about. For example, I'm using here the term digital marketing. In the left-hand navigation, I want you to click on keyword ideas. This is where you can find a lot of different keywords. I want you to click on the different tabs, related questions, and prepositions. This is where you'll find a lot more keywords, and many of them are based on NLP. Integrating some of those words and concepts into your topics will help ensure that your content is thorough, which will help you rank higher.
Now, if some of those keywords aren't related to the topic that you're covering, don't include them. Don't just add in these keywords for the sake of trying to get more traffic. Make sure you're focusing on the best user experience.
The next step I want you to take is to use an AI writer in the lab section of Ubersuggest. The AI writer uses NLP to figure out what people are looking for related to any keyword. Now, the AI writer won't write a whole article for you and I wouldn't publish it in its form. But it'll give you a start and save you around half the time it takes of writing content. So head over to the AI writer on the left-hand navigation.
From there, put in the keyword you want the article to be about. For this example, I selected the term marketing. Then select a title that works for you. Then select a meta description that works for you from the list provided. Then select a few headings.
Now, keep in mind when you're selecting the title, the meta description, the headings, keep in mind you can modify this later on. So it doesn't have to be perfect. And once you go to the final step, boom, within seconds, Ubersuggest will spit out an article for you.
Again, I wouldn't recommend publishing that article in this current state, but you can use it as a starting route. Fill in the rest, modify it, shift around how things are laid out. Add some images, videos, expand upon the text. In other words, make it so amazing, people won't need to read another article. And that's how you can use NLP to improve your SEO.
Now, if you just want my team to do all of this for you, check out our ad agency, NP Digital, where we help companies from all sizes and from all over the world grow. If you have any questions, leave a comment below. I'm here to help. If you enjoyed the video, like it, share it, tell other people about it. Thank you for your time.

7 Tips For Selecting a Performance Marketing Agency
Seven tips for selecting a performance marketing agency. I've been in the marketing world for over 20 years now, specifically performance marketing, also known as digital marketing. I know they're a little bit different but still performance marketing, digital marketing, a lot of overlapping there. And one way to get your marketing done is to hire a agency. If you make the right choice, you'll grow, you'll thrive and you'll succeed. If you make the wrong choice, you'll waste time, money and get little to no results. So how do you ensure that you are going to pick the right agency? Here are some tips to help you.
RESOURCES & LINKS:

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Tip number one, look for agencies that win awards. We actually have dozens of awards, even though we've only been around for five years. Agencies get awards for the work that they produce for their clients and it's also based on the results that that work provides. So if a agency doesn't have awards it's harder for them to prove that they were good at what they are claiming to be good at.
The reason I like looking to see what agencies have awards is because the judges for these awards are typically other markers who are really good at what they do. So it's not easy to get them.
Tip number two, does the agency have industry experience? If you want to hire a plastic surgeon to adjust your nose would you hire one that specializes in plastic surgery for ears or noses? Of course you would hire the one that specialize in noses because that's what you're looking for. So why would you hire a marketing agency that doesn't have experience in your industry or for the marketing types of services that you're looking for? It's like hiring an ear doctor to help you with your nose. It just doesn't make any sense.
Tip number three, ask for references. If someone gives you references the chances are the references are going to be great. But if you ask for references and someone doesn't have any it means that they don't probably have that many happy clients.
Tip number four, look who's working on your account. As you may know, my name is Neil Patel and I've been a marketer for over 20 years and I think I'm good at what I do even though I still have a lot more to learn and I can continually get better and improve. But if you hire my agency, NP Digital, because of me, that's a big mistake. You should be hiring my agency or any other agency based on the team that is working on your account.
Tip number five, the size and age of a company. If an agency has been around for a long time, great. If an agency has been around for a long time and they're small, that's bad. The reason most agencies are small is because they aren't amazing at what they do. See, most agencies grow through word of mouth and referrals. As you do good work, you get more referrals. So look to make sure the agency you are working with has been around for at least three or four years and is continually growing. If they're not growing that usually means their clients aren't giving them tons of referrals because they're not happy with the work.
Tip number six, account managers. For some reason some agencies just don't assign dedicated account managers. You need to have someone dedicated to your account that you can talk to whenever you want. That person may also work on a few other accounts based on how much you're paying that agency but a dedicated account manager is ideal. If you don't have a big budget you may not even get a semi dedicated account manager but that's what you should eventually strive for. You'll find that when someone internally at the agency is fighting for you and they're fighting for you to have more resources and get the best results and making sure that everything that they're doing is for your best benefit, you typically get better results.
Tip number seven, how many services do they offer? The sad reality of digital marketing is you need to take advantage of an omnichannel approach. That means Google, Bing, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, Amazon, Walmart and whatever other platform is out there, even BeReal. You have to be on all the channels that make sense for your business.
Now if you need help with your marketing or you're looking for an agency, check out my agency NP Digital. We have those dedicated account managers and we have pretty much everything that I talked about plus more. You can also check out other agencies as well.

The 4 Best Digital Marketing Careers to Pursue in 2022 and Beyond
The four best digital marketing careers to pursue in 2022 and beyond. 20 years ago, I launched myself into a career path that no one even knew existed. I was still in college, but landed my first client completely unintentionally at first. Little did I know how far that first step would take me.

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Before I was 30 years old I had already built two companies from absolutely nothing to eight figures in annual revenue. All I wanted to do was solve a couple of big problems that I thought were important, but I ended up being featured in Forbes magazine as one of the top markers in the world.
President Obama also nominated me as one of the top 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30. I'm no longer under the age of 30, I'm kind of getting old now. And besides all the media attention I managed to travel the world doing public speaking in many exciting countries. Although I didn't really have time to view those countries or the monuments, I kind of had to stay in my hotel and do work, but that's life.
Today, over 600 people are working in companies that I've built and all that I owe to digital marketing. If there's one career path that's worth doing yet, in 2022, and still worth doing in the future, it's digital marketing. One of the main reasons for that is how big the market has become in the last 10 years and is continually growing.
The global digital marketing market reached a value of nearly $305 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach a value of around $807 billion by 2026. That's huge! There's a lot of opportunities right now that you can expect more and more opportunities that will come in the upcoming futures.
So let's take a look at careers that are on the rise today and are expected to grow even more aggressively in the near future. I'm speaking from the position that someone who's constantly looking for new talent, and it's pretty hard to find and recruit people in those positions that I'm going to share. In other words, if you start diving into them you're going to do well.
The first one is Artificial Intelligence Specialists. Recent research with The Economist Group showed that recruiting for data and analytics talent is one of the most difficult out there for all marketing disciplines, according to 39% of senior marketers. So becoming an expert in this area will provide you with a great career opportunity in the future. The average salary for AI specialist in the us is $162,000, while the top 10% can make a $100,000 more than that.
The second one is a UX Designer. Ping Pong research site says the average annual salary for a UX Designer in the U.S. is $97,000, but here's the kicker, those starting with zero to three years experience typically earn $76,000. That's a good amount of cash.
The third one is digital marketing managers and directors. CMOs and VPs can expect to earn over a $100,000 a year, as can creative directors. Digital marketing managers and directors can expect to earn similar sizes as other marketing managers with the average of roughly $109,000, according to salary.com, and it soars of up to $148,000 for the most experience.
The fourth one is positions related to marketing analytics. Look, data is becoming incredibly important, but it's only as good as your ability to interpret it and make sense about it. If you have all this data and you don't know what to do with it, it doesn't really matter. It's kind of useless.
Marketing analytics is a valuable skillset. And what you need to do is get really good at analyzing the data and tell people, hey, here's what you need to do with the data to hit these goals in the business or within market.
People will love you if you can do that. People, everyone uses things like Google Data Studio or Google Analytics, but very few people log in and for the people who log in a very, very, very small percentage even know what to do with the data to get better results.

How We Boosted Our Revenue by 18% Using PayPal
I've been using PayPal for years. It's been so long I can't even remember when I first started using it. But I would've never guessed that using it would increase my revenue. Sounds crazy, right? Today I'm going to break down how we boosted our revenue by 18% using PayPal.
Well, before I dive into how, I wanted to first let you know that this video is sponsored by no other than PayPal. But what's funny is I would've created it either way so you can copy my results.
So how did I get the 18%?
RESOURCES & LINKS:

PayPal Honey: https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/honey
PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/au/home
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
First off, we have a software company called Ubersuggest. Although we have paying customers from all over the world, a large chunk comes from the United States, roughly 26%, and then it's followed closely by countries like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. So I never thought about taking PayPal as a payment option because all of our paying customers have credit cards that we accept, and what's even funnier is we only got the request to accept PayPal a few times a month. For that reason, we didn't think it was important.
But when my co-founder, Mike Kamo, told me about his girlfriend's e-commerce site, although they were only focused on the United States, roughly 40% of their customers paid via PayPal. So we decided to run an experiment. We added PayPal as a payment option on our checkout. Within 30 days, we saw a drastic difference. Our new revenue numbers grew by roughly 16%. A bit more than 35% of our customers chose PayPal as a payment option. Fast forward a few years later, that number is up to 18%.
Just think about that. By adding one simple additional payment option, we grew our revenue by 18%. Plus, PayPal's global network makes it easy for a customer to pay you in one currency, and then PayPal can pay you out in a different currency, which customers love. Now, although our revenue has grown by 18% from new customers, what's crazy is over 35% of our customers prefer paying via PayPal.
If we didn't have PayPal, some of them would've paid by credit card, but the users that chose PayPal typically have their banking accounts connected to the service and their credit cards, which has helped us reduce our churn.
In other words, it helps with customer longevity. If you want a quick win with your business, add it to your checkout page. It's really that simple. At our ad agency, NP Digital, we've recommended this to our clients in all verticals. We see lifts in literally all verticals, especially retail, travel, insurance, and even utilities.
When we surveyed people on why they chose PayPal because I want to understand why it boosted our conversions by that much, they said it was because the checkout process was way faster and easier for them. With the growth of omnichannel marketing, people come to your website from various channels and devices. So why not make their life easier by giving them checkout options that require less effort?
Now, a few things that can help you potentially get even better results than the 18% I mentioned above are that the digital experience starts way before the checkout. Don't wait until the last minute to make things easier on people. Each touchpoint is super important, from reducing clicks to making sure your website loads fast.
Second, discounts and promotions are a great way to boost your returning customers. According to Adobe Analytics, 8.9 billion was spent on Black Friday last year, and that was just online. But you don't have to wait for Black Friday to generate extra revenue. You can always run promotions to your own website visitors or even email list, or better yet, why not run a promotion to a whole new audience?
Through Honey, you can offer promotions to their user base, and their user base is massive. Over 10 million people have their Chrome extension installed. Honey is a good way to operate discounts without cheapening the brand, the typical way price cuts do. And with the macroeconomic situation and inflation, consumers are looking to stretch the dollar, and that's exactly where PayPal's Honey helps.
Just think about it. It's a delightful experience when consumers can save money on gifts or purchases. So what are you waiting for? Give PayPal a try. At the very least, it can help you generate more sales.

The Dirty Little Secret About Social Media Marketing
The dirty little secret about social media marketing. I've been doing social media marketing for a long time, so long that I used to do marketing when there was MySpace. Do you remember that company? It was around before Facebook. And I also have a ad agency, NP Digital, where we employ over 700 marketers and we have over 500 companies that we work with around the world, including social media marketing as one of the services we provide. So I see a lot of data. I've experienced a lot myself, and I'm constantly learning from my team as well. But no matter what guru you talk to or who you follow, no one can really help you get a million engaged followers or help you be the next Kylie Jenner. It's a lot of hit and miss.

The only way to really do well is purely through experimentation. You have to push out a lot of different content and do it consistently to figure out what works for you. See, I'm not a male model. I can't take off my shirt and flex and get tons of likes like David Gandy. And I can't record a video of me dancing like Julianne or Derek Hough because I can't dance like them. And I can't sing like Justin Bieber either. In essence, you have to leverage your own X factor. So what is that X factor that everyone is going to love? You won't know until you experiment. So here's what you should do.
First, post content at least once a day. Ideally, you should be posting content at least three times a day. And when you post your content, don't just focus on one social network. Use all the major ones, from TikTok to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Snap. You'll quickly learn the type of content that works for each social network.
Second, post all the main content types at least once a week. So in this case, you would try text-based content at least once a week, videos at least once a week, quotes at least once a week, images at least once a week. You also want to go live once a week or even try stories. You get the point.
The type of content that you can post is endless. You can even try riding the wave of a popular meme. You won't be able to test out every content type out there in one week, but you can rotate through them and figure out what your audience likes and, more importantly, what they don't like.
When you do something long enough, you'll get better at it. And over time, your account will just grow. Again, you just have to be patient. You will have to kickstart your growth. If you don't have many friends, it'll be a slow start. But if you spend even a few hundred dollars on ads or you cross-promote your account with another user to help you get more followers, even if you have to pay that other user, it will all help you kickstart the process.
Don't just focus purely on follower count either. You want the right type of audience. If you have followers that never buy anything from you, it just won't matter. 5 Quick Ways to Improve Your SEO Rankings
SEO is all about the long game, slow and steady wins the race. At our agency, NP Digital, clients stick around with us for years, in our enterprise division, we're keeping clients for five plus year, that's a long time. Eventually, we'll probably start keeping enterprise clients for over seven years, but keep in mind, we're a newer agency.
So even though SEO is a slow and steady game, it works, but do you really have to wait that long to get the results that you want? The answer is no. There are quick ways to get results, maybe not all the results you want, but you can get immediate results. So let's break down five tactics to get you quicker results.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Google Search Console: https://search.google.com/search-console/about
CodeCanyon: https://codecanyon.net/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Way number one, find almost ranking phrases. The more keyword that you rank on page one for, the better off you are, because no one really goes to page two. Majority of the traffic's on page one, and ideally at the top of page one. Did you know that you can find all the terms that you're raking somewhat well for, and quickly optimize those, so that way you can just pop up to page one? I want you to log to Google Search Console, click on search results, then click on average position, and then scroll down and click on pages.
But when you add those terms within those areas that I just mentioned, your title tags, your content, your URL, it can quickly boost your rankings. Now, keep in mind if you change your URL, you got to do a 301 redirect from your old URL to your new URL, and you got to adjust all your old internal links to make sure they're going directly to the new URL.
Way number two, add a free tool to your website. I added a free tool called Ubersuggest to my website. It increased my backlink count by 24,453 referring domains. The more links you have, the higher you will rank over time. And here's a cool thing, you can do this same exact thing to your website. You don't have to build a tool from scratch like me either, you can just add one to your website for 10, or even 15 or $20. All you have to do is go to a site called CodeCanyon where you combine a tool within your industry and just purchase it, and you can just put it on your website.
You of course won't generate as many backlinks that I generated through Ubersuggest because I built a custom tool, but over time, as you're getting results from using tools let's say from CodeCanyon, or wherever else you can find them on the web, eventually as it starts getting traction, your rankings increase, you start generating more money, then you can invest the time and resources and money to build your own custom tools.
Way number three, add internal links. You publish new content all the time, right? Well if you don't, you should start doing so, but if your new content doesn't have backlinks, it won't rank well. Now links take a while to get, but that doesn't mean you still can't get results. One quick hack is to go into your older articles and modify it. Within your older articles, add a few links to your newly published articles. This way, your new content starts ranking higher, faster. As a general rule of thumb, only modify old articles that are related to the new one. You don't want to add internal links unless it makes sense.
Way number four, optimize your meta tags for higher ranking. You don't have to bill links to rank higher, you can just adjust your meta tags, from your title tag to your meta description, and even as a bonus, optimize your URLs.
Way number five, content is king, so write it in half the time. Look, if you can write your content half the time, in theory, you can produce more, maybe double the amount of content, and generate even more traffic. The caveat here is though the quality needs to be great, not up to par, but great, better than up to par. On Ubersuggest, we have an AI writer that helps you write content. It won't fully write the content for you, but it starts you off and helps you optimize for the right keywords. From there, you can modify it and create a masterpiece in half the time.
So head on over to Ubersuggest, go to the lab section, and click on AI writer. From there, put in a keyword that you want your article to be about. For this example, I selected marketing, then select the title that works for you, then select a meta description, then select a few headings, and boom, you'll have article in seconds.

5 Quick Ways to Get More Instagram Likes
I've been running a lot of Instagram experiments, not only on my Neil Patel account, but also on 38 other accounts in a variety of different industries. If you want to see some of these experiments in real time, then just follow me on Instagram. My username is NeilPatel. Either way, I'm going to break down my learnings here that will help you get more likes. So let's dive right in.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
CodeCanyon: https://codecanyon.net/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Hack number one, go live. So even though the popularity of live content is growing and people want it more, people on Instagram though aren't creating as much of it. If you go live twice a week, you'll find that you'll get more engagement and more followers. Then when you post content, more people will see it and will like it. But here is the issue though, if the content you're going live with isn't great, it won't work. So you can't just go live for the sake of going live, you need to plan ahead on what you're going to show or talk about and how that's going to add a lot of value to all the people listening in, that way going live produces more followers and eventually when you post more content, you'll get more likes because you got more followers, and those people are super engaged.
Hack number two, get influencers to comment on your post. One signal that Instagram uses to figure out how much to show your content is based on who's engaging with your content. It's not hard to network with other Instagram users.
Some of them will also be Instafamous. Don't ask for anything crazy from them, especially from these friends of yours, other than just asking them, hey, leave a good comment on your post. And what I mean good comment, I mean one that creates engagement.
I would want to make sure that they're in a relevant industry, field, and they can leave comments like that based on their own experience, that's what does really well. And when others leave a comment on your posts, and ideally within the first hour of them going live, you'll get much, much more likes, because your post will be shown to a lot of your non followers. In essence, Instagram will use their algorithm to show to other people that they think may be interested in it.
Hack number three, use music from memes and trends. Have you ever noticed that when you like a reel from a meme or a trend, you could generally see more of that video or other similar ones that contain the same music? This happens to me all the time, especially with those dancing videos.
The key to doing this strategy is to do it right when you see a new trend popping off. So if you see this new popular dance video or new trend popping off and everyone's using that same music, that's when you need to jump on it.
Hack number four, ask for a like. I know this sounds simple, but asking for a like is a great way to get more likes. But you just don't want to ask for a like, because there's actually a slicker way to do it. Ask people to either tag a friend, double tap, leave a comment, share this post with a friend, drop an emoji if you agree, or just like the post, which is the most simplest form of it. And every time we've tested this, on average, we get roughly 38.45% more likes. That's huge!
Hack number five, use carousels. For some weird reason, people like writing long captions on their Instagram posts. You know, you'll have your post, but then people have this long text description. People using Instagram, use it on mobile devices primarily, which means they're not going to read that long caption. Maybe you'll get a few percent of the people to do it, but most won't. But here's the thing with Instagram, they have this feature where you can add multiple images to one post. In essence, it's a carousel. Just look at this example. You can see how we can swipe through and go from image to image. Those posts on average are getting 49.22% more engagement.
The carousels can have a lot of words or a little, but as long as the content is good, it'll do well. And here's one example from Codie that did extremely well. Here's the trick that she used to get more likes. She co-published it with another account. In other words, she published it from her own personal account and her business account called UnconventionalAcquisitions.
Now, you may not have multiple accounts, that's okay. But you can do a collaboration with someone else and you both can post the same carousel image and it'll get way more engagement.

How to Run TikTok Ads 2022 - TikTok Advertising Tutorial (TikTok for Business)
How to run TikTok ads in 2022. This is a TikTok advertising tutorial for businesses. TikTok has now over one billion monthly active users as of January, 2022. 160 million videos are watched in an internet minute on the platform and it's the most popular mobile app downloaded in 2020 and 2021. If you want to leverage that platform, but don't want to spend all that time and energy figuring out an organic growth strategy, TikTok ads may be a great alternative. Today, I'm going to show you what you need to do in order to run successful paid ads on TikTok.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Step one, create and install a TikTok Pixel. Similar to Facebook ads or Google ads and other ad platforms, when you install a pixel, that allows you to understand the user's behavior on your website. That in turn will allow you to segment those users in cohorts that you want to target with other ads.
So let's say someone visits your website, goes through the checkout process, and doesn't complete their purchase. You'll be able to retarget that person with another ad and that'll help you increase the number of conversions you get, because when they're on TikTok, they'll see it, boom, you can start making them convert. And here's a trick.
Let's say you're selling a product or a service. When you do that remarketing ad on TikTok, you can show a video of what it's like to be a customer or use your product or service. That'll get more people to convert.
Step two, start with a very broad audience segmentation. Don't target a specific gender or age group. Let TikTok run your ads to a broad user group and let it optimize and deliver so they can find out later which audience are the most responsive. You should run your ads and wait some time for user data to come in so that you can optimize around the data so you can see what's working for your campaigns versus just jumping the gun.
Step three, use as placement only TikTok. Don't waste your time and money advertising on other platforms that TikTok offers. The real value is really on TikTok as a platform itself.
Step four, make sure to target only one interest at a time. When you're starting, you don't want to mix up things that have too many interests being targeted at the same time. If you stack different interests, you won't be able to understand which interests are creating the best results. It's better to target only one interest at a time so you can clearly identify which interests are the most profitable for you campaign and then expand from there.
Step five, ideally, start with a minimum budget of $50 a day. This will allow TikTok to run more experiments with your ads and show them more audiences in order to optimize your ad delivery faster.
Step six, cap your costs per conversion. Make sure that it's at least at breakeven point and that'll allow you to run ads and spend money and not lose it.
Step seven, use TikTok's ad platform. They'll show you all the top performing ads on their platform so that you can learn what's working for other people and how you can model after those ads in your own business. That'll reduce the risk.
Now, if you need help with your TikTok ads, check out my ad agency, NP Digital, we'll be helpin' with TikTok and all the social platforms out there, even performance marketing. Or if you just have any questions on TikTok, whether it's paid or organic, leave a comment below. I'm here to help.

Here’s What Facebook and Google Aren’t Telling You About Your Ads
Marketing has turned into omnichannel approach in which you drive traffic and sales through multiple channels, not just one. And in marketing, they talk about this thing called the rule of seven, which reinforces omnichannel. What the rule of seven is about is when someone hears or sees or interacts with your brand seven times, they're more likely to convert in a customer, evangelize your brand, love it, tell people about it and that's why you want to take an omnichannel approach because it's hard to get in touch with one person through the same channel over and over again.

____________________________________________
But there's an issue When you start leveraging multiple channels which one is responsible for the conversions? Is it Google? Is it Facebook? Is it Instagram, Twitter, email? How do you know which channel is producing you the most ROI?
Well, there's the issue which how each of these platforms from Google to Facebook report on conversions. Let's say someone comes to your website from an organic LinkedIn post, then they subscribe to your newsletter. You then send them a few emails, they click on some of them, come back to your website At this point, they still haven't bought from you. And then they do a search on Google. They click on your paid ad that's at the top of Google. They go through, they check out your website, maybe even add some props to the landing page or read your services page, but they still don't convert. You then see them coming back to your website because they clicked on one of your tweets or bio in on Twitter. And now they come back to your website and they complete their purchase.
Do you think Google shows that they caused that conversion from, let's call it Twitter or do you think it shows that they were responsible for that conversion and it came from their ad? Of course, they show that it comes from their ad. Facebook and pretty much all paid platforms do the same. If someone clicks on one of these paid ads and they don't convert right away, but then they come back through some other channel, even if they found your website before you did that paid advertising, they'll tell you that they were responsible for that conversion.
There's nothing wrong with this, but you ideally need to attribute your conversion to multiple channels to figure out what's accurately driving you revenue and what isn't. And before I get into how you can do that in Google Analytics, let me break down the common attribution models that you can use.
There's Last Click. This is historically the default that just gives all the credit to the last click before someone converted. Then you have Time Decay. This gives credit based on the time between the interactions. Then you have Linear. This gives equal credit across each step of the conversion path. And then there's Position-Based. This typically gives credit to specific steps in the conversion path, usually the first and the last one. Then you have First Click All the credit from the first interaction, typically used to drive awareness to your website. And then you have Data-Driven. This uses historical data to determine the attribution credit. This model will shift depending on the unique path.
There isn't one right or even wrong approach to use. I typically use Position-Based myself which typically gives credit to the first touch and the last touch. First touch being how someone first found your website and last touch being on what is the last entry source that they came through before they converted. Sometimes people come to your website the first time and they convert right away and sometimes they don't.
But that's why I love using this model because it gives me, Hey, what are the main two drivers of the conversion? Now here's how you adjust your attribution in Google Analytics. First click on admin, then I want you to click on attribution settings. Then click on the model you want to choose. And if you want, you can choose position-based, like me or any other option. Now you'll get a better idea of what is driving your revenue.

The Easiest SEO Strategy I’ve Ever Used
The easiest SEO strategy I've ever used. People assume that SEO is all work and no play. And yeah, there is a ton of work that goes into it. Anything that requires you to follow through on a long-term strategy is going to require some serious ongoing effort. But that doesn't mean that you can't find ways to make your SEO easier.
In fact, I have one SEO strategy that's super simple. I rely on it all the time and it knocks out a ton of the dirty work for me. Now, I may have been doing SEO for a super long time, but I even run into walls sometimes, and I need help getting unstuck. And for me, I have a lot of responsibilities. So I really need to find ways to delegate, simplify and streamline my approach. So can you guess what my easy SEO hack is?

I leverage AI. Pretty straightforward, right? I need help for my SEO, from finding keywords to content ideas to meta text, I'm always looking for new approaches that can make my life easier and more simple. AI is rapidly becoming one of the most adopted new technologies that businesses of all sizes can leverage.
SEO-centric AI is truly necessary because it connects the dots for everything that I need to bring my SEO strategy together. So that way it all flows and it's cohesive. It helps me analyze a relationship between my website, the content and ranking, and it helps me pivot quickly so I can continue to outrank my competition.
It also helps me identify opportunities including cutting edge topics in my industry that need addressing and that my audience wants to explore. Also, helps me optimize for conversions, including insights for how each page can accomplish a specific goal, such as a conversion to a sale, or sign up or subscribe, or redirect them to somewhere else, or refreshing outdated stake content to get the boost I need.
In fact, according to Outranking, 30% of AI adopters cited a 6 to 10% increase in revenue after implementing the new technology. Now, that's major growth. The machine learning tool that uses AI, it's called GPT-3 and you've heard about it. It's been available now, publicly through Open AI. And it's great, and you should check it out. So far in 2022, it's sweeping the SEO marketplace and tons of major software engineers are taking note.
Tools like Search Atlas, CopySmith, Jasper, Copy.ai and many more are using it to fit in their applications and make content marketing easier, which makes it easier for you to create SEO content at scale. Now, in it's most basic level, it's a text generator, right? You should check out GPT-3.
But because it can create content with relatively few inputs, it's also extremely helpful to SEO users that need a ton of content fast. Tools that incorporate GPT-3 into their software can now do things like generate topics for you, titles, meta tags, even create a whole article, or just do blog outlines and then let you pick what content you want to create for each and every single paragraph. And if you don't like one, you can click don't like, and then it spits up a new variation.
I like relying on AI for title and topic generation, meta tag generation, and even the occasional outline if I really want to get going. The best part, it's all automated and it saves you so much time. And what I found that if you're new to blogging, it can save you roughly half the time or it can save you your whole time. If you really want to write articles that are super creative and best for users, you're going to have to modify that article, or you know, write a lot of it from scratch. And that's what I like doing to streamline my SEO.
Answer the Public allows you to tap directly into your audience and go for those terms that aren't that competitive that a lot of people are searching for today. Answer the Public listens and taps into the auto-complete data before cranking out super useful phrases and questions that your audience is searching for every single day. It's one of the easiest ways to identify what your audience wants. And then you can use some of those AI tools to help you create content around those topics.
So if you want to create better content using these AI tools, check out Answer the Public to get you new insights. And if you just want my team to do all this for you, check out NP Digital.

How I Stay Ahead of Google Algorithm Updates
How I stay ahead of Google algorithm updates. Have you ever noticed that Google is constantly making algorithm changes? The worst part is that they don't always give you a ton of notice when they finally roll one out.
The bottom line is you simply can't afford to ignore Google or the many algorithm updates that are to come in the future. It's important to understand that Google's ranking system actually consists of multiple algorithms. It's not just one easy-to-understand system. In fact, there are over 200 components that factor into Google's algorithm.
The next time you hear an update has been rolled out, imagine it's an entire interconnected process, not just one simple lever being pulled. Here are a few essential tips for staying ahead of Google's algorithm update so you'll never get left behind.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Google Alerts:
Roundtable: https://www.roundtable.eu/
Google Search Essentials: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/essentials
Semrush Sensor: https://www.semrush.com/sensor/
Crazy Egg: https://www.crazyegg.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Step one, set up Google Alerts. Tracking every single update that Google makes can be exhausting, but you can't afford to miss out on the big core algorithm update. With Google Alerts, you'll receive a notification directly in your inbox whenever algorithm updates are mentioned online, giving you enough time to prepare and tweak your SEO strategy if needed mentally.
Another great way to stay on top of algorithm changes is to follow Google Search Liaison on Twitter. Its official account essentially does what Google Alerts does, but tracks social media mentions instead, and while we're on the subject of Google, user tools such as Search Console and Use Google Analytics, they can help you identify unusual traffic activity as well as random spikes or dips in conversion.
Major traffic or conversions changes could indicate that your SEO has been affected by an algorithm change. It could be positive or negative. From there, you want to check out blogs, like search engine Roundtable and search engine Land, which typically covers what's happening, and I also cover them on neilpatel.com.
Step two, avoid Blackhat SEO practices. It's got a spooky name for a pretty good reason. Some of these practices might just help you gain a short term advantage, but it won't last long and it could even lead to penalty which could seriously harm your business's long term chances of ranking high on Google. You might even get blacklisted. Google's pretty smart. They can recognize when you're up to no good. Instead, read through Google Search Essentials.
Step three, optimize the user experience. Every update has one overarching goal: to show users the sites they love that provide the most helpful information and that are most beneficial. Look, a bad user experience can be disastrous for your traffic.
Ensure you also have a comprehensive internal linking structure, a fast-loading website, and quality content. You can use tools like DeepCrawl, BuzzSumo, Found, and more to see how your website is performing, and you can use tools like Crazy Egg to create a heat map that shows you where people are clicking on your website and where they don't, and you can use this data to improve your user experience as well.
Step four, keep your content fresh. I did not follow Google updates that much. Why? Because they happen so often and so quickly that it's almost impossible for me to anticipate everything that Google will change fully. What I did was I started prioritizing creating exceptional, user-friendly content and stuff that my audience actually wants to read.
Step five, use tools that determine what updates are affecting your website. Notice a decline in traffic as of lately? It might not be a random fluke. It might have been an algorithm change. Here are two tools that can help you identify what the heck went wrong.
The first is check out Google Search Console. It contains a ton of awesome resources that you can use to diagnose common performance issues and identify potential algorithm penalties.
Then the other tool that you have, Semrush Sensor. This tool breaks down what is changing for each industry when it comes to algorithm updates.
With these five strategies, you should be good to go and ready for whatever Google throws your way, and if you want even more help, check out my ad agency, NP Digital, where we help companies with their Google problems and heck, all their digital marketing problems.

Amazon SEO - Tutorial For Beginners
Amazon SEO, here's a tutorial for beginners. Have you ever heard of the advertising triathlete? It's people talking about Google ads, Facebook ads, and Amazon ads. Amazon is the powerhouse that most marketers take for granted, especially when it comes down to SEO. So, let's go over how you can optimize your Amazon listings so they can rank higher in Amazon search. But before we begin, you need to understand the two main components of Amazon SEO.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
The first component is keywords. Are you targeting the right keywords, the ones people are typing in? And when they type those keywords in, would they expect to see your product? If not, those are the wrong keywords.
The second thing that you need to understand is sales velocity. The more you sell, and if you're selling at a higher percentage than your competition and at a faster rate, you will rank higher. After all, Amazon gets a cut from every sale you make. So why wouldn't they want to rank the listings higher that outperform the competition, because it makes them more money. So let's go over your listing in detail and the changes you need to make to rank higher when it comes down to SEO.
So, tip number one, optimizing your title. Typically, you'll have to include a few things in your title for them to perform well. They are brand, model type and number, product type, size and quantity, power output requirements, color, and design. Now, these may not be all applicable to your title, but a lot of those elements may be.
Now, I can keep going over all these types, but Amazon provides them to you, so I'm not going to bore you with all of them. But as you can see, the more specific you get, the better off you'll do and use Amazon's examples to help you out, because they're telling you what performs the best because they want your listing to perform the best so they make more money.
See, Amazon SEO's very different than Google SEO. People click on a Google result that's SEO-driven, it's not like Google makes more money unless you have AdSense on your website. They do what's best for users. With Amazon SEO, just like their paid ads, if people click on them and they buy, they make more money, so they want to help you rank higher because it helps them make more money.
Tip number two, optimize your description. You don't want to rewrite your product description, right? If you just do that, it's not going to do well. A well-crafted product description, though, is one that does not just merely mimic what was written in the product title, but it expands upon it in detail and makes the benefits the focal point of the text.
Customers on Amazon typically hate reading large chunks of text. So make sure you have a product description that's concise as possible. No one wants to read two, three sentences or five sentences when it could've just been done in one.
Tip number three, bullets, no one wants to read a lot of text when it comes to bullets. Bullets are a simple way to get your main message across. And here's some tips when crafting bullets. First, outline. It's your job as a entrepreneur or a marketer to make sure bullet points are written differently from your title and description. Focus on your best product attributes within your bullets. Focus on one benefit per bullet point. That way, they're easier to read.
Tip four, take amazing high-quality photos. And one photo isn't enough. The more details your photos have and the higher quality they are, the better off you are. Taking studio-quality photos is preferred over just taking photos with your phone. Make sure you also take multiple photos with different angles, so that way, people can see the product in different viewpoints.
Tip five, use popular keywords. You can use tools like Ubersuggest to come up with popular keywords. Go into Ubersuggest and type in any keyword related to what you're selling.
I also, on that page, I want you to click on the different tabs, like Related, Questions, and Prepositions. This is where you'll find a lot more keywords. Many of them are based on what people are interested in. This will give you ideas on what to focus on and what not to focus on.
Tip six, focus on reviews. As I mentioned earlier, sales velocity is a big part of your Amazon rankings. And people buy based on reviews. You don't want to cheat the system and create fake reviews, but the more good reviews and real reviews you get, the better off you are.
