Why’d they insult the police again? #youtubeshorts
Congresswomen Bush and Talib voted against a resolution to honor fallen police officers and offer condolences to the families of the fallen.
Time after time, we learn about police who responded to a call and were killed. And unfortunately now, some are murdered or targeted at their own home. It's tragic. I'm not sure why honoring them deserves a vote of no.

Healthy Mindset For Police Officers #youtubeshorts
It's absolutely crucial to do mental gardening when you work as a police officer. The job can be so stressful and traumatic that if you do not tend to your mind, you can start reliving events and having negative emotions from negative events running your life. I hope that makes sense.
I know it sounds a bit woo-woo but it's essential. Take time to fully relax, meditate, fish, laugh, be with uplifting people, and/or so much more to not let the negativity get the best of you. You see enough negativity, avoid becoming it during your #lawenforcement career.
Bring this to work. Saves money too. #youtubeshorts
Obesity rates are at a concerning level in America, and unfortunately police officers are not exempt. It can be tough to maintain to a healthy eating lifestyle during long shifts, rotating shifts, busy shifts, etc... but it's a must regardless of how hard it can be.
In this video, I talk about a simple game changer that helped me maintain a healthier lifestyle while working as a police officer.

Bad decisions on this can get cops fired. #youtubeshorts
My friend and recently retired police captain Aaron, states one of the biggest contributors to LEO's being investigated, complained on, fired, etc... It's something that wasn't so easy to access 24/7 up until the last decade or so.
Make good decisions, no ridiculous post is worth losing your career.
Retired Police Captain's advice to officers. #youtubeshorts

Something to think about to be less stressed with people. #youtubeshorts
Several years ago I was attending daily Mass before Christmas Eve. The pastor got up and said he knew a lot of us would be travelling to see family. He said he didn't want to say anything to stir up conflict but made the point to not put any expectations on people.
People are who they are, and sometimes we expect sudden change. This can cause stress and I unfortunately did this a lot in my police career because I would put false expectations on supervisors who weren't good leaders. Fortunately most of the supervisors I had, were leaders. But still, don't put expectations.

Belief in yourself outweighs the blanketed police hate. #youtubeshorts
All personal opinions aside, we know for a fact that the
statement “Hands up! Don’t shoot.” was not made during the
unfortunate incident involving Officer Darren Wilson and
citizen Michael Brown, in 2014. However, the media and a
lot of individuals ran with it and I’ll never forget people
yelling that statement towards me and other officers whenever
we were on scene at calls.
Was it frustrating? Yes, it was. Was it demoralizing? No. Hold
strong to the belief in what you are doing out there! People are
calling 911 and you are showing up to help these complete
strangers. You, as a police officer, are willing to stop some of
the most dangerous individuals in society. These are noble
things and no negative opinion should shake you to your core
as long as you are doing the right thing for the public.
The fact is, I know you want to be supported and when you
see people label you with blanketed statements and/or terms,
it completely stinks. I get it.
But please heed this advice if you haven’t already. If you go
through life valuing how you are perceived and what you are
doing based on others’ opinions of you, you’re setting
yourself up for a rough ride. If you keep a good head on your
shoulders and are professional, you’re fine. The haters will
never stop slandering, but you can make the decision not to
take on board what they think they see. I’m not saying be
closed off to constructive conversations, even if they’re
difficult. I’m just saying you shouldn’t put value on the hate.
You will even encounter haters within the department. I’m not
kidding.
Scott Medlin
14
Look, I’ll get to the part about department drama and toxicity
soon. I’m talking about the haters who will unleash verbal
attacks on you when you are enthusiastic, ambitious, and
happy. You will mostly get this from a few of the long-time,
veteran officers who are over it, just want to retire, and they
are unfortunately beaten down emotionally and physically.
If they give you good advice such as pace yourself during your
career, take your time when investigating, etc. then that’s not
hate. But if they know you are a happily married person and
are enjoying where you are in your career and they blast away
at you because they don’t see themselves as happy, then let it
go in one ear and out the other.
I’m not saying this is guaranteed to happen to you, but if it
does, just be polite and move on. As former long-timer serving
#police officer Justin Cotte says, “Be yourself.”

It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN. Very upsetting. #youtubeshorts
There have been an utterly shocking amount of active attacker tragedies in this country. It really is getting to a point when officers must be ready for when, not if they will respond to such incidents.
My guest, Raul Rivas, was one of the officers who responded to the Pulse Night Club on that catastrophic night back in June of 2016. His experiences there, and his advice since then are what every police officer must hear considering the times we are in.

Rookie cops need to remember to this. #youtubeshorts
I’ve covered the importance of knowing who you are and that
the job is what you do. Now you have to remember that you
must possess solid and noble reasons for getting into law
enforcement.
The thing is, you must always remember them.
There will be stress and you will be exposed to people who
will lead you to believe there aren’t any good people left in
society.
You could be pulled into an internal investigation
when another officer screws up badly and/or breaks the law
and you’re being interrogated like it’s your fault. These things
and so much more can distract you from why you made the
decision to join the force in the first place.
You could find yourself in a harmful, survival mentality rather than
succeeding and making a difference out there.

Rookie Police: Be careful of this! #youtubeshorts
I know this sounds so simple and obvious. However, too many
police officers pour their heart and soul into the job so fast
when they start and then end up sacrificing their own health.
I’m speaking from personal experience and I’ve also seen
officers who have become so mentally miserable and out of
shape, I feel very bad for them. Do you think they woke up
one morning and thought, “You know, I will show up for the
public but not myself.”
Of course, they didn’t think this.
If you are not careful and aware of yourself then bad habits,
negative thoughts, etc. can overtake you and the next thing
you know, you are fighting your way through a mental health
illness. I beg you to take care of yourself so you can do a great
job protecting and serving the public.

Advice to rookie police, the job is not you. #youtubeshorts
If you have read “Mental Health Fight of The Heroes in Blue”,
you remember it well. https://amzn.to/3DBZQGY
Is this job a calling or passion? Oh yes!
Those who take it on because it looked cool or just wanted a
job are typically in for a rude awakening. I don’t wish
anything bad to happen, but it can more readily happen with
the wrong mentality.
Internalizing this job so that it becomes
who you are is unhealthy because the day will come when you
are not working as a police officer anymore. Does that mean
you are worthless? NO!
What you do as a police officer is important. However, who
you are deep in your core comes first and you can continue to
make a difference even when the job is in your past.

7 ways military experience can help working as a police officer.
Speaking from personal experience, the time I served in the US Military in the Marine Corps, helped me immensely when I was sworn in as a police officer from 2007-2022.
There are more than 7 ways, and I can't speak for everyone but I think the policing profession would benefit more military veterans working.
However, recruiting and retention are very tough right now, but if you are in the military and are thinking of working in law enforcement, this video is for you.
