Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS: Resolve WIFI Connection Issues
In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid explains why a Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Security System might be failing to connect with a WIFI network, or why it might be losing its WIFI connection. There are actually several reasons why a PROA7PLUS might fail to connect to WIFI. For one, if you enter the password for a WIFI network incorrectly, then it will fail to connect. Make sure to enter the network password correctly, following upper and lower case conventions to ensure a successful connection.
Another reason that the PROA7PLUS would fail to connect to a WIFI network is because you are using Access Point (AP) from Ubiquti with the PROA7PLUS, and the Ubiquiti Access Point has its Auto-Optimize feature turned ON. The Ubiquiti Access Point devices are known to cause connection issues for the PROA7PLUS and other ProSeries Alarm Panel if the Auto-Optimize feature is turned ON, so you should turn it OFF for best results. Of course another reason you could be experiencing WIFI connection problems is simply because there is a problem with your internet service. There could be an outage in your area, and nothing can connect to your local WIFI network right now. In that case, you should reach out to your internet service provider and see if there's an outage in your area. They should also be able to tell you when service would be restored.
Last, there could be an issue with the PROA7PLUS WIFI card, which is known as the Honeywell Home PROWIFIZW. It's possible that if there is a problem with the PROWIFIZW, then you may need to replace it with a new one. In that case, you can get another PROWIFIZW, which will provide both WIFI and Z-Wave Plus functionality. Or if you don't care about using Z-Wave home automation devices, them you could instead get the Honeywell Home PROWIFI, which is the same device, only without Z-Wave Plus functionality. Replacing the PROWIFIZW should be a last resort, after you have determined that nothing else will fix the system's WIFI connection.

Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS: Adding a Z Wave Lock
In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to add a Z-Wave lock with a Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Security System. The Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS has a built-in Z-Wave controller called the PROWIFIZW that allows you to pair Z-Wave smart home automation devices, including any Z-Wave locks, with the system. Paired automation devices, locks included, can be controlled directly from the PROA7PLUS Panel itself. If you have access to Total Connect 2.0 automation services, then you can control your Z-Wave devices remotely using the TC2 Mobile App or a compatible web browser for TC2. The TC2 platform will also allow you to create smart scenes for your Z-Wave locks so that they activate automatically based on a set schedule or with predetermined with events.
Pairing Z-Wave locks with the PROA7PLIS is quite easy. You just put your PROA7PLUS in its auto-enrollment mode and then activate the Z-Wave inclusion/exclusion function on the Z-Wave lock to get it to enroll. If you have a Z-Wave 700-Seres Lock or a Z-Wave 500-Series lock, the may need to provide the first 5 digits of the lock's DSK code so that it can be set up with the S2 security protocol. Before you go to add a Z-Wave lock to a PROA7PLUS, you should clear it from the network first. That will wipe out any residual Z-Wave network data so that it can pair with a new network successfully. Z-Wave locks usually have an inclusion function and an exclusion function that may consist of a simple button, or you may need to enter a specific sequence into the lock's touchscreen keypad or push-button keypad to initiate the command. Remember, the ProSeries Panel musr have a a built-in Z-wave card. This can be the Honeywell Home PROWIFIZW, which doubles as both a WIFI card and as a Z-Wave Plus Controller.

Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS: Add a Z Wave Device
In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to add a new Z-Wave device to a Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Alarm System. This process may also be referred to as pairing or enrolling a Z-Wave device. The Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS has a PROWIFIZW module installed inside so that it can readily support Z-Wave devices. The same is also true for the Resideo PROA7PLUSC. But the other ProSeries Panels, which are the PROA7 and PROA7C, do not have the PROWIFIZW installed by default, and you must add it to one of those system is you want to use it for Z-Wave automation and smart home control. All four (4) ProSeries Panels follow the same general process for adding and deleting Z-Wave devices.
After you pair a Z-Wave device with a PROA7PLUS, you will be able to control that device from the main panel, as well as from any PROWLTOUCH or PROWLTOUCHC Keypads that have been added. Additionally, if the system is monitored with a plan that includes automation, then you will also be able to operate paired Z-Wave devices remotely from Total Connect 2.0. This can be done using a compatible web browser or a mobile app on your phone. Total connect 2.0 also allows you to create smart scene automations so that your paired Z-Wave devices can activate automatically based on a set schedule and/or with predetermined system events.
All sorts of Z-Wave devices can be paired with a PROA7PLUS or othe ProSeries Panel with a PROWIFIZW installed. Examples of Z-Wave devices you might use with the PROA7PLUS include smart lights, door locks, smart thermostats, emergency water valves, and even smart garage door controllers. It is recommended that you first clear a new Z-Wave device from a Z-Wave network before adding it in. That way, you can be sure that no residual Z-Wave network data remains inside the sensor, which is very important for ensuring successful device enrollment.

Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS: Remove a Z Wave Device
In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to remove, or clear, a Z-Wave smart home automation device from a Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Security System. The Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS and Resideo PROA7PLUSC both include a Honeywell Home PROWIFIZW Module inside, which provides Z-Wave Plus support and functionality. But the other ProSeries Panels, the Honeywell Home PROA7 and Resideo PROA7C, do not have the PROWIFIZW Module installed by default. For those systems, you must add a PROWIFI Module separately. But all four (4) systems follow the same process for the exclusion of Z-Wave devices once a PROWIFIZW is added.
When you remove a Z-Wave device from a Z-Wave controller, you are wiping out all residual Z-Wave network data for the device. This makes it possible to enroll the Z-Wave device with a new Z-Wave controller. Therefore, you will typically perform the exclusion process for any given Z-Wave device before you go and attempt to add it to the network. You can perform the exclusion process for any Z-Wave device at any time, even if it is not paired with a network at all. The Z-Wave controller should still give confirmation that a Z-Wave device was cleared.
Additionally, if the Z-Wave device you excluded from the network was paired with a Z-Wave controller at the time, then it will no longer work with that network. This is true whether the Z-Wave device was paired with the PROA7PLUS or another Z-Wave controller hub entirely. For the PROA7PLUS, the device will no longer show up in the enrolled devices list. For any other Z-Wave controller, the Z-Wave device will still be listed, but it will show trouble, as the controller won't be able to locate the device. If you want to continue using that device, you will need to re-add it to a Z-Wave network.
